Half-Day Phuket Easy Thai Cooking

Easily my favorite experience on the trip

My friends and I did the half-day tour (with the add-on to start at the food market, which I highly recommend) on our last day in Phuket. This was probably my favorite event of the trip. Tik was our guide and did a phenomenal job of keeping class both humorous and informative. The food we made was outstanding. My only complaint was we had such a big meal - there was no way I could eat it all!! I hated to leave it behind. Now that I am back home, I am definitely wishing I could have eaten it all. It gives me a great appreciation of the amount of work and ingredients that it takes to make such a flavorful meal - which I hadn't thought about when ordering at a restaurant. If I were to go back, I'd do this activity again on a different day. Be sure to check what items are scheduled to be made on the day you are booking. There are different appetizers, soups, entrees and desserts made each of the 7 days in the week. We didn't know this when booking and literally lucked out to pick a day with my favorite items that I always get at home.

Awesome Food and Awesome Time!

Lovely, private, patient and exactly what you are expecting: get to know how to cook delicious thai food!

It was very easy to book and we were writing in WhatsApp the day before about all the details. We came to the cooking place by ourselves (even if pick up was included) we could find it very easily. Lucky us another group cancelled their booking so it was a very private lesson just us two and Tik. First we want together to the market to get to know all the ingredients as well as how to make the right choices about freshness etc. After that we started to prepare everything discussed about the details, as well as about private things which it made very familiar (lovely). The meals were delicious and we hope to cook it at home as good as it was here with the recipe we get. Thanks to Tik and her helping hands - highly recommended!

So much fun!

We had a great time at the morning half-day class! Our instructor Tik was fun and informative. We really enjoyed learning about and working with ingredients that were new and different to us. We also liked that the class was very hands on and engaging. Finally, starting the morning at the food market was a great bonus Transport was also super convenient because the class provides pick up and drop off at your hotel. Overall we’d highly recommend this experience!

Tik was a fantastic...

Tik was a fantastic teacher ! The trip starts with a visit to the market for fresh ingredients. The experience is a must do in Thailand to see and taste first hand the incredible food. Will defo be back next time I'm in Phuket

Great food & instructor but be warned very primitive set up

Food & instructor great & we were easily able to prep, follow & cook 3 basic authentic Thai dishes! Delicious prawn soup, tasty Green chicken curry, Chicken Pad Thai noodles🙌Sticky rice & mango dessert demonstration was done for us as time was getting away! (allow at least an extra 60-90 mins)😊Clean but very primitive kitchen set up which really is cooking in a ‘hot tin shed’ with attached air conditioned dining, prep room. Pick up & drop off was great👍 Prior food shopping at local produce market was good & informative. Instructor speaks good English & has a great sense of humour 🙂If you want an upmarket experience, this is not for you. Best you do a class at your resort or hotel😉I enjoyed meeting other travellers & cooking with my friend. No aprons supplied though we didn’t seem to need them. Take away containers supplied & staff assistance during & at end of lesson was very helpful also👍Thank you ladies for your kind assistance 🙂

Delicious food!

A fantastic experience! Karn was an excellent teacher and made sure we had a great time. The food was absolutely delicious and it was wonderful to visit the market and learn about the ingredients.

Overall a great experience. The food was great! The market trip was fascinating. Teacher was interesting and knowledgeable. A couple minor things. 1. The demonstration room was very cold. 2. There were no aprons. We were working with turmeric and other things that could stain our clothes. 3. Timing was a bit off. Lots of time talking about the spices for the spice mix so we ran out of time and had to take our dessert home. I liked that she gave us the recipes beforehand do we could make notes as we went along. I’ll be making these at home!

Great experience and very simple recipes/ingredients. Got to go to the local market to shop for our ingredients too. Highly recommend

Good Fun Beginners Cookery Class

This was a great fun activity to try if you're in Phuket and have half a day to spare. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to meet Karn the cookery teacher. We were a small class of 5 which was great. We started off in the market where she introduced us to the different fresh produce we'd be using before she bought it then we headed to the kitchens to start our cookery class. It was all done with great humour and joking but the cooking and the way the dishes turned out was excellent, definitely aimed at novices like me but even serious cooks will enjoy. Would definitely recommend

A great morning spent cooking with tasty fresh ingredients

An excellent way to spend a morning or afternoon in phuket We were picked up from our hotel lobby on time in the morning and dropped of at the market in Rawai where we met our guide Karn. She walked us through the ingredients she was buying and gave us a chance to smell and taste the different varieties before getting what we needed for thai green curry, tom yum kung, pad thai and mango sticky rice. We then drove to her kitchen 10 minutes away and she instructed us on how to cut and prep each dishes ingredients, before showing us the cooking method by making her own and watching us copy after. Over all it was a fun and intersting morning and Karn was very informative, friendly and platient with a novice cook. Will recommend to friends and others looking for a way to spend a morning or afternoon.

Best Thai cooking class

Our teacher was wonderful.She was fun, funny and had great recipes.I cannot wait to make these at home.I highly recommend this class!

Excellent cooking experience

I had an excellent time at Half Day Phuket Thai Cooking. From the time Karn picked me up and for the rest of the morning she was committed to providing a great experience. We went to local markets for ingredients and then to her house to cook. She was great at explaining everything giving us individual attention. Karn explained everything well and I felt that this was an authentic experience.

Such a fun cooking and cultural experience!

Karn picked us up on time at the hotel and we did a local market tour to pick up ingredients near her home, of which part of it is dedicated to her cooking school. Great hospitality by Karn as we started off with tea and she proceeded to show us how to prepare the ingredients and then we moved on to cooking. Because there were only two of us, we were able to select our own menu, which was fabulous. Karn's two helpers were also very nice, even though they didn't speak much English but nothing some body gestures can't solve. Karn also took time to talk about how the ingredients were used in Thai cooking. We made a papaya salad, penang curry, pad thai and mango rice. Transfer between the school and hotel was included from Phuket Town. Highly recommended.

COOKING CLASS FUN

Such a fantastic and well organised class hosted by the wonderful Karn. Our group of 7 was picked up from our hotel the morning of the class and driven to a market to select the groceries for our lesson. Karn took us through all the different ingredients and introduced us to different types of vegetables allowing us to smell and taste (some) along the way. From here we were escorted to the kitchen where we learnt how to cook a variety of different Thai dishes. Karn was patient and very informative. She made jokes with the class and created a

Amazing chef, full of knowledge, and a great way to spend an afternoon. Had a wonderful afternoon cooking with Karn. Going to the market to pick out the ingredients for the dishes was a great experience. Cooked three wonderful dishes, including possibly the best green curry I’ve ever had! Highly recommend!

Great cooking class and market visit

The class was great, starting with a visit to the local market to buy groceries and picking herbs from their home garden. The host explained everything in detail and gave tips to apply when I try to replicate the dish back home. It was a lovely half a day and i highly recommend the activity

Wonderful class

The class was very well structured and detailed explanations were given, The hostess is super friendly, knowledgeable and willing to share every cooking trick she has. Loved the food we made and plan to cook it at home as the receipts are for dishes that are not difficult to cook when you know details needed to succeed. Would absolutely recommend this class!

Fantastic class

A really fun afternoon learning Thai cooking and lots of tips for making the perfect spring rolls and curry pastes. Karn is lovely and very knowledgeable about the flavours and techniques. The kitchen set up is good. I went on my own but had great fun with the three other people who were also booked on the class and Karn made everyone feel welcome and at ease. Got to taste our own cooking then take away what was left (as so much!). I'm very much looking forward to trying out the recipes again at home!

Book this if you want fun, easy Thai cooking

Unbeknownst to us, Karn picked us up at our hotel! Not knowing she was our cooking instructor, until she started asking us questions! She took us to the local market to pick out our cooking ingredients. Karn is very good at explaining all the different fruits and vegetables, and had us try different items in the market. Really fun! Then she walked us through each of our items we were going to cook with, explaining as we went how to cut/dice them correctly for each dish. We got all our dishes ready to cook, and then step by step she guided us through putting them all together. Her recipes are available on her website, and are truly easy to prepare. Karn is very friendly, accommodating, and has a bit of a sense of humor. I overcooked one dish a little too much, and I apologized to her. “Don’t apologize. You eat what you cook!” Highly recommend you do the morning class so you can experience buying your ingredients at the local market.

Fantastic cooking school

Way back in 2019, we had done the dinner menu with Kaan. We wanted to return and opted for the Friday lunch menu this time. From shopping at the market, so browsing through Kahn’s home herb garden, this is a must do if you are interested in learning about Thai cuisine. It’s the little tricks that make the flavour and Kaan is an expert at passing on that knowledge. Can’t wait to come back and try a Tuesday menu.

Great experience!

We were picked up from our resort and taken to a vibrant market and taught about the common ingredients in Thai cooking. Then we went to a small shop where they explained the purpose of each ingredient. After prepping all the food we went to the kitchen to cook 3 traditional Thai dishes. The food was delicious

Great Lesson with a great guide

It was an amazing experience cooking great Thai food, the guide and masterchef was amazing, very patient and funny! Highly recommended to anyone in Phuket!

Friendly, reliable, and professional.

Friendly, reliable, and professional. These are the three words that sums up our experience with Kam from Phuket Easy Thai Cooking. We felt that we understood Phuket’s culture so much more after going for this tour and gained a newfound appreciation for Thailand in general. Even though we had received western cooking training before, we were entirely foreign to Thai cooking. The exposure we gained from cooking Thai food unlocked a new cuisine for us to cook when our friends come over and we loved how easy it is to cook all the famous dishes such as tom yum, pad thai, chicken satay and mango sticky rice. We were especially blown away by the warm hospitality given by Kam that it made Phuket that much more comfortable for us.

Was a great cooking day. We visited a local market, learned much about the ingredients. Host was sooo nice, it was a very friendly atmosphere. Will book again for sure next time, so I'll be able to serve my girlfriend new thai food :).

Cooking Class

We had a wonderful cooking class that started with a visit to the local market. We loved every second of hour class and had prepared amazing fresh food

Brilliant half day and delicious lunch!

This was by far the best day trip in Phuket, even though it was an hour to get there. Chef Ghan (sp?) was a delight - she came and collected me in the morning and we chatted non stop until I left after eating the three dishes I'd cooked for lunch. Extremely full, and an excellent morning. Can't recommend this enough.

Best homemade Thai food

My husband and I absolutely love it! I think we have cooked the best Thai food! The place was clean the food was fresh and we were taught professionally.

We booked our second cooking class after our first in Italy and we were not disappointed. It was a wonderfull morning with nice people and nice food. We learned a lot and got the oppertunity to cook everything by our own. Awesome Sunday lunch

Great experience. Very friendly team. The market experience was educational.You are cooking quite a helping sufficient for a family of 4 or more. The English is good. We felt in particular the atmosphere to be fun because the guide /chef HASSAN was a entertaining and fun. Thank you team for a wonderful experience and memories. Chef Sun is the greatest!

We visited a local Thai market near our resort. We picked out the fresh ingredients for the dishes. Chef Sun kept saying his English wasn't that good but it was more than exceptional. The cooking school owned by him and his sister is small but very well suited for classes. I did the class on Thursday and would like to go back on Saturday. The food was delicious and there's plenty of it. They provide take away containers for some dishes and bags for others which is very Thai. If you're on the fence about taking this class, get off and just do it! It's well worth your time and money.

Absolutely Wonderful Experience!

I highly recommend this for anybody who is in the area for more than a few days the class was absolutely awesome. The food we cooked was delicious! I have happily been making it for the past week, and it comes out great every time! And the trip to the market was invaluable! It was so much fun and I learned so much! Now I can feel a little more at home in the exciting Thai markets. I think we will do it again. I was with my daughter-in-law and she has a three-month-old baby. Since we were the only people in the class and they saw how nervous my daughter-in-law was about leaving the baby they came to our kitchen to do it! How thoughtful! But on the way we stopped at their kitchen and it was lovely

Super fun cooking class!

We booked a half-day morning home cooking class through Klook. We received an instant confirmation, asking us where our hotel was for pick up that morning. Karn, the owner, was punctual to pick us up at our hotel lobby. Turns out we were the only 2 students for that morning class! She first took us to a small local market nearby, to show us how and what ingredients to purchase for our dishes. Since there were only 2 of us, we had a little more flexibility of what we wanted to cook. She introduced some local foods to us in the market, and even bought us some snacks and coffee to try! After the market tour, she took us back to her classroom, which was only a 10 minute drive. When we got there, her brother and her niece were there to welcome us and help us throughout the entire class!! They served us each a butterfly pea drink to start the class, then proceeded to explain each ingredient to us, and how to prepare everything. The steps were all very clear and simple. Karn’s brother then demonstrated how to cook each dish, and we followed suit. Everything was so easy to cook! We made tom yum soup, green curry with chicken, pad thai, and mango sticky rice! We got to taste and eat everything that we cooked, and we were able to pack all the leftovers as well! Karn also provided us with paper copies of all the recipes, so that we can make them again when we return home! The entire class lasted about 4 hours, and we got dropped off back at our hotel afterwards. Karn, her brother, and her niece were all very friendly and welcoming! We fully enjoyed the class, and would highly recommend this to everyone!!

Fantastic Thai food experience

We enjoyed an afternoon of learning to cook Thai food in a friendly atmosphere. After hotel pickup we went to the local market to buy fresh herbs, spices, vegetables and seafood. Our host asked us what we like, so we didn’t have to eat anything we didn’t like. The cooking kitchen is small, but clean and well set up. We prepared all ingredients first, then cooked. Cooking is hot work, but quick and fun! The food was delicious, we enjoyed everything. Tip: check the menu for each day to choose a day that suits you best.

Amazing Thai Cooking Class

My boyfriend and I booked the afternoon class and had the most amazing time! The visit to the market, the small intimate group size, the hands on demonstration and delicious food we cooked/enjoyed was beyond our expectations. I highly recommend booking this class!

Excellent experience

All the activity was really well organized. Loved the hospitality and exceptional food. The hosts picked us up from the hotel, we went to a small market and we learned about the local ingredients and spices. After that we arrived to a friendly, very clean and cozy kitchen where we cooked together some exceptional local foods 😊 I warmheartedly recommend the experience it’s a very well spent time with 3 exceptional hosts 😊 Loved it, thank you.

Well organised, came a long way to pick us up from our hotel. The small market tour where we bought the ingredients was a bonus. Good recipies and very friendly teaching. Definately recommend it whilst in phuket.

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Karn, her Brother & niece we’re lovely. Karn picked us up from the hotel, took us to market to buy fresh ingredients. As it was low season we had the lesson to ourselves. We learned how to prepare and cook curry paste, Tom yum soup, Penang curry, pad Thai and banana in coconut milk. You have a choice of menu. Karn has the menu in her car, so you choose on the way to market. Once cooked, you sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Delicious, absolutely recommend this experience with this family.

This was one of the best experiences that I have had in Thailand! I love the spirit of the chef and her beautiful family! We made some delicious food and laughed the whole time. She picked us up that morning, then we went to the local market and picked up our fresh ingredients. We then headed to the main kitchen where she had a garden in front of her house where we pick fresh ingredients once all of the prep was done we proceeded to cook. The food was so delicious and she was so informative I will definitely book her every time I visit Phuket!!!!! 🙏🏽🤗💪🏾🇹🇭

Great Experience

My wife and I recently took this cooking class. It is family run and they are all so nice! It was a perfect mix of professionalism and yet very relational. They are great cooks, and made it very easy for us to learn. The food was phenomenal! Definitely recommend this cooking class!

The best cooking lesson with great hosts

Great half day experience cooking authentic Thai food, definitely recommend to anyone in the Phuket area.. We were collected from our hotel by Karn and taken to a local market where she helped us select our ingredients. She answered all our questions about all the different fruits, vegetable and herbs we saw. We then went to her cooking space which is really well set up. Son took us through the preparation for the three dishes we were making that day, including how to chop each item and what to use as a replacement if you can’t find them at home. We got to work preparing everything, chatting to our hosts as we worked. We were really surprised how easy it is to make some of the most well known dishes in Thailand! We then moved out to the cooking area and were shown how to cook each dish. We made green curry paste which we then made into chicken green curry, pad Thai and Tom yum khun. And shown how to make the most delicious local dessert, sticky rice with mango. All easy and so delicious! We loved working with our hosts, they were so easy to talk and joke with and share their knowledge. We had a really fun afternoon. This is a great afternoon to spend learning the basics of Thai cooking, definitely recommended. Thank you Karn and Son!

Loved learning from Karen and her small team. What fun we had laughingband preparing awesome Thai food. Cooking was intense as air all happens so fast and I m a complete novice. Loved it! 😎

Highlight of our Trip

Everything was brilliant and it was even better than we had anticipated. Karn the chef was friendly, knowledgeable and a fantastic teacher and chef, the half day is relaxed and it was great to meet some of her family too. The food we made was easy and delicious, I can't wait to try and cook the same at home. Karn picked us up exactly on time as promised and tool us back to our hotel. I suggest this course with Karn is a must when visiting this part of Phuket.

The cooking class was great, i even could join as a solo traveler as i stayed near two other customers 😍😍 the cooking class was very good, we learned how to make curry paste and the taste was amazing!! The other dishes were also really good:) I really liked that the kitchen was outsise and the whole family would help with the cooking class 😊 I had to take my flight in the evening and Karn did everything so that I’d not lose my flight 🤗🤗 very helpful, kind and funny 😊😊
