Great day out

Great day out and well looked after by Sealink for return trip from Perth as well as the Rottnest Island bus tour company. Quokkas lived up to their reputation for being cute and happy to pose for photographs.

The Best Way to see Rottnest Island

I would thoroughly recommend this tour. A truly comprehensive way to see all of the island. The various tour guides are expert in their areas. I came away feeling like I had learned a lot more about West Australian history.

A great option

I took Pinnacles all inclusive Rottnest island tour.Ideal when tou have just a day and want to see it all;Besides being senior freindly. The pick up was spot on.The whole trip was at a leisurely pace and covered by very knowledgeable and guides proud of the history of the place.This gave me a better feel of the place as it was since the WW2 times. As promised had a good Tete -A-Tete with the Quokkas too. A sumptuous vegetarian lunch was provided for me-On the whole a great expereince. Spots for improvement would be: Have a signage at the ferry landing itself to direct clients to the train station(There were non english speaking people who struggled and were confused, though the information centre personnel put in all efforts to help them.) The public address system in the tour bus needs to be more efficient.

Fabulous Day on Rottnest!!

The tour provided pickup and drop off from our hotel and took us to the departure dock for the ferry. After we landed on the island we went to the visitor information centre and got our bearings - a visit to the local store before heading up to the bus departure point - a train ride to the gun battlement with very informative guides and lunch at the site before getting on a airconditioned bus for a tour of the island and history., We got to take some photos of Quokkas - unique to the Islands off Western Australia. The Quokka is a small macropod about the size of a domestic cat. We finished off the day back at the bay have a glass of Prosecco at the bar before heading back.

Rottnest

Would have been nice if a guide was near the jetty to give directions to the train or have clearly marked where the train leaves from. It was like it was a self guided tour to begin with. Lunch was nice, Wayne our bus driver seemed knowledgeable

Rottnest rocks!

This was a great day! We really enjoyed it. Rottnest is beautiful and so worth a visit. Our tour around the island was excellent!

It was a good tour but could have been much better.

We have been waiting in anticipation for this trip. The boat ride to the island was very good and upon arrival we had to navigate our way to the railway station. It was a hot day, no breeze on the 10 minute or so walk to the train. The train ride was interesting with great views of the island. Unfortunately the engine on the train overheated it stopped and we were stuck for over 20 minutes on a hill about 500 metres short of our destination. The engined cooled and we finally made it to the gun site and commenced our tour. This tour is challenging for those with mobility issues, indeed one member of the tour suffered a fall and had difficulty climbing the various stairways to return to the starting point. There were limited options to extract this person and it was a slow trip back, step by step with two people assisting. The alternative was to call an ambulance for assistance. The trip ultimately continued but the airconditioning on the coach was useless, it was 30 degrees C on board and the flies were everywhere. Overal the tour was good but the failures of equipment and the fall of one member cast a shadow on what might have been a more memorable day. The return boat journey was highlighted by the captain stopping the boat several times to allow passengers to see breaching whales. One mother and calf swam under the vessel, an unbelievable experience. Lastly we managed to see the quokkas in the village area, now that was a memorable experience.

Excellent trip

We had a great time on this tour. Catching the ferry from Perth had the extra benefit of a cruise down the Swan River. Commentary was excellent throughout. Seats were very comfortable. Tour of the island was perfect for a day trip. The light lunch we were provided (a chicken wrap (excellent) and a bottle of water) was perfect. Bus tour was an excellent way to see the island and there was plenty of free time to check out the local shops.

A great day out

Travelling solo and not wanting to wander about alone, I chose the Grand Island Tour and was not disappointed. The bus tour was well paced, with a great guide and a comfortable bus. I definitely feel like I’ve seen the highlights of the island and would love to return one day with family and friends to explore via bike.

Beautiful Island, lots of birds and adorable Quokkas!

OMGOODNESS! Great day! Great trip! The bus ride, while we had an informative and fun driver, was a bit disappointing. I get that to cover the whole island in one afternoon you have to keep moving but we just drove by most of the sights or if we did stop we couldn't get out of the bus and had to take pictures out of the window. I was lucky I was on the left hand side of the bus so was on the side facing the water and had the better views. Not the drivers fault...and he did his best to make up for it with lots of interesting information and stories about the island.

Sealink to Rotto

Wonderful service from the start. The young lady who helped us with ticketing at Freemantle docks was very knowledgeable and assisted us to choose what was best for us for a full day on the island. When we checked in at Perth docks, the lady there was very helpful in assisting us with how we could return to our unit at the end of the day. The crew on board were amazing. Literally running to assist those who were sick due to the water conditions, offering icy poles to everyone to help us all feel better and kept everything on board clean and tidy. Highly recommend this company.

Excellent tour

This tour included: - river cat from Perth to Fremantle (8:30am) with commentary - transfer from Fremantle to Wadjemup - full day bus tour around entire island with excellent commentary by bus, plus train through middle of island to Olivers Hill Guns with tour - delicious light lunch of chicken salad wrap, cookie and bottle of water. - return Wadjemup to Perth (6pm) It was a perfect choice due to the changeable weather that day. Those riding bikes couldn't get far due to winds and rain showers. Simple online booking. Good job, Sealink.

Fantastic day. Theonly thing was thebus driver did not stop to let us take photos. However, great xomentary.

Fabulous all-round day out

Great pick-up from Perth's Elizabeth Quay made it so much more accessible for us. Boat trip along the Swan River was beautiful and the crew were on deck to answer questions as we went along. They even brought round ice-lollies just before we were about to hit a bit of rougher water to help with sea-sickness. Arrival to Rottnest was a little chaotic with people waiting to board the ferry clogging the jetty for those trying to get off. Also a bit difficult to know where we had to go to meet the bus for our tour (the markings on the floor were very sun-faded!) The bus tour was interesting and I liked that our driver stopped along the route and opened the doors for us to get clear, unobstructed pictures. He was very informative and interesting about the island, the people and of course, the local wildlife! Our bus tour ended, we were handed our lunches (bottle of water, a very well stuffed wrap and a cookie) and dropped off ready to board the train up to Gun Hill. Here were had a tour of the tunnels and the gun area which again was interesting, but it was a little confusing as they had 2 volunteers doing different tours and the bag drop area was crowded so made a big muddle! Train ride back down to the settlement and then we had about 2 hours of free time to go Quokka hunting, shopping, get some food or drink (the bakery does awesome cakes, but after about 3pm there's not much left!) 4.30 ferry straight back to Elizabeth Quay. Really interesting but tiring day - you could go to Rottnest and hire a bike to go round the island - but there's a LOT of hills, not much shade and to be honest, you don't get half as much information as we did on the bus!!

More than a tourist tour.

Great trip, excellent commentary down the Swan river. Rottnest Island bus tour a rush round the island - one stop 15 mins at the far end. No lighthouse stop - brochure advertises one, bus too big to access. Train trip ends at station - walk back to town - not disclosed on advertising - temp 35 deg. Oliver Hill gun history tour well worth the visit. Time for a relax before the ferry back, saw a few Quokka's. Expensive tour but full tour once over lightly.

very good but bus needs to stop more than once.

Took the ferry from Perth - enjoyed commentary on way over. Round the island bus tour was interesting but only stopped once in 90 mins (for a 10 min walk boardwalk lookout) Disappointing we did not get out at the lighthouse. Train and tunnels tour excellent - volunteer guide was very good. We were given a packed lunch - chicken/salad wrap, cookie . bottle of water which we ate on the train. Then enjoyed free time at the quay - shops, quokkas, beach time before return trip. Good way to see Rottnest in a day if you dont want to bike ride.

Very disappointing

The bus tour was terrible, there was only one chance to get off the bus to take photos, and that meant a 600 metre walk and only 10 minutes to do it. The driver mention the name of each cove as we flew past, but there was little historical info, we drove past the cemetery yet there was no mention about it. The driver was late meeting us, and was distracted communicating with others from the company. The train ride never happened, apparently this is normal so the 2 hour portion of that part of the trip ended up being 1 hour as a bus took us directly to the gun and tunnels. Pick up from my hotel was offered, but only after I booked and paid was I informed that I would not be driven back from the dock to my hotel at the end of the day.

Visit to Rottnest Island

We had an excellent driver on the tour bus. He was very informative. It was a shame the train was not working up to Oliver Hill but it wasn't a problem. The visit to the gun station was interesting. The quokkas were super cute

Island Drive

Tour was comprehensive, unfortunately we were delayed starting due to a couple being late, so we did not stop at all points along the way. Guide was knowledgeable.
