A great days diving with the Sun Reef crew

The Sun Dive crew were welcomming and fun from the initial contact, we were 7 divers and keen for a dive at the last minute. Gypsy at reception made it all happen found the crew and confirmed good to go. We had a great days diving under the guidance of Josh and Heidi, with Zane manning the boat. First dive around the wreck, lots of life the second dive was straight through the bowels of the boat, great trip and many thanks we had a magnificent day.

Good safe crew

Good crew really friendly and competent. Felt very safe doing my first wreck dive. Great abundance of marine life including Eagle Ray, Barracuda, stone fish, puffer fish etc… visibility outside the wreck reduced due to choppy seas but once inside was clearer.

Awesome Open Water Dive Course

We completed our PADI open water dive course at Sunreef Mooloolaba. The crew at Sunreef could not be more amazing! Sheridan, Matt, Angelica, Annika, and Paul all took such good care of us and made the whole experience feel really safe and exciting. They even arranged a special charter so that we could complete our final dives in time for travel. Added bonus - we heard whales singing to us under water off Mudjimba Island. Highly recommend.

It was a great dive.

We dived the ex-HMAS Brisbane and it was a good dive. We penetrated the wreck in the second dive and it was fun. There were plenty of fish and the water was 21 degrees C in July. The Sunreef crew did a good job. They are well organised and helpful.

Great dive on old HMAS Brisbane

Great dive today, very good briefing, experienced team, excellent dive boat. Lots of fish, great to see the amount of soft and hard coral throughout the old Brisbane. Gun busters need to lift their game as the gun barrels don’t have any polish on them. Will be back for more dives for sure

Exceptional...

Dived the ex HMAS Brisbane with a group of friends. All of us work within the dive industry and were impressed with the staff and the operation at Sunreef. Our divemaster Johnny was professional and knowledgeable, despite the poor visibility provided an exceptional diving experience. I would recommend this experience to everyone and am already looking forward to planning my next trip with Sunreef.

Sensational HMAS Brisbane dive!

Sensational day out on the water with Roman, Mark and Holly! The boat was immaculate, the staff super professional and accomodating and the diving was awesome. This is an extremely well run operation. The ex HMAS Brisbane is an awesome dive site and we were really blessed with some decent conditions today. Heaps of fish to see in addition to the maze of corridors of the ship itself. We cannot recommend this team enough - book a dive with them and you will not be disappointed! 🤿

Awesome diving with Sunreef Mooloolaba

Sunreef is professional and friendly at the same time. The team are friendly and helpful and always making sure everyone is safe. We had a fantastic double dive on the HMAS wreck. The dives were amazing and we were lucky with calm oceans, good vis and beautiful whale calls. The crew were very informative, at all times it was very clear what we were going to do and what we would do if anyone was in distress. Will definitely dive with Sunreef again!

Just book it, what a day

What a fantastic team Sunreef are, we couldn’t have asked for better hospitality, safety and fun on our trip today. The diving was awesome but what made the day was the service and friendliness we received. Awesome Abby has to be a standout, but everyone from reception to skipper to dive crew were fabulous. The dive boat Tsunami is so well set up, comfortable and roomy, one of the best day dive boats we have experienced in the world. Thanks guys, what a day of memories we had.

Highly do not recommend

There were limited options to dive the HMAS Brisbane and I was mentally prepared from reading the bad reviews I’ve read about Sunreef regarding customers not being able to find their names when they sign in, disorganised operation, etc. To make sure everything runs smoothly (from our part), we deliberately arrived early to check in and get our equipment ready. At the equipment check area, they told everyone to take turns to check the equipment and told us to wait when we asked where was our tanks. Despite having checked in at the counter with our names and dive certification cards, they realised they do not have our booking and hence did not get our equipment ready. This was not possible as they made us confirm our equipment rental online just a couple of days prior and we have physically checked in at the counter just a few minutes ago when we arrived but apparently they did not actually checked our names. When they sorted it out, we only got our equipment just when the boat was leaving and it was very rushed, which did not give us much much confidence in the dive. The conditions were pretty bad and the dive guide made us dived pretty deep as an ‘orientation’ of the wreck on the first dive, this has resulted in us hitting no deco time pretty early on in the second dive when we penetrated the wreck. It is always a good practice to dive deep in the first dive but perhaps with the bad visibility, we could have been more conscious of our no deco and spend more time during our second dive within the wreck itself. Also, just before our second dive, after our entire dive group has gotten into the choppy waters, the dive guide realised that he has lost his dive watch on the boat. The entire group had to wait in the choppy water while people were getting sick as he fumbled to find his watch on the boat. This dive operation did not instill much confidence in us, which is key to an enjoyable dive trip. This is the most disorganised dive trip I have been on, and it is fresh on my mind one year on. I hope they have worked this out.

Awesome dive, great crew and staff! Everything was well run and organised. Jonny showed the wreck off to perfection - including octopus, and a cameo from a massive grouper 🎏🐠🐟

What a great day

I had a great morning diving with Sunreef. Very professional and enthusiastic team that made me feel welcome in their world. Great dive boat, briefing, consideration and care shown for all divers. Whilst it was a rough day, swell and weather wise, the diving was fantastic on both dives. Unforgettable. Thanks for a great day. I can't recommend Sunreef enough.

Epic first wreck dive. Great standard of hire equipment and was well looked after by the entire crew. Delicious soup and chocolate snack mid dives :) Our dive guide Poovan was knowledgeable and friendly. Would reccomend to all!!

Hmas brisbane

Amazing morning trip to the HMAS Brisbane with Sunreef. A the staff were polite, friendly and professional. The guided dive was initially on the onside of the board and the second dive was throughout the inside of the board. The board considered of so many layers.... amazing dive and lots of fish. 😀

HMAS Brisbane day trip aboard Tsunami

Spent a superb morning out on Tsunami at the HMAS Brisbane wreck. Brilliant boat and awesome skipper and dive crew. Brilliant diving and saw Stingrays and Lionfish, a Turtle, and a million fish!!! The wreck is getting better and better as the years go by.

Great team and great location

Had my first dive with Sunreef a couple of days ago and we went out to HMAS Brisbane, another first. Sunreef is an extremely professional operator and their crew both in the shop and on the boat are outstanding. Their boats have to be the best I have been on, plenty of room to move around and change into dry clothes after your dive and even better, for the ladies a toilet onboard. There is room under the seats for wet gear and there is storage up top for anything you want to keep dry. As a diver who likes to take a camera, there is plenty of room on board for this. Safety is paramount and the crew are willing to do everything for you. Can't rate the crew and this dive centre more highly. I will be a return visitor for sure and can't wait to get back in the water with them. As a first time diver on HMAS Brisbane, the first dive is an orientation on the outside of the ship, the second dive we spent the majority of the dive in the ship. For someone who thought it might be claustrophobic inside those narrow corridors and in total darkness, I was surprised at how relaxed I felt. Maybe that was Johnny our guides influence. Personally the fish life on the outside was something that has to be seen to be believed. I have dived in some great locations but I have never seen so many fish in one area. Outstanding. And I should add, the visibility was not the best. Thanks to Ben the skipper who offered so much support and Johnny who did a fabulous job of guiding us through the maze of doors and corridors.

Excellent from start to finish

Very easy straightforward booking and sign in process. Highly professional outfit with good quality gear. The dive is fantastic particularly penetrating the wreck is awesome. Gloves highly recommended - lots of sharp edges.

Very professional operators

I found them to be a very professional operator. They made this a very pleasurable dive and the crew were great. The HMAS Brisbane is a relatively easy wreck dive in fair weather conditions and I'd recommend even for divers without a great deal of experience.

Never again - look for a company that values its customers.

Firstly - the crew were awesome! In very challenging conditions they supported, encouraged and led - which is good because there is a distinct lack of leadership with management. The dive should never have proceeded - 3m swell, severe current and challenging wind conditions meant that everyone on board became sick. Those that managed to dive faced terrible visibility. Terms and conditions clearly stipulate no refund for sea sickness but that should be during normal conditions not when the dive has not been cancelled but should have been. I contacted management in order to discuss perhaps a credit or a discount for future tours but they obviously are not concerned with customer experience or return custom as the General Manager (Matt) showed no leadership, courage of free thought in abdicating all responsibility to his crew. Seriously look at another dive company.

Extremely disappointed

Sunreef need to consider the safety & overall experience more of the customers. Than caring more about the money factor. Extremely disappointed !!! I have 3 others that dive in my family & many friends. Which would have dive the HMAS Brisbane wreck again & other adventures with Sunreef offer. But now, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone even if they're the only dive company operating.

10/10 would dive again. Went snorkelling to Mudjimba Island on Tues, dived HMAS Brisbane wed, reef dives Thur and Fri. Crew all very friendly and professional, very helpful, dive boat and equipment excellent condition, very safe.

Poor customer service/communication

I called Sunreef Mooloolaba on Thursday 3rd Dec 2020 & asked if there were any trips going on Friday 4th Dec. They said no. So we spent 4 hours Friday morning trying to find a way to get to Mudjimba Is to do snorkelling. There were no other options, so I called Sunreef again this morning (day after we'd asked if there were any trips to Mudjimba Is) & Matt told me a trip had left earlier this morning & there'd be no more trips until next Thurs. How disappointed I was. Why did they say just yesterday that there were no trips on Fri? I leave the Sunshine Coast early tomorrow & this was my (& my father's) last opportunity to snorkel this spot. Very disappointed in Sunreef Mooloolaba; very poor customer service.

Smooth Operator

I've worked up in Cairns as a Dive Instructor for a couple of years, so trust me when I say these guys have a smooth operation going! The vessels are modern and clean, equipment is well kept and good quality and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks Johnny for taking us on some sick dives and shouts to 'T' who was very friendly and created a great atmosphere on board. Will be back!

Ex HMAS Brisbane was awesome!

My parter and I just did a double dive on the Brissy, all the shop staff and crew were awesome getting us checked in sorted and on the boat super smooth and easy. Only a short trip out to the wreck as you brief and gear up. All very well organized and made to feel well looked after during the whole trip. The dive itself was amazing, lots of marine life from reef fish to palagics and a lazy turtle munching away. Special thanks to our guide Johnny and our skipper they did a great job.
