Full Monteverde Cloud Forest Experience With Ziplining.

Great time!

Out family (TripAdvisor only gives a Family with young children and Family with teens option, so I chose friends) which is my husband and I and our adult children, had a great time here. We did all the activities here and loved them all (again, TripAdvisor only let us select certain options, not the one we actually did). Our guide, Dylan, for the Sloth and Butterfly Garden was fabulous as were our guides for the zip lines and the reptiles and amphibians exhibit. Highly recommend!

Exciting experience in the rain forest

The service overall was excellent. We did all the activities. Zip line was well organized and enjoyed them a lot- my son did the Tarzan rope and loved it. The bridges are a wonderful walk in nature: we were fortunate to see a couple of quetzals in their habitat. Reptiles and sloths tours were informative and wonderful experience. The food at the restaurant is delicious and service outstanding (Elmer was excellent). The gift shop has good variety. Parking was great and safe since we had all our bags in the trunk. They offered great photos service and now we have wonderful pictures of the experience

Highly reccomend

It was super fun. We had the all day pass, and we got to do so many fun things! We got to see butterflies, sloths, and reptiles/amphibians. Then we went ziplining, which had almost no waiting and felt very safe and fun and had amazing views. We had lunch at their restaurant and hiked on some hanging bridges with amazing views. Great thing to do if you are in the Monte Verde area.

Great day excursion

This was one of the highlights of our Costa Rica trip. The team who did the zip lining was friendly, and we always felt safe. It was so much fun to fly through the treetops! We also really enjoyed walking along the hanging bridges, and since we were there in November, it wasn’t too crowded at all. It was also so, so special to visit the sloth sanctuary and see so many sloths up close. Definitely don’t miss that opportunity!

Fun day at Selvatura for adventure!

We went to Selvatura for zip lining, hanging bridges and the sloth sanctuary. We were picked up in downtown MTV which was very helpful. The zip lining was so much fun even though some of the rides were very misty and we got pretty wet (we’re in the cloud forest after all!). The tour guides were really sweet, getting to know everyone’s names and getting us hyped up for the rides. The hanging bridges were a nice walk with really cool wildlife all around the bridges. The sloth sanctuary was so great, it was nice to learn about how the sanctuary helps sloths have better lives after accidents and we were lucky to see a lot of movement! Highly recommend Selvatura for some adventure when you’re in MTV!

Reckless staff and faulty equipment

Please be aware of the unsafe practices before you book with this company. I visited the park in July with my family and suffered a terrible accident on one of the zip lines. Near the end of the line (but before the automatic braking zone) I suddenly came to a stop for no apparent reason. However the guests waiting behind me, which were 2 children sharing 1 ride, were released early and collided with me at full force. My family had already completed this line and had to watch in horror as this was happening. As too did the parents of the children who were waiting on the other side. The whole activity had to be closed until we could be rescued from the line. Once we were taken to safety one of the staff inspected my equipment and informed me that the part that connected me to the line was faulty, which caused me to suddenly stop. We have visited many zip lines around the world but have never witnessed the reckless practice of releasing a guest before the previous one has dismounted. This shows complete disregard for the safety of their customers. The accident resulted in severe bruising and pain in my lower back. To make matters worse, the park promised to fully refund the costs of our tickets, but after nearly 4 months of chasing they have failed to do so. I hope my terrible experience will make you think again before booking with this company.

Great fun and customer service

Was so impressed with the customer service here! We had an all day tour booked and my youngest son had either a stomach bug or food poisoning and we couldn’t do the canopy tour that day. They were able to accurate us moving that part of our visit to the following day so we all could participate and it was so much fun!

Best Experience of our Trip

Highly recommend this park. We did ziplining, the canopy walk, and the sloth sanctuary. This was our favorite ziplining we've done. The lengths are all pretty long. The staff was amazing! They were so much fun! They kept everyone moving right along. You never had to wait long. Highly recommend doing the Tarzan swing. The sloth sanctuary was a neat experience. They have 12 sloths there that were all saved and unable to adapt to the outside world so they will spend the rest of their lives there. You get to see them up close. They are very well taken care of. The canopy walk was incredible. We were often the only ones around. This is a must do. We saw so many animals. The suspension bridges gave you great looks into the rainforest that you wouldn't otherwise see.

Highlight of Our Costa Rican Adventure

This was definitely the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Ziplining and Tarzan swinging through the rainforest is a magical experience that I think ought to be on everyone's bucket list. At Selvatura, you get a day-long experience like at Disney or Universal, but without the lines and for half the price. You also get fresh air and exercise. There are few family experiences this good.

Wonderful and diversified experience for my entire family!

My family (kids age 7 and 9) really enjoyed our visit. We visited the sloths, butterfly garden, reptiles and did the zip lining. The sloth visit was INCREDIBLE! We went on the first tour and they had just placed food in the exhibit so the sloths were quite active. It was a wonderful way to see many sloths up close and enjoy watching them move and also eat. The guide provided us alot of information - highly recommend. We also really loved the butterfly garden - it is a beautiful large exhibit with so many different butterflies to enjoy - definitely recommend. The reptile exhibit was okay, but we had already done a night tour and saw most of the frogs and snakes in the exhibit in the wild already but it was nicely maintained. Finally, we did the canopy tour. We had alot of fun on the zip lines and my husband enjoyed the superman experience. My entire family also did the Tarzan swing and enjoyed that as well. This day trip was probably the most enjoyable for our family given how many different things we did all in one day.

Avoid this place if you can.

Re: zip line, some guides were robotic with 0 warmth. Also bring food. $10 for chips?! Watch 4 upsells too. I regret coming here!

Incredible experience - do not miss!

We absolutely loved this day - one of favourite days from our honeymoon! We were both a bit nervous of the ziplines, but once we completed the first line, all our fears went away. The guides are amazing, so helpful and encouraging and they know exactly what they are doing. We trusted them 100% and we had a fantastic experience - the views really are incredible. We spent the rest of the day exploring the hanging bridges (thoroughly recommend this if you don't want to zipline) - the views were amazing and the trail was great. We had fantastic weather and it was a great way to soak up the sun and see for miles. We had a fantastic lunch - they could have really scrimped on this as they have a captive audience but the food was absolutely delicious and well worth the cost. The staff were really friendly and service was super quick! We also visited the sloths, the reptiles and the butterflies. This was the least exciting part of the trip due to their captivity, but glad we visited all the same. The guides were super friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for an unforgettable day, Selvatura!

Awesome day. Best zip lining I’ve ever done!

This was an awesome day! Hanging bridges tour, zip lining, then lunch. After we visited a sloth refuge. Please note that you will walk uphill and many steps to access the various zip line platforms. So you should be in good physical shape and wear good hiking clothes and shoes. Prepare for possible rain and bring a raincoat. The zip line platform guys really go quick. I would recommend slowing down. It kinda stressed us out.

Do not buy the extra pictures or rent a GoPro

I really enjoyed the zip lining. The surroundings are magical. I would not recommend buying the pictures or renting the GoPro. The pictures are few with multiple duplicates when you access your pictures. The GoPro video was not available at all, and I am still trying to get an answer as to why. Total waste of $65.00 extra for no video and a couple of pictures.

great experience

Had a great time visiting selvatura park. We did all aspects of the park including ziplining and the hanging bridges. The sloth, butterfly and amphibian exhibits and tours were very informative!

A Day of Adventure

What an adventure! We recommend renting a car with four wheel drive or arranging transportation. The road to the park is dangerous - but we had a blast driving it in our SUV. The ride up and down the mountain was an adventure of its own! The ziplining was insane and I am still not sure how I convinced myself to do it, but I am so very glad I did. The staff was professional, courteous, and friendly. We always felt safe, even when jumping off the platform for the Tarzan Swing. We recommend paying a bit extra for photos and the Superman harness, as that was a very unique experience. The sloth tour was great. Our only complaint would be that our group unfortunately had very annoying American guests who felt they knew more than the guide. Spoiler: they did not. We were certainly more interested in what the local guide had to say, and he was very informative. The hanging bridges and rainforest walk were interesting, but there were not many animals. We did see cool insects and many awesome plants. Overall, 5/5 and we plan to return with friends and family!

Crowded yet fun

We would have given this review a 5-star rating except for a few things: 1. Too crowded 2. Ziplining felt very rushed 3. When purchased through Trip Advisor the park did not receive the information that our lunch was included so we had to get the manager’s approval

Disappointing tour in a beautiful place

This was the second tour we went on and quite disappointing after the first one. The group was huge and the guides pretty ran us through each zipline like an assembly line. The area was beautiful, but we were so rushed that we really had no time to appreciate. They advertise and mention a superman zipline, but it was not offered to our group at all. I will not return. This felt so commercialized and impersonal. I will choose the previous tour that was a small group where the guides know our name and took their time with us

Raining but still had fun

All the staff were very helpful & great! Would really recommend this. Did ziplining, sloth, butterfly, reptile,& hanging bridge tour. Even includes lunch. They can also pick you up & drop off your hotel/lodge. Would recommend that because the drive can be rough. It was raining when but they helped me navigate the activities in this package.

Must-Do Monteverde Experience

If I were allowed to give this a 4.5, that would be the actual rating. Great experience but the line (and therefore the waiting) was a bit long because each group is fairly sizable. Because of the waiting, I highly recommend warm clothing if the morning is chilly (because it can be misty and cold up there, as evidenced by the racks of windbreaker jackets they sell in the gift shop!). Selvatura is one of the newest and highest (in elevation) adventure parks. Personally, I like my ziplining equipment to be new! We took the ziplining tour, hanging bridges tour (self guided ... note that it requires hiking up and walking quite a bit) and the butterfly garden tour. We did not do the sloth or reptile tours. We bought the photo package for an additional $50. The pictures were of average quality and very similar types of shots. I would have skipped it next time.

Fun Day! The Guides are Great

We had a great day at Selvatura! It was a rainy day so we were flying through the clouds on ziplines. It was fun but it was not the highlight because everything was a blur when I was flying through the air. The tour through the park with Juan Carlo was awesome. I would have missed so much if he was not our guide. He was informative about the history of the area and how it has evolved and his knowledge of the wildlife gave me a greater appreciation of the park. He was funny, insightful, and attentive. Thank you.

Ziplining is a 10/10!

We had a great experience here! The staff and our guides were extremely friendly and made the experience a 10/10. I highly recommend you come to this location. There are over 13 ziplines some of which end up being a kilometre long ! Everything was efficient and fast and we had a great time.

A "Must do" in Monteverde

We loved Selvatura Park. The self-guided walk along the hanging bridges was beautiful and we found it to be much less crowded than other ones we had done. The ziplining was very fun and was a great selection of different lengths and views. The sloth sanctuary and butterfly tour were a highlight for us. The butterfly house was so tranquil and beautiful (we watched a butterfly hatch out of it's cocoon whilst we were there). The sloths were soo cute and clearly very well treated (having all been rescued from various scenarios).

Outstanding eprience

Staff was very pleasant, very helpful. The ziplining was a pure rush. Would recomend anyone in the area to make it a priority.

Wonderful experience

This place was terrific! We did both the canopy tour and ziplining. On the first, our guide was awesome and the forest and birds and trees were so wonderful to experience The ziplining was also fantastic. I had not done this before and was afraid I would chicken out. But the way they set this up and the number and professionalism of the guides made me feel completely good It was a terrific experience

Awesome experience in the tree tops of the cloud forest

Great experience and awesome people. Beautiful sites. You really feel like you are flying. And all the green - so many shades, so lush. You see clouds in the tops of the trees. You gotta do the Tarzan swing which is optional but a must!

A+ for ecotourism!

Selvatura was one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. The hanging bridges take you on a beautiful walk through the cloud forest. The zip lining was spectacular, 13 runs above the forest-- 2 of 1 km in length. Our young zip leaders were professional, helpful, patient, and friendly with lots of knowledge about the habitat. I give Selvatura an A+ for ecotourism.

Fabulous Experience for City Folk Not Typically Cool With Hanging Outside by Choice. Fun and Unique, Definitely a Must!

This was fun for the entire family - definitely buy the photo package offered to you when you check in. You will get hundreds of pictures, along with a movie file quickly reviewing the best shots taken throughout. The Tarzan swing was super fun, but it has a weight limit of 200 pounds FYI (we didn't know that until we got to the swing). Half my group did the final zip Superman Style, which was less than half of the group within eyesight as we concluded our trip. Definitely consider Superman, it was a nice twist on ziplining I've not seen elsewhere that adds to the unique experience offered here.

Fabulous Tour.

Ziplining was so fun and rain forest was beyond beautiful. I would recommend this tour to everyone for a fabulous Costa Rica adventure.

Thrilling, informative and beautiful

We booked the full package with zip lining, bridges and the 3 enclosure tours. What an amazing day we had! It’s hard to pick which part was the most fun but the park offered something for every type of person, adventure seekers, learners and leisurely sightseers! The staff were friendly and informative, we had so much fun and wish we could do it all over again.

Customized tour option via chat, great customer service and good hot chocolate!

Kudos to the web chat team - they were able to customize the tour for us - 1 adult and child for zipline, hanging, sloth and butterfly and another adult for the hanging, sloth and butterfly, even arranged for pickup at Stella's without the need for taking credit card etc - excellent service. The person on the chat should be rewarded for patiently getting this done and booking it, sending us the confirmation. The pickup was on time. I ate breakfast in the restaurant - was very quiet in the morning - terrific hot chocolate (must try it!). We also had lunch there, worth it. As others have stated - the zip line is overrated - it is quite commercialized, the people are very professional, however this is not a tour. Unlike the Manuel Antonio longest zip line which is run by family and organized like a tour where the same guides work with the group of people, this is more like a assembly line! THe photo package was good. THe hanging gardens - really terrific and worth it. This was our 2nd time in over 14 years ago (lots of changes!). THe sloth and butterfly - also ok, not bad to get some time passed while you wait for the pickup. Decent way to spend your time. DO make sure to bring a rain poncho as it is quite expensive to buy it at their store!

Could not be better

Everything and everyone was excellent. The staff are so, so, so courteous and so knowledgeable. The covid protocols are great. The zip lining is extremely safe (our 7 year old LOVED every minute). Walking and soaring above the canopy is breathtaking. Can’t give it 100/10 or I would. Well done Selvatura!!!!

Fun and uniquely Monteverde experience

Wow!! The zip line tour was such a cool experience! Led by knowledgeable & friendly guides we always felt that safety was a top priority and that left us free to simply enjoy the experience. Beautiful park, fantastic guides and really a Monteverde ‘must-do’. We chose to walk the hanging bridges without a guide at our own pace and really enjoyed it. Thanks to a previous naturalist walk at another park we knew what to look for and spotted lots of cool flora and birds. Even a few monkeys. Again, another Monteverde ‘must-do’. The only reason I gave 4- stars instead of 5 is that we felt a lot of ‘up sell’ pressure to see the other attractions a that just weren’t of interest to us in that particular day. But otherwise we had a great experience.

Awesome day at Selvatura

This park has it all. We started the morning with breakfast and cappuccinos before our ziplining tour. The service was excellent. The ziplining was so much fun and the guides were fantastic. We then hiked the hanging bridges trail. The views were beautiful. We then had a wonderful experience in the hummingbird garden and butterfly garden. Next was the sloth sanctuary. Do not miss the sloths! They're precious. And last but not least was the reptile and amphibian tour where we saw eyelash vipers, bushmasters, rattlesnakes and a fer de lance. Don't miss Selvatura!

This place is amazing! So many things to do and see!

I LOVE this place! We did nearly everything - ziplining, hanging bridges, hummingbird park, butterfly gardens and the sloth sanctuary (which is brand new and AMAZING!). Every one of those is completely worth it. And if you can't do the full package, you can pick and choose what you do when. We did a few things on Wednesday afternoon and a few more things the next morning. Worked perfect for our schedule. The only thing I would do differently is not get the photo package with the ziplining - the pictures are ok, but they didn't give me the group picture like they said they would and my friend had to spend nearly an hour trying to get her pictures even though she paid in advance. Frustrating. BUT speaking of the ziplining, it was so fun and always felt very safe. I did the "superman" style on the last line and OMG you are flying! SO COOL! Again, loved this place - worth every penny!

Awesome experience

Selvatura park was amazing, we really enjoyed our time there! Local guide from Monteverde told us not to go there and choose another company but we went there and don't regret it at all. Canopy tour was breathtaking even in the rain. After that we saw hummingbirds and they even sat on our fingers! Hanging bridges in the end were also great surrounded by rain forest. I couldn't recommend this more. It's expensive but totally worth it!

Don't miss it

If you are going to Monteverde, you should definitely put this on your to do list. All of the activities were wonderful. The best zip lining I have ever done. Butterflies, reptiles, amphibians were so interesting. The views from the hanging bridges were outstanding. The full experience take 5-6 hours and is well worth the money.

MonteVerde Rainforest Tour

We had the best day with a wonderful guide Alex. He became a friend and is very proud of Costa Rica and told us about the seven provinces and the industries. It was a wonderful experience due in large part to Alex.

Super

Very organised, felt safe from beginning to end. Staff is competent and it is a nice adrenaline rush. I have done ziplines before but this is the best. You can see hummingbirds and all sorts of animals. Bridges are breath taking, especially during sunset!

Fantastic!!!

If u don’t do anything else, u must experience this!! Best zip line experience we have ever been on surpassing the Amazon, China, and Colorado! What a thrill and amazing scenery. Must do the “swing” at the end. Some people miss it- you won’t!

Great experience for all ages

Zipline was super. Hanging bridges are cool. Hummingbird garden and butterfly garden are nice, but only take 10-15 minutes to get through them. My only complaint was the check process was very busy when we arrived around 8:30am, and it took much longer to check in, get the zipline equipment and do the ziplining. The ziplining itself was slow because the group size was very large and there was a decent amount of waiting every few stations. We finished around 12:30pm, so around 4 hours just for that one activity. We visited the butterfly garden and hummingbird garden - both were nice, but quick visits. Restaurant was pretty good for lunch. Staff was very friendly. We had two kids with us - ages 5 and 6 - and the guides were good with handling the kids safely.

Great day for the whole family

My family (myself, sister, and 2 nieces ages 9 & 11) booked the platinum tour. The ziplining was efficient, safe, well-coordinated, and fun. The ziplining guides are really fun and funny. Lunch was excellent. The canopy walk exposed us to a lot of flora and fauna. The canopy walk was calm, uncrowded, and self-paced. The hummingbird garden was a hit with all of us. We stayed for over an hour enjoying the beauty and antics of the various hummingbird species. The butterfly garden is quite large. We received education from the tour guide who then left us alone to wander and explore at our own pace through the garden. A local artist paints as sells his work along the canopy walk. The art is colorful and varied for all tastes. The entire family loved our day here.

Great day out but too much waiting around on the ziplining

We prebooked the platinum package which included the ziplines, hanging bridges, butterfly tour (but we swopped to the reptile tour as had already been on a butterfly tour), hummingbird garden and lunch for $120pp. We really enjoyed our day except the group size for the ziplining. Our arrival was 8.30 and we didn't get to the first ziplines until almost 10am. We were advised to allow up to 2.5 hours but we didn't get finished until almost noon. It was great but there was a lot of waiting around. The last zipline at 1km was the best but throughout the experience you enjoy amazing views of the cloud forest. A Tarzan Swing is also included. Scary but good fun so glad I did it although note you must weigh under 200lbs to do this one. The swinging bridges walk of around 3km was also very good, with one of the longest bridges of this type in CR, although we didn't see any wildlife except a few indistinct birds. Lots of hummingbirds in the garden and they will sit on your finger whilst feeding if you're patient. Reptile tour was mainly snakes but interesting and took around 30 mins. Lunch was reasonable and included soup or salad with a meat, fish or veggie main course, coffee with a delicious mini cake and mango juice with free refills. On balance however, I would have preferred the ticket excluding lunch so I had more choice - the burgers looked fab! We arrived at 8.30 and left at 4 so full day, alrhough in theory should have been a good hour less if the ziplining hadn't taken so long. Overall 4 star rating because of the large group size and waiting time for the ziplining.

Hanging bridges and Ziplining at Monteverde

Wonderful day! It was a very long day, as we drove from Tamarindo. So worth it though! It was great to do the hanging bridge hike. We spent a long time looking for the quetzal, to no avail. Saw many interesting birds and plants though. Also did the ziplining. While at the first platform, we saw two quetzals! Zip lining was amazing, especially the last one, which was 1 km long through the clouds. Lunch was delicious as well.

Safe and exciting zip line experience

My first zip line experience was so much fun. The guides made sure everyone was safely harnessed and knew what to do. They were fun and funny. There are stairs to take up some of the platforms and a couple of short trails.Thought it might be hard on my 60 year old body. But no aches and pains the next day. Started with short low level lines.Did the Tarzan swing, whee! Ended with the superman style harness for a long ride. My favorite! What a beautiful view! The butterfly garden was pretty and interesting. We went with the guide. The hummingbird garden was nice. We did not sign up for the lunch. I recommend gong early, as we only made it to 2 of the hanging bridges. These are where you might see the birds and animals. Make sure to chat up your fellow tourists and the employees about where to see things on the bridges. If you take the hotel shuttle allow time to get back before planning an evening activity. Our hotel was last as it was outside of the town. Not a problem for us as we were eating nearby. I had a great day!

Amazing!

We enjoyed our day so much ! The zip lining was truly amazing! The entire staff here was courteous and helpful. Lunch was delicious. The hummingbird garden is something not to be missed.

Ziplines Were Great, but Took Longer Than Advertised

First time ziplining and it was pretty legit. Long, fast lines with great views. There were seniors and kids in our group, which means it's not exactly EXTREME, BRO, but it also means it's an experience for the whole family or your slightly skittish wife (mine did great). Tho don't buy the big package if you're pressed for time. The website says you can complete the zipline + nature walk + butterfly/hummingbird gardens between 8:30-1:30, but that's not correct. We spent the extra money for the "Black Diamond" package, but ended up giving away the last two tickets because we had to leave. Also, the Superman add-on was fun, tho a little rough on the neck.

Adventure and nature in one place

This was my first time ziplining and it was great fun. It was very well organised and I felt safe. I had prepaid for photos and the photos where good and there where many but only from the first zipline. I did the Superman and would have loved some photos from that. It is the last line and very closed to main building so that should be possible I think. Unfortunately the full day tour doesn´t include a guide for the hanging bridges so I didn´t spot any animals at all but I happend to do the walk when no other people was on the bridges so felt very private and the nature is amazing. Loved the little hummingbirdgarden with all the feeders that means you get really close to the beautifull birds.

Did the entire experience

We started at the hummingbird sanctuary and it is exceptional. Many different species and flying everywhere you look. Even had them land on finger and had them feeding while standing on your finger. Next was suspension bridges. Very good views and not too strenuous of walk. 8 bridges in total. Then onto butterfly sanctuary. Not as many of species of butterflies as we had hoped. But still a marvel to look at. Had lunch at the restaurant on grounds which was pretty good. Got to pick from 3 entrees for lunch. Then on to the zip lining which was the highlight of the tour. 16 stops but a litttle strenuous for the faint of heart. Last zip line was the superman line. Absolutely breathtaking heights and the length is the longest in Costa Rica. Would definitely recommend Selvatura National Park in Monteverde cloud rainforest.
