This food walk was an amazing experience and Parul is a great guide who made us feel very welcome and safe. Great for anyone interested in street food and you won't be disappointed when Parul takes you through quirky streets and hidden gems off the beaten track. Can't wait to come again!

Great tour and delicious food

My husband and I spent a delightful morning exploring old Delhi and its delicious food with our guide Stanley. Stanley is knowledgeable and friendly and shared lots of insights about the history of Old Delhi, Indian history and culture.

The culinary legends of the old world .

I went to Urdu Bazar Old Delhi. The place is best reachable by Delhi Metro Violet line. I found it convenient to board the Metro from Mandi house station. My destination Jama Majid station is hardly 15 minutes away from there. I came out from the Jama Masjid station from Gate No 1 and took a Rickshaw for Bazar Chitli Qabar ,Gali Haveli Azam Khan. The Rickshaw took me all along the narrow road of Urdu Bazar lined on both sides with famous restaurants,like Kareem, Al Jawahar , Rahmatullah, Qureshi Kabab , Aslam chicken and Yaseen. You could smell the aroma of mouth watering dishes all along the road. Our destination was Shabrati restaurant in Chitli Bazar which is located at the fag end of the road and into a narrow lane. Shabrati is a typical old town restaurant with makeshift sitting arrangement for less then 10 persons at a time. The only preparation it has is Nihari of mutton and beef and bheja occasionally, it serves it with Khameri roti. We ordered mutton Nihari and Khameri Roti .The food was kept at a few feet from us and was served immediately.I took the first bite and lo and behold, I was transformed to a different world . I have never eaten such a delicious Nihari and Roti. The gravy had little spice and mutton was simmered for hours on charcoal fire. The heavenly concoction had no or very little oil.The serving was sumptuous,refills were welcomed, my refill was done by carrying my plate to the Pot and bringing it back all topped and hot. It was worth the trouble many times over to reach this place and have food.l

A delicious, eclectic experience I’ll never forget

An amazing experience through Delhi, I am so impressed by the variety of foods and the knowledge that was shared. It’s clear that Raghu has done a lot of research on the best spots and how tourists can safely enjoy the tastiest treads Delhi has to offer. I’m so happy I decided to take this tour.

This tour was the best experience we had in Delhi. Stanley was a fantastic, personable and knowledgeable guide who made sure we were safe and experienced the best of Old Delhi’s food and bustling market life. It was an experience like we’ve never had before and we cannot recommend it enough for anyone wanting to see Delhi like a local!

Wonderful food, and Stanley was an excellent guide. We tried a really diverse range of delicious street food, and Stanley answered all of our questions about food and Old Delhi. Highly recommended (and come hungry!)

The highlight of out trip to Delhi

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough - out tour guide (Stanley) was amazing - not only did he take us for some excellent street food but also gave us a fascinating insight into what its like to live in Delhi and lot of very interesting information around the areas we visited. The food and tour itself was excellent but our tour guide enthusiasm and friendliness took it to a completely different level. Unlike other tours we took there was no pressure to visit specific shops and purchase anything, it was all about the food and general location information - and that was most appreciated. Bonus - no Delhi Belly after!

Stanley has chosen the most delicious and hygienic street food locations for this tour. Very friendly and knowledgeable. He even encouraged us to try more after every dish. If you're concerned about the non-veg tour, rest assured you have nothing to worry about.

Highly recommend!

Had a great Sunday afternoon tour with Stanley! If you're looking to have an authentic Indian food experience, this is worth it. The tour was equal parts historical, cultural and culinary info. You're encouraged to ask questions, so get curious. Stanley is a pro and highly recommend a tour with him. Food was delicious and no GI issues at all. It was nice to not not feel like a tourist on the tour. It's more like a friend showing you around their city.

Exceptional experience!

This is a very belated review for an exceptional experience! I researched various food tours for months before deciding upon Old Delhi Food and Heritage Walk, and it exceeded all expectations. Our family of four visited Delhi at the end of July on the beginning of a month long trip, and we all agree that it was one of the highlights of our entire month in India. The food was delicious, and Raghu was such a fun, relaxed, and knowledgeable guide. He also graciously let us reschedule when I messed up the date. From beginning to end, it was a fantastic experience. I just wish that we had had time at the end of our trip to do another tour with Raghu.

Brilliant Food Tour

Stanley ran an excellent tour for us through old Delhi. The variety and quality of the food was amazing, definitely a must if you're a foodie and visiting Delhi. It's honestly the best way to explore these streets and markets as when you're on the tour no one bothers you at all, you can really feel immersed in it all which I loved. I also did this by myself in a small group, so also great for solo travellers. I've not got long in Delhi so this was a great way to see the real city in an afternoon.

Awesome tour

The tour with Stanley was a big success. I have tried a lot of local street food which I had never dared to try without Stanley. Lots of different flavors and surprises. Also old Delhi is worth a visit and in a tuk-tuk it is much fun. This is a big recommendation for this tour. No regrets and no stomach problems! Awesome tour!!!!

So much fun walking and riding tuk tuks through Old Delhi. Our tour guide, Stanley was knowledgeable and friendly. And he took us to so many delicious snack places. Our Indian friends were so worried that we’d be sick eating street food on our second day in India. But we had zero problems. Stanley knew so many famous places and sites that our Delhi-born friends were amazed that we hit all the best spots and saw so much. Two big thumbs up for Stanley!

Parul was a fantastic guide on the Old Delhi Food and Heritage walk (vegetarian). She showed me some great places as a solo traveller, and we had ag reat conversation through out. The food was delicious as well!

A proper feast

The tour was amazing and Stanley was friendly, knowledgeable and a brilliant guide. The food was incredible and we tried things that we definitely wouldn’t have stumbled upon ourselves. We thought we’d done a good job of pacing ourselves but were so full by the end; do not plan to eat any other meals before or after!

Wonderful .... give it ago.

What a wonderful tour ....., to be cautious we chose the vegetarian tour as this is safest. I have to say I didn't miss the lack of meet at all! The food was tasty and as authentic as you can get. Many of the street stalls/cafes had been handed down for several generations, people were queuing. Our guide was Parule...... abd I can't recommend her highly enough. Her knowledge was very good and any questions we had about the good food and spices used, she would ask the cooks, alll the way around describing the history and heritage of foods and Delhi it self. Our tummies were good afterwards. Well worth going on ....... a great flour of Delhi.

Happily immersed in Delhi

This was exactly what we hoped for - we were immersed in Delhi but felt completely safe as we did it. The food was excellent and varied. Parul was the ideal guide - knowledgable, patient and fun. Would definitely recommend.

Authentic experience

Wow! Wow! Wow! We (2 couples) had an absolutely fantastic afternoon/evening with Parul. She was such an enthusiastic and happy tour guide. Very knowledgable . We did the vegetarian food walk (and this was just to be safe) and there wasn’t a single food that we didn’t like. Each owner of the venue was very welcoming. We felt very safe with our guide and at times it was busy and felt intense but very comfortable. Couldn’t recommend enough. Well worth it . Fantastic, authentic Indian experience. Thank you so much

This is a must if you are in Delhi!

What an amazing experience! This was the highlight of our trip and Raghu was the best local guide. He was very knowledgable and cared a lot to make sure we were happy and well fed during our tour which lasted 5/6 hours. As with any street food you can never guarantee anything but the food was all delicious and we tried dishes we would not have tried without our trusted guide. I would definitely recommend this if you want to learn about the local culture and taste some of the best most authentic Indian food! Thanks Raghu!

Excellent tour with a brilliant guide

Absolutely brilliant tour. Raghu was probably our favourite tour guide/person in India. Super friendly and super tour. The butter chicken at the last place was my favourite meal in India , so highly recommend that. Also had a good diversity of other food to try with unlimited water/drinks. Both my girlfriend and I had just arrived and were worried about getting ill, but no issues at all. We toured the golden triangle and this tour was probably the highlight, mainly because of the tour guide who was brilliant. P.s he also has good tips for Jaipur- so ask him to give tips for Jaipur . Highly recommend and make sure you ask for Raghu as a tour guide.

Deliciously unique

A wonderful, colorful and tasty experience! Raghu lead us expertly through Old Delhi, he was punctual, polite and extremely knowledgeable, from the Mango stuffed kulfi which was stuffed with Kesar pista (saffron And pistachio ) ice cream [so unique], to the delicious Chai, under the shadow of the Masjid-i-Jehan-Numa Mosque, he kept it lively and interesting. I recommend this culinary experience without hesitation

If you want to experience Old Delhi - do this tour!!

Wow! What an exciting time we had. If you want a tour that lets you experience the chaos that is Old Delhi, do this tour. The food was great - we ate too much, the transport provided was an experience in itself and the memories will last a lifetime. Thanks Raghu.

Skip the food tasting, high possibilty of diarrhea.

Old Delhi is a terribly and totally fascinating place to visit, a must see. However I advise Westerners to skip the food tasting in this are. Food is not prepared in sanitary conditions and food poisoning is very possible, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. I'm not sure that our guide "Parun" takes, or took this into consideration when sampling from various vendors. Both me and my partner were sick for weeks after this tour. Buyer beware. My advise is don't eat the food just take in the amazing sights and culture.

What an epic afternoon. Raghu was a wonderful guide, taking us on an amazing tour of the sights, sounds, scents and tastes of Delhi. So much food. All of it spectacular, in places that a tourist would never find. A chaotic and delightful sea of flavours, people and tuk tuks. What a great way to spend an afternoon in Delhi. Can't recommend this enough and would do it again in a heart beat.

Safe for Westerners

If you want to visit places that you normally wouldn't and try dishes you normally wouldn't, this is the tour for you. Thankfully this tour was friendly to western's stomachs. Raghu was an awesome tour guide. You could tell he loved what he did and he was awesome at it. A highlight of our time in Delhi.

Parul was an excellent guide - the best tour guide I’ve had. I had the pleasure of having a solo trip, and she showed me so many great places and lots of delicious vegetarian food. Parul also engaged in lots of interesting conversation about Delhi and India. She even booked a cab for me as my phone was not working. I really can’t recommend it enough. (Also if anyone is worried no I did not get ill at all during my stay)

Amazing food and great company! A must do in Delhi!

The vegetarian Old Delhi Food and Heritage Walk was awesome!! My partner and I spent the afternoon with Parul, who not only took us to some amazing spots, but answered all our questions and taught us quite a bit about Delhi and India. As many reviews say, COME HUNGRY and expect to be in good hands during your tour. This is definitely a great opportunity to try some places you wouldn’t normally end up at on your own.

One of the best things we did in India. Our guide Parul was fantastic. We tried many amazing foods that i had never seen before and we didnt not get sick! This is a great way to see and experience the real india - the mad hustle bustle and truly remarkable food!!! THankyou

A must for a foodies

Fantastic tour and guide! We got to try lots of different Indian foods that we would never have found on our own. Loads of food and water/soft drinks for the duration of the tour along with some history/culture of the area too. A must whilst in Delhi if you are a foodie

Excellent food tour experience- highly recommend!

Fantastic food tour experience! Stanley was our guide and my husband and I loved it - it was only the 2 of us so we had the bonus of a personal experience. Stanley took us to places that there is no way we would have found on our own - into the deepest alleys of Old Delhi to try the most delicious food. Not only was it a food tour but a history tour and a full experience for all of the senses. We caught the metro, rode a tuk-tuk, explored the spice markets, walked through wedding dress alley - and that’s not even mentioning the food - which was all fantastic. Loved it all - highly recommend.

Great tour and food, well worth it

We were a group of 5 and had Stanley as our tour guide. He tooks through the streets and alleys of Old Delhi and we ate a series of amazing and interesting snacks and treats. It was great having Stanley to take us around and show us the hidden gems amidst rhe chaos. Highly recommended!

Do this on your first day in Delhi

This was honestly the best tour I’ve ever been on. Ragu was funny, super knowledgeable and genuinely seemed to love his job. Can’t recommend highly enough. He also fixed us up with a guide the following day to do the more obscure things we wanted to do.

Excellent Food Walk - come hungry!

Stanley took me on a lovely culinary tour of Old Delhi, sampling everything from barfi to massala chai to sumptuous butter chicken. I loved the mix of food and history - a must do if you're in Delhi!

A must do tour!

We cannot recommend this food and walking tour enough, for so many reasons! Raghu is so knowledgable and friendly. Meeting in a central location and then taking us around some beautiful parts of Delhi, allowing us to experience the amazing culture this bustling and happily chaotic city has to offer, but with a calming presence close by in the form of Raghu. The food is absolutely incredible. Definitely come hungry as it’s a long tour where you can eat as much as you’d like. Drinks and food are included throughout as are travel costs to get around Delhi, so you can completely relax and immerse yourself in the experience. My partner and I did this on our first day, it’s a brilliant way to experience the city and the food but with the safety net of a guiding hand to navigate through the many do’s and don’ts of Delhi. Really recommend doing this as an ice breaker to help acclimatise to a busy but beautiful city with lots to offer. It was also some of the best food we’ve ever had! Tom and Becky - London, England.
