Buddhist history within Mumbai surrounds

Requires walking over uneven ground but well worth the effort. You get to see wildlife on the bus drive up and then walk up to view several of the 109 caves. Going early in the morning is a good idea.

Fantastic and Educational day out

Travelling as a solo female it was important that I felt safe so I booked online through GetYourGuide. I was also happy to find that the cost of going solo was only a third more - and not double like the other tour companies. I was picked up on time at my hotel by Mystical Mumbai driver and tour guide Anthony who drove me the hour to Sanjay Gandhi National Park. I was met by professional guide Prof Ganesh Vakale and caught the internal bus for the 7km ride to the cave entrance through beautiful lush forests. Prof Ganesh knew everything about Kanheri Caves and we spent an amazing few hours climbing stairs all over the site and learning the 2500 years of history. I really recommend using a professional guide like Ganesh to learn everything that you wouldn’t easily be able to learn on your own. He was Aldi happy to take as many photos and videos as I wanted - very accomodating and friendly. An experience not to be missed while staying in Mumbai. I also recommend going early in the morning as it gets quite hot. Finishing there and catching the bus back to the front gate I returned gratefully to the air conditioned vehicle and drove with Anthony and the driver to a ferry departure place to take a ferry to the Global Vipassanda Pagoda which was an incredible sight. I also had great fun catching the ferry loaded with families beautifully dressed up for Diwali. A really fantastic day out I am looking forward to booking more adventures through Mystical Mumbai tours while staying in Mumbai.

Interessing tour

We had a longer layover in Mumbai. Dev, our guide, made shure everything went smooth and definetely went the extra mile. Park did not allow any cars in that day, so he arranged some bikes. Dev had good knowledge about the caves and gave us some interessing insights. Highly recommended!

Enjoyable hike with great guides

My tour guide Dev was very friendly and the driver for the tour was the best driver I had during my stay in Mumbai- both efficient and safe. Although the tour guide wasn't able to spout hundreds of facts about the caves, he knew a good deal of information, enough to answer my questions. The true joy of the tour was just getting out of the hustle of Mumbai and walking around the national park to marvel at the caves. After completing the tour, I still think it was overpriced, but it was the only real option I saw when I was looking last minute.

Kanheri Cave Half-Day Tour

I had a long layover in Mumbai and am so glad that I did this tour. Everything went smoothly and as planned. Dev, the guide, was excellent: knowledgeable about the culture and history, patient and understanding with my questions, and worked very hard at ensuring the best experience possible. The caves are fascinating and fun to climb to. They are not overly visited by tourists so I was able to explore at my leasure. (But understand that it's crowded on weekends) Wear comfortable walking shoes and plan to spend time enjoying the ambiance of the scenery.

We were picked up at our hotel in Juhu by a guide and driver. The hotel pickup is very convenient as tourists visiting the city. On the way to the park our guide told us about Mumbai, as a local he was quite knowledgeable. The park was nice and the caves were really impressive, some carved Buddhas that were more than 20ft tall! At the top of the hill there is a great vantage point to see the rest of the park and parts of Mumbai. Animals that we saw: Deer, 2 species of monkeys, lizards, birds. Worth the visit!

Kanheri Caves

Wow... This place is humongous! My tour guide was very knowledgeable & kind. I'm traveling by myself and to have them take me there, get me there and arrange everything for me was amazing. It was super busy, tons of people, so much to see, walk and to take it in! I got back to my hotel and passed out for several hours- no joke! But it was totally worth it! Thank you for all your help! Wonderful Kanheri Caves tour

Our guide, Mr. Siddhi, proved a real treasure trove of knowledge on religions and philosophies and made all the difference between a run-of-the-mill and a highly educative tour. This was complemented with very enlightening conversations on various other aspects of life in ancient and present-day India, for all of which we thank him and our driver so very much. (Like your previous reviewer, JoannaEMP, we also had a flat tyre which was dealt with very quickly and efficiently).

Great tour

I was impressed with the knowledge of the guide (1 November tour), and his willingness to answer lots of questions not only about this amazing attraction but about life in Mumbai etc etc. the driver was also terrific- even fixed a flat tyre in record time and with no fuss! Highly recommend this activity and thx to the guide and driver for an enjoyable and informative day. Joanna
