Bamboo River Rafting Experience from Ocho Rios

Pleasureable

The music playing on the raft set the tone, the guide giving us a small history chat about the white river and showing us blue crabs, and the massage which was the icing on the cake. Tour guide was just so pleasant. They made my kids swing on a tire. They had so much fun. I stopped and got some delicious conch soap as well. It was a great experience.

Best rafting experience

This tour was amazing, from the bamboo rafting captain to the company we booked with for the tour. Everyone was so welcoming and kind. I really enjoyed this bamboo rafting tour and will recommend it to my family and friends.

A whole vibe

The vibes of the people were very inviting and enjoyable. They were very accommodating and our Rafter Jay was amazing.

Good Times Mon

Very nice & chill experience. We went 1st thing in the am and nothing was open but it was very relaxing exactly what my wife liked. Our guide informed us of many things and we got to take some beautiful pictures.

Great experience with SSJ Tours! On time hotel pick up and a lovely, peaceful cruise down the White River. Our rafter was friendly and stopped along the route to get us mangoes and shared local stories about the various flora and fauna. Highly recommend!

It was never a dull moment with our driver Marco from the moment we were picked up to the day we left had us debating on extending our stay. Great experience!

We had such a great time from pick up, all through the excursion, and drop off. Jamoy was attentive and awesome. Our raft rowers, Andre and Realting, were very funny and kind. I’d 100% come back.

Greatest Jamaican experience, 10 out of 10

We absolutely enjoyed our time in Ocho Rios thanks to SSJ Tours, especially Jay and Jason. From our airport transfers to our excursions, both were very professional and knowledgeable. They shared the cultural history as we rode through different parishes. Our excursions and tours were a 10 out of 10 and were customized to our desire. We will definitely be returning to Jamaica and willl be using SSJ Tours again.

Relaxing reset

If you are looking for a relaxing yet exciting and beautiful sail on a bamboo raft this is it! This excursion comes with transportation , big plus, our driver Jason was very personable and got us to our destination safely. The rafting comes with a beautiful view, opportunities to take pictures on the raft and they offer the limestone massage, left my legs feeling so smooth and soft. Our driver back Jamoy was a blast he had my friends and I laughing on our way back to the hotel. I completely recommend this experience to everyone visiting Jamaica !

Worst bamboo raft ride in Jamaica.

This was an awful experience. It took about a half hour just to get the raft untangled from all the other rafts that were grounded. Then once free we went about another block and that was as far as we could go because according to our rafter guy some other company owned the rest of the river and they couldn't go any further. He then pulled us back up the river to let us off. The "river" was pretty dry so it was a lot of work. Very painful experience. $100 for a terrible block and a half raft ride. And he expected us to tip him too. Along with the $200 taxi ride. Total rip off. We went to the Martha Brae bamboo raft ride the next day, and that was very nice.

Perfect Excursion For The First Day in Ocho!

We had an amazing time! The driver picked us up from our Airbnb and kept us entertained during the drive. The rafting itself was incredible! Our guide was funny and let us control the playlist. He gave us a brief history of Jamaica and didn't pressure us to stop at any of the vendors along the river unless we asked. Easily a 10/10 excursion.

The rafting experience was beautiful.. we took tons of pictures, the massage was awesome, very peaceful.. I have ABSOLUTELY NO COMPLAINTS can’t wait to do it again

Great honeymoon excursion

It was such a beautiful way to begin our day!! My husband and I are on our honeymoon. He’s never been to JA before, this was a great excursion for him to experience what this beautiful place has to offer!!🖤🇯🇲

The Bamboo Rafting is amazing and very peaceful can’t go wrong with this. Everything about it was beautiful including our guy which I forgot his name but I remembered 01/27 was his birthday an amazing man.

Fun on a river raft

Wear flip flops or something because you will get wet feet. Our guide told interesting stories and jokes. We have done a similar trip before on the Maryha Brae. Either are fun.

Good and bad

I was not told to bring small USD cash. It is memorable in that the captains of the bamboo rafts were excellent. The vendors were not. A photographer tried to charge us $80.00 for pictures, and one guy wanted $10.00 for a drinkable coconut. They are 3-5$ elsewhere.

Terrible tourist trap, activity consisted of 1h drive, 15 mins rafting and 15 mins on a beach

Wow, so disappointing. You know that feeling when you’ve been ripped off…if that’s what you’re looking for, book this activity with SSJ Tours. We were looking for a family activity for six of us in age range 2-70 years old. Got picked up at the hotel by 9.15am and drove for 30 mins to Rio Nuevo where the rafting started. We rafted for 10 mins, around 500 meters, during which we were offered to buy stuff. Then arrived at the beach where we were offered to buy more stuff, we rafted for another 5 minutes back to the place where we started and were again offered to buy stuff. Then the 30 minute drive back to the hotel. The activity time consisted of 1 hour driving, 15 mins rafting and 15 min stop on the beach all during which people were trying to flog us things. This was terrible!

Amazing!! Definitely Recommend!!

My family and I loved the excursion!! Everything was an easy process. It included pick-up and drop-off. Jay was our driver and he was awesome! Sanjay was our rafting tour guide and we had so much fun with him. He took amazing photos and videos of us. He also put music and we were all vibing. The trip takes you to a beautiful beach and an opportunity to buy souvenirs from locals. Next time we go to Jamaica, we will do this again!!

Waste of money and time.

This was a big disappointment compared to the one I did 5 years ago in Jamaica. The distance was too short and there was nothing to see on the route.

Texans in Jamaica

We enjoyed the river rafting but we were unable to choose the raft that we would have preferred...it seems that you have to pre-pay for the "nicer" rafts, which we didn't know about. Also, we did not like stopping on the small strip island for shopping at the locals' markets...maybe a food stop would be better or no stops at all...but the raft driver was nice...he let my husband try to drive the raft!

Jamoy was the best!!! He was very professional, safe, fun and made sure we explored Jamaica outside of the resort. I will be booking with him again very soon 🥳🥳

A MUST do

It was awesome. I thoughts it was going to be a longer experience but for the amount time, it was great. We had a gentleman named Flowers and he was great! Highly recommended. Bring water shoes!

BEST RELAXING EXCURSION

Everyone is so kind and respectful! Captain CJ was the best and Andre’s Tours took us there. His driving and expertise was great! The limestone massage is not included but it’s worth the $30! they take you to a mini private island where they take pictures and you can buy souvenirs

Short & Sweet Ochos Rios Bamboo River Raft - Experience Your Way… Totally Recommend.

We had a great experience. Loved that we could enjoy this excursion and then get back to our resort for afternoon beach time. We were picked up at our hotel by Jay the owner / our driver in a clean small shuttle bus. Once we arrived at the river location we headed straight to the raft. The raft captain was great, fun, energetic, and what strength he had pushing us on the raft with a long bamboo stick while dancing to the music. There were plenty of picture moments. They stop along the way so you can grab a beverage - rum punch, beer, water, soda, etc. 💰 cash only By the time we got to the end of the river, there are senver vendors and honestly, IMO the most spectacular view. On our return to our resort, we stopped to grab lunch at a Jamaican cuisine, which was deelish and made it back for afternoon beach time. Would highly recommend this company for a future excursions and / or transportation needs. Check them out. You won’t be disappointed… awesome customer experience.

Highly recommend

I just want to say this was the best experience ever from the pick up to the drop off! Jamoy was amazing he picked us up on time and got us to our excursion on time. Once we got there he did everything for us to get get started with our tour. Our tour took a little longer than expected but he waited and was so understanding. Jamoy even made a little detour for us to grab some souvenirs and one of the shops right outside our resort and then dropped us off. If you have the opportunity to book with him please do he is definitely a good time and I highly recommend him!!! Hey Jamoy I’ll see you again my friend

Start the day on the river!

Nice activity to start your day! The staff was very friendly and the river wasn’t too long and was very pretty. They also let you stop for beers mid way and you end at a beautiful beach. We did this before heading to Dunns River Falls and it was a perfect day.

Did not live up to my expectations

This tour was not what I was expecting and quite disappointing. The river ride was very short and beach we were taken was rocky and you could not swim

Best. Tour. Ever.

Jay was the best tour guide I have ever had in my entire life. He was knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating and very pleasant to be around. Very professional and his vehicle was very clean. Bamboo rafting was so refreshing, I learned so much about the natural foliage and freshwater fish from Mr. Lloyd. Would recommend SSJ to anyone visiting Ocho rios for this tour or any other. 10/10. He was also very willing to take us to explore other parts of the city.

Nice and short trip on the river

Our raft guide Jason was very nice and entertaining. The water was beautiful and it was a nicely timed trip up and back. The beach portion was beautiful and great for pictures.

This was an amazing...

This was an amazing experience all around. I loved the view from where you could see the ocean from the river. The view there was so beautiful and you were able to get out and walk to the ocean.

Don't do it.

Raft trip is not at all as pictured. Rode a raft for a short distance up behind a window- and door-making factory, turned around and went past same area down to ocean and back to starting point - a pretty skeevy-looking area. Would never do it again. Did not feel safe on the drive to the river or that we got our money's worth. Raft trip itself felt safe. Driver and raft guide were very nice, but the rest was pathetic. Spend your money elsewhere

Book this experience!

We really enjoyed this experience. The best customer service and hospitality ever. They made this more than just rafting, it literally was an experience and we felt so safe. I would recommend this to anyone and I would do it all again! We passed on the limestone treatment but for a heads up it’s $40 for half body and $80 for whole body.

Extremely relaxing...

Jamoy and Lloyd were both complete gentlemen! The bamboo raft ride with Lloyd was extremely relaxing accompanied by great, educational conversation. After, I had a mini tour with Jamoy. This was a great way to see some of Ocho Rios which I valued very much. Thank you both! 🖤✨

Just chilled

What a fantastic chilled excursion just sit back and take in all the sights , it’s a bit manic down by the river with all the boat operators touting for business but other than that this was a great bamboo boat trip , you can grab a cold beer as you go past vendors on the bank then turn around and get ferried down the beach where you stop and take 5 the beach area itself is just beautiful . A big thank you to Noel the boat operator and Omar at PON TIME TOURS who took care of us .

Nice experience

Nice experience & environment. It allows you to enjoy the nature. The captain was very polite and told us about the river streams.

Great Excursions

The tour driver was very great (Jason). Also he took some pictures of my sister and I so we can have the experience to view again, however, I forgot to get those pictures. White river rafting with...

White river rafting with Captain Pickle was fun. We had a nice time in this short excursion. We also tried our hands at rafting for a little bit.

Not worth the money

Bamboo rafts are Original and the foliage was nice. The area was full of garbage and commercial. $60 is for a quick ride up and back the river, money grab at the swing where you are made to feel it’s included, but then cornered into paying for a 1 minute swing ride. Barely one hour in total when advertising 1 hour and 40 minutes. Felt ripped off. Guides were wonderful but overall not good value for money.
