Nice trip! Saw turtles! Can’t describe. Fabulous, fantastic! I hope we can live near the island if we have chance. Definitely take the two days trip!

Terribly organized- far too many people. Hurry up and wait.

I booked this trip for two reasons- it indicated there would be no more than 29 people and they subscribed to eco friendly practices. They were way off base on both accounts. There were about 70 passengers on our boat (operated by SeaStar Similan). It was terribly crowded. But even worse was the organization of this trip. We were picked up at 6:30. I was prepared for the hour plus ride to the boat (& we were staying in Surin Beach & our driver was great)- what I wasn’t prepared for was the next 2.5 hours. We were dropped off at a very large facility, checked in relatively quickly with the number we were assigned and then proceeded to wait. And wait. With literally hundreds and hundreds of other people. And we waited for over 2 hours until they called english speakers to get the trip briefly. Then we waited some more until they called our “team” (being the passengers on our boat) and then we had to give them lunch choices and wait some more. Then we finally went to the boat around 10am. They did provide a breakfast and coffee and drinks, although the only water provided was in small plastic sealed single use cups with small plastic straws. We didn’t make it to the first snorkel stop until after 11:30. We had 40 minutes there, then went to the island for lunch. After lunch and some time fighting the crowd at the small beach taking their selfie photo shoots (probably numbering close to 1000 people), we went to Donald Duck Bay instead of the last snorkel stop to “avoid the crowd”. We did have the option to snorkel here instead of go onto the island which was appreciated because you could see from the boat the viewpoint was packed with people. The snorkeling was decent, but not exactly mind blowing. There were some impressive stands of coral & some nice fish. It was good. The last stop had better visibility & was probably our best stop. But then it was time to return. At least on the way back they offered cut fruit instead of the tiny plastic wrapped candies (the wrappers of which were later floating along with some of the crew’s discarded cigarette butts). We got back to the facility around 5:30 and thankfully they didn’t hold us hostage for another 2 hours. They provided dinner as well, but we were ready to go. Our van left at 6 and we made it home and 7:30. So it was a 13 hour day for about 2 hours of good, but not outstanding snorkeling. Would ai do it again? Maybe, but probably not. Would my partner do it again? Not a chance. Oh- and the women’s bathrooms at the end of the day were a nightmare from the onslaught of people. Half the toilets were clogged from toilet paper. Our lead guide was great, our driver was great- they’re just trying to accommodate far more people than they can really handle. We were told the company had 14 boats our with us that day and again, there were about 70 crammed onto our boat. So much for a max of 29!!

Too short time for every island

The tour was ok and staff was nice but everything was rushed and you get to spend only 45 minutes on each island so not enough time to enjoy it at all. Mainly in my opinion due to transfer & registration organisation. Looks like they book too many people so it takes too long for them to pick everyone at the hotel and bring to the office to register. When we arrived to the office from the hotel (we departed 6:40 am) we spent 2 more hours at the office waiting for everyone else to arrive. This could be better organised. As well as we could leave islands a little later (we left 3:30 pm and there was still enough time of day to stay there longer).

Well organized tour

Well organized great day. They stop at 4 islands, two beaches and two snorkel sites. Being snorkelers, we could have skipped the beaches and spent more time snorkeling. Lunch was at the last island in an open air restaurant and was very good. We took the high speed catamaran and would recommend this tour.

Clear blue waters and great tour guides

Amazing scenery and great tour guides. Nick and Arty where fantastic and shared so much knowledge. Was an amazing day out.

Ausflug zu den Similian Islands tolle Natur unter den Schatten des Massentourismus

Die Abholung vom Hotel hat gut geklappt. Das Pier zum Check in war nicht so überlaufen wie andere und so ging der Check in für die Tour sehr schnell. Alle Ware sehr freundlich. Das Frühstück war o.k. mit Toast, Marmelade, Kaffee,Tee usw. Ein Messer wäre hilfreich gewesen, wurde aber in der Besteckauswahl leider nicht angeboten. Wir haben Flossen geliehen. Es hat sich erst während der Tour heraus gestellt, dass man sich dies sparen kann, sie werden nicht benötigt. Die Crew auf dem Boot war sehr nett und Freund und hat sich sehr gut um die Gäste gekümmert. Das möchte ich hervor heben. Es waren ca. 50 Persauf dem Speedboat, zumeist Chinesen. Die Inseln sind wirklich traumhaft schön. Weisse Strände, klares Wasser. Leider total überfüllt, weil alle Boote zur selben Zeit am selben Ort anlegen. Baden und Schnorcheln darf man nur in den abgegrenzten Gebieten. Auf dem Boot gab es Getränke und Plätzchen. Das Mittagessen auf der Insel war ein Erlebnis, dass ich gern ausgelassen hätte. Völlig überfüllt. Der Fußboden war dreckig und da man die Schuhe beim Betreten des Bootes abgeben musste, sollte man diesen dreckigen Ort mit bloßen Füßen betreten. Der Geruch der einem beim Betreten des "Speisereaumes" entgegen kam ging gar nicht und es wurde ein auf Massenabfertigung ausgelegtes Einheitsessen ausgegeben für das man mit gefühlt einigen hundert anderen anstehen musste. Wenn man Glück hatte, hat man zum essen einen Platz draußen gefunden. Die Essenrückgabe war ein absolutes no go, so etwas haben wir noch nicht erlebt. Dies hat für uns die Schönheit der Inseln sehr überschattet. Vielleicht sollte man hier, auch zum Schutz der wirklich tollen Natur, anfangen von Masse auf Klasse umzustellen. Wir werden also das nächste Mal keinen solchen Ausflug mehr buchen und lieber versuchen etwas individuelles zu finden.
