Very good and interesting tour. Lots of new impressions. Super driver and guide. We always felt Safe.

Disappointed

The representative was outside the gate with our names on a piece of paper. After being walked here and there, he tried to give us a non English speaking driver which we refused as we reserved an English speaking driver/guide. After the run around our car arrived 2 hours late. This is not acceptable!!! He did the same thing to another party which was 4 friends he even suggested we all go together. We reserved private and so did they. I would not recommend this company. They don’t have stuff together and are not professional.

Not what was advertised

It appeared that this was the driver/guide first time. He had the list of places we were to be taken to written in the back of a piece of paper. He was constanlty on his mobile phone and gave no real commentary just pointing places out not giving any background to the place. His english was at best poor and he didnt really understand our questions so we gave up asking in the end and asked to end the tour early. The only good thing was the air conditioned vehicle and the restaurant he took us to for lunch. Be preoared to be taken to pashmina shops even if you say you dont want to buy any. After the first we told him we didnt want to go to any shops after lunch he tried again to take us to one.

Very disappointing experience

This was a disappointing experience. We struggled to get hold of the provider to confirm the experience prior to our booking but managed to find our driver outside the terminal. Unfortunately the driver spoke little English (not his fault) and so we struggled to explain what we wanted to see. Despite the tour being advertised as a slum tour the driver made it clear that was ‘too far’ so that was scrapped. We visited the laundry but the driver was unaware that there was an extra charge to actually enter the laundry - so we ended up at a viewing platform which was fine. We had a drive around Mumbai and did see some interesting sites but then asked if we were going to Crawford Market to which the driver said there was nowhere to park so we couldn’t stop. Exasperated we finished the tour after only 2 hours at Leopolds and walked from there to The Gateway & the Taj Hotel. We spoke to many other cruise guests who did & saw much more than us, whether that was down to more experienced guides or more of a desire to provide a better experience we’ll never know. Car was nice and clean though!!!

Great tour. Wonderful guide. Poor Viator Service.

We were on a cruise with a stop in Mumbai, and decided to take a tour of the city, which was much cheaper on both Trip Advisor and Viator (both are the same company) than booking it on the ship. There were so many options to choose from, all with different prices, so it was hard to decide. Some were advertised as $29 per person, but then when it got down to the fact that we wanted to be picked up at the pier, the price jumped to over $200. We knew we wanted a private tour, which no matter how it turns out, is always better than a bus tour. We kept looking and finally found one that would pick us up at the pier and would last 10 hours. The description of the tour was minimal. The only thing listed was the Gateway of India with mention that one might also see the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Marina Drive, and Crawford Market. By searching through the various tours listed, however, we had come up with a list of places we would like to see. The cost for 2 of us was USD $74.00, a very good price. There were no extra charges for anything except for the well-deserved tip and very cheap entrance fees. I can’t find a number related to our tour, but it was named Private Full Day Sightseeing Tour of Mumbai, as were several others. If you want to find it on the Viator website, know that our tour was provided by Triptivo Technologies. The picture on Viator shows 3 people standing in front of a building. The guy on the left is wearing a darkngreen shirt with white pants, the guy in the middle is wearing a NY baseball cap and gold pants, the woman on the right is wearing a light blue top. So about our dealings with Viator, The booking went smoothly. Since I had seen a recommendation for a specific guide, by name, I sent a message asking if it would be possible to get that guide. Either Viator or Triptivo wrote back, didn’t answer my question, but asked for our whatsapp number. I wrote back and told them we don’t have whatsapp. Further our phone only worked when we were on board the ship, as did email. I gave them our email address, hoping they might contact us before we left the ship, but never heard back from them. Here's what happened (and it turned out well because we had a good guide.) We were scheduled to meet our guide at 9 AM. Our cabin was not supposed to get off the ship for this independent tour until 9 AM, and we knew we would have to go through Indian customs, etc. In retrospect, if we were to do it again, we would have gotten off the ship as early as possible, say 7 AM, gone through the customs procedures, and then returned to the ship until 8:45, and then gotten off to meet our guide. But we didn’t do that. Rather we stood in line for an hour to go through customs, and finally cleared that a bit after 10. We hoped, but didn’t expect, that our guide would still be there waiting for us, but he was. He had twice tried to reach us by phone, but he had never heard from his contacts that he would not be able to reach us once we left the ship. Our guide, Kadir Sherif, was a fine person, and we thoroughly enjoyed both the tour and his company. We told him what we wanted to see, and he made most of it happen. In addition to the advantage of choosing what to see and where to go, we also learned about his life, and that’s what we wanted. We finished after about 4 hours of touring, but we had seen enough and were thoroughly satisfied. One caveat: Remember you will not be in the USA, Canada, or Europe. Driving in India is quite different. Traffic in Mumbai is horrendous and very slow. At times, for short distances, walking might be faster. Some stop lights hold for 2 minutes, and there are a lot of them. Pedestrians are walking in the street. Motorcycles and cars are zipping in and out of lanes, or making lanes where there were none. That being said, it works for them. It is not our system, but they probably don’t have any more accidents or fatalities than we do in the Western world. We would present a hazard driving there just as they would present a danger driving in our countries. The bottom line: This turned out to be a good tour and good experience. I recommend it completely, either by booking through Viator or by contacting Kadir directly at +919 867 867 769.

Kadir was good and helpful in ensuring that we visited all the tourist spots. Very accomodating as well.

If you visit Mumbai I hope Nisar is your guide!

Nisar was waiting for us at the cruise terminal holding an easy to read sign with our names. Escorted to his clean late model car with AC, then off to highlights of Mumbai. Riverfront views & photos. Then the big public laundry area was amazing to see! Ghandi Museum was very interesting & informative in the home where Ghandi actually lived. Nisar showed us several historical city highlights and parks. He had knowledge about everything since he’s lived in this city all his life! We went inside the beautiful Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. Then to one of his favorite local restaurants and had a great lunch with local beer & wine. We couldn’t have asked for a better day spent with Nisar. He is a real good photographer, caught some great pics for us! Definitely recommend!

Chose another company

Do not advice then. They connected to what’s app but cannot communicate properly. Unless that I communicated 3 times that starting toe was 12:00 and not 10:00 they came 10:00. There were some other topics as putting us in a carpet shop because of he can park the car for free. Driver was not satisfied with us when we left within 2 min that shop. Driver did his best but we finished the tour in half time because of u satisfaction. Good news is we saw main highlights which is reason for 3 stars. We have done before two other trips which deserves both 5 stars. Differences were significant

A fun day in Mumbai

Our tour of Mumbai was fantastic. Our guide, Kadir, was very informative and fun to be with. He also allowed us to choose the places we wanted to visit.

Educational tour of Mumbai

An all-day private city tour of Mumbai was an exhilarating experience. It offered an intimate, tailored look at the city's myriad attractions. Our guide Arshad was very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. He ensured that we received insightful details about each site, enhancing the overall experience. We covered major attractions like the Gateway of India, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (formerly Victoria Terminus), Marine Drive, and more to get a taste of the city's history, architecture, and culture. Arshad made navigating through the busy city safe and comfortable. An all-day private city tour of Mumbai was a fantastic way to immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture, and history of the city, which I definitely recommend to anyone visiting Mumbai.

Taxi ride, not a tour

It's pretty much a taxi ride. Not worth the money as a cab you can get much cheaper. Driver/guide barely spoke English and didn't know much about attractions we went to. It was like that —"here we have gateway of India, go have a look" or he would just point at a sign with some basic info about the place, like go figure/google. And I don't even blame the guy – it's simply beyond his knowledge and skills. I have read other reviews before, and clearly people used to get a different experience. So I guess it heavily depend on who you get as a tour guide.

Excellent Day Tour of Mumbai and Great Guide

I highly recommend the Private Full Day Tour of Mumbai, and I highly recommend Arshad as he is an outstanding tour guide. As to the tour itself, it is a great way to see the main points of interest in Mumbai with a perfect combination of walking and driving. One note, the confirmation lists the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., but you can modify those hours as needed, which was perfect as I needed a later start time, but still had plenty of time to get through the entire itinerary. As to Arshad, he is knowledgeable, fun, and truly cares about your experience. In addition to the main sites, Arshad is willing to modify the tour to include places/things you would like to do as can be fit within the schedule. As a solo female traveler, Arshad is very thoughtful and respectful and is like a great friend who makes you feel welcome and wants to make sure that you enjoy visiting Mumbai. I highly recommend Arshad and this tour!

Great driver

Nassar was a great guide. I saw many sights in one day, which was exactly what I wanted. The car was very comfortable with air conditioning.

Great experience for solo traveller

Great private tour with Arshad. Felt very safe as solo traveller and he listened to my requests for what I wanted to see. Knowledgeable about the places we went to and offers detailed itineraries if you want them. I only had a few hours to hit the main sites and we got that done. Would recommend him anytime.

Booked a 6 hour Mumbai tour with tour guide Nisar. He is a very nice and kind guy. He know his way in Mumbai. I recommend him.

Chose Arshad, be flexible, and be changed.

By request, our 8+ hour itinerary was set after pick-up and a good discussion between guide Arshad and us - we had been touring countries in SE Asia for many weeks, and we were saturated with temples, mosques, palaces, etc. We needed to see Mumbai from a present-day perspective and definitely got our wish. We visited landmarks and a major park, the sites of the terrorist attacks, and the waterfront drive and mega-bridge. However, the day was defined by visits not just "to" but "within" two slum districts. In the trip between the two, we drove past Antilia, the most expensive residence in the world. The subsequent visit to the Dharavi slum painted the classic image of survival living vs living with no bounds - 24 hours later, and the contrast still haunts me. Arshad was our conduit to these revelations and was active both in facilitating access into private workplaces and putting our observations in cultural perspective. You cannot have such intimate access into the places we visited in a group of 15-20 - the experience will not have the same impact. At day's end, we had completed one of the most important tours of our travels, thanks to Arshad.

Half Day tour of Mumbai

I had a fabulous solo tour today. Nisar was a great guide and gave me running commentary and interesting facts about Mumbai as we drove to each destination. Visited the slums, Dhobi Ghat laundry, Gandhi’s house, Victoria Station, The Gateway to India and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. Oh and I managed to squeeze a temple in on the way back too.

Good experience; Recommended

I booked this package for myself and my father. The vehicle was very clean and well maintained. Mr Nisar accompanied us the whole time. He is a very friendly and informative person. He took us to all the designated places and explained to us the brief history of it. We had our lunch according to his suggestion which was a steller. As it was a sunday, we even managed time for some shopping. But I would suggest to skip that part and focus more on sightseeing. So, overall a very good experience and would definitely recommend.

nice private city trip

We had a very nice trip with nisar, he was very friendly and informative and showed us the big places of mumbai (even if we wanted to see something specific like the hanging garden he brought us there) at the end he took us to a very good restaurant as well. it was very coool and i would recommend it to everyone :)

Great tour in this huge city

Nisar was an excellent guide, picked us up exactly on time and took us to all of the sights we wanted to see. The heat was extreme for us, so to be chauffeur driven in an air-conditioned spacious car was wonderful. Was a lovely experience and we wouldn't have been able to do all of that on our own. Comfortable, safe and fun!

I had a short stay in Mumbai but Nisar was able to show the the main spots in the city like the gateway of India, the beautiful train station, big laundry and others in a very comfortable car. I was traveling alone and he was a great company to show me the places safely and kindly.

Great experience to see Mumbai city

Mehadi Khan was a great tour leader,driver and made a new friend too!! He took me around Mumbai's important places to see, introduced me to the old and new places of Mumbai city,saw all the heritage and history of Mumbai vibrant city and people.Felt very sad to see the slums,where poverty and poor people live,but I believe people from India are the most polite,most welcoming and happiest people I ever met. Mehadi was one of the best persons I ever met.Very polite and helpful, explained everything to me with every detail of this beautiful city and history of it,went also to Getaway Arch,the Marina walk , or the Queen's necklace and crossed the big bridge,where we took many photos from an old fort,next to it. I want to say I big thank you from my heart for this lovely experience of driving all Mumbai around and especially I was happy and felt always safe with my driver and friend Mehadi.Never felt afraid or unsafe through the whole experience. Great experience going on a solo trip with Nisar,

I came back to Mumbai after a long time and decided to go on a solo tour with Nisar. I totally enjoyed the tour. I found Nisar to be very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a very good time conversing about a number of issues while visiting many noteworthy locations. Nisar expertly drive his car to ensure that we reached all the locations despite traffic. Best tour with Arshad

Our driver Arshad was extremely kind, informative and helpful. His extensive knowledge of Mumbai and overall happy nature made the tour not only informative but very fun. We got to experience a wide range of sights, such as the Gateway to India, the Bollywood studios and the Taj Hotel. He drove us in his car from each location (extremely safely!!) and told us lots of relevant stories to each location. I cannot recommend Arshad enough, and recommend him to anyone who is unsure about which tour guide to choose. Also, thank you to Team Taxi Bazaar!

Best way to see Mumbai

Arshad called previous evening and confirmed time to report at the hotel. He reported on time and explained the days activities. It was a Saturday so the traffic was kind to us. Arshad was very friendly and showed us all the important spots of South Mumbai. He had very entertaining personal experiences with Mumbai that he shared.
