Paris Cooking Class: Learn How to Make Macarons

Excited to Disappointment

We had a lot of fun doing the macaron class, the instructor was engaging, interactive, and made the process fun. My wife and daughters we looking forward to this class. Did we make macarons? Yes. Was it fun? Yes. Was my middle daughter disappointed? Yes! She felt the process was fun and enjoyable, but it was treated like an assembly line. The chef didn't even give the cookies time to cool, and was having us peel them off the mat. Cookies were sticking to the mat causing a lot if them to be hollow. The fillings tasted good but a couple were runny. I know this is a short class and we couldn't fully let the finished cookie set in a fridge for 24 hours. My daughter has been baking these cookies at home for the last 2 years and has been working really hard to perfect them. She makes and sells these wonderful little cookies, the thought of getting to have a single class to learn a new technique excited her till we finished the class. She said it was a disappointment, and she felt like the chef really didn't even care about the macaron. I hope this experience does not deter her from continuing her dream of a bakery. 😞

So much fun!

Our family of four (2 tweens) had the most fun at this private macaron class. Frederick was an amazing teacher and created such a great vibe - he knows his stuff, did a great job explaining what to do and also why to do it, and most importantly made the whole experience a total blast. This class is already a highlight of our several-week trip in France. Highly recommend!!

A terrific experience

I took the macaron cooking class with my 15 year old granddaughter and grandson. Chef Stephane Jimenez was a terrific instructor. Our macarons tested great. The class is a fun diversion from museum

Exceptional experience

This experience was wonderful from start to finished. Our chef, Stephane, was incredibly patient and enjoyed getting everyone in the group engaged. This class is truly hands on every step of the way! Our group made 4 different kinds of macrons. Stephane shared the tricks of the trade to help us create these incredible jewels. We had a chance to taste our creation and then take some home. The location was easy to get to and the space was really nice and wonderful to work in. I highly recommend this class!

The class was so much fun! The instructor was great and patient! He was super detailed oriented and passionate about his cooking. I recommend this to couples, families, anyone!

A memorable experience in Paris!

We had a wonderful time!! Paris traffic was terrible and we arrived very late to our class. We were greeted with open arms and our instructor didn’t miss a beat adding us into the mix. She was clearly used to managing everyone through all of the steps and made everything so enjoyable! I even get a few tips for troubleshooting my macarons at home. My mother & I will never forget this experience. Thank you!

Best time and wonderful macarons!

Phenomenal time! First, the Le Foodist kitchen and building is so lovely. We were greeted by Anne, who delivered our instructions and supported our small group (only 6 of us total!) in making lemon, vanilla and chocolate macarons. We had such fun and finished by enjoying our new treats with coffee and tea. Next time in Paris, I will take their croissant class!

We made our own delicious macarons!

My wife and I totally enjoyed this class! Stéphane Jimenez was an outstanding chef and instructor that took his time with each individual to ensure they were properly creating their macarons. We had more than enough macarons to eat with coffee or tea and enough left over to take a large box of macarons home with us. This was well worth the time and it was a priceless experience I will never forget.

Perfect for teenage granddaughters

Florence was informative, friendly and oh so French. Our Granddaughters giggled with delight. What a delighted way to spend the morning. This was the high point of our Paris trip.

Top experience in Paris!

Stephan’s class was a highlight on our trip to Paris! The charming entrance led to a beautifully designed seating area that doubled as a tasting room. We were immediately welcomed by Stephane himself and provided with a place to relax while the other students arrived. Once we were provided with our aprons and hands washed, we entered a spacious and pristine food prep area. This class was organized for success and provided loads of fun. Stephane’s energy was perfect for the novice or experienced chef. We learned many “secret” techniques to bring home to our own kitchens. The tasting of our culinary creations was complimented by a cup of tea or coffee. We highly recommend Le Foodist. Fun, fun, fun! Merci Stephane…we will be back 😊

Baking Couples

The class was amazing! Each group made a different type of macaroon from scratch. At the end, you will try each one, get the recipe, and can take leftovers home. It was our first cooking class ever and we LOVED it!

Delicious and educational

Stephan was our instructor. We had 9 people in our class which he managed extremely well. Not only is he a genuinely a highly credentialed pastry chef with Michelin star experience he is genuinely a great teacher which resulted in not only a fun experience but also a great final product we we thoroughly enjoyed

Wonderful World of Macarons

Chef Stephan Jimenez was wonderful. He was well organized, attentive, patient and fun. We were 3 generations grandmother, daughter and granddaughter. The macarons were superb. We highly recommend this experience.

A perfect vegan macaron baking experience in Paris.

We couldn’t have been happier with our macaron baking class. Our instructor was a true professional and the class was very well run. I’m a vegan and they were kind enough to accommodate me by providing me with an alternative to eggs. The class was a month ago and we’re still eating the macarons we baked. They’re keeping perfectly in the freezer. If you have a chance, go to their class!

Macaron, Macaron,,, who doesn’t love Macarons?

Had a wonderful time learning to make macarons from Stephane. It was informative, well organized and most importantly fun! Not to mention that we left with a box full of macarons to enjoy! I highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting Paris!

Entertaining and educational

Had a great time. I went by myself, but there were only six others in the class, so we were on a first-name basis quickly. We made the fillings first, so they could chill. We made the macaron dough and got to pick the color. The chef led us through the complicated process of an Italian meringue relatively painlessly, and then the macaron technique to fold the meringue into the dough. I have never piped dough before, but the instructions were thorough. A great time!

Wonderful experience!

This class was absolutely amazing. It was one of my favorite things my daughter and I did in Paris. The class only had 8 people in it and we were working in pairs which was a lot of fun. Our instructor, Florence, is funny, kind, extremely helpful, and was not about to let us ruin an entire batch of macarons. She explained to us where things could go wrong and the reasons for being precise in each step. She shared her techniques and talked us through each step. This class is for beginners (me) and more experienced bakers (my daughter) and everyone in between. If you are on the fence, do it!

Great Class!

During our recent family vacation to Paris, we did a French Macaron class with Stephane. We didn’t know what to expect, but it turned out that we were cooking with an amazingly nice and talented pastry chef trained at the world’s top Michelin Star restaurants. Stephane was lovely to be with, and pleasantly walked us through all the stages of preparing and cooking what turned out to be beautiful and delicious Macarons. We wrapped up our morning enjoying tea and our sweet creations. It was a huge hit, including with our kids. The kitchen space was extremely nice - a new, modern kitchen designed into a very old wine cellar. It was quite beautiful. We would highly recommend taking a cooking class here, especially with Stephane!

A real Parisienne experience

Delicious and super fun afternoon

My daughter (age 13) and I had an amazing time making macarons with Fanny! The class was a highlight of our time in Paris. A very hands on class with lots of baking tips and laughter throughout. Delicious macarons - we can’t wait to try to make again at home!

Wonderful and fun experience!

Fanny was an awesome instructor!! She was fun and lighthearted!! Very thorough in her instructions and our macarons actually came out good!! Highly recommend her for an instructor!

Family fun

This class is perfect for a beginner as everything is laid out in simple steps. The chef was so patient with all of us and provided tips through out the entire session. Enjoyable for all various age groups.

Macaron Class A+

My daughter and I attened the macaron class, led by Stephane, in early May. It was an exceptional class from start to finish! Stephane is a world class baker and teaches with kindness, humor, and precision. My daughter and I couldn't have had more fun, and plan to make them at home for many years to come! Recipe demystified! Le Foodist is a gem and anyone visiting Paris that wants to enjoy a warm, educational experience should sign up for a class!

Macaron Delight!

Our family signed up for a private 3hr macaron class so that our 10 yr old could participate and due to our other daughter’s pistachio allergy. Fred was wonderful coordinating by email to book the class and it was a wonderful family experience! Chef Stephane walked us through the entire process start to finish! He was very personable and my husband and I as well as our three daughters (15, 13 & 10 yrs old) enjoyed his teaching style and direction. We made two batches of macarons and were able to choose 2 colors and created three fillings (chocolate, lemon & vanilla) from scratch! We all learned a lot about baking and macaroons while we worked. It was a lovely environment too! We were down in the basement and the space was perfect and neat to be in as well. Such a lovely setting to bake and cook in! We left with four boxes of macarons and can’t wait to share them when we get home! Oh and we now have the recipe and can make them whenever we want! If you have the opportunity to take a class here go for it! You won’t be disappointed. A lovely family bonding activity as well as a fun time with friends or a date!

Fun class to learn how to make macarons!

This was so fun and educational! Florence was very explanative and walked us through every step of the tedious process of making macarons 😁 I definitely hope to be back to take some family with me next time! My favorite was that of course you get to eat your creations and go home with them.

What a delightful class!

My husband and I did this class and we had the best time making macarons! The class was well organized and well paced, and made a complicated process approachable. The macarons turned out delicious too, especially for our first time making them! Would sign up again in a heartbeat, highly highly recommend during your Paris vacation!

I am so very happy that I booked the macaroon baking class. I learned so much, and our instructor, Fanny, made the class incredibly fun and engaging. The space at Le Foodist is absolutely stunning. I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for an authentic baking experience in Paris!

Great time

We had a great time. Stephane our teacher was really nice and explained everything easily and helped if you wanted to but if you wanted to do it yourself you were free to do so. At the end we were served tea or coffee and we could try to macarons and we made so much we could take 2 full boxes home. At the end Stephane made a really nice dinner reservation for us, which was really kind. We highly recommend!

A perfect afternoon experience!!

We had the most wonderful afternoon at Le Foodist! The class size was perfect allowing us to learn new techniques with hands-on experience throughout the entire baking process! Can’t wait to return for some of the other class options!

Macaroon class

Chef Lucia (Luke) was amazing! He was so attentive and made the class fun and enjoyable. I would highly recommend doing this class when you come to Paris. And you get to take some home with you.

Lots of fun, and yummy too.

Our Chef teacher was so knowledgeable, patient, efficient, and lots of fun. Not only did we make everything from scratch, we learned the "why" in preparing everything. I totally have a new appreciation for macarons, but think I can actually make them on my own now. If you get the chance, take this class, it's a definite highlight.

We had the best time with Luc and made SO many macarons that lasted our stay in Paris. The teens and adults all enjoyed every minute baking, whisking, and filing our shells. Thank you for being part of our amazing stay in Paris!

Wonderful experience for a family outing!

Chef Luc was a fantastic instructor for our multigenerational group of ages 12 - 78! We all enjoyed the experience and came away with more macarons than we could possibly eat during our stay in Paris.

This class was really fun. Our teacher, Florence was really detailed in her instructions and gave us tons of feedback. She really helped me improve me technique. I learned a lot about making a successful meringue base for the cookies, piping just right, and about making some great fillings for them as well. Afterward, we sat and enjoyed some of the macarons with some tea. We then got to pack up macarons in a box to take along. She was right! They are much tastier the next day!

Would strongly recommend you try this class

Ann was the best! She managed the group well, provided great instructions, adjusted to our pace, friendly with kids, interacted and involved everyone and had tons of fun!

The best part of our trip!

This macaroon making class with Chef Stephane Jimenez was my favorite part of our trip to Paris! Our family of 5 (ages 13, 10 and 7) enjoyed a morning of macaroon-making in the most beautiful kitchen. Stephane was an excellent teacher and made it such fun to make these treats. Would absolutely recommend for locals or visitors!

Amazing experience with a fantastic teacher

Fanny was an amazing instructor and made learning to make Macarons so much fun! She was very patient with us and helped some of the more experienced people perfect their methods. I would highly recommend this class, especially if you can do it with Fanny, to anyone!

A really nice experience, the athmosphere was great, the teacher was great and we really learned all the steps in doping makarones. I reslly recommend this!

We had a great time! Anna - our chef- explained every step accurately so each of us could take home a box of wonderful macarons. Anna made us feel very welcome and our small group of seven people had a lot of fun. After the baking we had tea or coffee and could Taste our macarons. I can highly recommend this activity!

Great experience. Cute and clean kitchen, everything was prepped and ready, organized, comfortable. Small group of 5- including my husband and I, and three ladies we met, who seemed to have a great time as well. Stephane Jimenez was our chef/teacher and was great. We enjoyed the experience, and still enjoying the macarons we brought home. Definitely recommend.
