Local Market Tour & Five Course Meal Class

A wonderful food experience!

A group of 9 of us enjoyed a wonderful day with Anchal and her colleagues. A problem with the electricity in the street proved no obstacle to her as we still learned loads about the creation of spiced dishes. While we came away with a number of recipes the most valuable thing for me was learning how to ‘build’ a dish and understanding which spices to use and the timing of their introduction . That way we had a foundation to adapt our own dishes.

Incredible experience!

Doing a cooking class in Dehli was hands down our best experience in India. We learned so much about the spices, traditional cooking methods, and daily eating in India. We would highly recommend this to anyone who loves food and wants a truly unique travel experience. Thank you so much!

Fun, informative and delicious!

Prenja (I'm sure my spelling is wrong) made it easy to prepare 5 Indian dishes, each really delicious. I did the cooking, she guided me throughout. The classroom was cheerful, clean and well equipped. Her teaching was the standout. Our market tour was great fun - you may want to linger. I was the only student who signed up that day. Class could have been cancelled, but no, I had a private lesson! I received the recipes we made and more within a week of the class, as promised. I took a tuk-tuk there, but the driver got me near, not there. I asked directions several times...arrive early. Tastesutra is immediately across from the metro line

Superb experience for us girls

Our chef was fantastic, very easy to speak with, extremely knowledgeable, the class went at a nice steady pace and I felt like I was learning the whole time - I took two pages’ of notes which I needn’t have because they have emailed me the recipes any who. It really was a fun, vibrant and educational morning out with a trip to the market afterwards to buy spices, now we understood what they were for! Indian cuisine is superb and don’t miss an opportunity to learn more about how they have so much delicious variety in their diet. Tastesutra was a highlight of New Delhi trip - snuck out of my conference for a few hours to do it. Worth it!

Cooking and market visit

We had a wonderful day at Tastesutra. We started with an introduction and education on spices and cooking with lots of tips on home cooking. We then prepared and ate a delicious meal and were given insights into how local families eat and prepare food day to day. Finally we toured the local market. As this is not a tourist market it allowed us to see local life including understanding the street food on offer and buying our own spices. A really interesting fun and well thought out day.

Great class and market tour

The helpful instructors demystified Indian cooking. The dishes were tasty, the tour informative, and the company superb. Recipes and photos were provided after the experience.

A wonderful course with gratifyingly delicious results!

My best friend and I decided we’d like to do this course on our last day in Delhi before flying and it was the perfect end to a fabulous journey. The premises is cool, bright and brilliantly functional and we were lucky enough to have a private tutorial with Tushan. He was a superb teacher; clear, flexible, and a great communicator. We created 3 classic dishes with sides, chutney and fresh chapati and gobbled the results too quickly to take pics. The course is really fun and the market tour was a perfect ending to stock up on goodies to take home and recreate the lovely meal we prepared. Many thanks also to Anchal who’s baby Tastesutra is and the charming Ram Who cleared up after us and giggled affectionately at our first attempts to fashion chapatis! Highly recommended.

Fantastic Cooking Experience

I did this cooking activity with 3 of my university friends visiting from USA and each one of us had a brilliant time. Everything was very well organised and we really enjoyed the complete hands on cooking experience. Will highly recommend

Phenomenal woman owned business -- exceptional experience

Anchal was incredible. A kind, strong businesswoman who is doing everything right. She cares about the environment and uses sustainable, reusable or compostable items. She teaches you how to cook things healthier than restaurant style -- like they do it at home. I can't recommend this experience enough. Beautiful venue, great location (near an amazing market and the metro train), great employees. But Anchal is the star. Don't overthink it, just book.

Excellent cultural experience

My wife and her friend joined a cooking class on short notice (about an hour before it started). Easy Metro ride to the location (on both Purple and Pink Lines. We first made chai using some "sweet" spices--ginger, green cardamon pods, cloves, cinnamon, then created 3 dishes for lunch--butter paneer, curried chicken/veggies, "bachelor" potatoes and rotis. Every person in the class participated in making one of the dishes and everyone's feedback was sought when adjusting the spices during the cooking process. Anchal was very open about sharing her experiences with individualizing every day dishes by varying the amouts of different spice combinations. The local market walk after the meal was also enjoyable because we had some experience with using the spices that were for sale. A terrific way to spend a day in Delhi.

Great cooking class

Amazing experience! Everybody was super nice. It was my friends birthday and a little cake and saris for us to wear were prepared in her honor. The class was lovely and so much fun! We will be using a lot of the recipes back home in Germany ;) One of our highlights whilst traveling India!

A fantastic cooking experience

Absolutely fantastic experience - cannot recommend it highly enough - a must do for when you are in Delhi - friends recommended it to us snd we are very pleased they did.

Dive into Indian culture

We had the best time doing a cooking class with Anchal. She’s very knowledgeable about spices, their health benefits and gives brilliant tips for future excursions into Indian cooking. The food was delicious - if I may say so myself ;) the second I came back home I tried several of the recipes we made. The trip to the market rounded our day off as we were able to get all the spices we needed to recreate the dishes. It also gave a great insight into a local market and day to day life. Great, educational fun that I can highly recommend!

Best cooking studio

I had a cooking class with Tastesutra and it was full of knowledge and fun. Mrs Anchal made sure to use the freshest ingredients from the town. Everything was so clean, organized, and very professional. After the five course meal class I had a local market tour guided by Mrs Anchal herself and it was a wonderful experience. So it is a must to visit Tastesutra if you are travelling to Delhi as this place vibes is totally different from any other cooking studio. And it’s the best cooking studio in Delhi so go for it and come back with beautiful memories!

Private class was disappointing

I have taken quite a few cooking courses on trips and enjoyed them, so it’s really unfortunate the way this one turned out. I was looking forward to eating a nice meal. I had a private course with the Owner, Anchal in the evening which she suggested because her studio was already busy during the day, when I wanted to book. She picked me up at my hotel because it was close-by and on-route for her. I brought her some gifts as a thank you for picking me up, but my experience was not the greatest. Maybe she was tired from the day, but that shouldn’t impact the course I paid for. Before we started the cooking class, she asked up front if I had any allergies. I said I did not have allergies, and I like different spices for flavor, but specified that I didn’t want to use any hot chili because I couldn’t eat it. Since I was the only student we made very small portions of each dish. Cooking one of the dishes, I could see Anchal cutting a green chili. I questioned it and said I would prefer no chili. Her comment back was “it’s only one, it will be fine”. The food was too hot and I could not eat more than a few bites and started coughing, eyes watered and my nose ran. This was really disappointing because the meal we prepared was to be my dinner. My comment on this would be to listen to the paying customer and if they specify no chili peppers in the meal, don’t put them in! There were a couple times when I asked questions, that they didn’t seem welcome, so I decided to not ask much further. One of the questions was “what type of wheat are we using to make the bread?” Anchal snapped back “there’s only one kind of wheat”. After that comment, I didn’t ask anything further, but the truth is, I know there are many kinds of wheat. Some with different textures and some more glutenous than others etc. It can be googled for those who want more information on the many kinds of wheat and their uses! There are a number of cooking courses in Delhi, and on my next trip, I will take one with a different company.

Amazing!

You would be silly not to book onto this cooking class. Anchal and Sonal were so knowledgable about the food and spices, as well as being great teachers. They made the session so much fun that I wished it was longer! The market tour was also great. Anchal and Sonal took us to the correct stalls, so I got to buy a few bits for the kitchen. Just saved me having to wonder around Delhi having to find them. You will not regret booking onto this class.

Amazing cooking class

This is hands down the best thing to do in Delhi. We learnt so much about indian food and how indian food can be made easy quick and healthy! The market tour was also lovely seeing where the locals really go instead of being hassled in the tourist traps. You wont regret it!

Amazing food and amazing host!!

We got an amazing experience with Anchal. First of all she was really kind and patient to explain all the spices they use like 2 or 3 times since they´re new names for us. Then we got into the recipes for the starter plate which we loved! Even though it was deep fried, we found it different and quite tasty. From this we got to the tea and main dishes After eating, we went to the market and Anchal showed us a lot of things and we got the opportunity to buy the spices, utensils and additional things we were looking for. My recommendation is to have this tour 100%! But first do the cooking and then the market

Highlight of our Trip to India!!!

This was the highest point of our trip to India. We absolutely loved the cooking class and market stroll. The food was easy to cook and they truly have a passion indian cuisine and their business. We were fortunate to have the class all to ourselves and would recommend to anyone who is interested in learning how to cook Indian food back home. You get all the recipes and amazing hospitality. Everything was sanitized and we had no issues the entire afternoon!

Fun, interactive experience - great food and new insights into Indian cooking

I did this experience at the end of a trip around north India. It was a really fun, interactive way to end my holiday - which gave me new insights into how many of the tasty things I had been sampling are made in practice. Hosts were welcoming and knowledgable. Kitchen environment was spacious, clean and very nicely presented. Atmosphere was relaxed - food was extremely tasty.

Super fun & hands-on cooking class

Tastesutra's cooking class was a ton of fun, and super informative too. It just happened that our class consisted of just me and one other, so we got to do everything and ask lots of questions. We started out by learning about all the basic spices of Indian cooking, then went into making lassis and pakoras for appetizers, and then a full lunch of 2 sabjis, a dal, chapatis, and by my request, aloo parathas, and finally a dessert. I loved getting the chance to do everything from chopping and peeling veggies, to spicing, to rolling and flipping the breads. I also did the market tour afterward- it was a lot of fun...but not worth 500 Rs. in my opinion. Overall, fabulous experience and would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting to embrace North Indian cuisine!

Amazing cultural immersion

We did the market tour and cooking class today and made some delicious meals which will be doable at home. We learned about the different herbs and spices and had a fun few hours at the class. I definitely recommend tastesutra as a must-do Delhi activity!

Dinner delish

Our Cooking Course with Tastesutra was the best ever. 5 Star adventure. Our wonderful chef Anchal taught us so much and even took us to the markets to barter for supplies. Thank you so much for such a delish lunch and we're now ready to begin our cooking at home.

Savoureux, simple et amusante
