Beautiful day in Versailles Palace & Gardens

Versailles Palace was very crowed which was challenging for the participants and particularly for the guide. Nonetheless Amélie did an excellent job of describing the history of the times and the personalities of the royal family. The gardens were so very beautiful. Thank you/Merci Amélie!

Spectacular paintings, mirrors and gardens

Valerie was our tour guide she was very knowledgeable and made for a great guide! The gentleman who met us on the train was also great we really enjoyed the ability to leave when we pleased we ended renting a golf cart and made some friends on the tour what a fabulous day to end our France leg of the trip !!

Good tour and knowledgeable guide in Versailles

The tour was just as promised. All went well. We were met at meeting spot by someone who ensured we made the train (RER) to Versailles and made sure our group met our tour guide there

Great Tour Leader

Manuel was a great tour leader, we learned so much from him. Tour was well paced (at least the part he could control). He had a great sense of humor, and made us comfortable while leading us through the house and gardens. Aiden did a great job of gathering us together and delivering us to Versailles. The tour was definitely worth the price paid.

Can't take bad photos there

A must see top 5 attraction in Paris. I was reluctant as it's 30 min from Paris, but totally worth it.

You won't regret doing this tour

Violette the guide at Versailles and Andre the chaperon from Paris centre were extremely professional and friendly. The booking states train tix from Paris centre to Versailles but we ended taking a chartered mini bus instead, which is very appreciated. Violette is extremely knowledgeable and took us around a wonderful and informative tour of both the palace and garden grounds. Highly recommended tour which I would definitely repeat in a heartbeat!

Definitely worth a visit!

Pros: the Palace and gardens are beautiful and a must see, the last entry time was good as to not feel so crowded (dont get me wrong, there were still definitely crowds - we waited in one bathroom line for 15-20 mins!). Easy comfortable transport from Paris to Versailles. Tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Not so great: there were 2 people in our group who were late, so we waited for them before leaving Paris (reasonable, but they still didn’t show); then we had to wait again for them at the palace as they found other transport… then wait again when they didn’t show up that time either. I’m sure those guests appreciated all the accommodation, but the tour co could’ve done more for those of us who lost a good chunk of our tour time waiting for them. Also not so great was the tour guide was at times hard to understand. None of this should prevent you from going though - we saw what we came to see, learned a few things, and have some great pics and memories!

Great tour with a great guide

Hugo was the most fantastic host for this tour of Versailles! We started in the gardens and then toured the palace - our guide was so knowledgeable and funny which made it a highlight of our vacation. Perfect amount of time for a tour and extremely well organized. Highly recommend and I hope you get Hugo! He’s amazing!

Cool Tour!

Pretty good tour. I wished the tour went into the issues with the Kings and Queens a bit more. This tour felt a bit rushed.

Versailles with Adam

Team Adam for life! We were lucky enough to have Adam for our tour of Versailles. He was hands down the best tour guide I've ever had, anywhere. He should seriously do a podcast with all of his hilarious and thought provoking stories of Versailles. Our tour was entertaining, informative, and he got us all the best spots in all the rooms, away from the other 'peasants'. He also graciously offered to take pictures for everyone on the tour. Booking the last in the line tour also allowed us to see Versailles without the packed crowds you normally see in pictures. This was one of the highlights of our entire trip and if we ever return to Paris I would love to take a tour with Adam again.

Don’t visit Versailles without Adam!

Adam was the most knowledgeable and entertaining guide I’ve had on this visit to Paris - and probably ever. He guided us through not only Versailles, but the complicated, juicy and sometimes very sad lives of those who lived there. I cannot recommend him highly enough - he really spurred my interest in reading and learning more about this period of French history. Don’t visit Versailles without Adam!

Adam. Wonderful.

Simply glorious; our tour guide, Adam, was a...maz...ing. A consumate raconteur; a wonderful navigator of the goings on both within Versaille, and through the history of the surroundings and the wider historical context. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Amazing tour guide and an amazing tour.

I knew at the beginning that Versailles was going to be an amazing trip but I didn’t know it was going to be as good as it was. We had Adam as our tour guy and he was absolutely amazing. He explained so much about the French Revolution and French history a lot of it I didn’t know. He waited till right before the museum doors closed to show us the best photo opportunity and he also took the best photos. Adam is an amazing tour guide he made this tour of Versailles heavenly. Adam would make any tour ten times better. He could make the worst tour ever into an amazing tour. Well done Adam!

A wonderful afternoon exploring Versailles

The tour is very well organized. Kaithlen our guide was on time and very friendly. When we reached Versailles, Adam took over. An amazing knowledgeable funny and punctual guide. The tour itself is perfectly timed and very informative. Can’t recommend it enough!

Incredible experience at Versailles and the gardens

What an incredible experience. Half the fun was having Adam as our tour guide; he was extremely informative and interactive, which made the tour that much more interesting. We spent about two hours in the garden (worth it!) on a very hot day, before heading into the Palace, so I recommend bringing sunscreen and plenty of water. Both Adam and Caitlin were very helpful with helping me navigate my way home after the tour. And if you're a solo traveler, fear not as Adam is very good at taking photos.

Versailles made extra special by guide Adam

Guide Adam incredibly knowledgeable and very entertaining. Gives detailed historical background along with royal gossip and pop quizzes. Gives all the Versailles Tea with a side of Shade. He enjoys what he does and made the tour memorable. Other guides were asking him for advice along the way. Would request Adam by name, and go on a day when fountains are on. Don’t miss the outdoor ball room. No other guide will do.

Unbelievable Catecombs Tour with Katelyn

The Catecombs are such a can’t miss experience in Paris and consider yourself very lucky if you get Katelyn as a tour guide. Katelyn, clearly has had the experience and talent to make a history tour captivating for everyone! Give her a raise Walks, because I think she has to be one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had in Europe (and I’ve been to Europe 7 times). Her humour is amazing and she had amazing details and stories. You can tell she perfected this tour. For anyone taking this tour, just know that it is air conditioned down there (for a special reason you’ll learn about) and on hot days it will drip from the ceiling. Just wear good shoes for the mud and know that there are over a 100 steps to get down there. You’ll only see a fraction of the cities Catecombs but it’s 110% worth it. Book this tour since it is highly likely all the tickets will be booked for your trip. It’s so popular you have to book ahead or else you’ll be disappointed you can’t buy tickets for weeks. P.S. Excellent experience

European History Comes to Life

Adam was our guide and that became the best part of the experience at Versailles. The palace admits 60,000 people per day, so our group toured the gardens first, then went into the palace as the crowds thinned. Adam did a wonderful job giving our group a history of the palace, what it looked like in the 1600s vs how it looks today. Adams gave an impressive tour and explained the European history without making it boring. Earlier in the day, we also used this company to see the highlights of the Louvre, and Adam was our guide there as well. We were especially happy when we realized he was our guide in the Versailles afternoon tour. If you're lucky enough to have Adam as your guide, you will be pleased!

Fabulous Tour but major crowds

Guides (Lillia and Gemma) were excellent. Gemma got us there and was pleasant. Lillia was very knowledgeable as a past history teacher and was very well spoken and polite. I will say the last tour sfter the crowds is inaccurate at best. There were lines to still get in when we arrived and even when we finished with the gardens prior to the château tour at 4:30. The gardens were packed as was the château tour. I have not been early as this was my first time, but I might try an early entry next time right when it opens to get the best experience.

The perfect tour of the Palace of Versailles, including the gardens

This was a wonderful experience from start to finish! The tour company sent Katelyn (sp?) to accompany us on the metro from Paris to Versailles, so we knew that we wouldn’t take the wrong way and get lost on our way to Versailles. That enabled us to just relax and enjoy the experience completely! Katelyn was very knowledgeable and personable, having lived in Paris for 5 years now. When we arrived in Versailles, Katelyn walked us to the palace and delivered us to our tour guide Violette. We started our tour in the beautiful and expansive gardens while Violette told us all about the history and design. At 4:30, we entered the palace, for the last entry of the day, where we saw everything we wanted to, with almost no one else there!! I don’t think our visit could have been planned more perfectly!!! Violette knew so much and shared so much about the history and the former occupants of the palace that I almost thought she had lived among them! She told little anecdotes and offered to take pictures of the tour members in the gardens and palace for all who wanted pictures. I don’t think anyone could have expected anything more and I will treasure this experience forever! If I’m ever searching for another perfectly planned tour when we’ve traveled to France on our own, I will search to see what this company offers and hope that we are lucky enough to have Katelyn and Violette as our tour guides!

Perfect 10 out of 10. Overwhelmingly positive experience!!!!

Our entire tour of Versailles was perfection from beginning to end! We met our contact for Walks tours on time and everything was taken care of from there. Maëlys was wonderful to speak with and incredibly friendly. She introduced us to our guide, Violette, at the gates of Versailles and answered every question we had!! Violette conducted us through the Chateau and Gardens, explaining everything in fresh, vivid detail. Her knowledge of Versailles was intimate and every story and detail of the tour was well crafted. She was happy to answer any and all questions and took wonderful photos!!!! The fact that we entered Versailles near closing time meant it was nearly empty so the tour was uninterrupted and magnificent. I can not recommend this tour enough. Perfect 10 out of 10. Overwhelmingly positive experience!!!!

Best tour choice to visit Versailles with Violet!

It was really a great choice to choose this “last entry small groups after the hours” Versailles tour! Not just it was less people, at the majority of times (also probably due to Covid), our small group of 6 people was really the only group in the room! But the real highlight of the tour was our amazing guide Violet! She was so knowledgeable, personable and fun! We learned so much from her during this tour, and she made it so spectacular! Thank you Violet!!! Hope we can see you again in future tours!

Versailles is only Versailles without our Guide

What can be said about an amazing place, experience, and more so, going through Versailles gardens and palace with Violet. No offense to any other guides ( we have taken quite a few walks and the guides have been amazing) but Violet will forever be the highlight of our trip to France. Words will never describe the wealth of knowledge and love of Versailles you feel from her when going on this tour and she makes sure by the end of it that you learn as much as you can in a short time and love it as well. She provided an afternoon we will never forget, and most of it had nothing to do with physically being there, but enjoying it with someone who who has a passion for the history and details that she emits. We only wish that on any tour going forward, no matter where, she would be there with us to make those experiences as special as she made Versailles for us.

Fascinating Versailles tour

We had a fantastic experience with our guide, Adam. We arrived knowing pretty much nothing about Versailles or the monarchy in France and left with a deeper knowledge of the intrigue of the court (and also quite a bit of gratitude that we aren't living then). We were lucky to have booked a weekend tour and the fountains were in operation. Adam guided us to the most impressive spots, so we were able to catch the action (and get some great photos). The palace was practically empty, thanks to COVID, and it just added to the experience!

Awesome experience with Adam

We had a private tour with Adam & he was amazing! He had so much information & was so interesting. You could tell he loves what he does. It was an awesome tour & we learned so much. He even kept our 19 & 15 year olds attention! He was also really funny. I would highly recommend requesting him on your tour!

Fantastic!

We have done tours with Take Walks before and they never fail to deliver and this tour was no exception. Great timing at the end of the day so less people in the palace. Our guide, Adam, was exceptional. He gave us a huge amount of historical information, delivered in an entertaining way and made relevant to all the things that we were seeing as we walked though the gardens and palace. His enthusiasm meant that even if you weren’t a history buff you would be enthralled by the story of Versailles and the French monarchy that made it their home. Thanks Adam and Take Walks for a fabulous tour!

Great Tour!

Violet was amazing. I learned so much from her. She paced us well, told excellent stories amongst her history lessons. Without her, the experience would have been okay, but she really brought the palace and gardens to life. I’m not sure about the ‘without the crowds’ part of the title though. Oh, my goodness, I did not enjoy being pushed and jostled around in some of the bottle necks. Seems they need to do a better job limiting visitors inside the palace at one time.

WOW! What an amazing experience!

Getting to tour Versailles when the crowds are at their lowest was a very special experience. This is not just a "skip the line" tour that competitors offer, it is a way to try and get the best experience possible near closing time when crowds are at their lowest. This is especially worth it during the summer when tourism is at a peak. I did a total of seven tours with "TakeWalks.com on my European adventure (all were randomly booked on a 3rd party site). I can say the quality of the tours with this company far exceed the other companies I booked other tours with. Adam (who I had the pleasure of touring with a second time at the Louvre) was especially memorable. He has a creative and humorous way of presenting historical material. We had moments in the gardens in a downpour of rain. The few people touring the area left because of inclement weather and got entire areas of the gardens to roam all to ourselves!! What a special experience! The Palace is simply breathtaking. Something I will never forget!!

I was anticipating heavy crowds, but to my surprise it was perfect. The Hall of Mirrors was exceptional light that day which made it perfect for photographs. Adam our tour guide was outstanding! Team Adam: A Winning 'Last Entry' Formula

An amazing tour led by a truly entertaining and thoughtful guide - Adam! Taken by coach from Musee D'Orsay, we entered the Versailles Palace gardens without fuss or incident with virtually no waiting time. The walk around the gardens was memorable for the spicy anecdotes and insights into the 107-year history of the Palace. Our entry to the 'castle' itself was quick - amazingly so! I think the tour struck a great balance between giving participants a taste of the best Versailles has to offer, but without the crowds. Some of the more popular rooms were nearly deserted late in the afternoon. The 'last entry' approach is thoroughly recommended for those who want to avoid crowds (our visit was a Thursday).

Go on days you can see the musical fountains.

1. Be prepared for transport with RER, long enough walk to the Palace&Gardens. 2. Take quality earphones/headphones with you. Those provided by them are of bad quality. 3. Ask for the return ticket, on the RER, from your attendant. Just in case. You can loose the group or the guide/group can loose you. We had suffered it. 4. The Palace will be crowded, in small rooms overcrowded. 5. Take pictures on the go. You will have little time to look to everything. 6. Have a foldable umbrella and raincoats. You will have to walk to and from the train station on foot even if it was raining. 7. No time to shop. I wish you luck with your guides. We had a terrible guy to/from the Palace and a very good one in the Palace&Gardens. HAVE A GREAT TRIP!

After using many tour groups - this one was the BEST!

I can't say enough about this company. I have taken guided tours of the Palace at Versailles twice.... and tours of other landmarks countless times. The other tour companies load people onto buses, then talk through a headset while the group tries to follow guide with a flag. It was hard to enjoy these tours when I was constantly searching for the tour guide and elbowing my way through a crowd to keep up. This tour was refreshing. Lilly met us at the Musee D'Orsay and took us on a train to Versailles. She was absolutely lovely and wonderful with kids! She texted our tour guide (Violet) to let her know when we would arrive. We stopped for the toilettes, had a little snack, and leisurely met up with Violet. We didn't feel rushed at all. We were super lucky in that my daughter and I were the only people in our tour group. Violet is so knowledgable about history and art. She tailored our tour specifically to us, focusing on the monarchies and leaving out some of the more colorful history that wasn't suitable for children. We lingered in the gardens, and took our time going through the palace. Violet found nice places for us to sit when my daughter needed a break. It was such a better experience! Lilly met us at the end and took us back to Paris on the train. This tour cost the same as the big group tours - I can't imagine why anyone would chose a big group tour over this! Highly recommend!

Our guide Adam was great but the tour description was inaccurate

This has overall been a very enjoyable tour, as our tour guide Adam is very knowledgeable yet entertaining, and I certainly learnt a lot from the tour! Another good thing about the tour is that it truly allows you to skip the queues. That being said, what I am less than satisfied is however the fact that the tour description was misleading. I picked this tour because it provides for minibus transport to and from the Versailles. Therefore, imagine my surprise when I was taken to the RER station to take the train! If I was willing to take the RER train then there are a lot of other (cheaper) tours. This is my sole complaint for this tour which was otherwise very enjoyable.

Amazing tour of Versailles!

The best way to see Versailles for the first time! Our guide Pauline was fantastic, very friendly and personable, even took photos for everyone! Her tour really helped bring Versailles alive and kept us listening intently the whole time! We were met by Walks representative Iris in Paris and taken via train to Versailles, making the whole trip easy and stress free. Iris was very friendly and helpful, we enjoyed talking with her. Excellent tour, exceeded our expectations by far!

Best way to see Versailles with a great guide, Thank you Adam

If your going to Versailles and dont like crowds take this tour. Left Paris at 2PM and enjoyed an amazing 4 hours with this excellent guide around the gardens and Palace. Adam really knew everything about this place and we learnt so much in his company about Versailles and the French revolution. His style is witty and engaging and he brought the history and the goings on all to life. Once again a small group, 11 only on the tour and we highly recommend this company for there guides and tours. Versailles is a must see when in Paris. The Hall of Mirrors was breath-taking.

<p>My wife loved the gardens and I found the guide highly informative. The route is the reverse of what many people do you start in the gardens and work your way to the front but that means that when you get the best rooms of the Palace they are very peaceful.</p>

Best way to see Versailles

I love using Walks for tours - I have used them in Italy and France and they are a great option. You get to see the highlights of major sights without the hassle of figuring out how to get there and when to go. Plus, the guides are all quite amazing. They are passionate about the history of what they are showing you and can explain what you are looking at in so much detail plus answer all of your questions. Hugo took us through the gardens and the palace toward the end of the day when the crowds were down then had us back in the city just in time for dinner (which he gave us a recommendation for).

待ち合わせ場所がバス停になっていて早めに待っていたが実際はバス停より一本裏にガイドさんが立っていた。たまたま気がついたから良かったが乗れなくなる所だった。英語ガイドだったので自分は要所、要所しか理解出来なかったが英語が出来る人は良いかと。
