Best Tour Guide Ever!

We loved meeting Nkay (sp?), our guide, and we’re very impressed with her knowledge of the area. My husband always has a million questions, and Nkay answered every one. The group was nice and small, and Nkay paced us properly to make the climb up the hill to Sacre Coure easy and fun. Along the way, she pointed out interesting sites and provided in depth explanations of their historical significance. While we ate, she told us about escargots, croissants, and baguettes. She provided information about their historical and cultural significance, and she made it interesting and often funny. Nkay led the group confidently and kindly. In short, we were very impressed. Thank you, Nkay!

Nice tour guide, subpar tour

Our tour guide was a very nice, pleasant woman and we enjoyed our conversation, Though we enjoyed her company and she had some good information regarding the area, we didn’t learn much about the food, the food portions were very small and some of the places chosen weren’t the greatest. We started out at an amazing bakery and we did get some great macarons from Pierre Herme, but the other three stops were not good or memorable. The crepe stop was really bad - very dry with no flavor. The guide didn’t know much about the food, what we were eating, etc. This tour was a nice time spent together but our previous tours in the Marais area and in Madrid were a better experience for the money we spent on this tour.

Really generic, not organised

I've been doing food tours for a while and the best ones manage to bring a place to live through food. This tour took us to generic instagrammable spots in Montmartre at best. On our last stop, our guide had to leave, since it was time to go, but we had to stay there for almost two hours after that to receive our promised charcruterie board. We had a child in our group and visitors to the restaurant started revolting. I think that the history part was ok, our guide was group knowledgeable, but I wrote the company beforehand warning them about the children and I don't think that she had been prepared to entertain and create an immersive experience for children. Finally, I sent messages beforehand that went unreplied and on the day I called the assigned phone numbers many times before the assigned time to warn them that we had trouble with the location and no one answered. I sent messages and no one answered. They were impossible to contact. We ended up missing the first stop because we couldn't warn them.

Delicious

Lovely way to spend a few hours in Paris with our guide Soso. Meeting point was easy to find. The food tasted was delightful and the wine divine. The Le Marais district was very interesting to explore. The best creme brûlée in Paris. Would highly recommend.

This was the best part of our visit to Paris! The establishments we visited served delicious courses of food and were very welcoming to us. Our tour leader shared detailed knowledge about the food, the neighborhood and history of both. She answered our questions and appeared truly to enjoy spending time with us.

Viator lacks customer service

I accidentally purchased a food tour through Las Marais district twice. I asked to have one of the tours refunded, and was denied by Viator. Very disappointed in their lack of customer service. Next time will not use Viator as a middle man, I will purchase direct.

DISGUSTING FOOD TOUR EVER

I booked this Le Maris Tour via Viator on 6/2/23. My friend and I was so disgusted and so disappointed the way it was handled! The first two stops were ok, we get to dined in and given wine, cheese and crackers . Second stop, we were given champagne and 2 small oysters. The third stop, we were taken to the Jewish plaza and we were told by our tour guide Amelie to wait on the bench. There were 14 people altogether on this tour. We waited for her about 30 minutes and when she came back, she had 2 plastic to go containers and she gave us a wooden fork and told us to get one each of the falafel, this is where some of us are standing in the plaza. No water or any beverage was given to us by Amelie . This was disgusting and unacceptable , there are people in the plaza staring at us and I felt so ashamed, disgusted, & embarrassed! There was a restaurant next to where we at and people are just looking at us! Then after that, Amelie took us to this fancy looking restaurant and we thought that’s where we are going to have our final food tasting but she was just touring us to that restaurant , we were just at the gate ,then she made us wait on a sidewalk and took our orders for our crepes. She came back after 40 minutes carrying 14 to go containers of the crepes.She handed us the crepes, and I asked her if there is any silverware to use, she didn’t have any silverware or even a napkin to use! Omg! Again, we were all disgusted! The sidewalk where we waited is surrounded by restaurants and here we are on a sidewalk, standing and eating our crepes with our bare hands!!!! Unacceptable! We paid $109 each for this food tour. I want a full refund!! I’ve been to a lot of food tours in the US and Europe, the way this food tour was handled was very disgusting, unacceptable and embarrassing!!! I emailed the info@tourfuy.com and I wasn’t happy with the response. DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR! You will be wasting your money, find a better restaurant where you can sit down and enjoy your meal .

Worst, disgusting food tour ever!

The description of this tour is so misleading. We ate in a beach overlooking a dumpster, a ball of falafel, disgusting. We had to sit on a curb to eat our crepes. Guide was awful and not even a bottle of water was offered. Waste of money. A refund should be given.

Loved exploring a different part of Paris

It was wonderful to explore a part of Paris that you wouldn’t normally see as a tourist. Our guide was very knowledgeable on the food and what regions it came from. Our last stop had a great meal.

Take your precious money and run!!!

If you are reading this review, please just be forewarned of this Tourist trap. It’s a huge False Illegal Advertising food tour. It’s not worth your $100 plus. If you purchase this tour, from our group of 9 nurses, be ready to be running around 1 hour to find your guide due to last minute changes of meeting location. From another couple, who were celebrating their 60th birthday, theirs got notified that morning that their food tour got changed to the next day. Not even 24 + hours notice which the tour demand of us if the situation was reverse. Then 2 out of 4 places of the food tasting, we were told to stand around due to no sitting availability to eat our 1 falafel and another to sit at the nearby sidewalk which smelled of urine to eat our crepe with our hand in a box with not even a napkin. At the end of the tour, there was no restaurant sitting for a meal… your crepe is your last food!!! How is this a $100 plus tour? We looked like beggars on the street waiting for food to be handed to us in a box!!!

Worst food tour ever!

My friends and I booked food tour today for 5 people at le Marais. My friends and I were very disappointed and extremely disgusted by this tour! The 3rd stop to the Jewish neighborhood to eat falafel was a complete joke! All 14 of us stand around and sat on the bench and waited for Amelie , our guide to comeback with all falafel in 2 plastic containers. First, she gave us a fork and napkin then have us get 1 falafel each standing/sitting outside in the plaza. We went on to go to our 4th and last stop to have some crepes.. much to my surprise, she took our crepe orders and told us to sit on the sidewalk and wait for her until she come back with our crepes. After 30-40 minutes later , she came back with our crepes and distributed them accordingly without forks, utensils or water! This is not acceptable in any way, shape or form! We paid a lot of money to sample the different cuisine of the neighborhood in a dignified manner instead of being treated worse than animals looking like beggars for food! We want a full refund of our money as we did not received the services your company description and tour details.. I've been in a lot of food tours across Europe and never had this horrible and disgusting experience!

A good option to see Le Marais

Amalie is an excellent tour guide and is the highlight of the experience. The wine and cheese is wonderful, so are the oysters (but far too few—must work to change that!) The main course at the end wasn’t the best and below expectations, but the experience was an excellent one. Very glad I took the chance to do it.

Very much worth the time spent, though not as outstanding a culinary experience as it could have been.

Guide was a very pleasant and knowledgeable young man. He was the highlight - and the other guests, who it was nice to meet. Food and wine tastings were adequate, but not as plentiful as on similar food excursions we’ve taken in other capital cities - possibly because there were only five guests on the tour. Proprietors on stops we made did not engage at all, as they have on similar tours we’ve taken. Despite these comments, we enjoyed the tour and our guide.

Great Food and Guide

The food was yummy, although we would have liked a salad or some vegetables with the beef burguignon. Our favorite stop was the wine and cheese. Our tour guide, Soso, was fun and knowledgeable about all the foods and drinks. The Tour Guy is a great company.

I feel like I got more than what I thought I would. Not only was it a food tour but it was a walking tour of the Jewish neighborhood. Rene has a wealth of knowledge and it was wonderful to learn while dining

Stop talking, I’m eating

The food was good. The guide was knowledgeable but didn’t really connect with me. He is a student and had a very academic take on the food. I wanted to eat cheese and drink wine, not take a quiz. But he was friendly and knew his food well.

Excellent tour with Rene, despite missing one stop. I prefer him taking the time to engage with and respond to the group, even if it got us a bit off schedule.

Not really worth your money

The tour guide was delightful and very knowledgeable. However the food selections were disappointing to say the least.

Great guide, food not so great.

Our guide Soso was delightful and I would highly recommend her, but the food was only so-so. Raw oysters may not be to everyone’s taste and the giant portions of mediocre beef Bourguignon and crème brûlé were pedestrian. I’ve been on a lot of food tours in Europe and this one did not make the cut for a recommendation.

Poor value for a simple food & wine tour.

Aimie our guide was a nice local young woman. We enjoyed her company and the other couple on the tour. The food was decent but the value is simply not there. It was our first night in Paris so it was good to get out and see Le Marais but house wine, simple bistro food and a nice local guide does not make a food and wine tour at that price point.

Great Finale to Our Week in Paris

A wonderful way to fight jet lag on our first night in paris while getting a feel for the city

Save room for the Creme Brule, it arrives on your last stop after the Beef Bourguignon, and it is so worth the wait. Our guide was engaging and informative. The food was quite good and we all had a lovely time

Great food, great guide!

Had a great tour with our guide Amelie! She knew all about Le Marais and took us to some amazing spots. We had wine and cheese, then Champagne and oysters. We walked through town and Amelie pointed out interesting facts about the architecture and the culture of the area. We stopped for some falafel before finishing off our tour with beef bourguignon, delicious! Amelie was great and I hope to have her for more tours in the future! :)

Tour Guy in Marais

This was a fabulous tour with our guy Rene. We visited 4 restaurants and walked around the Marais area. We had charcuterie , oysters and champagne, falafel, beef bourginon and a chocolate terrine. Wine was paired beautifully and our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and the food. We were out a total of 4 hours ! It could be less time if you prefer.

Okay Introduction to Parisian Food

Overall, this was okay, and our guide, John, was a super nice guy. Although this tour was clearly pre-arranged, there was a feeling of being interlopers at most of the locations. Examples: 1) when it began to rain heavily(as expected in Paris) we were left outside a visible empty restaurant and were drenched even with patio umbrellas and personal umbrellas 2) we stood outside another restaurant and ate a falafel out of a napkin off to the street corner 3) our “sit down” dinner seemed over cooked - rather than melting, the beef bourguignon was tough and the sauce reduction bitterish. This was a little disappointing. For a food tour, we had no interaction or explanation/description from restaurant staff. Our guide tried to offer details, but the momentum was not there. This is an okay introduction for someone brand new to Paris, but a little underwhelming if you have already poked around a little.

Lower your expectations and you will enjoy

As seasoned travelers and food aficionados we have been on many food tours and were excited to experience the le Marais neighborhood, all of it’s character and have an insider share his knowledge and selection of food stops. The forecast had been for rain and the tour runs rain or shine so we came prepared with our hotel umbrella. 5 couples all lively active 60+ not knowing each other quickly became friendly as we waited for our tour guide who arrived just on time after previously delaying our tour 1/2 hour. He was a friendly welcoming American but seemed to have difficulty in assembling our group throughout the tour. Our first stop was a place that served an impressive cheese plate but 4 people had to share it without plates or utensils.. using our fingers to separate and eat the beautiful cheeses. Water and a glass of wine were served. Although he did a nice job explaining one of the cheeses, he stayed at the other end of the table throughout so it was hard to ask for assistance. We enjoyed conversation with our fellow travelers. We then began to walk in a bit of a drizzle to our next stop… for champagne and oysters… There were indoor opportunities to keep us dry but for whatever reason we were not allowed inside but instead were seated on 2 wooden picnicking benches already very wet under a canopy. We had to ask the staff to dry the benches. Our guide seemed confused not knowing what to do next. At this point it was windy and pouring and the canopy was not keeping most of us dry. No offers of umbrellas to others or suggestion of how to keep dry. The oysters and champagne were quite good and he made accommodations for those not wanting oysters… delicious salmon dip. It was now pouring and we began a 10-15 minute walk…single file to keep safe on wet cobbled streets…No stops along the way to share information… sometimes just looking back to do a headcount. Our next stop was a falafel place where people were seated. He asked us how many we each wanted …most just wanted one so he ordered a box accordingly with forks for us to stab one standing up in the rain. The tasteless falafel disintegrated onto the ground upon being stabbed by the wooden forks as we stood in the rain. We then walked to our next stop which we were told was the last stop for “the best Boeuf Bourguignon in Paris.” The tour description had mentioned a crepe stop which it appeared we were skipping but we were all hopeful and also looking forward to the crème brûlée other reviewers had raved about. We were seated indoors which was welcomed by all at a table for 10. Our guide insisted on being in the middle, which left him seated and comfortable and one of our guests looking around to find a chair to sit at the end of an already crowded table. One guest did not drink wine so our guide drank his. As we waited for our food our guide continued talking mostly about his wife, confused/unsure about questions guests may have asked… often mispronouncing many French names places and wine varieties. He was so nice but this had become increasingly irritating as at this price point we were expecting a bit more expertise. Our food arrived… beef and mashed potatoes . The beef was in an overly salted mushroomed sauce difficult to cut with a knife and very fatty/ grizzled . The mashed potatoes were thin and tasteless. Dessert was probably the worst disappointment… a plate of crumbled dry tasteless cake bits with what tasted like grape jelly.. not the crème brûlée we had expected. Perhaps this was a one-off with an inexperienced tour guide or a bad food day but unfortunately we cannot recommend this tour. For $244 thinking we could have done better on our own

Spectacular food tour with Ferit

We (2 persons) enjoyed every minute of this tour through the Le Marais. Ferit, our tour guide, was very professional, told us a lot of interesting facts about Paris and the food. Between the restaurants we passed through to a local market, a cheese shop and many other local must-try- places. The tour is worth every cent. The organization was very good. We contacted Erica, the tour manager, several times because of change of schedule. This was no big deal; the organization was perfect! Thank you very much! We loved it;)

Great experience

The guide was very kind. Different tastings were very good. The only thing, that the places were very distant and we have to walk a lot!!!

Yummy Paris!

Our group of 8 was very happy to have signed up for this Food Tour where we received a delicious and interesting introduction to French cuisine. Our tour guy, Avi, took us on an informative journey through Le Marais which was once a aristocratic district with many beautiful buildings and passages of historic and architectural importance. During this 3 hour tour with Avi we experienced and thoroughly enjoyed an authentic taste of Paris. We all loved it! Thanks for the awesome tour, Avi!

Good intro to Parisian foods

Rene provided great info on cheese making and wine tasting. Good variety of foods and quantities. Disappointed that Escargot and wine stop had to be skipped because restaurant was unexpectedly closed (tour company had confirmed that day). All the foods sampled were delicious .

Great way to taste a lot!

We took this tour in June. My husband, son and I, along with three other couples were on the tour. We started with wine and cheese, then oysters and champagne. These locations were very close together. Next, we had a bit of a walk.. Its an easy walk, but wear appropriate shoes! We stopped for Falafel and dip which we ate on the street. Next was crêpes (sweet and savory) and Cider (dry and sweet). I honestly don't love buckwheat, but my husband and son adored it. Next we went to have Boeuf Bourguignon along with crème brûlée. This stop was just ok. It was a typical neighborhood brasserie, but nothing to write home about. Overall, we were stuffed and excited about all that we had the opportunity to eat. I thought the price paid was fair for the amount of food and drinks we were provided. It was also nice to walk and digest between the courses. This was a total win for us and I would recommend it to others.
