A fun day out at sea

Wonderful crew and boat! We were in the outer reef so be prepared for a long (2hour) ride out. We stopped at 3 locations. The crew is very knowledgeable and very safe. Things to be prepared for: the ride can be very wet especially if you are in the exposed parts of the ship. If you are prone to motion sickness take the ginger tab they offer and consider bringing wrist bands for motion sickness. The reefs are worth wait

An adventure!

Very professional, friendly staff and nice boat for snorkeling or diving. Did the intro dive and received great instruction and guidance from Darcy. Be prepared for a rather long (2 hours each way) to the sites and to get wet if sitting outside.

Awesome snorkel + intro dive experience

We are a family of 4, including 2 adult children, and while the other 3are good swimmers, I’m not as confident as them. I picked Calypso after much research and signed up for the all day trip to the outer reef. My wife convinced me to pin them into doing one introductory scuba dive at one of the 3 snorkeling stops. I must say the dive experience was just amazing, mostly because of our instructors. Pam, our main instructor taught us the basics, and then dove with my wife and daughter. My son and I dove with another instructor, Timmy, who was also amazing. Timmy helped calm my nerves initially and led through an awesome dive experience that lasted 30 mins and top 6.7m. The other 2 snorkeling experiences were amazing too. A relatively small boat with fewer patrons (compared to the one that followed us), and the crew was just amazing. I can’t recommend Calypso enough

Great day! Everything went smoothly and all the staff were fantastic. And the lunch was also really good. I did one introductory scuba dive which was amazing, and I felt really well looked after from a safety and experience perspective. But snorkeling is awesome, too!

Wow!

We did the Introductory Dive. All the staff were very friendly, they explained everything clearly and we went into the water. They were calm and took their time. We went out as a group of three and had loads of fun, saw so many fish and amazing reefs. Lunch was good. We only signed up for one dive, but loved it so much we did a second. Very welcoming environment for beginners. Will definitely go back:)

Day on the reef

Wonderful experience for novice, older snorkelers. Crew was extremely attentive and professional. The equipment was clean and functional. But most importantly, the snorkeling sites were just beautiful.

This crew was so kind and knowledgeable! The waters were rough the day we went out and they were very thoughtful to anyone that felt sick. It was my first scuba experience and Tim did a really wonderful job making me feel safe and comfortable!

Was a beautiful day out, one of, if not the most amazing experience we've been a part of in our lives. Staff were lovely, well fed and taken care of, highly recommend!

A great trip to the Great Barrier Reef

Excellent trip with a professional outfit. We were a large family group, with a couple of Scuba divers and several snorkelers. Plenty of time in the water at the 3 reefs we visited, a guided tour at the second reef, and talks on the boat from a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable crew. Very decent food and hot drinks included, and good quality equipment.

We took the Calypso outer reef trip because of recommendations. Well it was perfect. Special shout-out to Michael who was a perfect scuba guide and to also to Alex for a perfect dive. Except for turtles we saw everything and it is beautiful. Full day, safe hands, food and drinks, a wonder of the world

Blissful trip to the Reef

Amazing experience - friendly, kind + attentive crew. There to help when needed - I loved the talk given by Jess learning about the marine life. Be aware, some sea sickness could occur, depending on wind conditions, so best to take medication ahead of the trip. The lunch was delicious and I had a great trip. Overall an amazing day at the reef!

Wonderful day on the reef

We had a great day on the outer reef. This is really where you want to experience the Great Barrier Reef. Here you see the huge corals and tropical fish. We took the beginner diving lesson, and our instructor Michael was helpful, confident in his ability to keep us safe, and also patient with the students who were nervous. Doing my first ever dive here was an unforgettable moment. The snorkeling was also great, you could see everything in detail from the surface as well. The only bummer on our tour was the staircase to the water malfunctioned and we couldn’t complete the 3rd snorkel site. But the company is offering a partial refund to make it right. Overall a great experience, and we’d come back again if given a chance!

A great day out snorkelling with Calypso and crew

Our day trip to the outer reef with Calypso was fantastic. While the swell was up a bit and it was a bit rough heading out, the three reef sites we visited were great and the crew gave us easy access right off the back of the boat. All of the crew were super friendly and knowledgeable, every efficient in getting everyone their gear and stinger suits and kept an eye on everyone in the water offering help if needed. They provide pool noodles and lifejackets to give you some extra buoyancy (and comfort if you're not confident on the water). Lunch was good as was the fresh fruit and snacks. It wasn't a huge boat which is good for snorkelling when not lots of people. Recommended.

Wonderful adventure bring motion sick meds!

The crew were amazing. The fish were fantastic. The trip out to the great barrier reef is pretty rough. Make sure you take anti-nausea medicine and that will not help everyone if it’s a rough day and you are on that water for eight hours no matter what so, be aware. Food was surprisingly really good and it was a bucket list that I am thrilled to have checked off.

Fabulous crew and a great day out in the reef

The crew were fantastic- knowledgeable, attentive and genuinely interested in the passengers. The marine biologist delivered a fabulous presentation on the reef that was perfectly targeted to the audience. A highly recommended day out in the reef!

5 stars! Highly recommend Calypso!

We had the best time with Calypso. We did three dives at three different location on the Great Barrier Reef. They were all incredible. The boat was on the smaller side so there were only about 20 people on the boat which made our experience feel more intimate and personalized. Our dive instruction Acacia was incredible and so patient with us. There was only one other person in our dive group so it felt like a private dive. She was so knowledgeable about the reef and pointed out all of beautiful fish and marine life. They aren’t joking about the waters being rough. Definitely take some motion sickness pills, but they do provide them. Don’t let it deter you, though, it was still well worth it. They also take photos and sell them for a very reasonable price.

A fantastic trip to 3 sites on the gt barrier reef. Amazing snorkelling with guided tour and talks on board. Food and refreshments were great too. Definitely recommend

Organised, perhaps lunch could be revamped with additional options Advise people of drinks being offered but need to pay prior, along with sea sick tablets costing if required Perhaps a microphone for talks given so many noises

A great day out - very well-run and a perfect way to experience the reef.

Definitely recommend Calypso for a snorkelling trip to the outer reef. The boat was clean with enough space (55 passengers the day of our trip). Crew were very friendly and helpful. We visited 3 different sites,including a guided snorkel during the day and saw turtles and reef sharks. Equipment provided was clean and in good condition. There was a photographer onboard to take photos in and out of the water too.

Amazing crew!

What a fantastic experience! Though excited we were a little nervous as to how the day would go as travelling with my 6 year old grandson, however we felt comfortable and safe the entire time due to the experienced, vigilant crew. We experienced a few waves at the first snorkel sight which knocked my confidence, I was able to come back the boat and still enjoy the amazing views. I was apprehensive to try again but the brilliant crew picked up on this and offered to accompany me onto the reef 1:1. I can not thank Raoul enough for his guidance and positivity when guiding me out there. When confident to explore on my own, he still kept watch over me to make sure I was ok. A big thank you to him and all of the crew for this bucket list experience!

Fantastic day visiting the reef!

Thank you to our guides Claudia, Tay and Kelsey and the otehr guides! You were kind, helpful and so professional and made us feel safe in the water which was a bit overwhelming to start off with. The boat was clean and not not crowded and the instructions from the guides were clear. It was such fun and the reef was everything we thought it would be. Thank you for a great reef tour, absolutely memorable and highly recommend the Calypso Blue team.

Beyond expectations

First time dive and our instructor Ruth was awesome. She took plenty of time explaining everything and made sure our day was beyond our expectations.

Great Snorkeling Adventure

Great excursion! Staff were fabulous! Always conscious of safety etc! Included 3 different areas for snorkeling (or diving). Snacks and lunch were delicious! Wetsuits and snorkel gear seemed new!

Such a colorful reef with many varieties of large fish. The staff were extremely safety conscious and knowledgeable.

3 Reefs and an Octopus

We had a wonderful day aboard calypso with our two kids (age 11 and 5). The crew was wonderful, the marine biologist was knowledgeable and helpful, the cabin was clean, and the food was yummy. Plenty of water on board to stay hydrated. You wear a wet suit in the water, and that kept all of us from getting sunburned. Our 5 year old struggled a little with the snorkeling but by the third stop, he got the hang of it and said it was his best day ever! We saw an octopus which was by far the coolest part of the journey. Such a great experience!

Wonderful scuba and snorkel experience

Jess and Raoul were unbelievable as scuba instructors. I got really anxious at the beginning and nearly backed out, but thanks to their patience and expertise I continued and could not be happier. Incredibly safe and fun in a beautiful reef. Thanks to you both!

This is by far the best adventure I did while visiting Australia. All the staff on board were friendly and ensured we all had a good time. The lunch we received was delicious and filling! Seeing the Great Barrier Reef was a dream come true! I truly enjoyed myself as I got to see the Barrier Reef up close and felt safe the entire time. They provided us floaties which helped a lot. Snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef - an Extraordinary Adventure!

Staff to participant ratio was great; there was always someone available to help, answer questions, point out something cool and/or educate each of us. The snacks and lunch exceeded expectations and offered plenty of food for everyone. The crew included a Marine Biologist and professional photographer which exceeded expectations. Stinger suits were included and life jackets and/or pool noodles were available. Highly recommend wearing C-Bands since swimming on the wavy ocean got to many who didn’t expect it! I suffer from motion sickness so I proactively wore mine all day and enjoyed the food and all 3 snorkel/dive sites. Thanks Calypso Crew for an incredible adventure!

Incredible introductory dive experience with Noah, he is awesome. Our marine biologist gave us great info and I saw so many different species of fish and coral.

Wow! Excellent day exploring the outer reef with Calypso Reef Tours. Everything was well organised and very safe. The staff were attentive to the guests and passionate about the Barrier Reef. Exceeded expectations and I’d say definitely do this, it was a terrific day out. Special mention to Kate, the Marine Biologist who was very knowledgeable and kind. Ruth was wonderful too! P.S. we were recommended to go with Calypso by a nice lady we met in Port Douglas and I’m so happy we did. Thanks team for a memorable day trip.

Experience of a lifetime

The experience of a lifetime. I’ve always wanted to dive but a little apprehensive. Tim is a great dive master and made me feel very comfortable. The best way to sum it up is I got home and now looking for dive equipment - I have a new passion!!

Great day out

Well organised reef tour. We visited 3 different reefs and had an hour at each. Comfortable boat, not too big. Easy to get on and off for both young and old. Plentiful food. Friendly staff.

Great way to see Great Barrier Reef

Everything about the tour was well done. Crew was helpful, friendly and informative and made sure everyone was doing well in the water. Took us to three different locations to view the reef which they can choose based on day of conditions. Snorkeling was phenomenal, lots of colorful coral and endless varieties of fish. All food and snacks provided were good quality.

Our experience was amazing from beginning to end. We had 2 dives and 1 snorkel. Rena, our dive master, gave an in-depth review before we jumped in the water. This was a very helpful refresher course. While in the water, I had issues with buoyancy so she added weight to ensure I had a great experience. She is so passionate about her job, the reef and all the creatures under the water. She has a keen eye and brought our attention to many animals we may not have otherwise seen. We saw a rather large turtle grazing on the reef, giant parrot fish, eel etc. There were 8 divers so there were 4 divers to each master diver which was an added bonus. The meal was great and kudos to all the staff on the boat.

A must do experience!

Wonderful experience snorkelling three reefs. Each quite different but equally amazing. Enjoyed the guided tour of the second reef two. Staff very safe, helpful and engaged with all of us. What a privilege being able to have this wonderful experience. Lunch was good too - not too heavy which was perfect for snorkelling🪸

Amazing day on the Reef with Calypso

Our family visited the GBR yesterday and we were very impressed with the service and style of cruise we booked. The staff were fabulous and really lovely. We had a marine biologist snorkel tour at the 2nd snorkel spot, and she also gave an on board talk. It was great to hear current and relevant science based information about what’s happening on the reef (without media hype). The food was fantastic too. We loved how we got to stop at three different locations to snorkel. The variety of fish was spectacular. The reef did not disappoint! I’d previously been out to the reef many, many years ago with another huge operator and I have to say the smaller style boutique-type cruise is much better in my opinion. Loved that it was more eco than mass touristic. Thank you to the whole team who made our day so great on 22Jan24!

So many beautiful fish and coral

The Calypso crew were amazing, very professional and friendly. The snorkeling at three different reef spots was wonderful and we noticed the different sea life and corals in each of the spots. There were so many fish and other sea life and although it was stinger season, the crew provided stinger suits so we were safe.

Nice to have visited the place worthwhile

Just to be there for a moment and the rest speaks for itself the great berrier reef worthwhile and it is a very special place to visit a big thanks for the crew who have been doing this project awesome work thanks.

Great way to see the outer reef!

I took my adult daughter on the Calypso Outer Barrier Reef Tour (with optional diving). Our experience was excellent. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We did the introductory diving (I did it twice), and both times with the same instructor. Raoul did an excellent job making us feel comfortable and secure during the dives. When my daughter started feeling anxious, he was able to calm down her nerves in an easy, friendly manner. Hats off to him and the rest of the staff. I would book this tour again in a heartbeat!

Fab especially with Phoebe and the American girl (sorry I’ve forgotten her name) who both know so much about the reef & were great with any kids on the tours. Loved it

An unforgettable family experience

Calypso created an unforgettable day for my family. The crew were friendly and helpful and made us feel extremely safe at all times. The food was fabulous and the underwater photos were so good we bought the whole package! We would definitely recommend Calypso and we will absolutely be back again.
