Great behind the scenes access to the wine making process, great food at lunch. Lovely locations. Paul was so friendly and helpful. Great communication in the lead up to / planning of the tour. A lovely afternoon in the Swan Valley

Excellent tour with a really friendly and informative guide. Atmosphere was very laid back and felt like we weren’t being rushed even though we had a schedule of 4 wineries to visit. The places we went to were all fantastic, each offering something different. The wine was great and not too expensive. Overall I thought this tour offered great value for money.

Half day wine tour

Brilliant wine tasting tour in the Swan Valley. Our guide Shannon was great and provided lots of interesting information on the area. We were made to feel very comfortable with the group which meant we had lots of laughs along the way. We got to visit 4 different wineries and taste various wines at each one, with lots of information provided whilst there. It was great value for money and we wouldn’t hesitate recommending this tour and this tour company to anyone!

Excellent afternoon

Excellent tour our tour guide was friendly and informative. We went to four wineries all boutique and were looked after by each patron. Highly recommend doing this tour!

A nice afternoon tour of four vineyards. Well organised

Very good selection of wines. Three were smaller vineyards, the other was more 'commercial' and busy. It was good to have some cheese at the third vineyard, although the quantity was a bit minimal and there was no 'pairing' with the wine as such. But I really enjoyed the afternoon and would recommend it.

Hot hot hot

Private, personal and comfortable bus on a very hot day. Wineries were accommodating. Paul was knowledgeable about the local area and grape varieties.

A great afternoon tour of some of the best Swan Valley wineries

Such a great afternoon out with great company. Paul was an easy-going, friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, and the staff at the boutique wineries were lovely and helpful. The pickup location was easy to get to and we were even dropped off at the door of our hotel afterwards. Highly recommended!

Afternoon wine delight

This was our second time with this tour business . Lovely to be in a small group, lots of chat and laughter . Our guide was very knowledgeable and interacted with us all . He offered to drop us back closer to our accomodation on the way back (was on the way) but still very much appreciated. Highly recommended tour.

Very entertaining and enjoyable tour.

My husband and I chose this tour as it was a half day experience. He has some health issues and a full day is too tiring for him. Paul picked us up from our hotel and immediately made us feel comfortable. We picked up 3 other couples before we started our tour, a younger married couple from UK, a couple of girls holidaying from Ireland and 2 girls from Hong Kong. Such a diverse group but by the end of the afternoon we were all laughing and joking and having a great time. We visited 4 amazing wineries and tasted some delicious wines. We particularly liked Frank the Tank. Paul was informative and knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended for those who cant do a full day.

I can see why these guys are rated number one. Great communication between booking and being picked up on the day. Paul was an excellent host and took us to a great range of wineries that looked after us well. Excellent company on the bus with the other tour members from Glasgow. The perfect number of stops, a half day tour was just right.

Excellent Tour - Paul is a Legend

Paul was an awesome tour guide - very friendly and accomodating, easy to chat to; and of course extremely knowledgeable about the local area and the wines. Only a group of 6, so an intimate feel to the tour and no wait times whatsoever. All four of the wineries we visited had a great selection of amazing wines, and each had their own unique atmospheres; all with really friendly staff. The tour was good value for money as well. My partner and I would definitely book another tour with Paul next time we're in Perth! Could not recommend highly enough! 11/10

Superb Swan Valley

Four very different wineries and style of presentations in the very lovely Swan Valley. Lots of history we didn't know before Paul was informative but not intrusive and all arrangements and communications were super smooth. Would thoroughly recommend to serious wine lovers. Different grape varieties and blends were superb.

Great way to spend an afternoon in the Swan Valley

We had a wonderful afternoon. Six of us joined the small tour group and everyone had a great time. Paul is very hospitable and makes everyone feel welcome and included. The boutique wineries were all different, and very enjoyable. They all had a great range of wine varieties, all tastes were catered for. A great afternoon for locals and visitors of all ages (over 18). We will definitely be returning to try another of their tours. Very good value. Highly recommend.

Once in a lifetime experience!

Every winery we visited was outstanding and it was so great to get an up close and personal look into the wine making industry. Paul was an amazing guide and gave us information not only about the tour but also about greater regions of Perth as well. We really enjoyed everything about this tour and would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting a once in a lifetime experience.

even on a rainy day, the tour was informative and interesting, with some fantastic tasty wines to try at 4 different wineries. host was engaging and explained everything as we went along.

Amazing Tour!

Such a phenomenal tour! We only had a short amount of time so the half day tour was perfect, the wineries were all beautiful and quite different so it was great to be able to have such a varied experience. Paul was an amazing guide and ensured we had an experience catered to exactly what we were after. We will recommending both the tour and and wines to everyone we know taking a trip in this direction. Awesome, bespoke and reasonably priced

Incredible service, tons of options and great local knowledge - we found our new favourite winery! Shannon takes all your tastes and needs into account and offers experiences we have never had before (the 'smell sampling' was fascinating!). Suits a small group, cost effective, bespoke and better than hoped - perfect alternative (and price point comparable) to lunch out for a relative's birthday, high tea, or end of year lunch event!

AMAZING - boutique wine tour and always with something a little different.

I have been on quite a few tours with Up Close and Local and I highly recommend them. I love that each time they are different and have a unique experience to go with it. The great part about these tours are they are close to Perth so you don't have to travel down south to Margaret river etc to get AMAZING wine. They also have tours to suit everyone, if you don't just love wine, why not try to the whiskey or cider tours. Paul the tour guide is extremely passionate about the area and knows his stuff. I can't wait to jump on another tour soon.

We were picked up by Shannon from Redcliffe and had a thoroughly enjoyable Swan Valley afternoon. Each place we visited was well chosen, very friendly and we loved it. Great fun afternoon

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tasting boutique wines in the Swan Valley for our first trip Paul was an extremely affable, knowledgeable and charming host whom is passionate about his profession and made the trip effortless and lot of fun . The small group of 7 made for an intimate tour of the smaller family run wineries. Thanks Paul for the great experience and would highly recommend this professionally run your if you are in WA.

Half day wine tour

We did the half day tour whilst staying at Mandoon. Prior to the tour we were contacted to confirm arrangements for pick up etc. Paul or tour guide arrived promptly and was very welcoming. We visited four small family owned wineries and it was clear that Paul new the background and history of each of the wineries as well as the staff who worked there. He was also very knowledgeable about what wines were produced at each winery. We were really impressed with all four of the wineries, we’ve done many tours in the valley and these were mainly new to us. We appreciated the fact that it was a smaller sized tour and that it did exactly what it said, four wineries and no chocolate factory! Overall we really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to friends. A smaller tour with a really attentive and knowledgeable guide. Five stars!

Another fantastic afternoon with Up Close and Local Tours

I have been to Swan Valley many times, this has to be the best. I really enjoyed myself at the boutique wineries and they are all unique in their own ways. This is my second trip with Up Close and Local Tours and I will definitely be seeing Paul and Shannon again.

Awesome arfo in the Swan Valley

We had a fantastic half day winery tour in the Swan Valley yesterday with Paul as our driver. From the start of our enquiry, communication & up to date information was awesome with Shannon. Especially personalising the tour to what tastes we liked. From pick up to drop off with Paul was a fun & awesome time. Loved the focus on smaller boutique wineries

There was something for everyone in our group of 6. At one stage I think we were all singing in the bus! Fantastic to visit some wineries we never knew existed and I really appreciated the focus on smaller boutique wineries rather than the larger ones I've visited in the past. Paul was a charming and relaxed host, who clearly loves what he does.

Exceptional tour

As a wine lover, but not a connoisseur, this was the ideal way to learn more from passionate and dedicated producers and sample some excellent wines all under the guidance and exceptional organisation of our host, Paul. Enjoyed everything about this trip and will definitely introduce our friends and visitors for further trips

Brilliant afternoon! Contacted in advance with guide/driver name so organised and reliable - tick! Pick up from hotel and on time.Tick. Visited 4 very different wineries and just had the best time. Won't spoil the surprise and tell you where we went but each special. Thank you Paul for a wonderful intro to WA wine.

A must for wine lovers

From the time of making contact Paul was on the ball keeping us informed. He arrived on time at our hotel with just three others in the party. Our first impression was very favourable and left us confident that we'd have a good afternoon and that's just what we got. Paul had selected four of the many wineries in the Valley, all producing an interesting range of wine but more importantly all with excellent presenters. Personally I'm an experienced wine lover, quite knowledgable and found it very satisfying to be able to talk wine with young enthusiasts. A great way to spend an afternoon. It was a very hot day (around 40C in the Valley) but Paul had a cooler to slake our thirsts (water only!) and air conditioning in his van. Paul is very personable but in a quiet way and is very knowledgable about the region. The tour Paul runs is best suited to those with a genuine interest in wine and a wish to get an overall view of what the Swan Valley produces (its is one of Australia's lesser known wine regions). Highly, highly recommended

What a lovely afternoon! Paul was really knowledgeable and considerate of all of the group, ensuring we all had a super experience. The wineries chosen were really superb with great hosts to run us through their products - we even got to see wine being hand bottled! Lots of tastings, a nice cheeseboard at our last venue, we had a really great time! You definitely will not be disappointed!!

This half day with Paul was fantastic. I had been worried half a day wouldn't be enough, but we hit up four clearly carefully selected wineries and had plenty of time in each one. Great way to experience the Swan Valley, and an incredible value. Paul was friendly, helpful, and a good source of knowledge about the area. Logistics were easy and the other people on the tour were great! Would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes wine and wants to get exposed to the best of the Swan.

I really need to listen when they say you don't have to drink everything...

What an amazing half day experience for my husband and I in our first trip to Perth. Wonderful small group of lovely, interesting people and Paul was an amazing, organised and communicative host. His knowledge and passion for the industry was on show, but he absolutely let the producers and products speak for themselves. Great value, definitely drank more than I should have and had to re-jig our luggage to fit all our purchases, but it was 100% worth it. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful experience - we will absolutely be booking another tour when we're back on the west coast.

Absolutely perfect half day tour from start to finish. Shannon...thank you! Very knowledgeable and lots of fun. There were just the 3 of us on the tour so we opted for 4 wineries. Purchased too many bottles but some will return to Christchurch with us... Especially the fortifieds. Thank you for a fab afternoon out.

Very fun and educational afternoon.

We (2 of us) went with Paul and 2 other couples to the Swan Valley for a fun afternoon of wine tasting at 4 different wineries. Paul knows where to take wine lovers, gets to know what his guests like, and makes very helpful suggestions if you’re interested in buying wine or cheese. He was able to answer many general questions we had about the Perth area and the Swan Valley. His wine knowledge along with what we learned at the wineries gave us a good appreciation for the wines produced in the Swan Valley. And, we were able to taste many wines including reserve wines!
