Fun day cooking in Paris

I had a great time in the Paris Cooking Class with Lunch plus Market Visit. It was fun to go thru the open air market and learn more about the cheeses that France makes. Also enjoyed the cooking class and learned some additional tips and tricks a long the way. Paulo was great at explaining how to do everything and keeping the group moving. Lunch was delicious and fun with new friends made.

Confirm your event time, best way to mix up a day in Paris!

I took my 18-year-old daughter to this class, and we both had a great time. We booked our class 9 months in advance for a 10:30 AM cooking class. When we arrived at 10:15, the doors were locked, and no one was in sight. We waited for around 20 minutes, and someone came up from the basement to let us in. After another 5 minutes or so, the whole class had come from the market. I guess they were all told 9:00 AM for the meeting time. Bummed we missed out on the market part of the class. Chef more than made up for this by putting on a great event. I would do this again. I wish someone had at least addressed the time issue. But then again the class was so much fun so I guess it doesn't really matter at the end of the day.

Tuck into some French cooking!

What a wonderful way to spend a day in Paris. I have done cooking classes in other cities and this was one of the best. Frederick has a dry sense of humor and a wealth of knowledge. Everyone learned some new cooking techniques. The trip to the market was particularly enjoyable.

Wow!!!

Wow!! What a great afternoon!! We decided to pass on the market visit as we have done it in Italy on a past trip to Europe. With this said, we heard it was great but the cooking class was outstanding!! The chef (Paulo) was outstanding, he took his time with each step and explained and asked for questions. The dishes that we prepared were unbelievable, and the whole class enjoyed it so much. I am so glad that we chose to come to this beautiful house, which they called it, and felt so welcomed and left with a better knowledge of French cooking. we highly recommend the class to anyone with or without cooking experience. It was just fun!!

What a fun day !

This was a great day in Paris; market visit was informative and entertaining; cooking with Paolo and our classmates-for-a-day was a blast. Super organized and we had a fun group. Can’t wait to replicate recipes at home!

Market lunch class - a great day!

Excellent class! So enjoyed Frederick’s class, complete with humor, history, food & wine overviews, and techniques and why they matter. Trip to market, cheese tasting, fishmonger and produce/fruits selection, cooking a complete meal then enjoying the results — a very good time. Foodies who love to cook, we took class to experience French culture and class hit the mark.

Great for beginners and more experienced cooks

We had a great time. Frederic, our chef and guide, was engaging and informative. At the market we had a nice overview (and tasting) of French cheeses. Back in the kitchen. We put together a beautiful lunch. My wife and I are fairly experienced cooks, but there were still plenty of tips and techniques that we learned that will elevate our meals at home. Awesome recipes and experience!

The experience was absolutely amazing! Our instructor, Paulo, was absolutely incredible and so knowledgable about cooking and the history of food! The experience was a 10/10! I definitely recommend this and adding the market visit option!

Paris/Barcelona 2024

Paris without a doubt is the Mecca of excellent cuisine. Enjoyed the museums and the iconic cultural spots of Paris. Loved It!!!!

An enjoyable and educational food tour!

We had a wonderful experience visiting the boulangeries, patisseries,butchers, and frommage shops of Paris’ Latin Quarter with Marie Alicia. Her appreciation and enthusiasm for French food is only matched by her extensive understanding and knowledge of the region’s food . We enjoyed a three hour tour of local shops, purchasing local products (included with the tour) for enjoyable repasts. Our private (and educational) tour with tastings included a wonderful selection of various croissant and coffee and cappuccino. Lunch included freshly roasted chicken, triple crème Brie, two types of French bread (including traditional) , white and red wine, and a yummy buttery lemon tart. I highly recommend the tour with Marie Alicia! We would love to explore more of Paris’ food experiences with Marie!

I Love French Food

First, I would like to say hats off to the chief who conducted the cooking class. You will learn everything you need to know about cooking from the market to the kitchen. You will meet guest who will be attending the cooking class and I found myself comfortable with each one. The step by steps is very important to stay focus because it will be a fun, intense and rewarding at the end by tasting the courses you and the team prepared. The one concerned that I had with the chief, he tries to explain everything, and you need to pay very close attention to his directions. If you fail to pay attention, he will call you out in front of the entire class. We saw he came down hard to one the guest because she did not follow direction, however it was a simple fix. I highly recommend this class.

Great experience

The trip to the market to help us understand what was there—learning about cheeses and produce and purchasing from good vendors—and the hands-on cooking, learning, and trying new techniques were what I’d hoped for. And the food was amazing! Luc was a great guide and chef, the space was beautiful, and our fellow learners were fun. I highly recommend!

A wonderful class in French cuisine from Chef Luke

The chef Luke was amazing. He involved everybody and what we did. We went to the market. He explained how cheeses were thought of in France. He introduced some of the people to new vegetables that they really didn’t know about. He explained the spices and herbs he showed the fishmonger And when we got back to the kitchen, he involved everybody in doing something so that all the attendees felt that they had got a full experience for their money. Any of my friends coming to Paris I would suggest the class, especially if Luke was teaching.

The highlight of my trip to Paris

This cooking class was the highlight of my 6-day solo trip to Paris. Frederic is a knowledgeable, fantastic cook and host. I enjoyed everything offered during this course: the visit to the market, cooking in the professionally equipped kitchen of Le Foodist and thereafter dining and enjoying the fruit of our cooking efforts. I learned a lot from Frederic and really had so much fun. To be recommended to anyone interested in cooking and the french cuisine.

Great cooking experience!

Fred was a fantastically funny and informative teacher. Loved our trip to the market and his explanation of cheese varieties. Throughout the day, we learned cooking techniques and well as French food history. We made a complete French meal, which was so organized, with everyone completing different tasks. Loved the entire experience.

Just right!

I have been to cooking classes all over the world and this one stood out for two reasons. First it was not so elementary as to be boring, and not so technical as to be impractical for a group. Second, Frédérique! He was a wonderful instructor with an incredible personality and sense of humor that made the experience ten times more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a challenging, authentic and fun French culinary experience, you can’t go wrong here.

Le Foodist, is Le Best!

This was a great experience. We were on our honeymoon, spent 10 days between the south of France and Paris. On our last day, we booked this excursion. We had so much fun meeting everyone and learning how to cook French cuisine. Frederick was AWESOME! So knowledgeable and extremely funny! Would definitely recommend. We will probably do it again in the future!

Fun experience in Paris

The class was fun and Fred took us to the market and we tried some cheese out. It was great to learn the top tip about baking a fish and the ratatouille. My classmates were fun too and I booked the second class the following day to make baguette with Florence. Taking a cooking class in Paris is a must and I am glad I find this place. It was super easy and convenient to get to.

Great Fun Experience!

This cooking class was totally great. We arrived at the Foodist at 9 AM, went shopping for food at a local open air market, spent over 3 hours preparing our meal and then spent almost 2 hours enjoying lunch. It was a combination of both art and science/chemistry. I wound up having a lot more respect for the cooking profession. Our chef Fred was excellent. He got our class of 10 totally involved in the preparation and cooking our meal. How he could so successfully coordinate 10 students in preparing our meal was fascinating. He is a real pro. If you have time to spend in Paris, I would highly recommend booking and attending this class. Peter S. Matorin

Something to try while in Paris

The instructor was very good. If was educational to see the way some of the foods were peeped and/or prepared. I gave the class 4 stars. The only problem was that with 10 people, each prepped a different item a d it made it difficult to keep track of the entire process

Frederic is the best!

Frederic was so much fun! We loved chatting with him on the way to the market. He taught us about French culture and foods and he had fun facts about everything we asked about. We felt like we were his friends by the end. We made a cauliflower soup, a salmon with burblanc sauce and a poached pear with chocolate sauce and roasted hazelnuts with a side of homemade ice cream. Would definitely do one of their classes again if we come back to Paris!

Cooling up fun

The cooking class was absolutely a wonderful experience. We enjoyed our trip to the Market along with the history of cheese and all the important things the chef pointed out for shopping for the freshest and best ingredients. Helping prepare the meal and learning different techniques was fun The chef was professional, informative, helpful and had a wonderful sense of humor. Chef Luc was the best. The food was amazing and a great time was had by all. We will definitely recommend this experience.

An Experience To Remember

This was such a fun experience thanks in large part to Chef Frédérique, who expertly guided the group of 12 in making a decadent 3-course meal. He was so personable, funny, patient, passionate, informative (I could go on and on). The day started with a short walk to the open farmers market where we sampled cheese and Frédérique purchased all the fresh ingredients to make our meal. Back in the kitchen, we were all involved in the food preparation by performing various tasks that Frédérique first demonstrated. It was such a fun and informative day learning new culinary terms and techniques and then indulging in the delicious meal that we helped prepare. Don’t be put off by the price of this experience. It was worth every cent!

One of the most memorable experiences on our trip!

Frederick was fantastic! We had so much fun going to the market and cooking with him. His instructions were easy to follow and he answered all our questions. The class size was perfect. Everyone had a chance to learn a new technique. The food was delicious! Thank you for an amazing experience!

Frederic is a wonderful leader with a fun and sincere personality. Everything was so well timed. I was surprised how much we were able prepare and still feel at a relaxed pace with wine and social time.

Must Do for Paris

The cooking class at Le Foodist was probably one of the best things we did on our trip to France if not the best thing. It was a short walk from the Notre Dame to the home base for the cooking class. Our class was 10-3pm (and did not include the shipping at the grocery store). We met our instruct Paulo and he brought all 8 people in the class to the kitchen where he explained the menu and demonstrated all the prep that needed to be done for the meal. The 8 members of the class all were given the chance to work on some task and we even helped each other out! **I do think who is in the class with you could be a make or break depending on personalities.** Luckily our group was amazing!!! My husband and I. Two cousins and their moms from Boston MA and a solo chef from Australia. Talking and chatting while cooking made it more special and enjoyable. The menu we prepared was leek and cauliflower soup with roasted cauliflower flourets on top, baked salmon with berblanc sauce, potato gratin with cream, and for dessert - poached pears with homemade vanilla ice cream and chocolate ganache. Paulo was so knowledgeable and gave so many great cooking tips and techniques for this meal and cooking in general. All the course, he paired with a different wine. And we enjoyed a before dinner wine while cooking as well - all included in the class. 10 out of 10 recommend if you have time in your schedule while in Paris - take a Le Foodist class. Hell if you have even more time take two!! The dinner menu was different than our lunch menu and Paulo mentioned they do meringue classes as well.

Fun Paris Experience

Luke was very helpful, fun, and knowledgeable about all things France and food. I would recommend this experience for something different to do while in Paris.

Highly Recommend!

I highly recommend this cooking class at Le Foodist in Paris. Our chef was Frédéric, who was fun and explained everything in a way that even a not-very-good cook like me could understand. He actually has gotten me excited about cooking again. The meal was the best we had on our two week trip in Europe by far- and we ate at many fine restaurants! We met some really nice folks as well. I can’t wait to make this dishes at home.

Food, fun, friends and joy to take home

Our chef, Frederique, was fun, patient, passionate, intelligent, kind, and articulate. We learned LOADS! The other students were fun, friendly and great coworkers. We made 3 delicious courses from scratch (after buying the ingredients in the open market) and successfully completed a meal with dishes I’d failed at before. GO FOR IT! 🇫🇷❤️🇫🇷

A good class and fun time for beginners and people who like to cook.

Luke did a very good job with his instructions to the class. He kept everyone on task and doing their part so that in the end we all enjoyed a well planned meal. Fun social experience.

This was an excellent way to spend a day in Paris

We had a wonderful time with Chef Frederick. We enjoyed walking to the market and looking at all of the organic foods that the local Parisians have the ability to buy. The cheese shop he took us to was incredible. We got all of the ingredients to cook all day and we had a great time. We had a wonderful lunch, and learned some great tips along the way. This is most definitely an activity I would do again. Should we return to Paris.

Excellent!!

This was our favorite day of our trip!! Fred was fantastic, so kind and patient and funny, he felt like an old friend. He is a great teacher and I’m already cooking some of the recipes at home! Looking forward to another trip to Paris later this year and will be returning to Le Foodist! Love, Elsie

Wonderful experience learning French cooking.

It was definitely worth going on the market trip. It was interesting to see and learn (and taste) the different cheeses. The market was beautiful and preparing and cooking the meals was wonderful. Our guide and chef, Fred was fun, knowledgable, and helpful. I highly recommend this class!

Great food and fellowship

Luc is an amazing chef and instructor. He was patience and clear in his instructions. He was very engaging and provided a fun and relaxing atmosphere in which to learn about French cooking and cuisine. The trip to the market was quite informative. I enjoyed learning about how Parisians get their fresh food and cheeses and taste a variety of cheeses. The wine wasn’t bad either. When we sat down to enjoy the fruit of our labor, I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food actually was. Great day of food and fellowship. Highly recommend

Fun, organized, informative & comfortable—bravo, Frédéric!

I enjoyed my croissant class at Le Foodist so much that I signed up immediately to take their lunch cooking class. It did not disappoint either! I had a wonderful time and learned several delicious dishes, and Frédéric was a delight in addition to being a terrific teacher. I also love the work space and very much appreciated the clear and efficient communication from registration to the end of class. Will definitely take more classes here!

Amazing day in Paris!

This was the best thing I did while in Paris. Going to the market and meeting an award winning fromager, selecting fresh produce and learning so many new techniques. Fredrick was wonderful!

Terrific class, learned a ton!!

The market trip/lunch class was the highlight of my Paris teip. The instructor, Fred, was so relatable and interested in our success with new cooking methods introduced that day. I have already prepped one of the dishes here in the U.S. This is a great value as well as a great way to spend an afternoon.

Great cooking class in France!

I’ve been to many cooking classes and this was in the top two - if not my favorite. Frederick was our chef and he was extremely knowledgeable and had a wonderful sense of humor! The class was 6 hours long and's we didn’t want it to end. We learned some great techniques and laughed the whole time! Highly recommend.

A Wonderful Day of Cooking & Learning!

Wow, what a great day of cooking! We learned so much about the culinary history of France by walking to the market, trying local cheeses (which were so delicious), and going through the recipes step by step. Everyone got to participate in the cooking process as we all were given jobs. Even my 16 year old teenage boy enjoyed learning how to make scalloped potatoes. He was so happy to eat what he made. Thank you Luke for providing a memorable day for the grandmothers in our group down to our teenagers!

Fun, informative and yum

My 2 adult daughters and I spent 6 hours with Luc, the chef. I love to cook and found that the cooking techniques that were taught and food prep tips were ones that I could and will add to my what I do already and hopefully help me to level up. Great experience.

Top quality school. Six hours of cooking/training.

Six hours long. Loads of food and wine. For folks really into cooking and learning. Market tour is a must. Host was amazing. School was spotless. Worth the money.

Exceeded all expectations!

What a great introduction to Paris and French cooking! Our chef, Frederick, was the best. He was informative, engaging, funny and made the whole experience not one to be missed. DO NOT SKIP the trip to the market. There was a perfect balance of learning cooking methods without feeling like you were doing all of the work to make the perfect gourmet meal. In addition to learning interesting new tips and methods, there was plenty of time to kick back, enjoy some wine, and engage with Frederick and the others in the group (our group was terrific by the way). And ultimately, the food was awesome and (with the help of the recipes emailed afterwards) we will be making these dishes at home. We could not recommend this activity more.

Luc & Le Foodist are Top!

I brought my junior high school group here from Canada (2 adults + 7 students 13-14 y/o), and the experience was wonderful! Fred and the team were wonderful to deal with for bookings, and the environment there is BEAUTIFUL! Kudos to his wife for all the decorating ;). Our chef Luc took us on a market tour and really spent a lot of time diving into the history of the cheeses in France, including a little sample. He even did a few little detours to show us some awesome history in the area as well as a few of his favourite spots. This was super cool and so informative; we learned a LOT ! When it came to the cooking, he was calm cool and collected; he was helpful and taught them SO many incredible skills while sharing stories of his own food journey and the culinary science side of what we were learning. He was so personable and patient, and really shared his heart and his love of cooking. It was the highlight of our trip, and really gave our crew a moment to sit and dine together while recapping our favourite moments in Paris. Cannot recommend enough! If you're thinking of booking, DO IT.

Wonderful food and wonderful instruction

Our market visit was amazing! Everything was fresh and tasted delicious! The cheese was divine! Frederic really shared so much history and gave us a great understanding of how important cheese was as a protein source and how it was preserved. We cooked a fantastic lunch and learned while eating amazing dishes! Thanks for Le Foodist and Frederic, he made the experience even more amazing!

A wonderful experience!

This class was informative, enjoyable, and fun. Frederic is a gifted chef, instructor, and a natural born entertainer. Learning new techniques and connecting with others in the class is something I would do again and again. Frederic was personable and accommodating to special needs/requests. Le Foodist is well-organized and I highly recommend any of their services.
