Great experience

Staff members very friendly and professional. The tour was fun , I was a little bit scared in the beginning but in few minutes I enjoyed and got comfortable, the horses were very good 👏🏻 and also the guide was very helpful and fun (p.s I don’t remember the names🙈)I recommend that place 💯 and I’m happy I chose to visit the place .

Don't waste your time or money here.

We booked this excursion through Destination Tours at our hotel. The package we chose was doing the Mini "Speed" boat and then the horseback riding. Once we checked in and got our bands, we were told we can't bring anything with us on the mini boat so we had to get a locker. They did not tell you where to go to get a locker so I went to the information desk. There were two people sitting there, both on their phones looking like they didn't want to be bothered. I asked where to get a locker and they told me at the gift shop. I went to the gift shop and encountered another person who looked like she also did not want to be bothered. When I asked for a locker and asked how much, she said 20 dollars. My friend happened to be right there and he said he was told it should only be 10 dollars. When I asked again how much she then said 10 dollars. So she tried to rip me off. We waited 1 1/2 hours for our first excursion and while waiting, listening to the DJs music was awful and she was encouraging all these women to twerk, which isn't my thing. The speed boat is falsely advertised, at least the guide told us right away it's not a speed boat. We went about 9-10 mph. The horseback ride was definitely not through the mountains. We rodr around in a circle several times while waiting for everyone else to get on their horse. When we finally left the horse corral, we took a quick ride down a road, then to a other road that we had to share with the ATVs, then we were right back to where we started. It wasn't through the mountains and it was maybe about 5 minutes. You then switch horses and ride into the water for about 3 minutes. I actually felt really bad for the horses. Everyone you encountered wanted a tip. We tipped the guides we did the excursions with, but otherwise, I felt like why should I be tipping everyone else. The best part about the place was the guy with all the wood carvings. I bought something from him and wanted to use my card, so I had to go back to the gift shop. The same lady that tried to rip me off was on her phone, didn't even get off her phone, she was really rude. Once we finished our excursions, then it was an hour wait for a ride back. I was ready to get out of there. Don't waste your time or money here. Even though it's a longer drive, the excursions and shops in Ocho Rios are much better.

Awesome horseback ride, trail and ocean.

Great ride. Our guide, Cecile, was very friendly and took lots of pictures for us. My sister-in-law, an experienced rider, even had a gallop up the hill. Beautiful pool and clean restrooms. Enjoyed the short excursion.

Not my favorite

The terrible experience wasn’t the excursions fault it was more of our hotels fault we told them we didn’t want to be gone all day and they said we would be gone from 12 to 5. We were gone from 12 to 7. The excursion probably lasted an hour and we were stuck an hour from our hotel so we couldn’t call a taxi or get back anytime soon. They didn’t tell us to get lunch so we were starving. The excursion is also advertised as being in the water you’re probably in the water for 30 seconds be prepared for every single person you come in contact with to ask for a tip, the bus driver on the way there the bus driver on the way back the Cook if you get food in your private excursion, there’s even somebody there on stilts. He’s going to ask you for a tip just because he’s wearing an outfit.

Had a great time!!

We had a great time horseback riding at Sandy Bay. Our guide, Teddy, was the best! He got great pictures of us and was very knowledgeable about lots of things on the island and of course horses! He made our ride very fun and interesting!

Horrible rip-off

Absolute rip-off! Don't think you're just paying $99 for the horseback riding. You're forced to take a locker for $10, even if you don't want/need it. Plus, you're required to wear closed-toe shoes, so people ended up buying water shoes (for $20!!!) and you end up being able to take off your shoes for the water portion. Everyone gets weighed before they go in (so everyone on the scale), which is good for the horse's welfare. Unfortunately, my horse was dragged into the water, causing it to hardly breathe and its mouth was open all the time. It looked awful in the photos (thank goodness I didn't have to buy one (!!!) for $20). It's time for me to distance myself from the use of animals for touristic purposes. And I think it's time Chukka does something about this touristic rip-off, since everyone complains about the same thing, which will surely impact future tourism, I am afraid. The guides also asked for tips, so basically, everything possible was done to get money. Briefing in advance (that you have to wear a face mask) was super outdated.

Chukka Horseback ride and swim

We had a great time today. Our guide was Franki and he took great care of us. This is a nice excursion from the Carnival cruise. It’s a short drive from Montego Bay. They also have good jerk chicken which we took back in the bus with us. My only complaint is that I wished we had a little more time to enjoy the place.

I had the best experience and the staff was amazing! They went above and beyond to fulfill my very detailed request as I had requested a white horse for a photo session just days before and I’m absolutely happy with the results. I felt safe, engaged and most importantly I had fun. I will definitely visit again. Thank you Chukka!

Awesome horseback riding Excursion in Jamaica

Horseback riding was awesome and the guides was so knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable. Especially Dwayne, he made sure I had the right horse for me because he could see I was a little nervous because I had never rode a horse before. The horse ride on the trail is about 45 minutes, nice and slow you can get us to the horse. The horse ride through the water was amazing and you do have to really hold the water is very high, it’s not very long, but the water felt good after the trail ride in the heat. My family really enjoyed this excursion.

Come prepared -- and worth the wait

Once our group was finally called to ride our horses, it was a great experience. Our guide DWAYNE was fantastic. He made us comfortable and we had a wonderful ride through the jungle and enjoyed seeing cattle and goats in the fields. Dwayne taught us about Akee fruit that was growing abundantly in trees we encountered on our ride. He cautioned that the fruit is toxic before it opens, but delicious when ready and also a national fruit of Jamaica. The horses appeared to be well taken care of and all of the guides were expert riders and a joy to watch. The final part of our ride in the ocean was brief but magical. A few tips for travelers -- when they advise you to bring water shoes, it's not a suggestion. I hoped to ride barefoot but was forced to buy water shoes in the gift shop. They cost $20 and will be nice to have, but I regretted leaving my own water shoes in the hotel. The drive out there was 45 minutes and it was nice to see the countryside, but be prepared to wait a LONG time to begin your ride. And travel light -- unless you want to rent a locker for $10. But please don't fault the wonderful staff for the long wait. It's clearly by design -- the management's strategy to have captive tourists spend. Save money by bringing water from the hotel and redirect that cash to tip hard working staff.

We followed the guides but my horse had no interest in speeding up. The horse gave me dirty looks… lol… The water part was so short… … I wish it was further or more shallow walking. The horses were making noises and didn’t seem comfortable.

Chukka Review

This was a great experience!!! The people were patient, polite and fun! They were very comfortable with the horses which made us comfortable. The transportation was awesome too as he provided us with a history lesson going and coming!!! Gene Lilly aka Billy Gene was like our uncle...he did great with getting us there and back safely! Definitely reccommend.

Chukka Horseback Riding! Fantastic!!

We went for the ride today and had a great experience, the guides were funny and encouraging. As a horse owner (mine hates the water) I wanted to do this trip. I was amazed how many non riders amongst the group, but the guides perfectly matched horses quickly and efficiently and were hilarious in the sea! Everyone I saw had a amazing time! We kindly got a great service! Thank you all evolved today…I’m so bad with names but my horse Nick? Apparently ..the grumpy one 🤣…was foot perfect and had a great swim! Top tips….if you have a bum bag/man bag, small enough to ride with take it..but as a precaution get a plastic cover for your mobile, they do sell them in the shop…take them with you as you dismount at the beach and leave them whilst you do the swim part…a photographer is on hand to to capture water fun! Got picked up seamlessly from our hotel in Ochi, fab knowledgeable driver. Take some money for tips for these guys, as truly deserve it!

Go somewhere else!

Don’t waste your money. You get picked up at 8:15 from your hotel, get there in a decent time frame and wait around for hours to start your excursion. I felt like I was at one of those kid day parks with limitations and small trails. The speedboats should not be called speed boats, they only go 20mph and the tour guides take you around the water in the same circle 6 times. At least let us scan more of the ocean at snail’s pace and not the same guided circle 6 times. The horseback riding does not last 30-45mins. They waste 20mins of your time getting you and 20 other people on their horses. Then you walk 0.5mi trail and come back, get off that horse, get onto a water horse and that horse walks you through the beach water. No clear instructions and aggressive horses with young boys that think it’s funny and tell you to spank your horse. Mind you, 11yo kids are on these high tempered horses. Lastly, the zip lining is like a kid’s tree trek. Not worth your dollar, travel out further for a better experience in Ocho Rios and stay away from Chukka. The Bamboo rafts are also not a great experience. Go somewhere for your excursions. Rude gals and no amenities and everyone begging for tips. The only plus here is you have some great photo Ops.

Horrible Experience

Absolutely HORRIBLE wait times. Extremely rude young ladies working in the little gift shop. I have taken this excursion every year for the past 20 yrs. I will NEVER do it again. They cut the horseback ride in half, both the country ride as well as the ocean ride. It's not even worth doing it. They built so much other activities, which is nice, but was never told when I was booking it that I would be there for the entire day. Forcing you to buy food there, too high priced, also forcing you to have to pay for a locker, no money returned because you can't wear even a light backpack. So, don't take any money with you, sunscreen, food etc... or you'll be forced to rent a locker for $10 for not be allowed to do your excursion or get a refund. They should have more variety of food and souvenirs since they want to upgrade. I was in the last tour of the day, I had to wait ALL day for my ride. Was very bored. The horseback employees were great though. Great, friendly people.

Please read before signing up for this!!!

Please read and do not pay for this!!! This is a rip off. You get on a bus and for a 45 minute ride you are on the bus 2 hours each way. When you arrive you get into a line that takes another hour to sign in. Then they may or may not be able to accommodate your group together. (There were 3 of us and we were offered for 1 to go on the ATV trip or 2 to go on the zipline.) These are not the excursions we signed up for. So, at this point we just wanted to leave because we had already spent over 3 hours on a bus ride and waiting in line. The next bus we could take would not arrive for over an hour. Those that did do the excursions were back in under an hour. We ended up calling our hotel and spending $100 to get someone to come get us so we would not be on the bus another 2 hours. It would not have been so bad if driver could have told us some things about Jamaica or sights we were might have passed. We did ask about a refund but we're told that since we were offered other excursions there would be no refund. The people were not friendly and it was a wasted day of our vacation.

Nice Excursion

3.5-4 ⭐️The place is beautiful. Ran smoothly. $10 charge for locker. Food and drink overpriced but good rum punch. Ride and swim?? Need more time in water with horses. It's really just a photo opt. Snorkeling was good. Host are nice. Party atmosphere. Free rum punch and red stripe. Not much to look.at in water. Water was a little rough that day. Nice places to take pictures. Didn't use the pool.

Fantastic

Such a memorable experience. The staff was awesome. Lincoln took great care of us. He made our excursion so much fun. He picked the perfect horse for me. He knew I was nervous and made me feel so safe immediately.

Must Do!

Cecil, Billy and Devin were amazing guides. They made the ride very enjoyable! I highly reccomend doing the Chukka Horseback Ride!

Poor experience

Horse riding tour was presented to us as riding on the beach and water. 45 minutes ride. 30 on land and 15 on water. Once we got on the horses and started on a trail (not beach) was only 20 minutes. Water portion was getting on a different horse and was only 3 minutes. It was the most boring horse ride experience. I have done horse riding in Georgia and had a much better experience. Water part was not for experience. It was only get in water they take pictures and get out. They only give you digital picture and was very expensive. 40 dollars for two pictures. The guys who actually did the work of taking us on the trail were really nice

Not worth of time and money

It was boring, not well organized and overprised experience. It is actually not a swim with horses but riding in ocean and it only takes 2 minutes. The rest of "swimming" experience is waiting in the line. Before swimming we had 45 minutes of boring riding. It was huge group of riders moving with walking speed. Trail is short and not interesting, no any good views. When we came, we were told to wait for more people but they didn't tell how long to wait so we cannot go swimming but had to wander around. Waiting was more than hour and we could had our riding completed before the other group of ppl came but, like I already said, the organizers preferred to make one huge group which made the experience even worse. They didn't let us go with our small backpacks but forced to put them to locker which is USD $10. It's paid to get lock for the locker so might make sense just bring your own lock. Two stars because "swimming" was fun and we also had some time in their nice pool after the riding.

Frustrating experience with little information & rude staff

The lack of direction & information given made this a frustrating experience.. upon arrival, we were told we needed to get a locker ($10 & had to see about 3 people to pay, then get a lock & key from some very moody staff) & to wait for our number to be called, but nothing about what we needed or how long the wait would be. After getting into our swim stuff (as we were doing ride & swim), a staff member told us to put our clothes back on as we would do the land ride & then come back for the swim (presumably having time to change into our swim stuff, but we never did so our clothes just got soaked!), so we put our clothes back on and then after locking everything back up I was told to take my hat off as we’d need a helmet (fair & maybe I should’ve known but why not tell us all what’s needed or not needed at the start?). Then, despite the same staff member having indicated we would be going soon, we were then waiting around for ages, during which time we could have gotten food or enjoyed the other facilities had we known how long it’d be. We were told when we booked that we would also have hours after the ride & swim to enjoy the property (swings, infinity pool) etc. so we held off doing this while we waited only to be told after our ride & swim - as we were getting undressed ready to enjoy the pool & order food - that our bus was there & we had to leave as it was the last of the day! I queried this as a board stated there was another bus an hour and a half later which we had planned to get but she rudely said no, shook her head & said as there were no more tours, that was the last one of the day & we needed to go. So we didn’t get to enjoy any of the pool, swings, food or get any nice photos there & didn’t even have time to look at the professional photos from our ride & swim, which we probably would’ve bought! Cant help but feel the place lost themselves business from the many of us who would have stayed & bought drinks, food & photos had they bothered to stay open! We then stood in a crowd waiting for our bus for quite some time, during which a staff member/wannabe drill sergeant barked at the crowd ‘DO NOT MOVE UNTIL YOUR RESORT IS CALLED!! I REPEAT, UNTIL YOUR RESORT IS CALLED, YOU DON’T MOVE!’ - so unnecessary.. this isn’t boot camp & paying customers should not ever be spoken to like that. The horse ride & swim was fine - I found it quite scary but that’s just me, the tour guides were nice enough, but the bit after really put a dampener on the whole thing & the fact we knew so little of what was happening when. Please give customers more information / direction in future & train your staff in some manners!

Amazing time at Horseback Riding along Chukka Beach

We booked this excursion though Celebrity Cruises. Quick 15min ride from the cruise port. We were well taken care of and felt safe. The horses were awesome and overall me and my wife had a great time! Horses walking through he forest and also through the water on the beach. Great experience! Our horses name was FireBall and Takeaway. Highly recommend!

Ruined honeymoon excursion

These people are only here to take your money and badger you for tips!!! If you are doing the horse back riding through the water, they will tell you the weight limit is 230 lbs but their scale is extremely inaccurate. The scale is on a board on GRAVEL! The most uneven surface ever!! The number on the scale would not ever settle. One second it said my husband was 235, we said no way he’s never been more than 225!!! so they re weighed him and it said 220 but they still wouldn’t let us on the tour anymore because they said his feet weren’t “relaxed” while standing on the scale. Because apparently relaxed freakin feet makes the weight go down by 15 pounds in 1 minute?!? Such bull crap. Then we had to sit there for hours waiting for the rest of our group to finish with nothing to do but smell horse crap. Great job ruining a day of our honeymoon trip Chukka.

I came to Jamaica SOLO..The rafting experience was the best on on my 5 day trip. Jason we so accommodating and made the experience comfortable and enjoyable, while making me feel safe. Highly recommend this experience, SOLO, couples, or a group of friends!

Chukka Horseback Ride

We booked this excursion from Royal Caribbean, our ship was the Liberty of the Seas. When we arrived at the horseback ranch, we used the bathroom, needless to say, they didn’t have any running water to wash your hands. We asked a staff member where we could wash our hands and was told that they didn’t have any running water, but, we could purchase a bottle of water for $3.00 and use that to wash our hands. Also, the horseback ranch sold a chicken dinner for $15. Due to no water issue, we didn’t buy the food, especially a chicken dinner. The staff asked for tips when we were a group, no problem with that. Only issue we had, before we left, the staff approached each of us and asked for a tip. Although I tipped for my wife and myself, the staff asked for a tip from my wife. Our tour guide on the bus also asked for a tip several times as well. Also, the tour guide on the bus wanted all of us to give the tour a five star rating on TripAdvisor. When we got back on the ship we told Royal Caribbean our experience. Royal Caribbean told us that they received complaints from two other couples. The unsanitary conditions due to no running water and the staff begging for tips is the reason for the one star rating. We definitely would not recommend this tour to anyone.

AMAZING Customer Service and Well Organized Outpost!!

Shoutout to Tyrek, Paul, Meka, and Max!! I stayed at the Riu Club in Negril and a representative (Aneisha) helped me book the Horseback Ride and Zipline experience. The bus picked me up right at the front door and took me to the Outpost. There were many places to sit and relax by the pool, hammocks in the ocean, swings on the beach and a little bit in the water. I spent some time in the salt water infinity pool watching the waves between the activities. They had tasty patties, cold drinks, and really neat coconut drinks available. There are lockers you can keep your clothes in and outdoor shower stalls to wash off and change in before you get back on the bus. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. It was my first time riding a horse and my first time on a zipline and it was AMAZING!!! My friend came with me and was able to get a day pass to sit on the beach and swim in the pool. She also had a fantastic time people watching!!

Take you're own padlock!!

It was overall a good experience and if you want to ride in the sea its worth the effort. But.... the horse riding group was far too big, must have been well over 50 people who all had to get mounted on the horses, those that were on first just circled round in a paddock for 40 mins in the scortching heat until everyone was ready . The trek itself was fairly short and then back to change horses, and queue again as not enough horses, then out into the water. That part was a great experience but you're only out for no more than 5 mins. The Chukka idea is great and we would have enjoyed more time there, but journey was long with lots of pickups and traffic, that bit can't be helped, but arrived at 2pm for 2pm ride, queued to check in, queued again to buy a voucher for a padlock for a locker (BRING YOUR OWN TO SAVE YOURSELF QUEUING AND $8!), then queued again to exchange the voucher for the padlock at the next shop! We then waited around to get on the horses and all the faff getting everyone else on etc. Pick up was 5pm so by the time finished the ride in the sea it was gone 4:30pm and a queue was at the bar, so we didn't even get to order any food or drinks. Or get in the pool. They missed a trick as we had money to spend but no opportunity to do it. The horse riding group could have easily been split in 2 to save all the hanging about and allowed everyone to take it in turns having a drink etc in the bar and using the pool. I would recommend if you get to spend the whole day there, and don't mind queueing, but going for the one activity was probably not worth it overall.

Worst customer Serive

The greeting staff and staff that gets you on bus was ABSOLUTELY Horrible! Need customer service skills.. just got off our ride after waiting almost two hours to begin our activity. We were beyond rushed to hurry to get on bus. Yelling at us while we were changing. Well you shouldn’t of made us wait so long for our ride. I don’t write reviews EVER…. 4th time to Jamaica and this was the worst experience with hospitality. Absolutely unnecessary!

Bad Sheduling and overpriced

Activity didn't last very long for $100.00 (up to 35 mins. maybe) Long check in Liked that the gentleman was kind and took a few pics on trail but no one avail. for water pics. The activity was nice though. Was told to be ready at 715 and I waited around for this to start at 1030... Wasted time, bad scheduling the whole day. The food taste ok but sooo many flies near kitchen, eating was debatable. Decided to pray and let God take over . Overall 2 total activities and I left my resort at 715 and came back at 530, missed my covid test and everything

Do not book this excursion

If I could give this place a zero I absolutely would. This was the worst excursion I have ever experienced. The driver was very rude. It took 2 and half ours to reach our destination for only 40 minutes of horse back riding. I understand that we have to pick up others from the hotel but that’s not what warranted this review. Once we finished the excursion we waited another 2 and half hours to leave. When we asked when the bus would be taking us home all they said is we will announce when your ride is here. No communication between the staff and the paying customers. Once we finally loaded on the bus we were told that the reason we were stuck here is because the chukka drivers didn’t want to drive us because they were waiting on better tips from the apparent VIP that was there. So they had to hire a private bus driver to take us back to the resort. An entire day was wasted for only 40 mins of horse back riding. When we booked the excursion we were told it would only be 2.5 hours, check the website only 1 hr. Our amstar rep contacted the company in hopes that they would make our experience better. All they had to offer was a $40 refund total for 2 people. That’s an insult. Chukka you ruined an entire day in Jamaica for us and could not make the situation right and refund us for our wasted time. So this is the review you deserve. I advise to not waste your time on this excursion. You might get stranded all day (1130-1930) like us.

Memorable experience !

Visited the Chukka excursion on 3/16/22 and I must say my our experience was an absolute blast; from the bus ride there to the last event. I recommend this excursion to anyone that loves outdoor activities. We did the horseback riding, ATV riding and bamboo rafting adventures which we conveniently booked through our resort. All of the guides at Chukka were fun and very knowledgeable about the island as well as how to operate everything, never did we feel unsafe. Our ATV guide Anthony was great, he gave us some facts on how the Chukka property was used as a sugar cane factory long time ago. We ended our excursion with our bamboo raft guide Harold who went above and beyond to make us feel at ease, and also provided us with historical facts about the great river as well as the village it runs through which I thought was very cool!

Total waste of time and money

This was a total bust of an afternoon. We got picked up at our hotel then spent an hour on the bus picking up people from other hotels. Then we drive the 45 minutes to sandy bay while the bus driver takes about virginity, getting drunk and high the whole time. Just great for my 12 year olds. We got there and it was utter chaos. Lots of waiting around doing nothing. We eventually left without doing the horseback riding after waiting 1 1/2 hours because the other option was waiting another hour and a half for the bus and missing out dinner reservations. It was HORRIBLE. Couldn’t wait to leave. They nickel and dime you for everything. If you have kids DONT GO!

Great trip

This was horseback riding and a swim in the Caribbean all in one. And it was long and fun. Two separate horses (one for a tour around the property and the other dedicated to running in the water. However, Chukka itself is completely unorganized. They need to reflect on what they are doing— quick entry, friendly hosts, and a little more ambiance. Fights were taking place among drunk guests and there was absolutely no security!! Buses were late for pickup, our party boat ride (which was great too) started 1/2 hour late (330) yet they ended on time. Chukka, you must do a better job at the hospitality aspect of the tour industry. If you don’t, I do believe that 3 ratings from the majority of your guests is all you will receive

Boring production

This was pretty meh. The bus ride over took a long time, there was a lot of sitting around, and then the horse ride was slow and lame. There were probably 25 people on each tour so half the time you're just waiting for people to get ready. Spent 6 hours+ to get 45 minutes of horse riding in. Would not recommend. This was arranged by our resort - next time try to find a small local company.

Not worth the money

This needs to be a better horseback ride and actual swim with the horses as advertised. The ride was up a small hill on a rocky road and then back down a slightly different path. The ride in the ocean was about 2-3 minutes and the horses basically walked on the sand. We were about saddle deep. But it was not swimming. The actual ride portion was maybe 45 minutes. We circled in a coral until all 20 or so riders were on their horses. That took 10-15 minutes. The staff is friendly and the pool/bar area were nice. But not worth the money we paid. Have been on many rides in the past. This was the worst. Especially as it was the most expensive one I have paid for. Only reason for the 2 star is the staff and pool. The horse ride portion would be a 1.

Extremely disappointed, complete waste of time and money.

To start with a positive of this inefficient, overpriced and disappointing operation, all of the staff were very nice and clearly tried to be the best at their job. As for the rest of it, we wish we’d just stayed at the hotel. The whole day felt like a bit of a scam. Someone at Chukka is making a lot of money, and it certainly isn’t the employees, based on the way we were begged for tips before we even got off the bus. Not to mention they were half an hour late picking us up so by the time we arrived, they were already calling our group for horseback riding. However, we had to stand in about 5 different queues before we could get there - one to sign the waiver, then for someone to tap a few buttons on a tablet, then to pay for a locker, etc etc($8 for a cheap plastic locker??!!!) only to be told that my water shoes weren’t the right type so I had to buy another pair for $20. The horse riding was rubbish! Spent about 20mins riding in circles round the paddock waiting for everyone in the massive group to be put in their horse. The ride itself lasted all of 15 mins across a muddy field and back along an old tarmac track. As for ‘riding in the sea’ with the horses, the biggest scam of all, we were coming out of the water nearly as soon as we got in, literally was no more than 3 mins in the water, if that. The river rafting was equally as bad. Most of the time was spent parked up at the side of the river whilst our guide rubbed some chalky stuff on our legs and called it a massage, then he hung out, smoking on the riverbank with his mates, until enough time had passed to paddle us to the end point. If we hadn’t stopped, the hour long trip would have taken no more than 10 minutes. I have to say it’s not our guides fault, he was lovely and informative. These trips were a complete waste of money and time and were not fun at all.

Beautiful ride Poor customer service

I'm not sure how this excursion is rated so highly- while the horseback rides themselves were nice there was a lot of room for improvement. Firstly the check in process was slow and cumbersome- and the wait pretty long. Secondly many of the horse people were arguing amongst themselves throughout our rides and quite rude to the customers- yellow at thrm-telling them they didn't know what they were doing, etc.,not being helpful with stubborn horses, just generally trying to just rush through the ride so they could go home. It was quite disappointing. On top of that many of the Male employees need some training about sexual harassment and how to act professionally around women. In addition no assumptions should be made - I understand Patois and the inappropriate conversations and rude remarks were not at all cute. The one helpful and friendly person whose name I got was Howard. He went above and beyond to make sure my family had a good experience.

Horseback riding was fun!

The horseback riding was so fun. My boyfriend and I have never ridden horses before but it was fast and easy to learn. Helmets are sanitized between sessions. The whole chukka outpost area is maintained and feels safe. The guides are all so friendly and make for awesome paparazzi as well haha! I wish I could recall my guides name.. but he ensured my boyfriend and I got to ride along side each other and took plenty of great pics/ videos for us. The first portion of the path is through the forest. The 2nd portion (~2-5 mins) is through the water. Total ride duration was probably about 30 mins. You have to have water shoes/closed toe shoes for this excursion!

Fun, easy excursion

The horse staff made sure we were comfortable before taking us on the trail to ride. Devon was our guide and he was quick and knew exactly how to prepare us to ride. The whole experience was fun but don’t let this excursion be your only one for the day.

Horseback riding was an awesome experience. Dwayne was our guide and he was the best. He made our tour so much fun. He was knowledgeable, attentive & helpful. Great personality.

Save your money...total rip off.

I love horses and grew up riding so I was think this would be a great experience. Booking was troublesome and I truly wished I had just stopped and never completed the process. They charged my credit card $198.00 4xs until fraud protection stopped it. Brian picked us up at 11:35 and was such a nice man. It was an hr drive, 30 min to check in, buy a locker and swim shoes. Then waited probably 20 min for them to pick out horses for everyone. The ride was not through the mountains but across a small field, down and up to an old access road. You dismount and change horses for a 3 min ride through the ocean. The young guy that picked our horses immediately wanted his tip and followed us to our locker for his tip. Extremely rude and inconsiderate especially since he did nothing to deserve it. We then waited another hr to be picked up and an hr drive back to the hotel. I spent 250.00 total and wasted an entire day. Save your money! Total rip off!

Great experience

The guides were great, gave great instructions since I am a first time rider. I felt safe while having fun and going in the water with the horses was amazing, wish it lasted longer!

Best Time Ever!

Did every excursion available but the horseback ride was by far the best experience I've had EVER. Every employee was knowledgeable on how to keep everyone safe and still made it fun. Would definitely return.

Gross Misadvertisement

The official deception is a gross exaggeration. The ride is about 10-15 minutes on a dirt road/trail around polo field and past an old structure that was built for the old plantations. There is no riding through the mountains and you’re never more than 5 min away from the central tourist hub. Then off your horse and onto another house for a 3-5 minute ride in the ocean. There was some nice sight seeing on the bus ride there but in the end it’s a 4.5 hour round trip experience for about 20 min on a horse. You spend more time sitting on your horse in the sun waiting for all the riders to mount than you do on the trail.

Awesome Experience! 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My family and I did a few excursions with CHUKKA and the entire team was amazing! We did ATV riding, ocean view zip lining, and horse back ride & swim. The ATV instructors/ guides were wonderful & informative. For the zip lining, I made it all the way to the top, and got nervous and changed my mind. The guide Damion was awesome, calm and caring and did not try to pressure me, but once everyone else had zipped, he walked down with me and reconnected me with my family. But my most memorable experience was with the horse back riding. If it wasn't for that team and especially PAUL!! I would not have been able to complete this. He was so patient and kind and walked the land tour with me the entire way. Now THAT is customer service! I will recommend CHUKKA to all of my family and friends!
