Excellent - Especially with Mama G!

This tour is a MUST do! As a solo traveler, Mama G made me feel so welcome, at-home, and gave me what felt like a personalized tour even though it was our first time meeting. She made my trip! Although it was the rainy season, she still searched the market high and low, ensuring I got to try two fruits I'd never had (noseberry & sweet sop - both delicious) as well as my requested mango. She also went out of her way to ensure I got the purest blue mountain coffee and tried peanut porridge along the way. All the food was delicious, and I feel I got a taste of the real Montego Bay. But above all was the company - excellent. If you're able, I highly recommend this tour! And again, Mama G is the best <3

Authentic food!

Our tour guide Das was AMAZING! He not only took us to get some great authentic Jamaican food but also gave a history tour. I recommend coming hungry because you will get full! He even got us snacks to take home and we didn’t finish all the food. Everything was so good! Thanks for everything!

Authentic Jamaica Food and Cool Vibes

I was desparate to leave my resort to experience AUTHENTIC Jamaican Food! So happy I found the Foodie Tour!! Our tour guide DAS was friendly and knowledgeable not only about foodie spots and the area but he also gave us history lessons about prominent figures in Jamaica as well. He was easy to talk to and was flexible with requests. We had a few stops and right away for breakfast the food far exceeded my tastebuds expectations! The chicken was tender and flavorful and I couldn’t get enough of the dumplings.. and although we knew we had a days worth of eating, we couldn’t help ourselves but to keep eating! We also stopped by a fruit stand where Caney (Tenny) was really nice. Great workmanship with the machete and coconut! BTW.. BEST mangoes ever!! Went a few more places like Juici Patties (yum) and went to get Oxtails ( a special request) and Curry Goat! Great tour! Yah Mon.. book it!

Real food! Real Jamaica! A must do tour

My wife and I were on our honeymoon in Jamaica, and decided to do this tour at the spur of the moment. The one word to describe this tour is INCREDIBLE! First, let me say that this experience was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! It is one thing to go to Jamaica and be at a resort, but it’s another thing to actually go out and experience what it’s like to eat like a local! On this tour, you’ll get to eat how locals eat and see all around Montego Bay. Second, our tour guide, Das, was incredible. We wanted to experience the local culture and truly connect to it! Das went above and beyond to ensure that we had an incredible experience! He was very accommodating & made the tour enjoyable. His knowledge of Jamaican history and food was vast, and he was also very insightful to the spots we went too! Lastly, if you go on this tour, be ready to eat, laugh, have fun, and experience the REAL Jamaica! We will definitely book another experience through Das when we travel back to MBJ!!

Great tour.

Das was great! Very conversational and accommodating. He was willing to do the tour on Sunday and had to make a few changes to make sure we still got a good experience. The food was great and his knowledge of Montego Bay and Jamaican history made the tour awesome!

The food tour was great! Not only did we get to eat tasty food and snacks, we also learned some history about Jamaica. It was a private tour with a tour guide for my friends and I. Our tour guide was amazing and very knowledgeable about the island’s history. I highly recommend this tour.

My recent tour with Mama Georgia was hands-down the best I've ever done in Jamaica. From the start, she radiated warmth and hospitality. She outlined the itinerary and what to expect, which put me at ease. Our adventure began with a delightful "mango hunt," where we scored a bagful of delicious mangoes. We then cruised through various neighborhoods, getting a true insider's perspective of Montego Bay. Mama G expertly curated our culinary journey, selecting phenomenal local eats based on our preferences. The patties and cocoa bread were unforgettable! We also grabbed some jerk food for dinner and finished the tour with a sweet sugarcane treat – Mama G wouldn't let us leave without it because she’s a Jamaican Angel! Fun Day For a Foodie

Had a great time today touring and eating some delicious Jamaican food. Das was great and very informative not just with the foods we ate, but about the culture, the neighborhood and the people. And the food was so good! I mentioned wanting to eat some Jamaican oxtail, and he went out of his way to make sure I got some. He also helped us capture the moment by taking great photos and videos for us. I highly recommend!

Amazing food and culture tour!

Please book this tour, you will not regret it!! This review is LONG overdue, but definitely still deserves the recognition. From the food, to the cultural experience, everything was perfect. Das was a great host and tour guide. We laughed, exchanged stories, and of course ate good! When I visit different countries I try to book at least one activitiy that will connect me to the culture of the place. And this tour absolutely exceeded my expectations! This was not just a basic "tourist type" tour. It was authentic, thoughtful, and fun. Thank you again, highly recommend!

Amazing Vacation!

So glad we chose Montego Bay! We were looking for an affordable adventure and we found just the place. We stayed at the Upper Deck Apartments through AirBnb and it was close enough to walk just about anywhere in town - including dining and beaches. We met the incredible tour guide Elvis Scott on our first night and he showed us around, pointed out the best places to go, as well as introduced us to some of his friends around town! We felt so comfortable and welcomed by everyone we encountered on our trip. We also enjoyed checking out Dunns River Falls and the Blue Hole with our taxi guide Byron. Be sure to check out Harmony Beach and find yourself a tour/taxi guide to truly experience this part of Jamaica!

Worthwhile experience!

We had an awesome time! This tour was exactly what we were looking for. Das, our private guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable, and showed us the typical (delicious) daily Jamaican cuisine. We sampled so many different delicious foods, and got a gorgeous view of both the city and the suburbs. Although it seems expensive upfront, everything the trip includes makes it more than worth it.

Tour with Das!!!

My wife and I have taken many food and cultural tours over the years. This one was a gift from our kids for our 40th wedding anniversary. Das gave us the best tour of this type we ever had! He’s professional, prompt, and so knowledgeable about Montego Bay and Jamaica. He answered all of our questions, and provided more than enough information. The local food was excellent, the sightseeing was on point, and the cultural immersion was fantastic. We also had no problems on this trip and felt very safe the whole time. Das was a fantastic tour guide. He catered to our preferences and treated us like good friends. We really enjoyed the food he picked out, beef patties, coconuts, and soup, as well as sugar cane and jerk chicken and pork. Definitely recommend to see the sites and taste the food of Montego Bay.

Das provided a wonderful experience at the Foodie tour. He was responsive, professional and made us feel at home right away. The food on the tour was incredible, far better than we would get on our own without the local knowledge. We had enough leftover after the tour for two more meals! I appreciated the way he infused a cultural tour and showed us parts of the community that tourists wouldn’t typically go. I highly recommend booking this tour with Das! Bonus - we mentioned we were headed to the airport and he set us up with his lovely mother in law, Georgia (who is another licensed guide) to drive us. She was delightful and so kind!

A Worthwhile Experience

The foodie tour I took will be one of the highlights of my trip. I lost track but there must have been at least four of five food stops + tours of downtown and a variety of neighborhoods. The tour guide, Das, did an outstanding job of explaining not just the food but the history and culture of the area. He was very kind and courteous, and very accommodating, wanting to make sure he met my needs. It was a very enjoyable and educational tour.

ENOUGH SCROLLING, BOOK THEM!!!

I had an absolutely wonderful time!! The food so fresh and honestly indescribable. So authentic, he took me to quite a few places. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Make sure you get the ginger lemonade!!! Don’t expect to eat everything. Trust me I tried lol. We stopped at a local fruit man stand and he was just a joy. Felt like I was talking and laughing with my uncle 🥰 why are you still reading?! BOOK THEM!! Enjoy!

One of the best tours ever

This was one of the most amazing food tours ever! Mama G was our tour guide and she is knowledgeable beyond belief. When we come back to Jamaica we will be definitely request Mama G and if you know what’s best you would request her too!

Amazing food tour!

I had the best time trying out local cuisine with Georgia! She was so warm and friendly, and so knowledgeable about the town and different foods. She definitely went the extra mile, she even got me fruits I've never tried before! I was so stuffed at the end!

We had a wonderful experience. Our tour guide Das was very informative about the culture and history surrounding Montego Bay and took us to some of the local food spots so we could try authentic Jamaican cuisine. Our favorites were the beef and cheese patties from Juicy’s as well as the jerk chicken and pork from Scotchies.

A delicious way to experience Montego Bay

This tour was exactly the local food experience I wanted and a perfect antidote to hotel food offerings. I got to see and experience Jamaican breakfast, food stands, the best chicken and beef patties, and jerk chicken. I especially loved getting to taste local fruit. Our guide did a great job connecting food and history and providing a context to what we were experiencing. The tour was a highlight of my vacation.

Mama G. Wow

This tour was the highlight of the entire trip. Mama G made us feel right at home. Her knowledge of Jamica and her sense of humor was an added bonus. She pointed out the native fruits, herbs and island culture that we would not have known about from other tours. The food was the icing on the cake. We wanted a taste of Jamaica, and she delivered! From the juicy patties,to the ice cream and jerk chicken, we couldn't have asked for more. This was where the locals eat. Mamma G took us to places that are not offered on other tours. She was kind enough to take us shopping. She was VERY PROTECTIVE of us like we were family. My family developed an amazing connection with her and it was hard to say goodbye. We've been on several tours that you purchased through the cruise line but this put them all to shame. This is the real deal. We can't thank you enough. We will see you on our next trip to Jamaica. Authentic Jamaican experience!

There are so many positive ways to describe this experience. But, the best one I can think of is "Authentic"! Das showed us around the city, toured us to some classic spots (Scotchies), and stopped by his personal favorites too! We drank fresh coconut water and ate sugar cane peeled right in front of us by a local street vendor. We felt safe, comfortable, and well-fed. Bring your appetite and a sense of adventure. 10/10 would recommend this tour.

You must go on this tour!!! Daas is amazing. He took us to the places where he actually eats!!! His van is super comfortable with air conditioning. We went so many places and taught us some history!!! Well worth it!!!

Authentic Jamaican Food

Such a great experience with Das he was on time, professional and friendly! It was nice to be amongst the people and eat true authentic Jamaican food that you can’t find on the resorts. Our favorites were the jerk chicken, beef patties and ackee and salt fish. 5/5 if you want a true food experience book this tour!

Great Food Great times

This was a great experience. Our guide Das was very friendly very knowledgeable and very helpful. The FOOD was amazing. Great for those who do not want the resort or hotel food and want an authentic Jamaican experience. Would definitely recommend and do again next time I’m in the Montego Bay Area.

Great Mobay tours with Das

We did both the foodie tour and the city highlights tour on different days with Das. What a great experience! The tour was interesting, the food was exceptional (apart from the Conch Soup - personal taste) and Das was a top rate tour guide - very knowledgeable, obviously well known and liked by the locals, super friendly and his driving skills in downtown MoBay put mine to shame. Will definitely look him up the next time we're in Jamaica

My morning with Das was incredible! He arrived punctually, and the car we traveled in was luxurious. Das possesses extensive knowledge about the country and shared numerous fascinating facts that I was previously unaware of. The food tour was absolutely outstanding! Local Food and Culture Experience

If you are looking to get a taste (pun intended) of Jamaican culture and history - this experience is a must for you. You will learn a LOT during your trip. I picked this tour to do with my boyfriend during our week-long stay in Montego Bay, so I did a lot of research beforehand to make sure it would be something we would both appreciate. Everything sounded great and exactly like what we were looking for, but I'm always skeptical about the legitimacy of something with almost all 5 star reviews. After reading about everyone's experiences and looking into Finesse Vacations Jamaica, we decided to try it and I went into this with very high expectations - and those expectations were exceeded! Das was our guide for the day. He was communicative beforehand and arrived right on time to pick us up at our resort. I know things can change based on the day of the week, what fruits are in season, etc., but the food stops were essentially what I expected from reading other reviews: Juici Patties, a local spot I don't remember the name of, a fruit stand, a conch soup cart (we took the soup to Harmony Beach Park and ate it there), KFC, and Scotchie's. It was nice to learn not just about the ingredients of the different foods, but also their cultural origins and historical significance. As for the food itself - I'm a very picky eater and I can't really do spicy foods, but I found everything to be delicious! While some things were definitely spicy by my standards and I had to push myself a bit, I was able to handle everything and it didn't detract from the experience. While we learned a bit at each stop, Das also told us about the area we were passing through as we drove from one place to the next, and he was very engaged throughout the experience. He is extremely knowledgeable about the community and how things came to be the way they are, and he answered any questions we had in depth. It's obvious that he enjoys sharing Jamaica with visitors and that the company is passionate about creating authentic experiences. The tour is also tactfully designed so you have a bit of time to digest food in between each stop. I just reread the company's summary of the tour, what's included, etc., and based on my experience, their description was accurate and there wasn't anything misleading. I'm just repeating myself now, but if you are genuinely interested in sampling a variety of Jamaican food and learning about the culture, I highly recommend this tour! General info that might be useful: - While you will make stops, most of your time on this tour will be spent inside the air-conditioned vehicle, so you don't need to worry about a ton of walking or being in the sun for a long time. -You'll get bottled water and other drinks at multiple stops, and you'll accumulate those throughout the trip, so you shouldn't have any issues staying hydrated - but you can always ask for more water if you need any. -At Juici Patties and Harmony Beach Park, there were public restrooms available and Das made sure we were aware of this. I'm sure there can be more bathroom stops if you need, but those two were fine for us for the length of the trip. -While we brought a small bag of things with us including sunscreen and bug spray, all we used throughout the trip was our phones (for photos/videos) and cash (for tipping). In addition to tipping our guide, we also tipped the vendor at the fruit stand as he did a bit with prepping things for us to sample. -The last part of our tour was a lot of winding, hilly roads as we went through a few local communities. That had me feeling a little bit off as I'm prone to motion sickness. I knew we'd be in the car, but I didn't take Dramamine or anything like that, so that's on me - but the winding roads are something to be aware of if motion sickness is a concern. (I never vocalized this to Das and I didn't ask if I could sit in the front seat, but I'm sure if you brought this up, your guide would be very accommodating.)

Local Food and Facts

Mama G was absolutely amazing! She took us around Jamaica and different little areas. We stopped and got breakfast which was a peanut porridge and hominy porridge. She then took us to a pattie place and we got cheese and chicken Pattie’s with sour sap juice which both were delicious! We drove around for a while then stopped and got some local fruits and sugar cane. She even got us cow foot from a local food place. We then had some authentic jerk chicken and pork. The sauce that came on the side was spicy but soooo delicious. She also got us ting which is a grapefruit soda. If I could give more stars I would. 1000% recommend.

Peaceful and Amazing

This tour was a vacation in itself, we got to try local foods, local fruits which was a highlight for me and a brief history of Jamaica from past to present. If you REALLY want to learn about the history of Jamaica, ride with Mama G! Mama G is the best, she’s very kind, patient, informative and she made sure we got to take in every bit of our trip. I appreciated the fact that the itinerary listed here was exactly how the trip went 🎉🎉🎉🎉

My husband and I had an amazing experience with our tour guide Das. Every food stop was excellent as he explained in detail what type of food we ate, the history of the food and what time of day to get certain things. I would definitely recommend this private tour . 10/10!
