First of all, I would like to recommend a visit to the Dharavi slum to all Mumbai visitors. The tour gives a second look at Mumbai, in addition to the "usual" sights. Sahil was the perfect tour guide. With his background information, he made the tour extremely interesting.

Eye-opening

Pooja, our amazing tour guide, was not only friendly and funny but also helped us negotiate for bags and treated us to delicious chai. Despite the overall warmth of the community, one unsettling incident occurred when someone in the slum jokingly wielded a large knife at her. It was frightening, but Pooja remained composed and diffused the tension. The tour truly shifted our perception of slums, highlighting the resilience and pride within the community.

A respectful tour of the slums

Our tour was well done. Aryan was kind, warm and welcoming as he took us around, explaining everything and being very respectful of the individuals who live there. Highly recommended.

Aryan was a nice young man who gave us a great tour of the area and we had good conversations during the tour. Perfect pace and tour went through both commercial and residential side. Small group which was nice.

Enlightening ecosystem of its own

It was one of the most enlightening experiences, Varsha was so patient and thorough in her explanations. Shes very knowledgeable and was flexible in exploring some specific preferences. Highly highly recommend this for first time visitors to the city

Amazing! Not what you think!!

Amazing.. 🤩 😻 🤩 Pooja our guide was fantastic… very informative, knowledgeable extremely friendly and her English is excellent! We had a private, there was plenty of time to ask questions! We even sat down and drank a Marsala tea! To see the slum from her eyes ( as she still lives there ) is eye opening! The slum is not what you think it is, don’t think about booking! Just do it!!

Dharavi tour with Varsha

We did a tour with Varsha and she showed us around in Dharavi. Very interesting to see the industrial and residential parts of the slum. Varsha told us a lot about life in the slum, it was a great experience.

Was ok, felt like it was far too overpriced for what we did, thought we would have seen a bit more instead of some factories.

Mumbai Slum w Pooja

Hasan picked us up at our hotel since we chose that option and even stopped to let us see the outdoor laundry so we wouldn’t miss it. Pooja lead a group of 6 of us through the slum area. Several shops were closed because of religious holidays, but we saw enough of the industry and residential areas. It’s a very busy area and you have to watch were you step, and for vehicles.

Very insightful tour from a Dharavi local

I really enjoyed the tour. Sahil was great at telling about the inner workings and businesses in Dharavi, showing a lot of detail. He sometimes even took us into shops and workspaces, while also letting us know when it would or would not be okay to take photos, making sure we stayed respectful to the ones living in Dharavi. We had a great group of people, where even though I joined solo, I was very quickly included and talking with everyone. Our tour guide Sahil lives in Dharavi himself, giving a very unique perspective of the area.

Fantastic tour with Varsha

Varsha was fantastic! She is super friendly, funny and ver knowledgeable. We discussed not only about life in the slum but also local politics, economy… we loved our experience and strongly recommend it to anybody interested in knowing more about the country.

The tour was very interesting and the tour guide Varsha was excellent. Seeing Dharavi was an amazing experience and we learnt a lot about it. Varsha gave us a lot of great information about Dharavi, plus extra anecdotes too! She took pictures of us and allowed us to hot spot as we had no internet signal. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Mumbai, and ask for Varsha!

Poor experience

Dharavi itself is nice, but tour was very very poor for the next reasons: -It's stated that it's between 2 and 3 hours, and in reality is not even 1:30 -Guide was rushing -All info shared by the guide was what can be found in google, nothing special -She took us to 1 or 2 interesting places, the rest was literally like walking in the city -Guide was too full of herself

Tour was great but transport arrangements at either end were terrible

Our tour guide Puja was excellent. Very informative but also a lot of fun and took time to answer our questions. She is highly recommended but transport before and after the tour was not well organised which made it much longer than advertised.

Amazing and wonderful experience in Dharavi, Dhobi Ghat and the local train. My guide Pooja (a beautiful soul and better guide) show to me a different point of view of the slums and the life in Mumbai. 100% recommend!!

This was a fascinating tour to get a real feel of life working and living in Dharavi. Varsha was very informative, and we felt completely at ease with her taking us through the various parts. She made the tour extra immersive, and even gave us tips for other parts of Mumbai. Getting into the Slum

The guide Pooja took us on the trip, it's almost like she knows every knook and corner of the Slum. The recycling industry is noble. It's a great eye-opener to be taken down this trip. She showed us in details how the recycling industry in plastic, aluminium and other metals work. Soap making n leather curing and pottery making were interesting visits. It's important to know that people are working hard to earn a living. The industry turnover is amazing. Pooja did a good job to keep us interested.

The best way to see the Slum.

He showed us his quarters of the slum and showed the energetic and powerful people! Without this tour I wouldn’t have the possibility to come in contact with these lovely people and know the history of the life in the slum! Dharavi - A must visit in Mumbai

This was an extension of my Elephanta Caves Tour. We met Puja, a guide who was born and bred in Dharavi. You could instantly tell how passionate she was about Dharavi and it's inhabitants. I learnt a lot here. Her interactive nature with her clients was impeccable. She asked questions, explained, gave brain teasers which caught us all off guard. Puja is highly knowledgeable and definitely the guide you want to meet for your Dharavi tour.

Eye-opening cultural experience

This walking tour with Varsha was a real eye-opening cultural experience. Dharavi is the third largest slum area in the world, teeming with life and industriousness, including, we were told, two million people, and thousands of small businesses, including one of the largest plastics recycling businesses in the world. Varsha, who grew up here herself, told some of her own stories, as well as giving us insights into the manufacturing processes of leather and textile manufacturing, and many other things. Definitely a tour worth doing!
