Disappointed meal

Disappointed to get deviled eggs, plain steak and chocolate cake. For a gourmet French dinner. Didn’t taste like anything I couldn’t do or get myself at a corner restaurant in USA

Not as expected

Though they were expecting us the gourmet dinner with sommelier was really a nice dinner with the waiter telling us where the wine was from. Initially we were to be seated on main restaurant area not the special room but finally did get that room. The dinner was nice and service good but no sommelier to learn from. Would not do again or personally recommend. Rather get a nice restaurant ands Google the wines

The wine pairing with food was good, would have preferred a choice on the mains but apart from this, the evening and experience was excellent, staff were very knowledgable on the wines

Aa soon as we got to the spot, we were welcomed so warm. We sat at the high tops. Emma our server was so sweet and attentive, she paired such an amazing champagne, and wines with our meals. Everything tasted fresh and it all turned out to be very delicious. Truly recommend this place!!! We will be back again 😉

Fantastic experience! Delicious food with expertly matched wine! Our Sommelier provider detailed explanations for the selections made for each course and the entire staff treated us like royalty throughout the entire meal! We would highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting Paris!

Overpriced

Way to expensive for what you actually get. We paid $80/person and based on the menu (both the food and wine pairings) it was probably closer to $40-50 per person if I’m being generous. The wine was excellent and the food was just so-so, but mostly the price is just too high.

Parisian experience at its finest

This tour is a 5 star. My husband and I had a private tasting experience. The experience was suppose to be from 7-10 and when we arrived was told that they close at 8:30 on Fridays and they did not have our contact info to contact us. We decided to stay and was very glad we did. The owner was very attentive, friendly and courteous. We had a delicious dinner and an assortment of champagne, wines and spirits. We ended up staying beyond the closing time chatting with him. We even ordered some bottles to ship home. I would strongly recommend this experience. A truly wonderful evening.

Wonderful experience

We had an amazing meal here: the food was delicious and all perfectly cooked. The wine was fantastic and the waiting staff were all so friendly, spoke excellent English and explained the wine pairings brilliantly. Overall, one of the best meals we’ve ever had and 100% worth it.

An Amazing Experience

This was one of the best meals and meal experience I've ever had! The three courses and the three wines were excellent!! The service was friendly and fun. I can not recommend enough this amazing experience, worth every penny!

The food and wine was great, but the restaurant wasn't aware of viator as they did not see the reservation or that I paid for it already. They let me stay and gave me what I reserved, but they were confused of system.

Unexpected and Delightful

For our last night in Paris, we wanted a genuine French cuisine experience. The experience was a bit different than we expected. Instead of a formal atmosphere and traditional fare, we got a distinctly "hip" experience surrounding by people much younger than us senior citizens. Our dining experience was in a small restaurant named "O Chateau". The 3 courses were exquisitely prepared and presented. Our host and the sommelier walked us through each course and explained the wine pairings. The pace of the meal was good giving us sufficient time to enjoy and savor each part of the experience. The staff spoke English well and answered all our questions. The first course was a salad made with fennel. It was complex and tasty. It was interesting to have a wine specifically paired with a salad. Our main course was either steak or fish. The portions were right and the flavor profile for both meal options was great. The chef did an excellent presentation and the wine was paired specific to the meal. The dessert was an experience unto itself with two options each paired to its own wine selection. The restaurant was near the Louvre and easy to find. We felt safe in the neighborhood even at night. All in all, we great finale to our visit to Paris.

Excellent experience

The food was excellent, the wine was excellent, and the service was unbeatable. All employees had advanced knowledge of all wine. All employees spoke English so we felt very welcomed. I cannot recommend this experience enough. We will go back next time in Paris.

Nice wine bar, friendly staff but didn’t need the tour

The most surprising thing about the event was that I was the only one booked, so didn’t get the experience I was expecting. The wine bar has a good atmosphere with friendly staff and quality food and wine. But I could have gone for a solo dinner without using this tour.

Always wonderful

This is my 4th visit to O Château for wine pairing dinner and I have been recommending it to others. Never got disappointed.

Good Wine & Service

We've opted for the 3 course meal with wine paring. When we arrived our table was ready welcoming us with my name written on an empty Jeroboam sized bottle. Hostess was charming and attentive. First glass was premier cru Champagne, nice fresh way to wet the whistle. For appetizer we've selected fois and cheese. I believe the paired wine was Chard which went really well with the dishes. Main course was steak cooked perfectly. I can't remember the red that was served with the steak but it was full bodied and stood up to the meat and sauce. If you like wine give this restaurant a try they have a good selection available by the glass too. I wouldn't mind returning to O Chateau to sit at the counter to just enjoy many wines served. IMO this wine pairing dinner is geared more towards casual wine drinker who's looking to expand their horizon. If you're more experienced none of the wine served was eye opening or exciting but overall a very well balanced presentation.

Great experience until the end

The food and wine were delicious. The server was very friendly and knowledge about the wine. When I first arrived at the wine bar, I showed my voucher to 2 of the staff members. At the end of the dinner, I confirmed that everything was all set, gave a tip, and left the wine bar. I was halfway down the street when a staff member ran after me and told me that I needed to return to the wine bar as it was not clear that I had paid. I returned to the wine bar, where the owner and one of the staff members that I showed the voucher to initially, demanded to see the voucher again. I explained that I had showed it to her when I arrived and she denied it with an attitude. I showed my voucher again and there were no apologies for their mistake. I'm a little confused on how they knew what to serve me if they did not recall initially see my voucher when I arrived. The ending put a damper on the night and they appear to be very disorganized.

Enjoyable Evening

A very pleasant experience. The dinner was very good and the wine pairing was certainly on spot. The staff was both knowledgeable and friendly. Some of the wines were unknown to us beforehand so we also learned something. All portions, both wine and food, were generous.

Perfect!

My husband and I did this dinner our very first night in Paris. It was perfect! Wonderful service, great wine and delicious food! We were first seated with champagne, then goose pate appetizer with a chardonnay, dinner beef with petite potatoes with a really good red and then desert with a sweet wine. This place is not super fancy. Its a wine bar but I didn't want something super fancy. Instead we conversed with our local servers and had a very pleasant experienced. Our dinner did take a while and our server noticed on her own and refilled our wine since we waited longer than usual. That was excellent service in my opinion!! Highly recommend!!!

Good, but not great. What we loved...

What we loved: the ambiance was lovely...candlelight...fairly quiet...intimate... the dessert was WONDERFUL crêpes au grand marnier with red currants, blueberries and strawberries the originally offered appetizer did not work for me and the waiter graciously offered other options. What we didn't like: the main course was just good. I am glad we tried this but I wouldn't do that again. The restaurant is Ô Chateau. I am hardly a wine connoisseur, so I can't comment on wine selection. It was nice to experiment with wine, however, for those who do understand, here is what was offered: Domaine Barmes-Buecher's Rosenberg wine from Alsace, Domaine du Pas de l'Escalette's Languedoc, and Domaine Hubert et Lignier's Bourgogne Aligote.</p>

Maybe we should have just had wine and cheese

The Thanksgiving dinner was disappointing, very disappointing. The pumpkin soup had seeds in it, great idea , but they had not been shelled. Having chewed my way through the first one the others I put aside. The turkey was a huge chunk of meat that was juicy but what size turkey does a huge chunk come from. It was sitting on a spoonful of collard and the plate was decorated with a ‘comma’ of mashed potatos. - they looked like garnished and not vegetable accompaniment. Had to ask for ‘au jus’. The lava cake was overcooked and no warm chocolate oozed out. The waiter took care of the ground floor room was was not very present in our ‘cave’. We only wanted one glass of wine, not a pairing. The wine was excellent, the price was expensive - our fault, we had not asked. Not a good Thanksgiving at all. Just do for the wines and bar food that are excellent.

Two starters were offered bruschetta with mozzarella cheese surely more Italian than French or fois grois, only one main course beef with 2 types of potato no vegetables, and finally one dessert a rather heavy solid cheesecake. Our waiter I think his name was Omar was brilliant, very friendly and a good laugh. Great with the wine recommendations and nothing was too much trouble for him. There is something here for everyone and the bar itself has a very nice welcoming feel to it.</p>

It turned out it was just me and the bartender - very nice indeed as was everyone at O'Chateaux. It was a bit awkward though. Food and wine were delicious but it wasn't what I was looking for. Great for two or three couples traveling together. Ask if you will be alone or with others.</p>

<p>An overall good experience. First, they were very professional and accommodating: my partner has a gluten intolerance so they were able to get gluten-free bread for him as well as adjust his meal. The food itself was delicious: the main course beef was cooked perfectly and dessert was a lovely fruit crumble with ice cream. I think our server was nervous about speaking in English because, although she was friendly, she didn't provide a lot of information about the wines we were enjoying with our meal and sometimes stumbled to express herself. This is compared to another server who I overheard speaking very passionately about the wines to a couple at a different table. Having said that, we still had a lovely evening and would recommend this to someone who wants to know more about French wine and enjoy a lovely meal.</p>
