Bala told us in great detail everything about life and work in slums, and also answered all our questions about India (we have a lot). Everything was very clear to us! Amazing slum tour with experienced and friendly guide

The tour was outstanding, we had Yash as our guide and Pranav as our driver. Picked us up from our hotel, very polite and friendly. Yash’s English and knowledge of the slum was amazing as he had been brought up there. We had a 2hr slum tour and we came away astounded at how much goes on in the slums. There is no way we would have been able to visit all we did without Yash as our guide - highly recommend to anyone!

I would highly recommend this tour. You will see a very different view of this amazing city. Our guide Bala was excellent in every way. Of course you will see poverty, but if you look beyond this you will see beauty too, and perhaps the true meaning of community.

Tour of Dharavi Slum

We had the occasion to visit the heart of Mumbai, the Dharavi slum, with a very professional and friendly guide, Rukkiya. It was a very educational and interesting experience, mainly thanks to our guide, that I recommend to everybody visiting Mumbai.

Eye Opener

Our tour guide was ‘Diva’, she was amazing, very knowledgeable. Diva is a local to Dharavi, born and raised which was great as she gave us a real insight. It was an eye opener for sure, not what we expected, no spoilers here but it is a must do tour.

Eye opening tour of the Mumbai slums

My tour with Chirag (guide) and driver Dinesh was phenomenal. This tour was unplanned dans decided to go at the very last minute which this company was able to arrange very quickly. I got a chance to see all the various factories inside the slum including schools, shops and residential areas. It was eye opening to say the least and changed my perception as I did not know how much of an economy there is. A great tour and super safe tour all together and highly recommended for all!

The Sluns of Mumbai

What a unique place! Thanks to my guide Rohit I have a new understanding of India and the slums. It changed my perception so much. Rohit was amazing and let me ask so many questions. I wouldn't be anywhere though with out my trusty driver Dinesh. He was so kind and helpful and made some very important extra stops for me. Dharava Tour

We had a very nice tour of Dhobi Ghat and Dharavi with Dipen and Yash. The tour was well organized and comfortable. We were shown so very interesting places to understand how this city works. Dipen is very knowledgeable and will gibe you a lot of context, which is invaluable if you’re not familiar with Inidian culture. Yash is local fron Dharavi and knows all relevant places. He crafted a walking tour mixing many activities of the place, first seeing how people work, then how they shop and learn and how tthey live. Super interesting. Many thanks.

Yash was an incredible tour guide for our to Dharavi. He actually grew up there so knew the ins and outs of the area. He was very patient in explaining the history of the slum, including the separation between the commercial and residential areas. It was a smooth tour and I learned a lot. An insightful and engaging tour

I had the pleasure of taking this tour with Yash as our guide and Sachit as our driver. Yash was fantastic company for the afternoon as he showed us around Dharavi where he lives and grew up. He is clearly known and respected here so it made us feel welcomed by everyone. Yash studied geopolitics and he brings a worldly perspective to this local experience. He gave us interesting insights into the local economy, lifestyle and politics and we learned a lot. Sachit was flexible to meet our driving needs and even helped us get from our hotel to our next destination after the tour. We appreciated the chance to learn about this city within a city with Yash, a fun and knowledgeable guide who will change your impression of what a slum is.

Our guide Yash and driver Santosh were awesome. They were really informative about the slum tour and about Indian history, food, and sports. On the way back from the tour we even stopped to get a cricket jersey I have been trying to get for 5 days. I think he made like 5 calls to make it happen. So thank you so much!! Five Star tour of Dharavi

This tour is one we will not soon forget. Learning how these warm & friendly people live and work was an incredible experience. We were able to put a human face & story to the circumstances of those living in this vibrant neighborhood. While the differences in the way we live is remarkable, the commonalities we have also came flooding through. Like everyone, the people of Dharavi want to work and provide their families as everyone does. They go about the daily business of life like every does globally. Our guide Divya made this visit incredibly special. As a resident of this area, her insights into the industry and way of life here brought such color to this visit and made it all the more personal and profound. Her warmth and smile were infectious. She allowed us an up close and personal view into everyday life in the slum. We were able to watch and then taste the fresh chapati made daily for the workers, we enjoyed chai tea and warm Gulab jamun in a small cafe and were introduced to a fruit that was new to us - the ice apple! This was the total tour. The sights, smells, sounds and tastes of life in Dharavi. The highlight was a visit to Divya's home which she so graciously opened up to us. Divya then gave us her story and background of what it was like growing up, being schooled, living and working in this tight knit community. Hearing her insiders’ viewpoints made this a once in a lifetime opportunity. Our takeaway from this tour is that, while at first glance it may seem an undesirable place, it is also a place where beauty lives. This was evident by the warm greetings, waves and smiles of the residents we passed and met along the way. The children who welcomed us to join them in a game of Cricket. The young girl excitedly practicing her English with us. The young lady proud to show us her beautiful Henna design on her hands. We were left with an indelible impression of this colorful place. By the end of this tour Divya was no longer a guide, but a friend. She is the one who made this so much more than just a tour. But instead allowed us inside her life story. We are forever grateful and humbled to have had the experience of visiting Dharavi. 10 out of 10 and would absolutely recommend Divya and this tour to anyone visiting this magical place. An unusual but wonderful experience.

Tasha did a wonderful job showing us and explaining the life in the dharavi slum. He was considerate of our needs, made us feel quite safe and helped to better understand this difficult life.

Intriguing tour in Dharaviq

We booked last minute the ‘Slum tour’ at Linda’s tour and it was instantly organized for us. We had Yash Kadam as our guide and it was just amazing. Thanks to him we learned a lot about Dharavi, its population and activities. And he made us taste Dev Puri, freshly made and delicious!

Super experience and eye opener

I got a completely different sight on what a slum is and how people life and work there. Our guide Divya lead as through different parts of Dharavi and commented and answered everything we wanted to know. We never had a feeling of being voyeurs, nor felt we unsafe for a single moment. One of the best guided tours I have ever. Highly recommend.

A humbling and very interesting tour of a historic landmark.

This was already my second time in the Dharavi Slum. This time we arrived in the evening. The first halt of the day we spent on Elephanta Island. It was already dark when we arrived so some parts of the commercial district were closed. We initially asked the guide to cut the trip down to about an hour because it was already late. Needless to say, that we changed our minds during the tour and ended up staying for 2,5 hours. Mr. Dipen dropped us in front of the Dharavi slums and handed us over to Divia who actually lives in the slums. The tour ends at her house. It’s an incredibly eye-opening experience worth your time. We felt absolutely safe during the whole thing. Keep in mind it was already dark. But Divia is well known among the locals.

Eye opening tour about Dharavi or “The City in the City”

We had a short drive with Dipen, who picked us up at our hotel and told us already a lot about the city during our ride. We met Divya, which was our tourguide for Dharavi. She could told us so many stories about all the parts of this incredible “City in the City” because she grew up and still lives in Dharavi itself. It was very interesting to discussed with her how she lives, study and work. It was an eye opening experience to see how many manufactures, shops, bakeries, recycling facilities, potteries and working places in general exist in this fascinating part of Mumbai. It’s not like the people of Dharavi depend on Mumbai anymore, it’s the opposite! Definitely worth a visit and I recommend it to everyone who wants to check out how even the smallest gear is necessary inside a clockwork like Mumbai. Afterwards Dipen picked us up and drove us back to our hotel.
