Insights of Fort and Colaba

Having lived in Mumbai, I would still recommend this trip. There were so many facts, details and above all history that I was not aware of. Sagar was very knowledgeable and involved my 10 year old as well.

Fantastic tour of Fort Mumbai!

Future is built on past history! On the ‘Imperial Fort’ Khaki tour, we were picked up in an open jeep. The guide Arnavaz carried an information brochure with lots of historical photographs. She gave a good commentary. As we passed through the boundaries of the Imperial Fort (walls demolished) that had been built in the 1700’s by the East India company for trade and safe residence of its people, the old buildings, parks and monuments - still standing today, came alive. Thank you Khaki tours👏

Absolutely fantastic!!!

I lived in Mumbai for decades and passed by some of these sights almost everyday without realizing how absolutely beautiful they are and the kind of history and the details they hold. I have to thank KHAKI Tours because I now know so much more about my own city!! Initially our kids were hesitant about coming but the manner in which our excellent tour guide, Arnavaz told the stories, the kids were just as glad that they had joined. The open air jeep is a fantastic touch, we breezed through fort comfortably despite the typical Mumbai weather. Our driver, I’d rather call our personal professional photographer, drove us safely through the streets of fort and gave us some lovely takeaways in the form of pictures with the jeep and the landmarks. I would totally recommend this tour, not only to tourists but also to those who live in Mumbai, Mumbai is so much more than just traffic and construction. Khaki tours has done an amazing job at Keeping Heritage Alive and Kicking in India for our family!!!

Mumbai through a different lens

I am quite familiar with South Mumbai having lived and worked there there for a couple of years. We recently visited family in Mumbai, and they recommended this tour for a different perspective on the city. It was absolutely amazing in every way. Communication and booking was easy. Our host Parvez met us at the starting point in a pretty cool open top jeep. From there on it was 2 hours of an incredible insight into the history of the city told through its architecture. By the end of it we were in awe at how little we knew, and how we had failed to notice glaringly obvious things about famous buildings around us. We had 2 small kids with us aged 10 and 7, and they were equally engaged in the tour as us. highly recommended, even if you are a Mumbai resident!

The best way to see the Fort and Coloba areas!

What an amazing 2.5 hours. Such a wonderful way to see the Fort and Colaba areas in an open air jeep. Vasant, our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about Mumbai’s architecture and history. We learned a great deal from him. Jawad, the driver, was an expert driver and negotiated traffic very well. We finished with some delicious Masala tea in a delightful pottery cup that gets recycled. Highly recommend this wonderful tour!

Wonderful Welcome to Mumbai

Had such a wonderful time learning about Mumbai history with Arnavaz! Literally the first thing we did straight off the plane to start our visit to the city, and she gave us such a warm welcome. Great tour, great info, great hidden spot for chai to end the tour, and even helped us source an ATM to make sure we were set for the rest of our trip. Would highly recommend as a way to orient yourself in Mumbai!

Great way to delve deep into the history of “Bombay”.

Very well structured and well-paced. As always, Khaki aced the route and our host, Pankaj was extremely knowledgeable. A great way to get to know about the history of the Fort area if you’re not much of a walker.

Architectural history of Colaba & Fort

We loved the tour and were amazed to know about our city's rich history. Personally I loved all the architectural explanations and had a fun time with our tour guide Mr. Panthaky, Javed and Nana. Such tours add another degree of class associated with Mumbai. You guys are keeping the history alive!! Kudos!!

Excellent tour for history buffs and casual tourists

We did the private carriage tour of the Khala Goda/fort area - two of us from the U.S. with limited knowledge of Indian history and this tour was incredible! Our guide, Aparna Gupta, was very clear in explaining the history of Portuguese and British influence in the fort/trading city of Mumbai, and gave us interesting fun facts throughout the tour that were very relatable to us as Americans. The carriage aspect is also great, giving an open air and slightly elevated view of the streets and the sights. Would highly recommend this tour for history buffs and more casual tourists alike - truly gives a feel of the city!

Great tour, highly recommend!

The tour was very well put-together. Our guide Sagar was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He brought the city to life and made the history of Bombay come alive for us. This was fun for someone like me, who is from Bombay, and also for my kids, who didn’t know any of the history at all as they grew up in a different city. We took some really great pics and my teenage kids loved the ride in an open Jeep! Highly recommend, can’t wait to do their other tours.

Good experience on the electric driven victoria and understand the history of Mumbai

Ram was our tour guide. We had our tour booked in the Fort area for 6pm. Ram is a passionate member of Khaki tours and he explained everything wonderfully well. Since it was a busy time at 6pm, it would have been great to do the tour sometime around 10pm. Due to the traffic we couldn't stop to enjoy the views. But on the whole would definitely recommend going with Khaki tours. They also have walking tours. Excellent way to connect to the history of Magnificent Mumbai

Fort Walk with Sagar Joshi -- Interesting, Fun and Memorable

We, me and my family, did the Mumbai Fort Walk with Sagar. The tour was just fantastic. The way Sagar gave a perspective of the history of Mumbai and made us visualise how the city would have looked like at each point in time, made the experience real. Interspersing history with fun facts, trivia and stories with an amazing presentation, we did not realise how we spent 3.5 hrs with the group. It was on the 15th August that we did this walk and the end point was the Gateway of India which was jam packed. Making the way through for all of us, Sagar negotiated the crowd and took us all till the Gateway to give us the brief. Only a person with a passion for history, and a quench to give the best to the guests would venture to do it. Thanks Khaki tours and Sagar for making the tour memorable.

Mumbai heritage

Seeing the vibrant city of Mumbai from a heritage point of view has been a unique experience. Khaki tours is definitely recommended for locals as well as tourists as they share the history and expansion of the city over 200 years. It’s very commendable for passionate people like Ram and Alwaraz to enlighten and share their knowledge on evictoria tour.

A day well spent

Knowing the heritage and history of your is an addiction. More so when you have been living in this city for years and walking past these buildings unknowingly. So when i got to know of khaki tours, I decided to get my friends together and do the evictoria tour. Ram and alwaraz were our tour guides sharing anecdotes and stories of this city which has seen change hands as rulers , from portuguese to britishers and the history thereafter. Time flew by hearing the tales… i would recommend this tour to all who want to know Mumbai-Bombay Mumbai stories.

Wonderful experience!

I recently went on the open jeep heritage drive around Fort with Khaki Tours and the experience was extremely fulfilling! Sunanda ji took us through the Kala Ghoda, Fort, Fountain area, and teleported us right back into time while she was narrating stories from the past. The insights, the stories, were breathtaking! If you’re planning a heritage walk/drive around the city, ensure it is with Khaki!

Wonderful Jeep Tour

The open jeep tour called Imperial Fort was enjoyable from start to finish. Ajay our guide struck a perfect balance between history and context and fun facts. I learnt so much about my city Thank you Ajay and Khaki tours for keeping our heritage alive and ensuring that the fantastic and historical origins of our city are not forgotten.

Understanding Mumbai from the back of a jeep

Sagar was a great guide (ably supported by our driver Javed). I lived in Mumbai for 6 months once upon a time, but in 3 hours the city suddenly made sense. Individual stories + extensive knowledge of the architecture and history made the whole thing a wonderful experience. Also, we only phoned to book it all 12 hours before it happened (they may normally need more notice...), which was great. I'll be looking for similar tours in other cities.

This tour was very informative and eye opening to all the history of India. Our guide, Pankaj, was so knowledgeable of all the history while being very nice and personable. Overall it was a great experience and I learned some very interesting things.

Great tour - knowledgeable and passionate guide

Wow! We were so impressed with this tour! We had been working in Mumbai for almost a week, knowing very little about the city or area. That changed immensely on this half-day tour! Our colleagues booked this tour for us as a courtesy as part of their hospitality to us in India. We weren't sure exactly what to expect, but the guide (Bharat, the founder) was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Bombay/Mumbai. We learned about the architectural changes in the city over time, important historical buildings and monuments, and so much more. The driver was safe and attentive, so we could listen to Bharat and learn as the driver safely navigated our way through the oldest part of the city. We told us interesting facts about the culture, such as that people get "plus points in heaven for sharing food with animals," (Bharat's words) - which explained why they are always feeding the stray dogs or pigeons. We had fun riding in the open-air Jeep and could get great, unobstructed photos from there. We also got out a couple of times for very short walks into a church and to try a masala chai (that we felt completely safe drinking).
