Appleton Estate Rum Tour and YS Falls With Transportation From Montego Bay. Best Tour and Tour guide from Chukka Caribbean Adventures Montego Bay...August 2024. We booked the Tour via Viator website. It was seamless with digital tickets and flexible cancellation policy. Our tour was August 9, 2024. We had the best Tour guide from Chukka Caribbean Adventures, Elton James. He went above and beyond ensuring we were educated along the way with some history and celebrity homes, also stopping for us to take a break and photos as well as introduced some authentic Jamaican flavors for us to taste. We wished the day wouldn't end. We will definitely be requesting him when we visit again. YS Falls was not busy and crowded as Dunn's River Falls and the Falls and Grounds are beautiful with a cool Mineral pool as well. At Appleton Estates we learned so much from the film and guide. They were gracious hosts with welcome drinks and Lunch...the Jerk Chicken and Jerk Pork tasted awesome and truly authentic. I would do this tour again!

Amazing time

Loved the history of Appleton Estate. The rum was amazing to taste I made sure to get a bottle to take home. YS falls was beautiful! Great place to take pictures.

Visit the Appleton Estate

Tour started with river cruise. Honestly, this part was not worth it. The YS falls was good and the guides did their best to encourage us to have a good time. The best part was the Appleton Estate. Comprehensive tour of the distillery with a good tasting. You do not need to buy rum here as you can get it slightly cheaper in duty free at the airport. Had lunch and it was very tasty.

Best excursion yet!

Amazing tour and would highly recommend! Long trip from Negril but totally worth it for the whole experience. Loved the Safari and the YS Falls but the highlight was the Appleton distillery…. The guide was very informative and we loved the tasting session! If u go on hol to Jamaica you would be crazy to miss this!

Great day out!

Starting at YS falls, which in our opinion were nicer than Dunns river falls ( quieter, not so ‘in your face’) it’s a wet one so make sure you are prepared. After a spot of lunch headed off the Appleton estate to sample some rum. Really well informed tour with tasting at the end. Certainly changed my rum drinking habits now I have a better understanding of it. Really good day out, well worth the cost. Again, all priced in US$

A must for rum lovers!

Absolutely loved this tour! I done this for my 27th Birthday and it was so much fun! There was a choice of 2 welcome drinks which were delicious! Then we got to learn and see how the rum is made. Highlights were seeing the donkey, getting to press the sugar cane and all of the tastings. It would have been 5 star but just felt a bit rushed. Wished we had more time to take some photos and the tour was a little bit slower. But overall it was such an amazing experience, a must do for any rum lover! Beautiful grounds and very fun day out in Jamaica!

Great trip with exceptional guide and driver . 10 out of 10

Viator you did us proud on this one. We had booked YS falls and Appleton but as numbers low you paired us up with 3 others doing the additional black river trip rather than cancel us. From pick up by Elliot ( tour guide and teacher ) and Shippy ( our excellent driver ) until dropping us back to the hotel we had the most amazing time. Information all day , lovely little bits of extra information, timed to perfection and even a quick additional stop on way back to try cream rum too. Could not fault this experience or viators handling of it. My favourite day in Jamaica , loved it ! And doing it in a smaller group ( rather than with the big TUI group as previously planned ) meant we got a true relaxed experience that felt really special . Do this trip with Viator if your in Jamaica :-)

Lunch at the Appleton Rum Factory

We were a group. Enjoyed th Appleton Tour except that lunch was at 3pm. Too late for seniors. Lunch should have been served before the tour. Most of us were too hungry. Otherwise a great tour.

Appleton Estate was AMAZING! “Peter” was our guide and was exceptional! The history behind the Estate is intriguing! The tastings were well explained (Thanks Peter) and convinced us to buy a 21 year old bottle! No regrets! You can have lunch there and along the tour you are given Sugar Cane! VERY nice touch! The welcome cocktail is also a plus! We HIGHLY recommend this tour. Book VIATOR from Montego Bay to Appleton. The YS Falls was a little less appealing… You feel a bit rushed but we enjoyed ourselves!

Overall, one of the least interesting rum factories we have been on

First of all, in the morning, we were taken to YS Falls. It was located at a beautiful spot in the countryside, and we were driven the last part of the way in on a farm tractor. Thankfully, unlike Dunn's River Falls, there is a stairway beside the falls, so you can climb up it without having to get in the water and get wet if you don't want to. There are several spots along the way where you can hop in if you choose to do so. There is also a beautiful natural pool area at the bottom where you can relax and lounge or swim if you don't want to climb up and look at the falls. By the time we left ( before lunch ), they had given up on transporting people by tractor ride and had switched to buses as there were so many people arriving. So, my advice is to get there early for a more enjoyable, less crowded experience. Upon arrival at the Appleton Estate, you are placed in a large gathering room with several other tour groups and given a welcome drink while you wait for your turn for your group to go to a traditional Jamaican lunch. At least they let you get a second drink, as you were waiting so long. I believe we were also allowed to have another drink of our choosing ( not rum punch ) from a different bar with our lunch. Lunch was plated up for you buffet style. Honestly, it wasn't the tastiest food, and the others in our tour group felt the same. One lady said she was starving, but ended up giving most of her plate to her husband. We have been to many rum factories, on several different islands, and felt they did the worst job of explaining the process at this one. In fact, several of the visitors were stepping in and telling the guide about things they should have known. After the tour, you were given a tasting of 3 rums in a room that wasn't even large enough to hold all the guests and allow everyone a place to sit. Again, not much explanation was given about the different types of rums. We have been given MUCH more info and explanation at other factories we have visited previously. Mind you, we weren't hanging around looking to buy or anything, but by the time we made it to the door the rest of our group was at the door and just couldn't wait to get out of there fast enough. They were all bored to death.

YS falls was amazing. Appleton Estates was informative and very interesting. I would definitely recommend this excursion. Bicardi Marty was the best driver.

A good excursion!

We booked the double experience but because we did not meet the minimum of 4 people we had to book a triple excursion. Well the second couple never showed up! However, we enjoyed the boat safari! We felt rushed at the YS Falls. Appleton Estates was amazing! Peter was fantastic! Our driver James and tour guide Tamara were both outstanding!

Beyond expectations

This excursion was by far better than I expected. The confirmation mail was only misleading as it mentioned zip lining and that you had to wear a face mask, but for the rest it was super. I did not want to swim, but I could still go “through” the waterfall with the group. You don’t need water shoes for that (bare feet). Appleton Estate was one of the best tours I ever did - I’m not sure about the donkey they use (just hope he stands in a stable between tours so that he can also lay down, also there was no water and it was super hot) but for the rest, WOW! Nowhere was asked for tips in this experience, a true contradiction to what I experience so far in Jamaica. The overall tour guide Elliott deserves a medal, was really good.

Appleton estates. YS falls, black safari tour

Appleton Estates was a very good tour. You learn alot and taste alot of rum. Free drinks and food. Great time. Black river safari was good but short because it was late and it Rained. YS falls was a total bust because of the rain . Otherwise it would have been nice

A must when in Jamaica

What a day! Staff were all super nice and they gave us so much info about Jamaica 🇯🇲 super entertaining and educative. The schedule was on point we had just the right amount of time at each activities and we felt in safe hands.

Worth it!

Highly recommended YS Falls and the Appleton Estate. We had a wonderfully fun time! Our driver and tour guides were very interactive and informative. Would go again!

Y’all Falls is Paradise

The falls are a “can’t miss” experience and the tour provides a perfect amount of time to relax and explore. There are gorgeous gardens and multiple spring-fed pools to enjoy here as well. I chose this tour for the falls, but was also pleasantly surprised by the Appleton tour- even if that isn’t “your thing” it is a nice experience. As a woman traveling alone in Jamaica, this tour was fun, safe, and a highlight of my trip. Eliot, our tour guide, was bright and very funny; I highly recommend him and this tour company.

Great House was beautiful

I would love to live in that house. The breezes will soothe you. The view is magnificent. The owner of the house never left. She is buried on the property. Awesome visit.

Great House Tour guide absolutely amazing. Life Guards at the falls and pool were very interactive and funfilled.

Overall this is an excellent attraction, Our group did the Estate Pass and i must say we were all treated to a wonderful tour. The great house tour guide was absolutely amazing and very informative and fun. Overall we had a great experience only one dissatisfaction was encountered and that's with the persons who did the challenge course, their approach was a bit much and was unaccommodating for some of my group members.

A must for jamaica stopovers

From the funny bus driver guides, to the stunning estate, beautiful water falls and resort pool I highly suggest this be your falmouth stop over. Once you leave the cruise pier, falmouth area is very concerning and scary. Having this excursion company ready to book us and take us to a historic jamaican paradise was glorious. GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!! Recommend: Bring lots of water- its super humid Try the fresh coconut water Def do the zipline(we missed it, but other guests were raving)
