One of my best tours in India!

First, I’d like to say how impressed I was by Khaki Tours overall experience. They were kind enough to ask me about my backgroud, so that they could personalize the tour just for me. My guide Rizwan was lovely, he was such an enthusiast about indian history and I could see he was focusing on the topics that would interest me the most. They also had a booklet with loads of pictures and maps that enable me to better understand how Mumbai was back in the day. I highly recommend you choose this tour, specially in a city like Mumbai. It’s rare to find a company that cares so much about preservation of history, as Khaki. I can’t express enough my gratitude for this experience!

An afternoon walking tour with a difference!

Loved the way Mr. Rizvi introduced us to the walk and said we would start from where the British soldiers entered Bombay and end with from where the last British soldiers left India, at the Gateway of India. It was hot, and sweaty, April being such a month in Mumbai, but we forgot all that as we progressed on the walk. Really enjoyed the walk and all the snippets of info Mr. Rizvi kept giving us. Would definitely recommend Khakhi tours to others!

A Fort-unate experience

So much history was shared about Mumbai, so interesting and well put! The walk was truly wonderful. Khaki ambassador Priya was very hospitable and asked us fun questionnaires. A lot of anecdotes and stories were shared by her which I’ll remember for a long time.

Great tour and fantastic guide!

Khaki tours is a must try. This is not your average tour; it is very carefully and professionally curated with experienced, knowledgeable and respectful guides who are also amazing storytellers. I have enjoyed many tours through my travels, but Khaki tours was one of a kind, they have taken tours to the next level. We enjoyed every second of the tour we did with our amazing guide Navin, and hope to go back to Mumbai and try more of their tours and learn more about the history and heritage of this buzzing city.

Engaging and informative tour with a passionate and knowledgeable host

We thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour with Navin. The hot summer day in April was quickly forgotten as we were drawn in by Navin's knowledge and passion for Mumbai and it's rich history. Highly recommend this tour (and other Khaki tours) for anyone who has the time and opportunity. I wish we were here for longer on this trip to partake in more of what Khaki tour has to offer, but hopefully next time!! Pls do not miss this experience.

The Castle2Gateway tour was amazing - Priya is an awesome guide who was so knowledgeable about Mumbai's history and able to answer all our questions expertly. Could not recommend this detailed, fast-paced tour more highly for anyone visiting!

Fort walk!simply amazing!

This morning we went on a fort walk as a family and our khakhi ambassador was Vikram Ramarajan. It was so amazing and very informative.. Vikram explained everything in very lucid style and time just flew.. We felt that we had learnt and understood a lot in such a short time. Next time we go on a khakhi tour, we would love to have Vikram Ramarajan accompany us again. It was a wonderful experience. Thank you 🌹

New info about Old Town

The explanation provided by the guide was very informative. The walk through was around 2 hours alongside the various old buildings in Fort Mumbai.

Mumbai through its Gates….. Glimpses of Past

A must do tour in Mumbai. Having lived in Mumbai for over a decade, I felt I hardly Knew Mumbai beyond the famed 7 island fable. The tour was extremely well curated, emphasis on historical accuracy. Something that makes it an extremely rich and exhilarating experience. To overlay history with quirky small little facts, made it an interesting walk. Bravo to the entire team of Khakhi, doe putting this together.

Know your history.

Khaki tour with Kaevan Umrigar. One will see what Bombay was before it became Mumbai. The connection between the East India Company, the Portuguese, the Marathas, the American Civil war, the Opium trade with China, the growth of the cotton trade, the Mumbai port, the origin of railways and the making of modern Bombay, the only real cosmopolitan city in India that it is today from what was seven small islands it once was all told in one seamless story. People of the city have been oblivious to the history and have been walking past, sitting on, and even spitting on some of these places that have been buried in plain sight. Once you do this walk it is impossible to not see the history that made this great city what it is today. The ‘pyaus’, the gargoyles on keystones, the stock exchange of the past right next to the BSE, the port, the marketplace, the the 300 year old St. Thomas Cathedral, with Mother Theresa, Rudyard Kipling, Henry Robertson Bowers (one of Scott’s team to the South Pole), all being part of the story. All this and more come alive in this two hour walk in a 1km radius. Imagine how much more Bombay has to offer.

So many stories about a city that I thought I knew well. The guide was well informed, entertaining and clearly passionate about the city and its history. Highly recommended even if you are a Mumbaikar.

The trip was so insightful!! Never knew there was so much history hiding behind the buildings I see on the day to day. Our guide definitely gave us his best and made this trip much interesting.

A must-do walk for architecture and history buffs, discover the not-so hidden treasures of Mumbai.

Had a fab experience with Sunanda, our host is passionate, well-informed, and resurrected that period in front of our eyes. Never knew this side to Mumbai, the buildings that we just drive past in a hurry, have so many stories, rich cultural and architectural and historical significance of the small area that the walk covers. But manages to cover 500years of our chequered past. She made sure the walk was even-paced, allowed us to linger or herded us when needed and is a fountain (no puns intended)(as we saw many fountains on our walk) of factoids, anecdotes and small stories. As she is a working architect with a busy practice, she could point out the small architectural details of the various buildings that we went past. She has an eye for the quirky, the unusual and the really important aspects of the area we covered. We will come back again as a group with Sunanda, to explore more of our city's history. Thank you!

Excellent tour organisation The guide was very knowledgeable and polite and friendly. She was flexible and adjusted to our requirements Though we are from Mumbai, it was very interesting to know the history of the city. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk. Great experience.

Private Art Deco Walk

Amazing tour, Aparna was such a thoughtful and knowledgeable tour guide, we learned so much about Mumbai and its history and culture that created such beautiful Art Deco buildings. The walk was expertly paced and was the highlight of our trip. Highly recommend!

Nariman Lighthouse Walk - A Homage

Nariman Lighthouse Walk I have been on multiple walks with Khaki Tours which have been entertaining, filled with history and fun anecdotes. However the tour on Sunday was a sombre one which brought back the memories of the ghastly terrorist attacks on Mumbai. This was the tour of the Nariman House (renamed in 2018 as Nariman Lighthouse) in Colaba which is the Chabad centre for the Jewish community. We had seen the rescue ops of the Nariman Lighthouse on television. However visiting the site of the attack and of the gruesome murders of the Jewish rabbi and rebbetzin among others on the two days from 26 to 28 November 2008 was a poignant one. Pankaj Pradhan our very knowledgeable guide gave us a gist of the modus operandi of the attacks on each of the locations in mumbai (helpful for the knowledge of the younger generation) and more particularly the siege of Nariman House. This tour was curated very well by Khaki and ably explained by our guide, Pankaj.

Amazing guided tour with Khaki Tours!

The sites were amazing and the guide explained all the sites so well. The guide, Ram Kumar Warrier, was extremely knowledgeable about the sites and the history we couldn’t get enough. I highly highly recommend this tour and this company, they do it for the love of the history and the sites and it comes through in the tour! Can’t wait to do another.

Informative and interesting!! A must do

Fascinating historical perspective of Mumbai with some fascinating stories.

Our ambassador was Usha. She was brilliant. We heard some Fascinating stories of the colonial history of Mumbai. Despite being a visitor to the city for decades I felt I learned so much about the city. Highly recommended to Indians and non Indians alike.

Walking tour of art deco history in Bombay

Jimmy Shroff, and new guide Pervez, were very knowledgeable about the art deco history that we were interested in. They were very hospitable to us and our kids.

Must do activity for locals and tourists

Wonderful community-driven initiative to educate locals and tourists alike on the heritage of Mumbai. We were guided by an investment banker. Very affable and knowledgeable Indranil made our trip very memorable.

Superb Tour

Our family did the 2.5 hour Castle to Gateway walk last December. Our guide, Cyril was enthusiastic and passionate and clearly very knowledgeable about the history of Mumbai. He made a real effort to bring it to life for every family member which was much appreciated. I consider myself to be a ‘Mumbaikar’ but learned so much about my own city that day. Fabulous!!

We had a wonderful time on our walk. Shashank our guide was enthusiastic, passionate and very informative. My friends from the UK thoroughly enjoyed it and so did I.
