Better than the louvre

This museum was way better than the louvre. Amazing art. Guide was also very knowledgeable. Defintiely budget to spend more time here if you are a fan of impressionism

A must see museum in Paris!

Learned a lot about art history from our guide. Our group was small and easy to move around the museum. Easy walk from Louvre Museum.

Horrible Guide Experience

Guide was horrible. He showed up 30 minutes late, and his English wasn’t much better than my French. Wasted lots of time and saw very little of what we paid for.

Not focused on impressionists

Tour guide was prompt and easy to find. Explanations were clear but this was a general museum tour. We saw some impressionists but explanations were focused on the subjects being prostitutes. Very little on the artists or progression of the style could have done better on my own reading the display signs or with the audio tour. Spent time explaining the Statue of Liberty and the opera house. Not what I wanted from this tour!!

Nice summary of Impressionist art

Our guide was knowledgeable and very nice. She took us though the whole museum explaining the whole movement of the painters, stopping at the most famous paintings. Beautiful museum one can visit on their own, however it is a better experience when guided by an expert.

Ivan wonderful Guide

Our Guide Ivan was terrific. Former school teacher. Very knowledgeable. Easy to understand and cared we stayed together so everyone could see and hear. Not an easy task in a very crowded Museum.

Great Way to See the Musée

This was a great way to visit the Musée d'Orsay. Not only do you learn about some of the artwork, but you also get to skip the long line, which makes it worth it alone, in my opinion. Our guide, Jessica, was very knowledgeable and engaging. Although the tour was short, you have plenty of time afterward to explore independently.

Perfect way to see Musee d’Orsay

Jessica was a wonderful guide. We would have been totally lost without her. The meeting place was easy to find and definitely recommend this tour.

A fabulous tour

We were very fortunate to have Humberto as our guide. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and easy to follow along. In addition to the popular works in the museum, he explained very well the historical significance of what was happening in the times the paintings were done. I learned new things about the artists even with some art history classes and exhibitions in the past. Thank you for a fabulous experience.

Informative

Informative and a good length of time. 9 year old son liked it too. We stick around for lunch in the cafe on fifth floor by the clock and then took a bit longer to walk through and see more art after the tour.

Guides Make the Difference

Ivan was a wonderful guide - knowledgeable and passionate about art and art history. I don't know how anyone makes sense of a museum this size without starting with a guided tour. We saw the highlights and got some history and were then able to explore on our own. He gave us tips on seeing the special 150 year exhibit, which we would not have done without specific tickets had he not encouraged us. It's always nice to skip the line - we were the first tour of the day and got in very quickly. More time to spend looking instead of queuing.

Poor Experience with Viator/Musee d'Orsay

Our experience with the Viator "Skip the Line" English speaking guided tour at the Musee d'Orsay was extremely disappointing. I paid $278 for 4 adults for what was supposed to be a 2 hr guided tour. We began late because clients were late and spent 15-20 min gaining entry, checking coats & getting audioguides. With the up-front delays we started at least 1/2 hr. behind schedule. Our tour guide Stephanie was charming but once we finally got into the main gallery, she spent another 15 min. discussing the museum's history. The tour of actual artwork lasted no more than 1 hr., with a focus on only 1 painting per gallery. To add insult to injury we were not permitted to view the special exhibit celebrating the 150th anniversary of Impressionism. If we wanted to view it we had to pay an additional fee & do it on our own time. I was furious. It was one of the main reasons I'd booked the tour. I've used Viator in the past with good results but given this most recent experience I won't use their services in the future. I strongly recommend against booking this tour.

Overview of Orsay

Seeing the Impressionists and Post Impressionists. Also had an opportunity to view the Art Deco exhibits and Rodins there. Guide (Stephanie) was very knowledgeable, but ran out of time in her descriptions, due to late arrivals. Felt very rushed as a result, especially since she had another trip to do. We spent time afterwards exploring on our own.

This is a beautiful museum with wonderful paintings and artwork. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this museum.

D’Orsay a great day

The tour was great and it was a large part due to our tour guide Ivan. He got us to the most popular spots efficiently before it got too crowded which required flexibility on his part. He had to change up his preferred tour strategy but it worked out very well. Meaning he truly cared that our group got the best experience possible. He is knowledgeable and very friendly. It was fantastic not having to wait in long lines to enter and get our tour headsets. If you aren’t an art history major and want to get a nice overview on the major works offered in the museum this really is the way to go and you can’t go wrong with Ivan.

Wonderful experience

The Skip-the-Line feature was terrific, as was our guide. He used his knowledge of art history to work up to the Impressionists, the finale of the tour. Thorough and interesting.

History of art from academic period to impressionism

We loved our guide. It was great to get a short history of the evolution from the tightly controlled academic art of the elite to the more raw impressionist period. The title of the tour is misleading, however. There was minimal time actually spent on the impressionist artists, their lives and paintings, limited to the end of the tour.

Burn in hell viator

What can I say. I hate viator. When life happens, viator ghosts there customers. I was unable to participate in this activity due to an emergency. My attempts to contact viator went met with silence and dismissive accusations.

Interestng and informative

We truly enjoyed our tour. It was interesting and informative. Our guide was very good at explaining the paintings and why they are important. Tour moved at a comfortable pace and we developed a good understanding and appreciation thanks to our guide's narrative. It was disappointing that many of the Impressionists pieces had been moved to a separate gallery that was not a part of our tour.

The tour guide was great...

The tour guide was great but started late because clients were late. What was billed as a 2 hr tour was more like an hour & didn’t include the exhibit celebrating 150 yr anniversary of impressionism. Too much time spent on history of Musee d’Orsay at beginning of tour also. Very disappointing & not nearly worth what paid.

One of my favorite museum tours ever

Outstanding experience !! Tour company was very attentive. When we were a few minutes behind schedule (but before the scheduled meeting time) they called to check on us. The guide Umberto was phenomenal!! Concisely wove together many details about the history and art history of the collection of the Orsay. Engaging and educational. The microphone/headphones were a fantastic way to make sure we didn’t miss a thing.

A real pro!

Ivan was organized and focused on our having a rich experience supported by his truly expert commentary. He had several challenges but did not let them interfere with the memorable experience for the rest of us. A real pro!

Poor response when late

Terrible traffic. Arrived late. Was directed to 3 different lines by staff that were indifferent. After 30 minutes of futility, told there was nothing they could do. We left with frustration and disappointment. We are requesting a refund. All 3 of our other Viotar tours were great. Please honor our request for a refund or we will not be able to provide a provide a good review or recommendation to others. Thank you.

Informative and entertaining

Our guide was knowledgeable and personable and we got to hear the stories of the artists and hear about their struggles through during the transition from the more traditional style art af the times through the impressionist movement as well as see these masterpieces. We thoroughly enjoyed!

Definite time saver

Guide was excellent! Very informative. Made sure we saw all of the highlights. Skip the line was a great timesaver.

Paris traffic beware

The museum was great but travel in Paris was very difficult that day, due to a strike on the Metro the traffic delayed is by more than an hour and if course we missed our meeting time. The let us skip the line but we had to purchase additional tickets inside because the museum tickets from this company, the museum can't accept. It was a lot of money to pay and then not be able to get in, but in the end we accomplished seeing the museum despite the difficulties.
