Wonderfully raw early morning experience

Adi was absolutely great! Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Experiencing the key markets of Mumbai is an essential trip and an experience you’ll never forget. I really suffer from the heat, so a whistle stop walk round different locations with an air-conditioned Taxi to jump into between stops was ideal! We started off at Sassoon Dock just before dawn, piles of Bombay duck and shrimp, Indian salmon and even manta rays, the smell of the fresh fish was amazing, the smell of the drying fish close by was not so amazing! We then travelled through various other markets around the city as we worked from the south to the north, making carefully curated walks along the way. The traffic wasn’t too bad so we made good time and even had a chance to visit a large cricket ground, where there were some impressive skills on display in addition to a fine young lady and gentlemen that gave amazing displays of strength and stamina climbing a pole and doing incredible feats on a rope! Apologies I have forgotten the name of the discipline. My driver stopped at a viewing point for the suspension bridge. Thank you Adi for a wonderful experience that I will never forget.

Phenomenal Mumbai by Dawn Tour

Nimisha is an excellent guide! She is knowledgeable, easy-going and enjoyable to be around. I’m a young woman and was travelling solo in Mumbai. She gave me great tips for and also recommendations for the rest of my travels. Anyone would enjoy seeing Mumbai with Nimisha as a solo traveler or as a group booking.

Amazing trip with Batul to the fish market and flower market

The fish market at dawn is quite an experience - busy, noisy, full of color and life. And a little smelly! From there to the flower market via newspaper sorting and the public laundry was an incredible insight into the workings of Mumbai. Batul is a wonderful guide, very informative and a lovely person to spend a few hours with early on the morning. Definitely worth doing.

Amazing morning trip.

Amazing Morning Trip in Mumbai. You have to go if you have time. Never thought the fish market was this intense. My favorite was the flower market with rows of Mary Golds.

Only Tourists Around

Having already completed 'Highlights of Mumbai' with guide Meherban Irani, we were delighted to find out that he was also to be our guide for 'The Original Mumbai by Dawn'. The early morning alarm clock call is definitely worth it ; we experienced sights and sounds that would have been impossible without a guide. Early morning, before dawn, Mumbai is such a different city - we seemed to be the only tourists around. Every stop was worthwhile and completely immersive - you get right in on the action! We would fully recommend this tour if you want to do more than scratch the surface of Mumbai - although you might find you slightly smell of fish when you get back! An excellent insight into the real Mumbai, visiting the fish market, flower and vegetable markets with a stop for breakfast, chai and rolls, and a view of the worlds largest outdoor laundry. Our guide Meherban was very knowledgeable, informative and painted a great picture of the city!

We enjoyed this Mumbai by Dawn tour so much the first time we came to Bombay that we couldn’t resist sharing it with more friends this time around. The original “Mumbai by Dawn” tour from No Footprints is not to be missed. If you are already upside down from a huge time difference getting up for this 5:15am tour is the perfect treat for the senses. And even if you don’t like getting up early, find a way to make it happen as you will see, hear, taste & smell the genuine local Mumbai experience like you can no other way! Our experienced guide, Adi, along with Shruti and our highly skilled driver took us on a tour we will not soon forget. From the famed fishing docks, to vibrant and bustling fruit & vegetable markets, on to early am newspaper routing by bicycle couriers, and finally the oh so colorful flower markets were all expertly described in perfect English with two delightful guides who kept us safe and having all kinds of fun. Adi has a great sense of humor, and his knowledge of the local ways and customs was fascinating to hear, see and experience so directly it was quite astonishing indeed! Especially so for the four of us fresh off the plane from the states. He was also most helpful with photo taking, and his microphone-amplifier made it very easy to hear and understand over the delightful chaos that swirled all around us during the tour. By the way, we were back in time for breakfast around 8:00 at our hotel, and had time for a refreshing long nap before enjoying the rest of the day on our own. Thanks again Adi!

Awesome start to your morning in Mumbai

If you want to experience a side of Mumbai hidden to most of the tourists, you definitely should try this. Wake up early in the morning and head straight to the fish market, which is the most peculiar thing you’ll see! My guide was Derrick and he was marvelous! I kept asking lots of questions and he kindly answered them all and kept things very interesting. Footprints is very professional, the driver was superb as well. I’d highly recommend this tour. I wish I could’ve done other tours with them. Thank you so much!

The way it works in Mumbai

If you're looking for a knowledgeable, smart, and funny guide, Aditya is the right choice. He was waiting for us at the Taj Palace at 5:15am and we got started on his tour of Mumbai. The fish market is the highlight, with the sights, sounds, and smells of a working dock. The rhythm of the market is hard to put into words but Aditya's energy matches it well and it's an immersive experience. From there we went to the vegetable and fruit markets, stopped by the newspaper delivery staging area for a chai and then finished at the flower market. I think what sets Aditya apart is his seamless style and delivery. It was 100% authentic and we came away feeling as if we were a part of all the markets we visited.

Fabulous Mumbai

This was our second trip to Mumbai, but experiencing it again with Heer was fabulous. Not only was she knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge in a way that was interesting to us, but was also very accommodating in trying to fulfill all the ideas we came up with. Not-to-be-missed tour experience in Mumbai

Excellent Mumbai with Dawn tour, led by Adi! This is really a “behind the scenes” tour showing how the city awakens, including a lot of the activities that underpin daily life in Mumbai - the fish market, newspaper sorting and distribution, vegetable market, fruit market, flower market. The colors (vibrant), the smells (good and bad), the pace of wholesale trade - all of this and a quick circuit around Mumbai with minimal traffic. We even stumbled into a boisterous birthday celebration of a revered historic figure, with drums, firecrackers and hundreds of men in white robes and orange turbans! Our guide, Adi, did a wonderful job explaining many of the customs and practices that we observed. Outstanding!

Exciting Mumbai Wake-up

This early morning tour of Mumbai markets was fascinating and fun. It felt like we were getting to know a bit of the real Mumbai. Adi was a great guide—knowledgeable and entertaining.

Mumbai in the morning

Our guide, Meherban Irani, picked us up at about 4AM and we were off. We got right into the middle of the Sasoon fish market and auctions, saw news paper sorting and distribution in, apparently, many languages, an early food distribution market, a beautiful flower distribution market, and, after a break for our breakfast, the hot lunch distribution system of the Dubbawalas. Meherban looked after our safety and kept up informed on the commings and goings that help keep Mumbai moving. It was certainly worthwhile for us.

Don't miss this tour!

This tour was a highlight of our trip to India! Radhika was our guide, and we could not have had a better person to show us all the interesting things happening before most people are up in Mumbai. The fish market at Sassoon Docks was fascinating, we enjoyed seeing the process to get newspapers ready for delivery, had a delicious chai, were luckily able to feed some sacred cows, visited a produce market and the beautiful flower market and saw early morning exercising. Radhika gave us great background on everything we saw and went out of her way to show us as much as possible. Take advantage of the opportunity to see this side of Mumbai!

Incredible experience!

This tour with Tvishi was incredible - much better than imagined. She was articulate and knowledgeable, giving us an understanding of the end-to-end processes that we were witnessing, as well as the historical background.

Aditya was great

We did the early morning tour with Aditya and he was great! Really lovely tour guide who spoke perfect English, told some great (sometimes) jokes, was very informative and very helpful! He even sent lots of recommendations of what to do for the rest of our time in Mumbai after our tour had ended. Highly recommend the tour and Adi as a guide!

I had Radhika as my guide. She was excellent. Very knowledgeable on the places we visited and great company for a solo traveller. The itinerary was excellent, and a great mix of seeing the inner workings of the city and exposure to the food markets. Going as early as we did was definitely a good idea as it allowed us to get around a lot easier and offered a very good perspective of what goes into making the city run. Very much worth while.

Great early morning experience of Mumbai

This is a must do tour of Mumbai, Seeing the surrounding streets empty but the Sassoon Docks extremely busy as the city awakes. Our guide Meherban Irani was so informative and kept stopping along the way to give us little bits of knowledge. If I could give 6 stars I would.

The best way to explore Mumbai

Despite having been in Mumbai several times before, my colleagues and I loved this tour. Exploring the city before it gets busy with traffic is the only way to do it. Our guide Nimisha was brilliant as helping us understand the history and present day of Mumbai - couldn't recommend her more.

Highlights of Mumbai and the Golden Triangle

This was a fab experience. From the start meeting up with the Tour manager, John Rayment, who was welcoming, kind, courteous, helpful, it was a great holiday. The itinerary was very full-on. Hotels were fab. The food 5 star. Local guide, Bavinder, was excellent. Coach tour was well organised to visit the local sites. Would highly recommend to any couples looking for a full Indian tour guided experience.

Knowledgeable guide answered all our questions. Loved the fruit market and the flower.market, fish market was interesting but good tonget over 1st to move onto pleasant smells :). Would highly recommended to get a good insight into the life of the market workers and communities in Mumbai
