Full-Day Freshwater Lake Resort Fishing in Phang Nga

Lovely surroundings but…

Beautiful place! But please note it is man made. Only caught 1 fish (an Amazon red tail) the whole time we were there, as two anglers. So that was disappointing! We paid for the day ticket with transfers. Transfers were very good and timely. Warm reception at the fishing resort. Food and drink expensive compared to 7/11 and our Phuket hotel. American breakfast is nice but we didn’t rate the burger or pizza. The fishing hut could do with some comfy chairs or a day bed or something other than plastic garden chairs and a very uncomfortable sofa made out of wood! It’s a long day here! Fishing 8-7 pm!! More comfort is therefore needed in the swim!! Very hot 34 degrees after noon and only one fan blowing hot air. Could do with 2 fans on either side of swim and cold outdoor showers, as there isn’t such facilities and it’s unbearable in the heat for such a long time waiting to catch. Overall my partner enjoyed it. I didn’t catch anything and therefore found the trip very expensive. Also note to come here you need fishing experience, as the fishing guides don’t speak any English and do not help other than with bate and netting

Great fishing

Fantastic trip to exotic 3 days in absolute paradise fishing was hit and miss but my guide Boy never stopped working . The scenery is breathtaking and facilities are great cannot rate the staff highly enough . My first venture fishing in Thailand so I was a bit green but managed some great fish . The food is lovely and the restaurant staff are so much fun we will see you again guys thanks

Fantastic fishing experience

Great location with stunning scenary. Staff are friendly and guides are very knowledgable. The accomodation is clean and comfortable and the food is excellent especially the thai food. The fishing is world class, great freshwater fishing, i caught nothing under 30kg and the larger fish i got were up to 100kg plus. Mike and his team do an amazing job and anyone wanting a great fishing experience should def consider exotic fishing thailand.

6 Stars..Trip of a lifetime

Mike just like to thank you for a wonderful experience yesterday. everything was just perfect your resort, staff and attention to detail is second to none. Myself and my 2 teenage sons all ended up catch some cracking fish, the pick of which was a 100lb Chao Phraya catfish which my 16year old son battled for over 45mins. We’ll definitely be back and hopefully will be able to book in and stay at your fantastic resort for a number of nights.

Absolutely amazing place to come and fish. The staff are super friendly and helpful cant do enough for you. The lake and scenery are just stunning its paradise. The accommodation is great everything is great. The guides are super helpful and everything you want to eat and drink is brought straight to your swim. Managed to catch a fish of a lifetime thanks to the guides help. You need to come here to fish stunning

Make sure you visit this place

Fished here for one day with a friend this week. This was by far the best fishing experience we’ve both had. Mike organised us return travel from Phuket although we would definitely stay on the next visit. The fishing was out of this world made even better by the wealth of knowledge and help from Mike’s guide. We managed numerous fish including multiple arapaima, Siamese carp, red tail and chao phraya catfish, pacu. The guides all do a great job handling and caring for the fish. Food is 10/10 and the lady calls around the pegs every hour or so bringing soft drinks and beer as required. Do not miss this place, Mike and Neil both great guys.

One great experience

Third visit to EFT and all were first class. We'll done to Mike in getting SHA+ certification to allow us to visit the resort with test and go. Place is fabulous, fishing is first class, accommodation and restaurant are firstl class. All the staff and guides are so friendly and good. Recommend this to anyone who fancies a good relaxing holiday and fishing

Another great stay

Visited EFT for the second time staying for 3 days fishing and 2 nights accommodation. Stayed 19,20,21st March 2022.Rooms are excellent with great views over the lake and mountains. This really is a stunning venue. My aim was to catch something everyday and hopefully land a nice Siamese Carp. Within 10 Minutes of starting I’d lost an Arapaima, however 1st fish landed was a lovely Siamese at about 37lb...well chuffed. Went on to land a total of 9 fish on day 1. Including 6 Red tail to 35lb and an Aligatot Gar. Day 2 a little slower got 2 more Red Tails an Aligater gar and 5 minutes before time up at 7.00 off went the buzzer and landed an incredible Siamese carp weighing in at 72lb..over the moon, what a fish. Day 3 started a little slow again,and lost 2more Arapaima,however finished with 2 nice Red tails, 2 Alligator gar another lovely Siamese at 52lb a Salawene at 55lb a 42lb Wallagro Leer,think that’s how you spell it, so another 7 fish on the bank. In total 20 fish landed in 3 days and a few lost. A brilliant stay, can’t wait to go back, if you are thinking of going you will not regret it.

Monster fish!!

We had 4 people in our group, husbands and wives. Mike made us a great package deal with fishing and room combined, including van pickup from Phuket Airport. Fishing was incredible from start to finish, nonstop action, longest time we went without a fish, was 30 minutes. We caught 35 fish total for the day including 4 Aripima, 4 Alligator Garr, Redtail catfish, Albino Pacu, Ripsaw catfish, Asia Carp and Tambaqui! Rooms are top notch, very comfortable bed, and couch to relax on after a long day fishing. Will most definitely be going back in the very near future! Thanks Mike for an incredible experience!

Excellent Fishing Trip

Had another amazing trip to EFT. Mike and his team are very friendly, helpful and hospitable. The fishing was out of this world, I caught 168 fish over 7 days fishing with the highlights being 130kg Mekong, 12 Arapaima between 50 -90kgs, Chao Phraya to 50kg and 20 Siamese Carp to 35kg to name a few of the fish caught.

Amazing scenery and exotic fishing

Amazing scenery, food was great, rooms were good size with nice aircon and beds. Kids loved the pool with the joining swim up aquarium. My wife especially loved the food and also enjoyed the Thai cooking class. We extended our stay for an extra two days we all had so much fun. The fishing was amazing and I think my son is hooked for life now, thanks Mike !

Fishing and stayed for days and nights, we catch 5 Arapamia the first day and some catfish, Arapamia up to 120kg, the next day 3 Arapamia up to 100 kg, some different catfish and one Siamese carp about 30kg, the accommodation was terrific with nice rooms an a wiew over the lake,everything very nice and clean. Must be 5 stars ⭐️

Amazing Fishery

There is nothing not to like about EFT. Mike and his staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. The lake view bungalows are very clean, comfortable and have superb views. The food is excellent not only taste but presentation as well. The swimming pool area although still work in progress will be excellent once the aquarium is finished Now the fishing - WOW Firstly the fishing salas are excellent with all amenities even sunbeds in the bigger salas which was great for my non fishing wife. The guides were helpful and friendly The fishing was awesome with many species caught - Arapaima, Chao Phraya, Ripsaw,Amazon & Asian Catfish, Aligator Gar, Siamese Carp and Stingray. Thanks again Mike for a wonderful trip I will definitely be back

Great Fishing experience

First of all... WOW. What a view! The mountains, the lake, palm trees everything is beautiful! The service was really good, nothing to complain about. Breakfeast and lunch is affordable and delicious. The fishing is just amazing. I did spend 2 full days of fishing, and my only regret is that I did not booked a full week at Mike's lake where it is possible to stay at his resort with the stunning views.

Five star excellance

Having just spent 2 separate days there fishing I cannot reccomend the lake and facilities highly enough. I caught some amazing fish upto 260lb. I will definitely be making a another trip back hopefully next time will be a longer stay in the accommodation. Five stars well deserved. Jim boyle

Top fishing!

I visited mike bailleys place in phang nga for 2 days fishing and an overnight stay in their lodges and OMG! The setting and scenery is breathtaking, the lodges are pristine and luxurious, the staff are fantastic. But that aside the fishing is incredible, I had a very knowledgable and helpful guide who helped me bag 18 fish (8 different species) over 2 days, all of which personal first species and absolute monsters! Lakeside food and drinks service all day and the food is excellent. Ideal for solo or group fishing, very relaxing atmosphere. If you come to Thailand and only fish one place, do yourself a favour and make sure it is here! A+ 😊😊😊

Amazing Trip! So Going Back

Spent 3.5 Days at EFT, Mike and his team are fantastic, the accomodation is top notch! The guides are excellent and work hard to make sure you have the best time. The food is high quality and cheap and I was impressed with all aspects! Will certainly be coming back and bringing my family next time, thanks Mike and Team for a trip of a life time....

Awesome fishing experience in Thailand

On the first day I got here early so I paid for the half day fishing (~160usd) and caught 7 big fishes over 30kg, including Siamese Carp and Alligator Gar. I was exhausted after fighting with 7 big fishes lol Second Day I already paid for the full day from TripAdvisor and got 10 fishes in total, but I got my trophy fish - Arapaima! I got two of them!!! I also wanted different fishes that I haven’t caught yet so I asked them to Target Pacu with different bait(Laam) and I got two big ones after! Happy Man lol I also booked two nights of accommodations there...I never expected at a fishing place we can have such a nice spacious room(is like 3-4 stars hotel) and the room smells good and is super clean! They also have free WiFi everywhere and you can order drinks and food anytime while fishing. Basically I feel like fishing by the pool in a hotel LOL! I actually watched Netflix a bit while the fishing was slow. One note though - please bring enough cash there since they don’t take credit card, and also PayPal charged ridiculous fee (fee+exchange rate) which is over 10% At first I didn’t want to exchange a lot in the airport because the rate was not good (8% cut in total) so I didn’t have enough cash for my bill. Definitely lesson learned! Anyways if you really love fishing and happen to go Thailand, this place will not disappoint you! You will receive many “wow” in your IG pictures! Thanks Mike for this wonderful experience!

Incredible Place

As a non-fisher, and not really “getting it”, every time my other half goes to the lake, I can honestly say this place has converted me. The setting is perfect, we stayed for three nights in the stunning bungalows, they are way above and beyond what I expecting being at a lake. The food was of top restaurant quality- in fact the pad Thai was actually the best I had in my whole trip. And then the fish... well I had no idea what to expect but our guide Lek was brilliant, my other half and him got on like a comedy duo. On the first day 2 red tail catfish, and 2 Siamese carp- one which was massive ( sorry again I’m not a fisherman ), second day a Pacu and Tambaqui, then 2 ( yes 2 ) arapima that weren’t landed. The third day saw another redtail and Siamese carp. It was such a fantastic 3 days, I’ve completely learnt very quickly why people would want to go half way round the world to fish. If you’re a non Fisher and wondering if you’ll enjoy then my opinion is DEFINITELY.

I was collected by a taxi 6am from patong the driver was friendly and on time , on a arrival at exotic fishing Thailand I was greeted by Mike and shown a useful video and talked through it I was itching to get out on to this absolutely captivating lake it’s heavenly huge rock face , palm trees and a very well laid out lake Thailands had lots of rain so I anticipated a slow day I caught a redtail and a Asian redtail in the morning the lake was alive with waving araipima but alas not hungry ones my guide was outstanding working tirelessly with fresh and plentiful baits I had breakfast and dinner with soft drinks delivery to my hut quality my day was spend admiring the beauty of this astonishing lake with 5 minutes to go of my trip my rod screamed off at some pace I’d stuck into a good Chao Phraya smiling from ear to ear I landed it in about 40 minutes making my wonderful day complete thankyou mike Bailey joy my guide and all the staff perfect end to a perfect day

The best fishing and facilities you will find anywhere!

Booking the trip was simple, I made contact with Mike the fishery owner via email who gave me a quote for a while days fishing, tackle and bait hire, a spectator and the help of a experienced guide all day! From this Mike organised a taxi to collect us from Khao Lak and organised the return for a price I could not manage to get cheaper myself despite trying with local taxi companies, as Khao Lak is around 1hr 30 mins drive from the fishery. Upon arrival at the venue myself and my partner were taken back by the scenery that surrounded the lake, it is one of the most picturesque places we saw during our whole time in Thailand! We arrived at 8am and began fishing immediately after a short talk with Mike about ordering food and drinks to your peg and very short briefing about fish safety. We met our guide at the org who organised everything for us, we set our sunbeds up in our sheltered area and began to relax and wait for the fish to show up. After a short wait I caught my first fish, a fish of a life time really for an English match angler like myself, a 35lb Asian retail catfish, an amazing fight led to our guide taking even greater pictures of myself and my partner in the water with the fish. This followed shortly after with the greatest caught of my life time and could remain that way until I return to Exotic Fishing Thailand again in the future. After a crazy run of the bait runner I picked up the rod and connected to a fish like I had never felt before, I was given a fighting belt (which was needed!) and the 20 minute fight began! After nearly been pulled unto the water numerous times our guide managed to land the Siamese carp, a fish like I have never seen before a 70lb Siamese carp a fish of a life time! As a match angler and someone who had only fish like this on the television it turned my holiday into a trip of a life time and one I will never forget! After a quick flurry of fish early in the morning we settled for a few lagers and some food (which was the best western food we had during our travels in Thailand) my partner has an arapaima burger, this was unbelievable and something I would certainly recommend! This was all at a very competitive price and was delivered to us at our peg, excellent service again! Before the session finished I had another 4 cat fish all over thirty pounds. The highlight for me watch catch an Amazon red tail catfish, the most eye catching of all of the fish caught because of it's colours an unbelievable fish and a dream for me to catch! During this time another angler on the lake had caught 8 fish, one alligator gar (an amazing fish) and the big one an arapaima, this lake holds so many arapaima you can see them rolling all day an amazing way to spend the afternoon. If this isn't enough can always feed Mike's pet arapaima (all of which are around the 100lb + mark) in his holding lakes at the bottom to really get a good view of these fish! I have attached pictures to allow you to see what the lake has to offer, as I know you won't be disappointed and I can honestly say there is now venue like this anywhere in the world, if there is I haven't yet found it! I could not recommend the venue enough and my partner who used to hate fishing has now agreed to return in the future and spend a few days at the venue and stay in one of the rooms available to sleep in. Thanks again to Mike for the service, everything about the venue is top, top class!

WHAT A PLACE!!! You must go.....!!!

I suspect there aren't many reviews on here from a woman so I thought I must write and say how wonderful this day was. It was the highlight of our trip. The most beautiful landscape, the lake is so green and the mountains so high... with the most exotic plants and flowers surrounding it. It is peaceful and quiet.... everybody should spent a day here. Mike is the owner of this place in fact he built it. He is, as you would expect, fishing mad, knowing all the tricks and all the stories you expect from a expert fisherman. He's quite a character and he and his wife go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The main building has fridges full of cold drinks and lunch is a real treat, the yellow soft shelled crab curry was utterly delicious. My son and I caught 4 fish in an afternoon - 3 red tailed Amazonian catfish and an Asian catfish... with something like 1500 fish in the lake and hundreds of species, you don't know what you will bring in - it's genuinely exciting... the arapaima feeding in their holding pool (they are the babies only 40 Kilos!!) was awesome too... I can't recommend this place enough. If you are the partner or wife of a mad fisherman and are dreading yet another fishing trip... a day here will be a genuine pleasure.... I believe they have lodges you can stay in and are building an amazing swimming pool etc - it would seem a perfect place to spend a few days. Beautiful place to fish and great friendly staff

One of my favourite and beautiful places to fish in Asia. Mike and his team could not be more helpful, and the opportunity to catch some amazing fish really adds to the whole venue. Just a gentle reminder that it’s called fishing, and not catching for a reason. There are some slow days, but if you Persist you will get out what you put in...which here tends to be some amazing species of fish from all over. I would 100% recommend visiting, but would also suggest an overnight stay and 2 days fishing to get the best out of it!

Scenic for a spot of fishing

If you want to have the opportunity to catch BIG fish then this is the place to come. Breakfast in the restaurant followed by fishing for 11 hours and dinner back in the restaurant to finish. Amazing scenic setting of the lake with large Arapaima fish rolling on the surface. Po, our guide did most of the work baiting & casting and was forever chirping 'come on fish'. Two hooked and lost (suspected Aligator Gar & Siamese Carp) in the morning with a Salween Catfish (circa 10Kg) arriving at 17.15 and an Arapaima (circa 145Kg) finally arriving after 19.00 in the dark! Once in a lifetime experience at least.

Brilliant day out fishing in the amazing mountain sided lake. Enjoyed the Thai cooking lesson too. Caught Albino Pacu and Red tailed cat fish. Our guide was great! Recommended.

Most Scenic Fishery I have ever seen !!!

I have just spent to days in one of the most beautiful fisheries I have ever seen, This is a must do if your in Thailand, Mike the owner was Fantastic when It comes to replying to emails and giving you all the Information you need to book, he even help to organise a taxi to and from the lake, When you arrive you are simple blown away by then scenic beauty and when get over that you focus on the lake with Arapima breaking the surface every where, Leck was my guide and he was a very helpful and knowledgeable guide and was just as keen as me to get a big fish, It was not the best time of year for fishing but I still landed 7 Nice Fish over the two days, Including 30kg Red Tail Catfish 10kg Albino Pacu, 25kg Alligator Gar and my goal Fish a 70kg Arapima, And at the end of the long Day you can kick back in one of the moutain bungalows and these are simple amazing, Best facilities I have been to in South east asia, Big thanks to Mike and Leck my guide you made my Thailand trip on to rember Will defiantly be back.

Simply amazing!!

My partner and i went to Thailand for 2 weeks to Koh Yao Noi, my partner had wanted to fish here before we planned our holiday so planned for a day, and what a day!! Where do i start with nothing but praise for this amazing place and staff. From the very first email with Mike the owner who was very welcomming, friendly and extremely helpful with our trip from start to finish, we had a bit of mission from where we were staying in our resort to get to the fishing location but Mike and his wife were brilliant help with emails, maps, nearby hotels and even booked our taxis! When we arrived the location and scenery is breathtaking and the welcome from Mike was friendly and relaxing with a nice coffee. We watched a welcome video about the general fishing and rules with Mike explaining along the way. We were then given a cool box, we purchased a few beers and water (at very reasonable prices) which was brought around to our swim. We met our guide Ched who we can't give enough praise to, he worked none stop all day rebaiting and casting 4 rods, i would definately recommend having a guide as there's nothing these guys don't know about this lake, friendly guys aswel. There's more lovely staff that come around the swims asking if you'd like anymore drinks/food, we had lunch which was really good and very reasonable prices again. Fishing was slow to start with us with a few bites but other people were having runs and fish so it does fish early on but in the last hour of fishing (6-7pm) my partner had the fish he was after, a stunning 155lb Arapaima! Followed shortly by a 45lb Asian redtailed catfish so we were buzzing!! I particually like the way the fish are given 5mins oxygen and rest before any photos are taken and are only out the water a very short time. All in all this was an amazing day and we plan to go back next february hopefully. Massive thanks to Mike, Ched and all the staff, keep up the first class work. Adam and Jo.

Exotic Fishing wonderland

Came here twice on two week family holiday over the Christmas period . An excellent resort with an absolute stunning backdrop plenty of large fish in here especially Arapaima and catfish the guy next to me caught a 200 Lb Mekong catfish I will definitely be back

Keeps getting better

I've been fortunate to visit several times since it opened and EVERY year there are improvements to the experience. Beautiful accommodations on site , first rate fishing swims, with steps to enter the water for photo opps and new salas. And don't miss the restaurant - amazing food , thai , Ribs, burgers ... makes me hunger writing this. THE FISHING - 33 landed , 12 species over 5 days fishing. HUGE carp over 110 lbs, Arapaima 250ish , massive Asian redtail and a variety of others . The guides were great and everyone a pleasure to deal with.

Great father - son bonding day

My 2 older boys aged 12 and 9 just started fishing and I surprised the them with a belated Christmas present during our recent trip to Phuket with a day visit to EFT. We booked their kid- friendly family package for a day. Mike was very patient with my many questions and also helped arrange for transport. Arrived after an hour's ride from Mai Khao, through picturesque roads and also encountered a herd of water buffalo crossing right in front of the entrance! Location was jaw dropping to say the least, limestone cliffs soaring from the lake. The pictures you see doesn't do justice to what you see in real life. We took turns reeling in the catch and landed a total of 8 fish, all around 5kg and above. In all fishing trips there'd be one which got away, pulling 20m of line before slipping the hook. In between catches the kids amused themselves by catching small fish from the edge of the sala with light rod and line. The largest catch came right at closing time, 25kg Salween Rita which was apparently quite rare. Thanks Mike and his team especially our guide for the day Lek. If there's one regret we didn't get a 50kg+ monster but I guess this means we'll be back one day to try.

Another FANTASTIC Trip to EFT!!!!

How about a 10 acre man-made lake nestled in the hillside of Phang-Nga province Thailand - surrounded by cliffs! Crazy right? But if you enjoy fishing "catch and release", this needs to be on your bucket list. 60 + species of fish. Mike Bailey (owner) and his team are incredible... attentive, smart, superior service... I could go on and on. This was my second trip (first one was in 2016) and I will be back again. And it's not because I caught 2 Amazon Redtail Catfish, 2 Asian Red Tail Catfish, 1 40 kilo Siamese Carp and an 80 kilo Arapaima!!!! That was just the "icing on the cake". And a special thanks and callout to my guide Ome!!!

Best ever!!!

I`ve spent only one day fishing in EFT but will never forget it. The place is just beautiful, fishing great and - most important - the staff is very kind and helpful. Thanks Ome! Have got 13 fish of 5 different species with the average weight much above 20 kg, including 40+ kg siamense carp and 40+ kg arapaima. when my daughter and her husband told me that while we were on holiday in Thailand we had been booked in for 2 days fishing at exotic fishing Thailand I couldn,t believe it as I had seen photos of their previous visit ,and had seen the size of the fish coming out of the lake, I am a person who enjoys a personal challenge, but this was way out of my comfort zone as I had never ever fished before not even on the local river, but that is where mike and his great team come into their own. they made sure I new what expect when I got my first fish on and my guide was at my side till that fish was in the net, on my first day I had 8 fish 5 of them different species , so if your on holday anywhere near e.f.t. and you like to do something to challenge yourself let mike and his team let you take away memories like I have . Fisherman's dream come true

One word ARAPAIMA! Our day at EFT exceeded far beyond our expectations. First off the resort is absolutely beautiful! We booked one day fishing but immediately regretted not booking a night stay once we arrived. The surrounding mountains and flowers around the lake make for a romantic and natural setting. The restaurant had great food and we had our lunch and cold drinks delivered right to our fishing hut. Now for the fishing... Our guide was great he made sure we had constant bait and assisted with netting the fish. We caught huge amazon red tail catfish, pacu, tambaqui, and my sweethearts dream come true a huge arapaima!! The resort is a little outside of phuket but EFT set up roundtrip taxi at a very reasonable price. The owner Mike is quick to respond via email and was very helpful and accomodating at the resort. We would recommend this for anyone who wants to catch prize fish that they could not catch anywhere else. We truly enjoyed our fishing day and wish we had the time to stay longer.

Fantastic fishing experience

We have just come back from an amazing day of fishing at Exotic fishing Thailand. The views are stunning and the location is very quiet. There are so many different species of fish, all difference sizes. If you love fishing then this is a bucket list day out. We caught a few amazon red tail catfish (55lb at largest) Paku (20lb) Asian catfish(45lb). Food is also awesome here, they give you a menu and every hour or so someone will come by and take your order. All reasonably priced. Well done to Mike and the team that made the day so much better with their knowledge and welfare of the fish! Make sure you check out Fish Park, a few aquarium tanks with different species of fish. Best 2 days of fishing EVER

If you want to go fishing in Thailand and catch fish to remember visit Exotic Fishing Thailand. From the moment you turn up you know it's going to be one of those days the mountains rising above the lake and the manicured grounds gives it that Exotic feeling. The owner Mike is a gem in the rough and I mean that in the nicest way he's a truly nice bloke. My brother in law and I fished here for 2 days and I wish it could have been longer (and it will be next time we will stay in house at one of the bungalows) we had a blast so much fun. Day one we had our wives and kids join us for the afternoon and they loved it Mike put them in one of the new fishing huts along the lake and they are nice, as for us we were catching fish left, right and centre I lost count in the end but you know you had a good fish when you have bruise from the butt of the rod on your leg and your arms and hands feel as if they will fall off. We came back a couple of days later because well it was so much fun the first time and I had to try and beat my brother in law, and yes the second time was just as good I have attached only a 10 photos because that's all that TripAdvisor will allow but I could have attached 30 to 40 and I still feel this is not enough. The guides are unreal they work all day for you getting you in the right spot on the lake catching live bait for you and generally making a good day great I had Pou and he didn't stop working for me all day, my ultimate goal was to catch an aripiama and at 6:37pm I caught it 23minutes before the day ended and this is credited to the never give up attitude of Pou my guide which is infectious thanks mate your the best. The food and drinks is great with the cook coming round all day to ensure you have enough you will never go without. And finally the care that is given to the fish to ensure they are released and then caught by someone else is great it is a true blueprint for this type activity and should be shared amongst other type catch and release fisheries throughout the world. To say I loved the 2 days of fishing is a true understatement and I would recommend this to anyone.

Bucket List Fishing

Want to go somewhere to cross a lot of fish off your bucket list? Exotic Fishing Thailand is definitely the place to go to do it! My husband, brother-in-law, and I went here for a day trip to catch the illusive arapaima and did it. We arrived in the morning and after a brief introduction we got out fishing. We were the only 3 people fishing for the day so we had the lake to ourselves. Each group of 2 people get their own swim so since there were 3 of us we had 2 swims. The minute the pole went in the water it was fish on! Over the course of the day we caught Amazon red tail catfish, Asian red tail catfish, albino pacu, arapaima, and saimese carp. There is a waitress who walks around to each of the swims so you can order food and drinks. There is a bathroom in the main restaurant.

The most amazing fishery in Thailand

G'day everyone, I'm a fisherman from Australia who travels the world to fish. I just spent the last seven days (16/4 - 23/4/17) at Exotic Fishing Thailand in Phang Nga, operated by Mike Bailey. This was by far the best fishing trip I've ever been on. I did spend some time last year at another fishery near Krabi, which was ok, but does not even compare to EFT - which I honestly believe should be the gold standard in all fisheries in Thailand. PRE-TRIP - Mike is an exceptional host, really organized, extremely welcoming and makes you feel like family, even from his first response by e-mail when an enquiry was made. Booking with him was stress free and extremely easy. - prompt transfers to and from the point of departure to the resort, with the driver arriving 20minutes early each time. As I was traveling alone and did not want anything to go wrong, this was very important to me. THE RESORT - Scenery - Amazing! Best in Thailand with the massive cliff faces, beautiful gardens, position on the lake - this is truly a fishing nirvana. - Accomodation - first class! I stayed in the newly built bungalows for the week and it was absolutely fantastic. Ice cool air conditioning, the rooms were maintained to perfection each day, comfy bed w pillows like a cloud, satellite tv (very good reception), great wifi (even around the lake) and a fully stocked minibar. This is the place to bring your family or partners. - Food - some of the best Thai food I had during my trip. Towards the end of the trip I didn't even look at the menu as I had the chef decide what I was eating each day (everything was great!) Regular food/drink runs are made by kitchen staff to your swim. THE FISHING - again, EFT should be the gold standard in all fisheries in Thailand. Good catch rates with hard working fishing guides who give 150% each day to get you onto that big one! - species caught include Siamese carp, albino pacu, albino Chao parahya, Tambaqui, soilder River barb, Amazon Redtail, asain red tail, pacu, Chao Parahya and even THREE ARAPAIMA! Yes that's right, THREE!!! Ive attached a few happy snaps of some of the fish. - unlike the other fishery I was at last year, at EFT there were no hidden fees for any additional "special bait". Everything was provided with a variety to choose from. - the fishery is well maintained where the fish are top priority. They never bring the fish onto land and they oxygenate every single fish before release. - the fishing salas were brilliant. They were spacious, had its own fan, power source, wifi, nice bamboo finish from the seating, to the tables. I've been told that Mike will be upgrading what is already a fantastic fishing sala - another great quality of his for his strive for the ultimate angling experience. - fishing gear - good quality shimano Long cast reels spooled with 80 to 100lb braid. Custom built 2.85m rods, quality terminal tackle as well. The fishing gear is regularly inspected - I did not have a single line breakage/bust off during my trip. Overall 10/10 for everything - no need to look any further guys, just go book into EFT and you will not be disappointed. Cheers guys!

Captivating, stunning, breathtaking views

Me and my husband have spent a couple of days at exotic fishing resort and it can only be described as paradise. Set in the mountains I couldn't of been happier sunbathing by the lake in our own secluded area whilst my husband pulled in some beautiful fish (with over 66 species available). For the non fisherman/ladies it is such a calm and beautiful surrounding if quite time is what your looking for (I don't fish) The food is very reasonably priced and very tasty. The bungalows are only 6 months old and I was pleasantly surprised at the size, comfort, and how clean it was. Well stocked mini bar and complimentary toiletries. The staff and owner are very helpful and friendly and can't do enough for you. Would 100% come back.

Fantastic fishing

Went to Exotic Fishing not really knowing what to expect ,have never freshwater fished .Wow what an experience ,the scenery was amazing with the man made lake right up against mountains that shoot straight up ,I caught 4 fish all between 10kg to 25kg ,the biggest caught that day was roughly 70kg and apparently it was quite a quiet day for the fish biting ,but that's fishing .Would have come back the next day but was near the end of holiday ,Will definitely be back next year .Thanks to Mike and my guide Po who was my guide

AN EXPERIENCE OF A LIFE TIME !

This if our third time at EFT and it never fails to deliver. Mike has now completed his project with the bungalows and he has pulled out all the stops. The bungalows are in a word Fantastic - as good as any Five Star hotel - they are so spacious with every amenity you could wish for including the largest mini bar I have ever seen. The bed was huge with a great mattress and we both slept like babies and what a view to wake up to, the whole lake before you and the mountains as a back drop is jaw dropping. We stayed for 6 nights and my husband fished every day - much to his delight he also caught every day. His total catch was 4 Arapaima 4 Redtail Catfish 3 Siamese Carp 1 Ripsaw and 2 Chao Phraya This place is an oasis even for non fisherman like myself - although I enjoy getting in the lake and holding the huge fish when caught for the photo shoot. I have taken the cookery lessons and it was so informative and learnt such a lot about Thai cookery that I still do the dishes at home - much to the delight of my husband who loves all Thai food. Lek our guide was outstanding always trying to get a different catch for you. I really cannot recommend this experience enough. We have already booked again with friends who have never been and we cannot wait to get back there. You will not get a better host than Mike helping with arrangements to accommodate your every wish he is a true star. We spent many an evening having dinner together with a few gin and tonics discussing the catch of the day. We were travelling for over three weeks and the best food we encountered during our trip was at EFT - Mike's menu is extensive and he is always willing to ask the chefs to come up with something different. One night we had curried crab - it was delicious and the presentation was amazing. Another evening the biggest Grouper I have seen on a plate with all the trimmings. And Mike's own secret recipe Spare Ribs - are to die for. If you are going to visit Thailand in the future - put this on your 'To Do List' you will not be disappointed.

Excellent days fishing

Superb fishing trip, Mike is a great bloke and cares and manages the fishery very well. I had a great guide for the day who helped my be top rod on the lake that day. I caught; 1 50kg Arapaima 1 60kg Siemise carp 1 7kg Black shark minnow 2 10kg Pacu and lost a fish on chicken bait. I would highly recommend this fishery to anybody who wants to caught a great variety of different exotic fish. I arranged my fishing before going to Thailand and Mike was very helpful in answering every question asked, he even arranged my return taxi which went very smoothly.
