An exciting experience...cooking "in" Mumbai

I got this class as a gift and really enjoyed the experience. Although we already cooked Indian food before this was a true authentic experience with a very friendly cooking teacher and as a result a delicious meal. Especially in times without travelling a perfect way to get a small view into an Indian kitchen.Thanks a lot. I can only highly recommend zu.

Easy, tasty Indian cooking

It was very easy to follow and the end result was gorgeous. Now I know how to make a proper thick sauce.

I bought this experience for my husband’s birthday, and I'm so glad I did. We cooked a wonderfully delicious meal (Pav Bhakti) online alongside Mrs Jethva in her kitchen in Mumbai. It was a vegetarian dish, followed by a rice desert - that beats our British rice puddings hands down! Her and her husband contacted us beforehand with the recipe and gave us instructions, so all the preparations were done by the time it started. This meant that we were ready to go and we then spent an hour of creating wonderful smells and tastes in our kitchen with Mrs Jethva in hers. All of the measurements come in American cup sizes so if you’re not used to that you’ll need to convert to oz or g. We did it over our phone via WhatsApp- we couldn’t get our web WhatsApp film to work on our laptop - it would have made it a bit easier if we could have done it that way, but that was technology at our end. There were a couple of technical glitches where the connection dropped but we always reconnected. I would thoroughly recommend this. It is definitely authentic, Mrs Jethva has an envious array of spices and foods in her kitchen, and her gas stove, and because it was divali she had decorated a part of her home and you could hear the fire crackers going off outside. The food at the end was absolutely delicious, and now I’ve got the recipe and know how I will definitely be cooking it again. I’m so pleased we did this and would highly recommend it to anyone else who would like to be taught how to cook Indian food direct from India.

Delightful experience for the cooking and beyond

This was a great experience being in a kitchen in the middle of large slum in Mumbai and see the pride in our hosts faces. They were a joy to watch, listen to, and see their home and outside their windows. I did not cook, just followed along and took notes. I'll be cooking this just as soon as some of the spices arrive. Thank you, and I'll be back for more!

Excellent Mumbai cooking experience

This was an excellent couple of hours learning to cook the Mumbai way. My dad booked this online cooking class as a surprise for my mums birthday. It was brilliant from the get go. The English from our host was excellent. I would definitely recommend this unique cooking experience.

Lovely Birthday present

This was an excellent cooking experience shared between three family members at different locations.the online virtual demonstration was very rewarding delivered in a friendly manner using very good English. The food tasted delicious and we all received the ingredients in plenty of time.

What is this space for

A bit fast to follow and cook but really excellent all around certainly recommend. Food was a bit hot spicy for our taste

Virtual cooking class and visit in Mumbai!

This was a very good experience that we will remember for a long time. We had some issues with connectivity and sound at first, but it all worked out nicely. Our hosts / instructors were lovely, friendly people, with plenty of patience towards us as we asked questions and sometimes took our time:). Also the email exchanges prior to the class were helpful. They were responsive and quick to offer alternatives when we couldn’t find all the ingredients due to the lockdown restrictions. We also got a very pleasant tour of the house and the surrounding area. Truly a good experience. Highly recommended!

Virtual cooking class

I had a incredibly fun and engaging virtual cooking class with Kajal and Shailesh. We cooked paneer matar masala and it was so delicious. They walked me step by step and provided an ingredient shopping list to prepare for the class. Kajal and Shailesh care a lot about my experience in the cooking class. They also shared a lot of background on their lives and just what it is like living in one of Mumbai’s largest slums (apparently where they filmed Slumdog Millionaire!) I highly recommend that you take this class—you can be a beginner like me or someone who has some experience cooking Indian food. This class has something for everybody. Five stars!

Amazing Authentic Cooking Class!

Shailesh and his wife did a wonderful job explaining the recipe step-by-step. Not only did they teach us an awesome recipe, they gave us a great taste of their lives and culture in India. Such a cool experience. 10/10 would recommend!
