Best sunset/snorkel cruise in the area!

We booked this cruise the day before and are so glad we decided to take this excursion! They picked us up right on time from our Airbnb, took us to the beach in playa flamingo where we got on a smaller boat that took us to the catamaran. The whole crew (Luis, Luis Jr, and Memo) were amazing and made the afternoon so enjoyable! We even saw a sea turtle when snorkeling! Lunch was great and they kept the drinks flowing. Would highly recommend!

Great Service!

This tour exceeded our expectations. Not only do you get out on the water and get to take in the scenery, the service is fantastic. Drinks were truly unlimited and included a rum punch. And the snacks were tacos! At one point, when a dance party started, the staff used their flashlights to make strobe lights. I highly suggest taking this tour while in Tamarindo.

Epic Sunset Catamaran

We had an epic time on our sunset cruise!!!! It was just the 5 of us on the boat and it was amazing! The crew was the best and very helpful!! The views were spectacular and where we stoped to play was breathtaking! We saw sea turtles and a mama and baby humpback whale!!! I would highly recommend this excursion and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

I love the attention and helpfulness of the crew. It was an extremely wonderful experience. Luis jr went snorkeling with us and caught different fish so we could see them and touch them. Great food and drinks. I highly recommend this excursion! The crew are wonderful!

Best Tour in Costa Rica

Easily the best tour we did all vacation. Crew kept us entertained with drinks and music and delicious tacos. We followed a whale pod to close out the evening. We would come back in a heartbeat!

Enjoyable “dinner” cruise.

We had a great time on this little cruise! The music was great, the staff was top notch, and of course, the views are spectacular! As others have said, it’s much more than a snack with a great dinner of tacos, pasta salad, and fruits. We definitely didn’t need dinner afterwards! Totally worth the money, even if you aren’t a snorkeler.

Awesome Afternoon

This was a really terrific outing for my husband and I, and our two grown sons. We had them pick us up at our condo which was super convenient. The crew was friendly and super attentive. The ride was great, the snorkeling was good and we got to see a lot of fish. We also saw two sea turtles and got a brief look at a whale and some dolphin. It was a long outing with terrific food and lots of great drinks. Worth every penny!

Beautiful sunset and fabulous memories!

We completely enjoyed the ocean adventure/snorkeling sunset cruise. Views were spectacular and the crew was very accommodating seeking out the best place for our group to see as much marine life as possible. We were fortunate enough to see whales, dolphins and sea turtles. Each time, the crew calmed the engines and crept up so we could get the best view possible. Again, they found a fabulous place for snorkeling and offered great advice both for our safety and to preserve the safety of the fish. Upon rebounding, the food was delicious and abundant. Drinks were served and every accommodation was made to ensure our comfort and enjoy a fabulous trip.

If you want to take a sailing trip, this is the one!

This trip was a wonderful experience for a solo traveler. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, took photos and video for me, were always ready to replace empty drinks with fresh ones, suggested fun activities once anchored, and prepared a delicious dinner buffet of tacos, salads, and assorted other treats. On the way back the crew followed a pod of dolphins during sunset for 30 extra minutes just to give us that experience. Loved this trip and this crew!

Beautiful sunset, amazing views, and lifetime opportunity

Me and my friends had an amazing time on the cruise, constantly served a variety of drinks. The staff were friendly and pleasing to the eyes. My friend went scuba diving and I stayed near the boat floating. We were able to see whales and dolphins on our cruise. The sunset was stunning, and we end the cruise with a dance part on the boat. Best cruise!

Best sunset catamaran cruise we have been on! We saw 7 humpback whales, dolphins and birds! The chicken snd pork tacos were delicious. We got lucky and there were only 13 people on our cruise! Excellent service!!!

A day to remember

This was an excursion for my mom's birthday. There was 11 people. We had a great time. Views were great. Weather could have been better. They need to explain what type of shoes you can bring and the boarding experience. Not everyone has the same physical capabilities

So much fun! Book it!

We had such a fun time on Lazy Lizard sunset catamaran! What a great experience. The shuttle picked us up from our hotel right as scheduled, our driver was super awesome and friendly. When we arrived at the beach we hopped right on the small boat that would take us to the catamaran. Once we were on the catamaran we were immediately offered beer and wine. The boat was large, clean, and nice. We had a quick safety briefing with our captain and we were off! Beautiful amazing views. They took us to a little cove where the snorkeling and lunch took place. Everything was so organized, clean, fun, and safe! We had a group mixed with all ages and it was a blast! The only thing is that we did not get to see any wildlife besides the fish, was really hoping to see dolphins or a whale. But drinks were amazing, food was great, sunset was lovely. Would definitely book again next time I am in the area! 5 stars! Amazing captain and crew and excellent value for the price.

Unforgettable Adventure with Lazy Lizard Sailing – A Must-Do Experience!

Our experience with Lazy Lizard Sailing was absolutely amazing and unforgettable. We drove nearly 2.5 hours from Nosara to Pelican Beach, and it was worth every minute. We were fortunate to be with an incredible group, and the crew did a phenomenal job making sure everyone had a fantastic time. The food was excellent—tacos of all kinds, including chicken, beef, and even veggie options for those who are vegetarian. Drinks were served throughout, and the music created a great vibe. The crew also made sure that everyone felt safe and well taken care of. We spent about an hour at a beautiful spot for snorkeling, and they provided everything, including kayaks and paddleboards. The snorkeling was wonderful, but the highlight of the trip was the breathtaking sunset we witnessed on the way back. It was simply priceless. Thank you so much, Lazy Lizard Sailing, for an incredible adventure. I highly recommend them—don’t miss out on this experience!

Beautiful and friendly staff

Even though it rained the 4 hours, it was still so nice. The food was great, the swimming at honeymoon beach and the staff catered to you. They made sure the drinks were flowing and they were fun. You are with other people on the ride but we met some great people. Highly recommend.

Not the worst way to spend half a day on the water

Given all the five star reviews, I was a little underwhelmed by this catamaran trip. There was nothing bad about it, but nor was it amazing. The trip started with a ride out to one of the giant (and impressive) rock formations, where we anchored. Then a large group went out snorkeling, which was somewhat of an odd activity given that there’s nothing to see except murky water, a lot of sand, a few fish, and (if you were lucky) a small string ray. One thing that disappointed me was that the web site advertises that the boat has kayaks and paddle boards, but even though I asked one of the crew members about this (he said this information was correct), we were never offered an opportunity to use either. After snorkeling, lunch was served, which was reasonably tasty (tacos, pasta, chips). Then we started the journey back to shore, during which we saw a humpback whale breach six or seven times — definitely the highlight of the day. During the final 20 minutes of the trip there was a heavy rainstorm and the crew blasted music and everyone joined in an impromptu dance party at the front of the boat, which was fun. I would certainly recommend this activity if you’re looking to go out on a catamaran for half a day — so long as you’re not expecting a “once in a lifetime” experience.

Great Time

We had a great time. There was 25 of us so they made our reservation private. They were very friendly and accommodating.

Fab trip - must do!

We had a great time on this tour. I went with 2 kids (17 and 12) and had so much fun. Music, great staff, beautiful scenery. It's about an hour to reach the beach and we could then choose to snorkel or swim around the boat. The lilipad was great fun for those not snorkeling. Drinks, snack and tacos were brilliant. A real party atmosphere, so much fun. We all absolutely loved it, thank you!

Perfect day!!!

We went on my birthday and had a blast! Franklin, Andres, and Paulo were wonderful and the cruise was perfect from beginning to end. We saw whales and dolphins and had some great drinks and food!

Great crew, fun trip

Such a fun trip. Josue, Luis, Stefi, all were such great hosts as we sailed along, watching humpback whales, enjoying freshly made cocktails, snorkeling and playing in the water. A great way to spend the afternoon!

Came for the boat ride, stayed for the fish and whales. …and maybe the drinks.

Seeing whales on the way out was a very fun surprise (AUG ‘24). The boat captain and crew were hospitable and very patient with our small kids. They made sure they were always happy and satisfied before running drinks for all the adults. Snorkeling and beach stop was fun and, again the crew made sure everyone was able to have a good time, no matter what you chose to do. Some great pictures and memories.

Trip was awesome. We sailed with the dolphins and saw a humpback whale. Crew was super attentive and fun. They made sure everyone was taken care of every minute of the trip. Highly recommended!

Pura Vida

Did the Sunset Catamaran in Playa Flamingo with my two children. We had an amazing time. The crew was friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time. The kids snorkeled and kayaked and we ended with the perfect sunset. Thank you Lazy Lizard!!! Pure Vida.

Amazing from beginning to end! Worth every penny and then some - highly attentive crew, snorkeling, amazing views, delicious dinner, unlimited drinks, and so much wildlife (dolphins, whales, turtles, stingrays and more!). I cant recommend this experience enough - book it and you’ll be glad you did!

Sunset Cruise of a Lifetime

We were here on a girls trip and wanted to show our friends how beautiful Costa Rica is. This catamaran excursion was seriously one of the best experiences we could have had. We snorkled and saw a sea turtle and so many amazing fish! Josua was so good at pointing things out and keeping all of us safe. I was stung by a jellyfish and while it didn’t hurt all that bad, the crew made sure I had what I needed and checked in frequently. We were amazingly lucky and saw whales, dolphins and even a breaching stingray! We had great food, great drinks and a great time. Erik, Luis and the whole crew made sure that we had the time of our lives! This is a must do while you are here!

More and better than anticipated

We were looking forward to being on the water for the evening, and we were very happy with the experience! Captain Josue was completely attentive to the passengers and knew just what everyone was hoping for. Nicolas led the snorkeling adventure and guided us to puffer fish and manta rays (at a safe distance.) What we heard would be snacks turned out to be a nice meal with salads, fruit and tacos! The drinks (w and w/o alcohol) were plentiful. Luis prepared the meal for us and it was delicious. A one hour cruise to Honeymoon Beach, more than an hour snorkeling and playing in the sea, and the trip back (with dolphin sightings!) was a lovely time with our friends and all the families who were aboard. Thank you, Lazy Lizard!

Would recommend this tour

Easy transportation pick up from hotel, catamaran did not feel overcrowded, saw humpback whales and turtles, the snorkel spot was amazing, calm and safe with lots of water activities, snack was decent, crew was very friendly and attentive, sunset was breathtaking. All in all, a great tour and worth the money.

Amazing experience

Capitan Josue, Steph, and Eric were great! This is a top notch team! The whole experience was amazing. Fantastic views, good food and drinks, snorkeling with fishes, and luck enough to see the whales! This was a delightful opportunity and we can't thank Capitan and crew enough! Pura Vida!

Best sunset Cruise in Playa Flamingo

Phenomenal experience with the catamaran excursion! Cpt. Josue and crew Papi and Luis we friendly and knowledgeable hosts. It was like having 5 tours (or more) in one. In addition to the relaxing boat ride, we snorkeled, went to a private beach, paddle boarded, and had an awesome taco, salad, fruit and drinks meal. The best part was the sunset. There is nothing like the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean. And Josue and crew timed the return trip perfectly to see it. 100% recommend 🏝️☀️

Had a great time!

We had a great time on the sunset catamaran! The entire team worked really hard to make sure we had a great time. The views were spectacular, the little beach we visited was gorgeous, and we saw lots of fish snorkeling.

Beautiful sunset tour

What an incredible experience. The catamaran brought us to honeymoon beach. This beach is only accessible by boat and is what I picture heaven to look like. The water is a tourquoise blueish color. The sand is sugar and the water temperature felt like 90%. The staff were amazing and the drinks were great.

Would go again!!

Josue, Stefi, and Luis were the best!! This was a highlight of the trip. They were so kind to our young boys. The landscape was gorgeous and snorkeling was nice. Dance party on the way back was a big highlight!!

Wonderful afternoon sunset cruise!

Our sunset cruise yesterday was one of the highlights of our Costa Rica trip! The very friendly crew goes out of their way to make sure you are having a lot of fun and are safe! They serve continuous drinks and the taco dinner was excellent! Had some rain but, it didn’t hinder our wonderful time.

Wonderful afternoon Cruise

Our Sunset cruise yesterday was one of our best highlights for our Costa Rica trip! The staff goes out of their way to make sure everyone is safe and having fun. Continuous drinks whenever you want and awesome taco dinner was really enjoyed.

Beautiful and hilarious!

Absolutely wonderful. The service Luis, Andrés, and Josué provided was fantastic. We had a perfect afternoon with snorkeling and a sunset cruise back to the marina. We got lucky and saw dolphins and Andrés offered everyone a temporary tattoo! 10/10, and would return no question!

Great time despite not great weather

Moral of this story - don't let the weather hold you back from having a great time! We had rain for 1/2 of the trip, but the crew made it fun & the food was delicious. So remember, rain or shine, let nothing dampen your fun, for the best memories are made when you embrace the unexpected and savor every delicious moment.

A must do!

The crew was wonderful; they went above and beyond providing fun vibes, enthusiasm, plenty of drinks, and great service. A great time was had by all! We were two women in our twenties but the group on the boat was a variety of ages.

The most amazing experience we had on the Lazy Lizard sunset cruise! Captain Joshua and his crew were all amazing and gave an experience to remember for a lifetime. Snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, food, drinks, beautiful sunset and dolphins to top off the cruise. Music was also on point! Service was stellar.

Tour Should Have Been Cancelled Due to Bad Weather Prior to Departure

I will start by saying that every member of the crew was pleasant, professional, safety conscious, and worked hard at making sure everybody had a good time. The reason for the 3-star rating is because that sailing should have been canceled for that afternoon due to inclement weather.  It had been torrentially raining all night and into the morning in Tamarindo, which is only about 30 minutes away from Flamingo. The bus was set to pick us up at 1 PM.  I called at 12:30 PM assuming that it was going to be canceled because of the weather. Surprisingly, the person I spoke to said that they were still going to sail because it had “stopped” raining. We are not locals, but most people would be able to discern that the rain had not stopped for the day. Furthermore, it was raining on the bus ride to Flamingo. It took longer to board  the catamaran because the waves were  bigger than normal in the marina. In fact, they asked everyone to put on life vests while on the small boat that took us to the catamaran.  We also heard one of the crewmembers say that the tour was very close to being canceled. When we departed the marina, the rain was pretty light and not much of an issue for the hour-long cruise to the snorkeling spot/cove. There was definitely some large swell that had some people a bit nervous.  Once we got to the cove, we were still able to snorkel (no mention of using kayaks).  Despite all of the rain and dark storm clouds, we were still able to see many tropical fish while we snorkeled. Unfortunately, the snorkeling was cut short because of the next round of incoming storms. While the captain prepared the lunch, there was more torrential downpour. The ocean water temperature was warm, but the downpour and breeze made it cold.  It was still pouring rain when we left the cove. Because the covered and inside area of the catamaran was completely full of people because of the pouring rain, we ended up sitting at the front of the catamaran on the way back. Everybody in the front was cold and wet. The kids were actually shivering.  The towels were soaked, so there was no way to dry off and warm up.  Unfortunately, the business decision to still go forward with the sailing, took away from the overall experience for the customers. Also, I am not factoring the following portion into my rating because it was a choice that we made. The night before the tour, I was looking at reviews (Trip Advisor and Viator) to figure out what to do with our personal stuff and whether or not there was a dry area to keep it because we knew it would be raining. During the search, I saw four separate reviews since January 2024 where people had mentioned that they got food poisoning from eating the lunch. If it were just one review, I would’ve considered it a one-off. However, since there were four, we decided not to partake in eating the prepared lunch. It looked and smelled wonderful, but again, we made the decision not to partake. We still had a fun time because we try to make the best out of every experience, but in hindsight, the company really should have canceled the sailing. I can’t remember the exact cost of the tour, but I believe it was either close to or just over $400 for our group of four (two adults/two teens). I understand that weather changes quickly, especially in tropical places like Costa Rica. However, the forecast showed rain for the whole day, and as mentioned, it had been raining all night and all day up until the time that we got picked up.  It would have been different if the weather was nice and a storm popped up sometime during the cruise. Things like that happen especially in tropical locations. I just feel that the company prioritized the money instead of the experience of all the guests.

Book now! A must-do experience!

Literally the most memorable and fun activity of our trip. It is super cost efficient and worth every penny. They fed us, entertained us, endless cocktails and the most gorgeous views. Absolutely make this fun experience part of your time in Costa Rica, you will not be disappointed! 1000000/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
