Superb cooking class

An excellent cooking class with Neha who is very kind and helpful. We did 3 different dishes and 3 breads before heading to the spice market for shopping. I’ve learned a lot and can’t wait to try the recipes at home!

What a great evening, learning more about what goes into Indian food, preparation and then cooking it. It was a top experience and really recommend if you want insight on how to cook Indian.

Unique and authentic cooking experience

We signed up for an Indian cooking experience given a recommendation from our local travel agent. We weren’t sure what to expect but pleasantly surprised to be invited to the home of Neha who welcomed us! The backdrop of her terrace flat was beautiful. She took the time to get to know us then fit a menu in our timeline. We cooked traditional butter chicken, aloo masala and 3 types of bread. We each had a role and it felt like we were like family. She demystified the ingredients for our friend who are not Indian and made the hands- on class engaging. We enjoyed the meal together in a traditional thali plate overlooking her garden. Her hospitality and home cooked feeling of the dishes is a treasured memory and one of the highlights of our trip. We didn’t get to experience the spice market due to our schedule unfortunately. Wonderful experience!

The best cooking course ever! Neha is supperattentive and kind and we got a lot of insights on indian cooking and the origins of the plates, plus a fantastic guided visit to a neighborhood market. Simply unforgettable!

I was beyond satisfied with my cooking class experience. Neha is a wonderful teacher and we had some great conversations. She made the process effortless and makes things accessible for cooks at various skill levels. This was a special experience and an unforgettable part of our trip to Delhi. If you are into experiential activities while traveling, this is a must do!

Excellent cultural experience in Delhi.

We had a lovely time learning to cook delicious butter chicken, spiced roast potatoes, roti and parathas. The walk through the market was great. Neha was fantastic, very warm and obviously a great cook. Would highly recommend!

Just the Best!

Such a wonderful experience taking the Spice Knight Market Walk with Indian Food class! The welcome from Neha was really warm and genuine. We had time to talk, get ready and start cooking! She was patient, informative, and so well prepared. The food that I cooked under her tuition was superb! (I would never normally say that about my own cooking!!). We made 3 dishes, plus breads. She explained everything carefully, but allowed me to try things and explained in careful detail what we were doing and why. The market tour was equally excellent. She helped me to buy my own spices to take home, and was really informative. It was genuinely like shopping with a new friend!! I can't recommend this experience highly enough - please try it for yourself, you won't be disappointed!

Immersive cultural and food experience

We signed up for the Spice Knight - which is the combination of the walkthrough of an Indian market (INA Market) and a cooking class at Neha’s home. The walkthrough of the market was super informative and Neha is very knowledgeable about the ingredients, spices and the local culture. The cooking class was really well organized and put together where we focused on both the techniques and the know-how of the dishes for home cooking. The instructions made if very easy to follow along and also understand which spices were being used and why. Highly recommend this cooking class if you are looking to immerse into Indian food and explore the local culture.

Cooking with Neha :)

This was an awesome experience! Neha is a very welcoming host, and she is very knowledgeable when it comes to Indian cuisine and traveling in Delhi! She was extremely kind, and she gave us great recommendations for places to visit, shop, and tour around. I would highly recommend this experience, especially at the beginning of your trip to Delhi - although any time you go will be worth it! She was fun to cook with and she made great conversation! She also helped us find the spices and gifts we were looking for at the local market. You won’t regret choosing to spend an afternooon with Saffron Palate :)

We had a wonderful day. As self-professed foodies, were impressed with the quality of the food! Neha’s easy-going nature was definitely a highlight too! We loved it!

Great vibe!

Neha showed us different spices at the market and answered all our questions about Indian food and culture. She has been hosting people from different countries for over 10 years so she has excellent understanding between different cultures and takes good balance of each one. The vibe of the class is warming, cozy and with small size which let you ask as many question as you want. She and her family has good taste at the place where you get to feel like you are in a small gallery or boutique, in a rather quiet area of New Delhi which is very different compare to the chaos in old Delhi. The food we made was not difficult but very tasty. As the menu changes every 2 weeks I would like to do another class with her next time I visit Delhi!

Hands on home cooking magical experience

Neha was wonderful! We took a walk through a local market before going to her home to make traditional breads and a curry. Very relaxed and knowledgeable experience. Would definitely recommend!

Superb experience

My daughter and I attended the cooking class and market walk. They were both excellent! It was our first day in India and it set us off to the perfect start. The venue was charming, the equipment first rate and Neha’s teaching clear and instructive. We made the best Indian food ever and enjoyed our post class lunch very much. We cannot recommend Saffron Palate too highly. It was awesome.

Fun experience at Saffron Palate

We had a very good experience cooking at Saffron palate! We prepared a lighter homemade version of butter chicken, a vegetarian dish with chickpeas and paneer, potatoes with masala and different types of breads (dough already pre-prepared by Saffron Palate) and afterwards had a nice lunch.

Ready to try at home

Off season; just my wife and I for a private class. Suited us perfectly. Peeled back the layer of mystique around Indian food and took out the fear factor of trying at home. All questions answered. PS: cold kingfisher was a nice surprise with our meal.

Overpriced

I thought the concept will be different, that we will buy fresh ingredients in the market and then will cook. But it was cooking and then a short walk around the market. I would expect more cleaness and fresher ingridients (some of them were wizen). So honestly I think it was a bit overpriced experience.

Excellent Local Cooking Class and Spice Market Tour

I take local cooking classes whenever I travel and my experience with Neha was excellent. She made preparing each dish simple. Her directions were very thorough and given it was a small group we all got personalized attention. I finished the class feeling confident I could replicate the meals at home. We concluded the experience with a walk through a local market where we were able to buy all the spices we needed. This is a "not to be missed" activity when you are in Delhi.

Excellent Cooking Class

This was my first travel cooking class, and a great introduction! Neha's instruction was thorough, patient, and very helpful. I consider myself a decent amateur Indian cook, but the class significantly improved my technique, and added to my recipe collection. Everything was delicious, and Neha made it all quite easy to learn, including Indian flatbreads which I'd been wanting to try but not bold enough to attempt on my own from a recipe book. Though she had a bit of a schedule conflict, Neha was able to send me to the market with her delightful mother. The whole experience was well worth it!

Indian Cuisine Cooking Class with Neha

My wife and I really enjoyed our cooking class with Neha. She was a very good instructor, who taught us how to prepare some of our favorite Indian dishes (vegan style) and new ones. Neha is also a kind and gracious host, who makes you feel very welcomed in her home and kitchen. I highly recommend taking her cooking class!

Amazing cooking course with so much to learn

We had a great time with Neha. We meet up with her in her own house which was very easy to find and super close to the metro station. The course took around 3 hours and we made three dishes plus bread. We learned a lot regarding Indian food, their cooking style and but also about Indian life . Which being in India for the first time, I had so many questions. Neha is a great host. Unfortunately my husband had an upset stomach from the night’s dinner before, so she offered comfort for him and spoiled him with ginger tea. Therefore, I had Neha all to myself. Due to my husband being unwell, she then offered to meet up the next day to the market so my husband would feel better. Which was very kind of her. The market was great and we bought so many spices and more food which we would have never before such as cakes. Now we are cooking together curry and think of her and out great time in India.

Cook, learn, eat, enjoy!

Neha is an excellent instructor, both for the cooking and providing general information about Indian food. We had a great time and learned a lot. :)

Cooking class

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening with Neha. We met at the markets where she guided us around the spice and veg stalls then went to her lovely studio to cook. The recipes were so quick, simple and absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to try them when I get home. Thank you Neha for a wonderful evening. Lx

Awesome experience

Neha is such a great host and the cooking class experience was fantastic. She explained all of the ingredients and make the class so much fun! The market walk afterwards was so cool too! Highly recommend.

Ideal, hands-on experience

Even having cooked lots of Indian food previously, we both learned a lot about ingredients we are not accustomed to in the UK. Learning to make breads that we hadn't tried previously was great! Our meal at the end of the cooking session was augmented with additional dishes that Neha had pre-prepared which made our meal even more special. Relaxed, informative and an overall totally delightful few hours.

This was the best food we ate in Delhi and the best part is we learned to cook it! Neha is lovely, patient and a great instructor. This is set in her home in a lovely cool kitchen with a great view to the garden terrace. Highly recommend for anyone who loves Indian food and wants to impress their friends and family back home...it comes with a cookbook and you can buy the spices! Well worth it!

Saffron Palate

My boyfriend and I booked to do the cookery session with Neha on our first trip to Delhi. Neha was brilliant at communicating beforehand and made finding Saffron Palate very easy. She was very friendly and helpful throughout. The cooking class was amazing and we got all of the recipes for what we had made. We had not booked for a market visit, however we explained that we were keen to see a local market and Neha kindly took us. She also gave us recommendations for where to go that evening, which also were fantastic. I would recommend Saffron Palate to anyone visiting Delhi.

Neha Gupta is not only a talented cook and teacher, but she is a warm and generous host and conversationalist. I especially enjoyed learning about the layering of spices. The highlight of our trip

Cooking with Neha was without a doubt one of the best parts of our trip. She welcomed us into her house, taught us about Indian cuisine, guided us as we made some delicious dishes, shared a fantastic meal and talk with us and took us to a very interesting market. Everything was fantastic, from the cleanliness and set up of the kitchen, to the ingredients, recipes, souvenirs, really the whole experience. My husband and I recommend Neha's class to anyone interested in spending a really fun time and making some delicious Indian food.

Awsome cooking experience

This was one of the best things we did in India. Neha was an excellent teacher and provided a great setting for the lesson, which was both professional but also very fun. Only small groups are in a session (max 8), we where introduced to traditional Indian cooking. Our class mates were great value. Highly recommended to do this, not just cooking buffs.

Wonderful way to spend time together, meet new people and learn about Indian cuisine

Along with friends we took the cooking class with market tour. It was a great way to learn more about Indian cooking and have a fun afternoon. The cooking stations were all well prepared in advance so we cook focus on learning more about spices and how they are used and practice technique. Neha was great at managing the class and everyone enjoyed the pacing and opportunity to eat their own cooking. The visit to the market was also interesting and Neha graciously helped us to buy spices from one of the vendors. I recommend the class for people interested in learning a bit more on first hand basis about lifestyles and Indian home-cooking. No cooking skills are required other than following straight forward directions.

One of favorite experiences in Delhi!

Spending the afternoon learning to cook Indian food and then going to the market with Neha was by far one of our favorite things we did in Delhi. The food we made was delicious and authentic (our Indian friend tried it later and was impressed!) and Neha provides the recipes so that you can make it at home for family and friends. Neha was a wonderful teacher and hostess, we were especially grateful to Neha because she accommodated our friend who has celiacs disease, and she even made chickpea rotis for her, which meant a lot. I would also highly recommend doing the spice market experience, we learned so much and it gave us the opportunity to purchase spices to take home. Would highly highly recommmend booking this experience, you won’t regret it.

Relaxing, fun and delicious

Neha's home is an oasis of calm amidst the chaos of New Delhi. She gently guides you through preparing some favourite Indian dishes. You can re-create these at home because she also provides you with a lovely souvenir cookbook (with a few bonus recipes). It was a highlight of our trip, for sure. After we'd eaten all we could of the dishes we'd prepared, Neha took us to the market where she buys her spices, and we were able to stock up on some special blends. Overall, an outstanding experience.

Great experience

So enjoyed our cooking class. It was relaxing and informational. Neha made us feel so comfortable and right at home. The best part was eating the food we had prepared. The next best thing was the visit to the market. We couldn't resist buying some spices!

Amazing experience!

My mother and I took this class, and Neha was an amazing host and instructor. She accommodated us even though I had made a mistake with the reservation. We cooked four dishes and three breads, and then took a market tour where I was able to buy the spices we had used. The food was delicious - I couldn't believe it was not restaurant food! We had such a fun time discussing Indian culture, customs, and religion over our meal, and I learned a lot from our conversation. Neha is friendly, intelligent, professional, and a great cook! This was a highlight of our trip!

An unforgettable way to spend a day in Delhi!

I had 24 hours to kill in Delhi and felt like doing something authentic and fun. I found the link to Saffron Palate out of the blue and could not have been luckier! I signed up for a market tour and a cooking class with Neha and had the best day I could have ever imagined. Neha welcomed me in to her family home, had prepared all the ingredients to cook four delicious dishes and three wonderful breads. We then sat down and shared the meal while talking about all the amazing things Delhi has to offer. The trip to the spice market was just as eye-opening and inspiring. Thank you Neha for allowing me to experience Delhi on such an authentic and personal level.
