Private Customized Delhi Shopping Tour with Female Consultant

Ideal for solo, adventurous female travelers!

I booked this tour as a solo female traveler from the U.S. It was my first time in India and in the continent of Asia. I'm actually not a big shopper and didn't have anything specific in mind. Really what I wanted was the experience - and the comfort of having a female guide to feel safe, be able to communicate, and avoid scammers, pickpockets, etc. Our tour includes lots of textiles (with 100% natural fabrics at reasonable prices - hard to come by these days!), rugs, jewelry, and street food tastings. (I am not an especially adventurous eater so I'm proud of myself for trying new things with Shehla's encouragement!) There was a specific tea I was looking for that my brother asked me to find, and Shehla brought me right to it. I tried on a saree, and I totally would have purchased one - if only I had an Indian wedding or special event to wear it to! LOL. (Related note- Shehla told me there is actually a website where you can sign up to be a guest at an Indian wedding - wow - what a fantastic business idea! LOL!) *Note that as a foreigner, everywhere I went I was *heavily* pressured/hounded to buy stuff. Shehla helped me in telling people who were a little too aggressive to back off... I appreciated Shehla's confidence in haggling and communicating directly with the sellers. She clearly knew exactly what she was doing. There is no way I could have navigated Chandni Chowk without her, and I never would have been brave enough to go on a tuk tuk if not with her! Shout out to my driver as well - seamless and comfortable navigation plus added history lessons! And the best part: Shehla took TONS of fantastic pictures of me so I have the whole thing documented! For those who travel alone - you know how priceless this is! 😊 Thank you Shehla!

In March 2024 I had the pleasure of booking this private shopping experience in Delhi with Miss Shehla! I was picked up from my hotel in a private car, with Shehla & also a private driver. Our first stop was at a business with multiple stories to their building with all kinds of textiles, art, goods & wares. It was here I bought the bulk of my treasures. From there we took a rickshaw into the Chandni Chowk district & it was a delight of the senses!! Shehla introduced me to a variety of delicious & safe street foods! Kachori, kulfi ice cream, jalebis, & samosas!! It was so much fun to shop with my friend, visit with & learn from each other & try & experience so many new things! This private shopping day with Shehla was one of the great highlights of my two weeks in India. I will cherish this day & my experience with her forever! Felt like shopping with a friend !!

I was on a trip to India and needed to do some wedding shopping but was kind of lost. I booked the shopping trip with Shehla and could'nt be happier with my decision. I texted and talked to her prior to the trip and gave her an idea of what my shopping needs were and sent her some pictures of things i wanted to buy. Shehla and Sahil picked me up promptly from the hotel at 10.00 AM . They were both very friendly and professional and we had great conversation on the way. We went to Chandni Chowk and she took me to shops I did not even notice but had the best collection. I bought several outfits for myself and my daughters. We visited several other stores and bought a bunch of trinkets / costume jewellary and other miscellaneous items. Shehla is very familiar with the area and knew exactly where to take me . I had an evening flight and was rushed but was amazed at the amount of shopping I did in a short period of time. I would highly recommend her if are not familiar with Delhi and want an authentic shopping experience .

Tailored perfectly to fit our wants & needs

Right from the start following my booking, Shehla was great about communicating in advance to learn more about what we wanted to see in our tour. My husband and I were in India to attend a wedding the following week and needed outfitting. Shehla knew exactly where to take us and gave us pointers. She had a great eye and caught onto what my personal style was very quickly. My husband was even able to get several custom tailored suits made and matching shoes! We loved the tour through Chandi Chowk as well along with the rickshaw rides. I was able to pick up jewelry (real and costume), a purse, and spices in the market. She also made sure we tried some fun street food and saw some other sights in Delhi like an old step well and a Sikh temple. Our driver (sorry I have forgotten his name) was wonderful as well and a huge wealth of historical information. If you’re thinking about this tour- just book it now, you won’t regret it!

Perfect intro to Delhi culture

The shopping tour of Delhi was such a great “recovery day” activity! My colleague and I went to stay busy and get over our jet lag with the half-day option. This allowed us to sleep in and have breakfast before exploring Delhi. Shehla was in touch almost immediately after I booked to understand what I was looking for, and she tailored the experience to that. We went to two clothing stores. My colleague ordered a customized dress, which was made and delivered to our hotel by 10am same day. I really loved our time in Chandini Chawk, and thanks to Shehla, I can actually say it correctly now. There is no way we would have been able to navigate this area without a guide. Even on a Wednesday afternoon, it was hectic and crowded. Shehla guided us down alleyways to lovely jewelry shops that make their own designs. You know quality when you see it, and I was able to nicely expand my collection with both plain silver items, as well as some sapphires. Both these shops and the clothing stores took credit cards, which was very helpful for larger purchases. There were a lot of low cost items available in the market. $2-3 skirts, wedding items, beautiful stationary, spices, a little of everything. RK was a great driver. He managed the Delhi traffic, keeping us safe. I never was concerned with safety, which is really saying something for traveling on the roads of Delhi! Both RK and Shehla scattered in history and cultural knowledge, but also gave us down time, which was nice with all the hustle bustle of Delhi. This would be a great tour for individual or groups of women. Seriously, it would not be safe to go to the market alone. We felt very confident with Shehla at all times. Thanks for a great experience. I will definitely book again if I find myself with time in Delhi, so I can explore even more of Old Delhi!

A wonderful productive and instructive day ofshopping mixes with culture and sights.

I had a free day in Delhi and want to get to a couple markets. Rather than hire a car from the hotel I found Sheilah on TripAdvisor. It was 11 at night and she got back to me straight away. If you don’t know the city inside and out, it would be impossible to see all that we did in 8-9 hours. Sheilah chose several stores, emporiums and markets to meet my interests and made sure I learned about the places and tried the special street food along the way. She is delightful, easy company and is tuned into her customers needs. As an added bonus her driver Tarik is a history guide and he added lots of interesting information about sights we were passing and relevant background about India. This day exceed my expectations!

The best time in Delhi!

Wow! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Rahis. Especially thankful that he was willing to pick us up and drop us off at our hotel for a small fee. This made our days in Delhi more relaxing and enjoyable knowing we didn’t have to worry about transportation. He is willing to customize our day to make it perfect and relaxed. Went all over the Delhi markets and even got to go on a tuk tuk ride! Rahis was very helpful when shopping and making sure we felt that we got the best price. Also spent a day going to the Lodi Gardens, temple and local shops/restaurants. Excited to keep in touch with him and his family until next trip!

We needed to kill 10 hrs in Delhi. Took this tour and they took us shopping. Rode the rickshaw throughout old Delhi, stopped at one spice store, I wished we could have visited several stands. If you are into shopping, this is your tour.

Shopping help for a wedding

Great experience shopping with Shehla! I came to Delhi for a wedding, my first time in India, and knew I’d need help getting the various outfits and accessories for the wedding. She took me to excellent places that provided tailoring, and everything was in my hand by the next day. The women at the wedding gave me SO many compliments and asked me where I went shopping! Shehla and her driver were super kind and helpful — it’s exactly what I was hoping for. Highly recommend.

Good tailor made tour

I spent a lovely day with Shelah. She asked me beforehand what I wanted to see/ do, and we managed to fit everything in the tour. Shèlah even managed to squeeze in for me to have a henna tattoo which is one thing I really wanted to do!

Excellent day of shopping and history

This tour was a wonderful mix of shopping and history! Shehla and her colleague were very friendly and professional. I did this tour alone and felt extremely comfortable at all times. The car was very clean and modern. I didn’t intend to buy anything in particular, but really just wanted to see another aspect of Delhi. However Shehla asked for some thoughts before the trip of what might interest me and went to great lengths to show me out of the way antique shops and other relevant shops. I ended up finding a lovely antique souvenir, buying gifts and even having some clothes made! Included in the experience was the opportunity to taste some delicious street food. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough and will most definitely book another trip when I visit again next year!

Memorable Delhi Market Tours

I am so grateful to have had the chance to visit Delhi for business, and visiting the local markets was the perfect way to experience the local scene and make memories. There was so much to see and take in, so many beautiful pieces of art to admire along the way. Shelah is so knowledgeable about where to find any item you might be looking for, whether spices, pashmina scarves, purses, shoes, fabric, bangles, and even bookmarks. I felt safe and never had to worry about getting lost, finding bathrooms, or understanding the best way to access a market or shop, as our guides took care of all the details. Shelah also answered any questions I had about navigating the shopping scene and also about local culture. I spent a second day with her traveling to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and Red Fort, which was another incredibly memorable day. It was really wonderful to let someone else lead the way and handle to logistics so I could sit back and enjoy. I learned so much and would love to go again some day. Schedule a trip with Shelah; you’ll love it and be so glad you did.

Delightful Taj and Local Markets!

This is absolutely a trip of a lifetime with the perfect guides. Shelah is the perfect balance of support and allowing you to go where you want to go and see what you want to see. I saw janpath, chandni Chowk, Agra, Taj Mahal, and Red Fort. I was completely enamored the entire time. Driver was just as wonderful in a clean and comfortable car for up to a party of 4-5. I was able to find exactly what I was looking for because Shelah knows ALL the details and knows how to get you what you are hunting. The pictures were amazing and pure joy! Fun Day of Shopping with Female Guide

I spent the day shopping with Shelha because I specifically wanted a female shopping guide. I enjoyed the day. Chandni Chowk Market being the highlight for me. I loved it and wish we had spent more time there. I purchased the red necklace in the photo plus more and love every piece. The entire day went way too fast. Be sure to be specific in what you do and don't want to visit. I feel we waisted a bit too much time shopping for things I had no interest in, I kept getting steered towards rugs and missed out on a store that I had requested ahead of time to visit. Her driver is top notch and knows his history of the area and felt extremely safe. His car is in excellent condition and has second row air conditioning. Would I do it again? Yes.

She picked me up from the hotel at the agreed-upon time and took me to various shops so I could explore and buy the best of what India has to offer. She was incredibly patient, waiting for me to make my choices and decisions about purchases. She also has impeccable taste: everything she found and showed me, I wanted to buy! Made the most of my last day!

Was booked during the G20 when there were so many closed roads and restrictions. But Rahis was very understanding and waited patiently. Once together, he helped me find these stores for the things I was looking for. Had good food and was brought safely to the airport in time for my flight.

New locals getting the lowdown on shopping

Amazing and fun ! Shehla was a fantastic guide around the city. We just moved to Delhi and thought that having a guide to show us some of the markets would be the best way to find the things we enjoy. She even took us to a tailor and I was able to get 5 linen shirts made at much better prices than in the US and they were fitted to me! Spice shops were a lot of fun and sampling some of the street food was fantastic as well as delicious! Highly recommend the tour if you want specific things while you are here!

Awesome tour of Old Delhi Markets and Street Food

Highly recommend Shehla and this tour if you want to experience the Old Delhi markets and the delicious street food. My adult daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We took tuktuks into the markets. We tried on saris, shoes, jewelry. We tasted spices. We bought souvenirs, Indian jewelry, a bed spread, shoes, a purse, spices and souvenirs. We tasted samosas, jalebi, chola kulcha, dal kachori, rabri faludi and our favorite gol gabbe. It was all marvelous. Shehla promised us we wouldn’t get sick and we didn’t. Shehla and her knowledgeable driver picked us up at our hotel and were very accommodating. It was an interesting, informative highly recommended experience.

The BEST days shopping with Farheen!

I had so much fun shopping with Farheen, that I hired her again, at the end of my trip, for another day! As a woman traveling alone, I felt safe with Farheen. Not only did she take me to a few places I wanted to go, she introduced me to many others. She negotiated prices for me and definitely made a difference in the bottom line. She also (quickly) learned what I liked and what I didn't like, and help me select fabrics and clothing specific to my style. I cannot say enough good things about both days I spent with her, and I look forward to another visit! I highly recommend this Viator experience. Hire her! You will not be sorry.

Awesome shopping day in Delhi!

Awesome day exploring the markets with Shehla! You get an authentic experience and she knows all the best shopping spots. I had my daughters with me and they had a blast. She also took us to some of the best street food spots to sample some incredible foods. We look forward to another excursion together the next time we are in Delhi!

Shopping tour

My daughter and I booked this tour for our last day in India prior to leaving to return home. It certainly gave us a different experience than the tour of Delhi monuments and neighborhoods that we took the day after our arrival in Delhi. Shehla brought us to a few different market spots where we shopped for spices, sweets/nuts and clothing in addition to stores that were more modern in set up and were of higher quality. All in all it was a very good experience and she was able to tailor it to our particular preferences. The street food tastings added a fun touch to the experience!

A must do in Delhi!

This was an incredible experience I would recommend to anybody! Shehla was so accommodating when our flight situation caused some major delays in our plan and we had to cut our day short. Despite the delayed start (our incoming flight was delayed) Shehla rushed us to as many points as possible to try and make the most of what was left of our day. Dehli is so bustling and wild, and can definitely be a bit overwhelming, so having a guide like Shehla and our driver was a true blessing! If its your first time in Delhi, this is absolutely worth your time and money.

The best shopping in Dehli

I always find shopping in India stressful because I never really know where to go. Shehla came to my rescue. She reached out to me after I booked the tour to ask what I was interested in and she tailored the tour perfectly to meet my needs. She was punctual, warm and friendly. She made me feel at ease straight away. After our first stop, she figured out my style very quickly and knew exactly where to take me. We shopped, we ate and had so much fun. Nice people for basic shop traveling

I was alone and wanted to shop for gifts on my last day. They are nice people but they will take you to very specific shops they know, the ones in the market are those recommended on all social media. If you want something that can't be found in those specific shops they are a little lost. Don’t expect them to help you get a better price, and if you don't want to see the art of making carpets, you will need to insist, at the end they agreed to skip it.
