Micheel was an excellent informative guide. He showed me a side to Oxford that I hadn't seen before. And kept us all engaged with questions about the films.

Excellent tour with fabulous guide!

Excellent tour the whole family loved! Naima did a fantastic job of showing us beautiful Oxford, showing us Harry Potter filming locations, pointing out details around town related to Alice in Wonderland, gave us tons of history about Oxford College and tips for dining and entertainment! We saw things we never would have seen on our own. Naima was a joy and even had props for photos she brought with her.

Fantastic

We were a family of four with two older teenagers. When we booked this tour, I wasn't sure how interested they would be in this kind of thing . Peter made the tour fun and very informative. There were lots of "bonus facts" and quizes. We were fascinated how the authors linked in with each other. The Harry Potter gown, hat and wand were a big hit ( with one daughter!) who kept it on all the tour. This really made the photos special. Both the girls and adults thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon . When we booked, we thought it was quite expensive, but actually, the tour was well worth it. We were not rushed, and the whole tour ended up taking 3 hours. Peter was happy to answer questions and was very knowledgeable about both Oxford , Harry Potter and famous Oxford authors. We are now planning a return visit and intend to do another tour.

Great Tour of Harry Potter with Oxford

e had a fantastic experience! Our guide Peter was very knowledgeable and engaging with our children. He had extensive knowledge of Harry Potter and really made it fun for the kids. At the end of the tour, he took the extra time to share his own experience and knowledge of Oxford, which really added to our Oxford experience. For this reason, we highly recommend this tour and will definitely be using them in the future! The knowledge of the tour guide and the engagement with our children.

Horrible!

No directions and follow up communication was nothing but rude and unprofessional. We went to the wrong meeting place and even Christ church employees said they were unprofessional

Excellent tour by a very knowledgeable guide

Our guide (sorry, I can’t remember his name) was excellent. Extremely informative, kept the whole group (8 all up) enthralled with the stories he was able to tell us, both about the buildings we were looking at as historical buildings within the University colleges, and how the particular rooms were used in the Harry Potter movies, and also other shows that sites had been used in. Very entertaining, and excellent value tour.

Excellent tour!

Our family had a fantastic tour with Zoe! We are big Harry Potter fans but we also really wanted to learn about Oxford, its architecture, and its other celebrated authors (Tolkien, Lewis, and Carrol). Zoe's tour was perfect. As a current student, we learned so much about life at Oxford and its colleges. Despite the extreme heat (98 degrees), Zoe was friendly, patient, and engaging. She took lots of extra time to answer questions, take our photos, and provide us with a great deal of information in a captivating way. We cannot thank her enough. We highly recommend this tour.

Absolutely Perfect Morning Tour!

I can't speak highly enough of this tour and our guide, Peter, especially. To begin, the directions for where to meet were clear and easy to find. Peter arrived on time with Harry Potter robes for our girls (11 & 15) to wear during the tour. What was supposed to have been a group tour ended up being a private tour - just Peter and our family. He was clearly knowledgeable about both Oxford and its history and Harry Potter and thoroughly engaged all of us throughout our time together. Because this turned out to be a private tour we were able to spend a bit more time in places, go into extra detail, etc. Peter made a point of pointing out literary and theatrical places of interest throughout and made a point of making time for photos. When we were in the walkway, clearly recognizable from the movies, he even provided us with a delicious English treat as a snack while he regaled us with stories. Completely unrelated to the tour we were on, we mentioned our afternoon plan to head to Blenheim Palace and he checked with his business partner to confirm that the ticket option I had found was indeed the most cost effective. He did not have to do that but I sincerely appreciated his thoughtfulness. We also discussed a movie that he recommended during the tour and afterward he took the time to send an email with the name and links on where to find it as well as a family photo of us he had taken on his phone. This was a fabulous tour, well worth our time and money. I would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Oxford who is a Harry Potter fan.

Good place to visit

Lovely place to visit we were allowed into the hall after 1 if you go you might want to check opening times it does get very busy we went in a week day so weekends maybe even busier . But we’ll worth going to.

Lots of rain didn't dampen the fun!

My daughter (age 12) and I loved the Harry Potter tour to Christchurch College! Peter, the tour guide, was chockful of fun and quirky facts about Oxford and the filming of Harry Potter. He even brought Hogwarts robes for us for photo opps-- as well as little Bakewell tarts. The rain was unrelenting (my shoes are still soaked), but Peter worked hard to keep everyone dry and cheerful. Thanks so much!

Couldn't have been better

I brought my teen age daughter on a group walking tour with Peter. He was knowledgable, courteous and funny. I'm normally the kind of tourist who hates walking around with small groups because I'm impatient to move quickly through the sights. This was perfectly timed and exceptionally intriguing. We'd love to come back some day and enjoy some of the other tours that Oxford Tours offers.

Great time

We happened upon our tour guide Peter while he was just starting his tour. It was so much fun and informative. Peter especially made the tour memorable.

Great day out

I really enjoyed the walking tour, very informative, love the treats and extras, also loved that the guide took our photos of us also, so not every picture needed a selfie! we where lucky as only 7 people where on the tour which made it even more special. my advise if you also making a dinner reservation after the walk maybe don't book it to 2 just incase :)

A Walk Around Oxford with Peter

There were 4 in our group so it was a small tour compared to others I had been on using Trip Advisor. That was just fine and made the experience more personal. We met Peter in front of the Tourism office right at 10:30. One of the members of our group didn't bring an umbrella so Peter was able to provide one which was very nice!! We set out and Peter showed us some of the neat old things about Oxford and of course several of the filming sites for the Harry Potter films in London. There is quite a bit of walking on cobblestone streets so be prepared and wear comfortable shoes. He had some film clips on his phone of the scenes that were shown at each location. We visited the Bodelyn Library, the Christchurch Cloisters and the Dining Hall. We were not able to see much of the dining hall due to an unadvertised luncheon..much to Peter;s dismay. He brought chocolate and some cakes (tarts) on the tour and we had stopped a couple of times to partake in those goodies. Peter's knowledge of Oxford was outstanding and he went the extra mile to show us as much as he could. The tour was only supposed to last 1.5 hours but i think ours lasted 2.5 hours. At the end of the tour He personally guided us through the Covered Market and to the big bookstore in town. He was very accommodating and took pictures of each group of two at various spots on the tour.. If you are looking for a guide that knows his stuff and is willing to go the extra mile, This is the tour for you.

Excellent Tour

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Peter. There was a lot of communication leading up to the tour and the information helped us plan our trip to Oxford and our expectations for the tour. Peter was in tune to our needs, we never felt rushed and he expertly answered all of our questions about the history, the area, and Harry Potter. He is extremely knowledgeable. Our tour ended at Blackwell's bookshop which was the perfect ending.

Totally Worth It

We managed to book a slot at 2.30pm. Weather was very cold and I was a bit unwell. Our guide, Michael, was very patient and the tour lasted 2.5 hours! He quizzed the children and shared insightful stories about the filming and how the sites inspired the movie. He also shared very interesting historical information about the other authors and history of the University/ Chapel and how these inspired JK Rowling and subtlety affected the key parts of the movies which we didn’t realise. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it.

Excellent tour!

The tour was awesome! Peter, the guide, is very knowledgeable about the city, history and Harry Potter. He went the extra mile to make us feel special and he took us to the Museum of Science. It was a great experience to learn some of Oxford’s history. Thank you Peter.

Definitely put an Oxford 'Tour with Tanaya' on your 'must-do' list!

In addition to an interest in Oxford, history, culture and architecture we are avid 'Harry Potter' fans, so we were hoping our tour of Oxford would address this diversity and it did not disappoint!!! Our tour guide 'Tanaya' was incredible. She is a remarkable young woman, recent graduate of Oxford and a veritable walking encyclopedia of information.... not dry facts, but a delightful sharing of experiences, history and traditions. The richness and depth of her conversations was inspired and inspiring. She was amazing and our tour with her checked all the boxes. She focused on important buildings in Oxford including Divinity Church with its quintessential fan vault ceiling and other Harry Potter filming sites. Our 'Tour with Tanaya' was a real highlight of our stay in Oxford. Thanks again Tanaya for all you did to make our stay in Oxford such a wonderful memory!

Excellent tour!!

Went on the Christchurch Harry Potter Tour with a few friends and we had such a great time! Our guide, Peter, was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and he really made sure we had a great time. Could not recommend more!

Christchurch Harry Potter

Communication and arrangements were efficient. We covered all that was advertised, including the filming locations, and a great deal more besides. Our guide, Peter, was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable, and clearly loves Oxford and its history, architecture and culture. The tour consequently lasted longer than planned - there was no clock watching. This was a great introduction to Oxford, and covered afar more than we could have done on our own. Highly recommended tour.

Better than expected

We husband, 13 yr old son, and I had two days in Oxford. We wanted to see the Harry Potter film locations and learn about Oxford University. Our guide Peter was the best. He had a larger group but he included everyone and did not make us feel rushed. The tour was very educational and we are glad we spent the money instead of trying to do a self guided tour. My 13 yr old was interested in every bit Peter had to say. Peter is able to give a lot information but still keep all ages excited to listen. Highly recommend a tour with Peter.

Peter and Oxford walking tour

This was the best tour we’ve ever been on! Peter was amazing! You will not regret booking this tour- so many fun facts! If we would of been thinking straight we would of just followed Peter to his next tour destination. It really was such a lovely tour I can’t say enough about how great it was!

Peter the Great

My wife and I came off a Transatlantic cruise from Miami and spent two days in Oxford before heading home. We were most fortunate to schedule a tour that had Peter as our guide. He is a master student at New College. He knows Oxford and the literary figures like the back of his hand. He disseminates all his knowledge in a compelling and entertaining way. Our tour lasted about 3 1/2 hours as we ended up at the Eagle and Child Pub.My wife and I had a pint and Peter kept filling our head with Oxford history. We went to places you would have a hard time locating on your own or even know they existed. At New college he showed us a tree that was in the 4th Harry Potter film and then pulled out his smartphone and played the clip of the characters in action. We went to Turf Tavern in a small back alley (try to find it on your own) which has a rich history of famous people drinking there. Peter weaves you thru the colleges and literary figures in an easy informative manner. Peter brings snacks and Harry Potter gowns to put on for pictures. We went to Blenheim Palace the next day and Peter saved us $20 on Transportation cost by advising us to bus back to Oxford and cab back to our hotel. While we were in Oxford the 2nd day we went a saw the Einstein Chalkboard that has his actual calculations from years ago under glass. Who knew it existed---Peter did. Peter is a very customer friendly guide. He is very bright and can make your tour very special. Easy to get connected once the tour is scheduled. You meet up at the Oxford Visitor Center on Broad street.

Harry Potter's Wonderland

“Experience Oxfordshire”: The “Oxford Official Walking Tours” offer two-hour-walks through the streets of Oxford visiting a college or two, pointing out general places of interest and places that are related to the topic of the specific tour. For instance, you get to see the “Turf Tavern” where Morse and Lewis had a pint, when you choose the “Inspector Morse, Lewis and Endeavour Tour". On the "Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland Tour” you spend quite some time in Christchurch College where you visit the Tudor Great Hall that was replicated at the Warner Brother Studios as the dining hall at Hogwarts. Then there is the staircase which leads up to the Great Hall: It was used for the arrival scene for new Hogwarts students in the first two Harry Potter films. Greetings from Prof. McGonagall ;-) Our Harry-Potter-tour-guide Kate was very knowledgeable and could answer questions from any province. As we were interested in books, she told us told about the three miles of shelves in Blackwell’s, and we popped in there to take a look at them in the Norrington Room before we continued the tour looking at certain exhibits of interest in the Museum of the History of Science. Once again we had a lovely day in Oxford and we look forward to our next walking tour.

Harry Potter and literary tour

Fantastic tour with Peter. Such a beautiful city and so interesting. Very attentive and tailored the tour well to our interests. Our 7 yr old daughter really enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you Peter!

I would have expected more

Unfortunately, the most important Harry Potter filming locations were not shown. The tree in Oxford's New College, for example, was not visited, which I don't think is a good thing, as it is almost the most important filming location. To be fair, the location of New College is not mentioned in the tour description, so it would make sense to book a tour with this option. The tour is more Oxford-focused and less about Harry Potter. I think a standard tour that costs less is very similar but cheaper, but everyone has to decide for themselves.
