Closing Time at the Louvre: The Mona Lisa at her Most Peaceful

Disappointing

Company states tour time was changed after confirmation and though spoke with company personnel at 3pm (original tour time) and confirmed place of meet up, with no mention of time change, this company is being difficult in issuing a refund.

Great way to see the Louvre

Enjoyed this tour in the evening. Great way to spend the evening in Paris. So much to see and they hit all the highlights

Tour problems and very rushed

Just over 2 hours before our tour we received notice that our tour was canceled due to guide cancellation but we were booked on a “similar” shorter tour that was scheduled 45 min after our original tour. We accepted the swap as we really didn’t want to miss the Louvre. We reached the meeting point a little early, maybe 10 mins, and after not finding any guide, started talking to some others in the area that looked a little lost like we were and determined we were in the correct spot. There were other tours in the area with guides with clearly marked signs, but not for our tour. Our guide finally showed up and explained that her coordinator was not to be found, and she doesn’t normally do the check-in process and was trying to reach her company to help her. As I feared, our names were not on her list. Thankfully, the company dealt with it because I had my confirmation number and emails in hand and they recognized that there was something wrong. But the whole issue with the late tour guide and the coordinator who never showed up until we were actually in the museum and already running 20 minutes late on the tour caused it to be a very brief tour. It was supposed to be two hours and it was 90 minutes if that. We ran through the Louvre, stopped at some of the highlights, and the guide was very knowledgeable and very sweet and doing the best she could with the circumstances. But for the amount of money that we paid it was very disappointing because it was so late in the day that we only had 20 minutes left in the Louvre after the tour and they take shutting down the Louvre very seriously. All you can do in last 15 minutes is head to the door. I recognize that our tour had some unusual circumstances and so in fairness to rate the tour I would say that the guide was knowledgeable and worked very hard to make everything work for us. I’m not sure that I would do this tour anyway, though because I thought that we would be able to see more as I expected more of an express experience, but it was was just a few of the highlights with a lot more information than needed for us, so we missed out on a lot of things that I think we would’ve been able to see if we had done this on our own. Also you can’t even get close to the Mona Lisa because to do so you have to wait in a line that the tour doesn’t provide time for. Not sure if that was due to our situation or if typical but disappointing for a tour focused on seeing the Mona Lisa.

Adam was an incredibly insightful tour guide. His knowledge and presentation were truly incredible. Would 100% recommend Closing Time with Mona Lisa walking tour.. Ask for Adam!

Seeing the art in person that you had only viewed in books! The Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, fantastic!

Louvre closing time your

Tour guide was excellent. The vox box not so much. Only had one ear piece so the noise of the crowd and echo was very distracting. Just spent a week on n a riverboat cruise their sound system with regular headphones was much better.

Great Tour of the Louvre

Violette was an amazing tour guide - very knowledgeable, friendly, and a great sense of humor. I learned so much from her tour. This is the best way to see the Musée du Louvre to avoid crowds.

DON’T BOOK WITH WALK FRANCE TOUR COMPANY

ZERO STARS. Despite confirmation and booking #s, Walk France tour company didn’t have us on the list, no way to be added. Left with no apology. Was lied to by tour coordinator. Do not book with Walks France.

Rude and unprofessional!

HORRIBLE! Walks did not have our reservation that we paid $500 dollars for, the tour left without us as we were contacting support that the COORDINATOR was supposed to contact and lied to us that the tour group was just going to the bathroom and would be coming back. Staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful. This was the worst experience we had in Paris. Book with City Wonders instead! So much more helpful and friendly.

Amazing Adam!

Adam was AMAZING!!! He made art interesting and fun. So knowledgeable about everything, great stories and “dad jokes” too. Loved him and can’t wait to take another tour with him—his passion and love of the Louvre is evident throughout the tour. Definitely worth it!!!

Great way to visit Mona, Venus, and Nike!

Our guide was excellent! I highly recommend this tour for first timers to the Louvre. We had plenty of time to visit Winged Victory of Samonthrace, Venus de Milo, and Mona Lisa plus visited several other important works.

Awesome tour

Great guide and a small group allowed us to hit all the big ticket items. We also ended at the Mona Lisa, which wasn't crowded. Great tour.

A pleasant afternoon in the Louvre

Our tour guide Abby did a wonderful job bringing the Louvre to life. She shared its history, walked us through several highlights, and finally led us to the Mona Lisa. She was happy to answer questions from the group as well. Very positive experience!

Guide makes the difference

Our guide was amazing she had really cool makeup and knew so much about the history. I’m sorry I can’t remember her name but I’d love to give her a shout out. We recently did the Versailles tour and it had the worst guide. It helped our Mona Lisa guide stand out even more. So far for us it’s been hit or miss with guides.

Wonderful Louvre

This was the tour I was most looking forward too and it did not disappoint. Emily was knowledgeable and easy to listen too.

A must tour if first time at the Louvre.

Went on the Closing Time at The Louvre tour and it was a great experience. I’d heard how busy the Louvre is and kinda didn’t want to go, but it was my first time in Paris and thought I’d better give it a go. Our guide, Violette, was just amazing. She was funny, charismatic and knowledgeable (plus a dog lover, which is a plus in my book). We saw the Mona Lisa right before closing and it was great. Not a lot of people so got to see her up close without a bunch of pushing and whatnot. Highly recommend and hopefully you’ll get Violette as your guide.

Great tour with Hugo

We had a wonderful tour, Hugo was a fun and passionate guide, perfect for a Louvre tour. Only thing to be aware of is that The Louvre closes shortly after the tour ends…as the name says!

Best Tour EVER!

Wonderful tour of Le Louvre

I’ve joined ed a Walks tour in Rome and was so impressed that I chose Walks again for a small group tour of Le Louvre. Karen our guide was wonderful. Her knowledge of art enhanced our experience. Highly Recommend Walks and Team Adam

The Louvre tour with Adam was awesome! He made the tour informative and fun, and we couldn't imagine a better way to spend our time. We covered a lot of sculpture history, as well as the actual backstory behind the Mona Lisa, which was very interesting! Highlights of the Lourve bought to life.

This was going to be my 4th visit to the Lourve. I didn’t really want to go as previous tours had been a bit dry & boring. My husband hadn’t been before so I went along & boy was I pleased that I did. Adam was our guide. He had me totally enthralled by his stories & explanations. He was so knowledgeable and how he imparted his wisdom was so entertaining. I learnt so much & the time passed so quickly. His tour has been the best we’ve done in Paris so far. Thanks so much Adam, “Team Adam” is tattooed on my heart.

Violette was the best. Super efficient while leaving plenty of time to take in the artwork. With a masters in art history, a great sense of humor, and a knack for finding the quiet space in the storm Violette made the Louvre an excellent experience.

We did the Louvre closing time tour and it was fantastic, highly recommend. Our tour guide was really engaging and the tour wove together a story. We were able to move through the museum really efficiently . Our guide was Adam and he was amazing #teamadam

Ahmed - Best Tour Guide!!

What an excellent tour!! Ahmed was the perfect tour guide!! He was so knowledgeable and taught us about each work of art we visited. We saw all the major works without feeling rushed and seeing the Mona Lisa at closing was perfect!! Only about 10 people were around so easy to take photos and study painting some. Such a fantastic experience!!

A great way to see the museum

We really enjoyed the tour. The length was just enough, we saw the highlights, and our guide was very well informed. Going late in the day was a good idea. Even then, the museum very busy.

A perfect gateway into the Louvre

It was an excellent tour and Abbey was an excellent guide, highly knowledgeable and all around pleasant. Can't understate how much she was able to show us in what ended up feeling like such a short time when you take in just how much is on display.

We took the "Closing Time at the Louvre" tour and could not have been happier with our experience. The agency was easy to book with and everything was well organized. Our tour guide Adam was remarkably knowledgeable, funny and just overall probably one of the best tour guides we have ever had. He made art history interesting and entertaining for my husband whom while he allows me to drag him to art museums on a lot of our travels, this is not typically his favorite thing on the itinerary. The tour combined the history of the Louvre, some tips on Parisian culture and the stories behind some of the most iconic pieces housed in the museum... For me as someone who likes art and has studied some art history, I found it fascinating and I could have spent the whole night just listening to Adam speak. My husband really enjoyed it as well and I think this was his favorite art museum experience ever. I think anyone looking for a great experience while visiting this world famous museum, whether you know something about art or not, would really enjoy this tour. From what I have heard this is also the best time of day and best way to visit this extremely busy and popular site in Paris. Highly recommend! Visited in January

Nice tour

Hugo, our guide was very helpful, knowledgeable with timely information and a touch of humor…. However, this was not a quiet time with the Mona Lisa. The museum was very busy and it was very crowded around her.

This was the highlight of our trip and we are already looking into how to book more Louvre tours with Adam. Adam was engaging, expertly knowledgeable, and really brought the art to life. We really enjoyed this tour with Adam(our tour guide). He was so knowledgeable, yet funny and made the tour very engaging. We entered the museum so fast, and the whole experience was planned out very efficiently around the exhibits schedule to allow us to see and experience the most. Great guide

To be honest, what made this tour special was our guide Violette. She's super knowledgeable and made the full tour feel super fun, not boring at all. The tour lasted 3 hours, yet it felt surprisingly short, a testament to how interesting and absorbing the experience was. Violette skillfully navigated us through the sprawling corridors and galleries of the Louvre, ensuring we saw the most iconic pieces, including the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo, as well as lesser-known gems that we might have overlooked on our own. Her expertise was not just limited to the artwork; she shared insights into the history of the Louvre itself, which added depth to our understanding and appreciation of the museum. Violette answered questions with ease and encouraged curiosity, making everyone feel included, regardless of their prior knowledge of art. Moreover, the pacing of the tour was perfect. Despite the vast amount of ground covered, it never felt rushed. In conclusion, this Louvre tour exceeded my expectations, largely due to our outstanding guide, Violette.

LISTEN!! I was not even signed up for trip advisor to leave a review but WOW Violette Andre was “Top Shelf”. We have completed many of our Walks tours while in Rome/Paris and none of the other guides are close to Violette. She was awesome. Walks is great but Walks with Violette is best you will find.

Informative and fun

Violette was a great tour guide! She really helped us to see the highlights of the Louvre in 3 hours. Her stories added so much historical context to the exhibitions. Highly recommend!

Awesome tour!

We loved our tour with Ahmed! So many things we would never have never known but for him. He is an expert at art and history and was all around amazing! I highly recommend taking the tour. It is worth every penny! The one thing to note…we took the last tour, so were able to have less crowds around the Mona Lisa, but did not have time to see anything but what he showed us. If it’s your first time, you might want to book earlier so you can browse the rest of this incredible museum on your own.

A great introduction to the Louvre

We really enjoyed this tour. We were only in Paris a short time for work, but felt we got a ton out of this experience and definitely recommend it for others. Our guide, Adam, was exceptional.

Great use of time

Our guide was amazing. She knew so much information and was incredible. We were very efficient in hour 3.5 hour together. Got to see all the main attractions and got a good sense of what all was in the museum. It’s impossible to go to the Louvre without a guide unless you are spending several days there. Love our tour and how much we got to see in such little time.

Amazing!

Im glad that I went for the museum visit at night. Lesser crowds so you can walk around a bit freely. Emily, tour of our guide was amazing and she share a lot of info with us but never make it boring. There’s a lot to see in the museum and i manage to get really close to Mona Lisa which is great. Definitely recommend if you dislike crowds and want to see the art in the museum up close

Don’t do it!

We were unable to find the meet up place in time (we were only a few minutes late due to a poor drop off by our Uber driver) and were left outside the museum without tickets we had paid for to enter. I would NOT recommend the hassle or stress (or the loss of hundreds of dollars on tickets)! We went in on our own, paid a fraction of the price for self guided and enjoyed the museum’s beauty on our own. Sad start to our first time in Paris.

Great tour but the title maybe easily misunderstood.

The tour was excellent. Our tourguide, Stephanie, was a knowledable art historian who was able to make each artwork so much more interesting with her wonderful stories and sense of humour. The small and intimate group setting worked great too. The only reason why I only gave this 4/5 star was due to the somewhat misleading title of the tour. When I signed up, I was under the impression that we would be able to access the Mona Lisa when it was quieter, but this was not the case when we were there, as when we got to the Mona Lisa at around 5:30pm, the room was still quite packed with people so not at all 'peaceful'. Perhaps the tour can offer this information more clearly in the description so people don't get the wrong idea or have incorrect expectations of the tour. However, mainly thanks to our wonderful tourguide, the whole experience was great and the Mona Lisa was probably the least interesting artwork we saw (due to other artworks being infinitely better).

Wow, Violette was truly amazing! She is professional, very knowledgeable and plus she has a great sense of humor so 2.5hr-3hr rather went by fast! I am so thankful for all the knowledge/insight she shared with the group I left the Louvre feeling educated and have different level of appreciation with history/art! Highly recommend it!

Family Trip to the Louvre

We booked this months ago after reading a review on a site which raved about this particular tour. Overall this was a very good tour which we highly recommend. As with anything there are personal +- which you yourself have to weigh if it impacts your personal preferences. First of all, our tour guide/host Emily was fabulous! She was very knowledgeable, had a sense of humor and that made the tour all that much more enjoyable. The directions for the meeting spot were clear. We met the tour host who explained that our guide, Emily, would be with us shortly. Now we are not museum or art aficionados so when asked what we wanted to see, of course the Mona Lisa right? We were a group of 4 adults, 2 teens. We were amazed just how big the Louvre is and Emily did a great job at keeping us in a certain area of the museum which would ultimately allow us the quickest access to the Mona Lisa. Now for the up/down - Mona Lisa room is a cattle call (no queue line) where you just wait to inch forward until you are close enough for a non-fuzzy picture. Worth it? To me, yes! However you can be there 30 min and only love a little bit and apparently if it’s just (as with our evening) they will close the room a little earlier. Our tour I believe was set for 3 hours; it was ended short with us wanting to go back into the Mona Lisa room. Now it was short so some of you may say “well I paid for 3 hours” however for us, there was A LOT of walking and so we didn’t mind so much. We did have access to the museum until close after our guide left, and we could have spent it entirely in the Mona Lisa room (or other exhibit as we saw fit) but after 2 hours and lots of steps & stairs; we were ready for dinner. All in all - worth the $$ and time in our opinion but know 3 things: 1. There is a lot of walking & stairs. 2. The Mona Lisa room, depending on busyness can be a bit and 3. it’s the Louvre, this tour will NOT cover everything but it will cover everything it can in the time allotted.
