Wonderful experience

Wonderful experience made all the more special with the informative and enthusiastic commentary from our tour guide Apostolis. You could tell he was passionate about the area and the Monasteries he grew up in! Our driver Dinos was friendly and would take photos for us, and was an exceptional driver considering the steep roads he would navigate. Be prepared for lots of stairs, but the end result is worth it!

Best way to see meteora

The is was a perfect tour for us and four young kids. Best way to see Meteora. We usually DIY our trips but couldn’t imagine having to park ourselves and navigate and do our own research about each place. This was the way to go. They knew several things we didn’t about the best way to visit logistically that would have been a problem had we ventured out on our own. Guide and driver were really kind and knowledgeable. We made it to Vaarlem, St Stephen’s and St Barbara’s. Lots of stopping and getting off for pictures and views which we loved. Learned a ton. Highlight of our trip to Greece.

Great experience!

We had a great tour thru Visit Meteora - there were only 6 of us plus our guide, Katarina and our driver. We had more than enough space in the van to spread out and see the stark and breathtaking landscape from both sides of the van. Katarina was a great guide for our half day trip of three monasteries in Meteora. She was full of compelling stories about the area, the monasteries, had deep knowledge about the history, and local culture and tradition, being a local herself. She also encouraged and answered any questions that we had and this way we got to learn extra bits that were not part of the standard tour. She was clear with how long we had to tour each monastery and the location of meet up points afterwards. Everyone in our group was respectful of this so we incurred no delays as we moved thru our tour. We visited Varlaam, Meteoro, and the nunnery of St Rousanneau and also stopped at many popular vistas along the way for photos. The tour was a great introduction, a bite size guide into the monasteries and just the right amount of history, culture, and local tradition. While Katarina did not accompany us into the sites, she equipped us with plenty knowledge and things to look out for while we self toured each monastery. We felt fortunate for our small group experience in comparison to the many large charter buses that rolled thru with 100s of passengers in their tour. Overall a great experience!

Beautiful views, great guide, great service

The tour was wonderful. We got picked up from our hotel and drove to our location for our hike. Everything went smoothly and the service was top notch. Our guide Iven was awesome and taught us alot along the way. They also give you walking sticks and water if needed. Beautiful views and beautiful monastery we got to see. Highly recommend a guided tour. Much easier to get there and back.

Excellent Guide

Our guide (Apostolis) was excellent; he had all the info about the places, and it was easy to tell that he loved his home area, loved talking about it with others, and he just loved being with people who were genuinely interested in the area.

Best of both world; guide and beingon our own

My friend said this is the best thing we have done in Greece, and we have done some great things. There was a bit of a mix up with the meeting location. I notified the company that where we were staying was difficult to find, so we could meet out front. Plus they moved the meeting time up by fifteen minutes. However they suggested at a hotel about fifteen minutes away by foot. We were late and missed the shuttle. No problem, Visit Meteroa called me and they routed the shuttle right back to us. The shuttle was very comfortable and our driver, Costas, was a wonder driver instilling confidence is us. He gets around in those tiny streets, around bends, maneuvering around other buses and shuttles was an exercise in driving skills that have been honed over the years. Our guide, Kate, was very informative, responded to our questions, was easy to understand. I really appreciated how she would tell us what we were going ot see, what to look for, then allowed us to go at our pace, and spread out. It was the best of both worlds, having a guide and being on one's own. I definitely would recommend Visit Meteora. I only wish the sunset tour was not booked up, as I really wanted to try that one out.

Great hike in Meteora

Such a great experience. The van picked us up from our AirBnB right on time to start our beautiful morning. Kostas was a terrific guide. Knowledgeable and funny. Perfect pace for our small group (3 in our family and two other couples from different countries). An hour on our own in the monastery was perfect. So glad we had a guide and didn’t try to find everything ourselves. Wonderful day.

Perfect way to experience Meteora!!

Amazing Tour!

The tour guide and driver were very nice and professional. Tour guide was very informative and gave us many background information of the monasteries and the places. Driver was a professional photographer too! He helped us to take many good photos! Highly Recommended for this tour. However, if you travel in low seasons, you can book the tour when you arrive instead of booking online in advance, it is much cheaper.

James Bond Monasteries in Meteora

We had a driver and tour guide for this trip. The tour guide is excellent & very knowledgeable about the Meteora Monasteries. Do prepare to do a lot of walking up & down hundreds of steps into the Monasteries. It is so worth it. Highly recommended. Again, Viator should have the tour companies use WhatsApp to confirm pick up time and date a day before tour or for communicate not only thru Viator App communication.

Hike tour with guide Evan. Absolutely fantasstic. Beautifil hike and Evan had so much interesting things to tell.

Not As Described

While both the driver and the attendant were competent and professional, I was deeply disappointed in this excursion. The trip was described as a small group limited to 18 with a guide who would enter the monasteries and provide a guided tour. Neither of these were true. The group exceeded 23 therefore requiring a large bus. The bus attendant was not a qualified guide and therefore could not enter the monasteries to provide advertised information.

Not what i thought I was getting.

This tour was not as advertised. The guide did not go into the Monasteries with us because he wasn't licensed to. He spoke really fast and was hard to follow. The stops were great.

Great way to see Meteora

Our guide was excellent and we visited 3 monasteries with plenty of time allowed for each visit plus photo opportunities at various viewpoints.

Fascinating and beautiful settings to walk around in.

Bus was on time at our hotel for pickup. Tour guide was very friendly. Monasteries are fascinating and set in a beautiful setting. Very pleasant way to be introduced to Meteora.

Awesome experience!!!

Awesome experience!!! Loved the amazing views and seeing the beautiful monasteries. Our guide Billy did a great job sharing information and history of Meteora. The bus was new and comfortable. The group was small so no long wait to get everyone on and off the bus. I was so thankful for our driver Kostos who was able to skillfully navigate through the traffic as there were a lot of visitors and cars on the day of our tour. We visited three monasteries on the 1/2 day tour. FYI…to see the monasteries you have to climb a lot of steps!

A Must Do

We would absolutely recommend this tour. The views were breathtaking. Vasilis was awesome! He was incredibly knowledge and funny, a great guide. He and our driver, who's name I can't remember, were also incredibly helpful with taking good, memorable photos. One thing to note is Vasilis and the driver did not enter the monasteries. So if you're looking for a detailed history lesson on the monasteries' interiors and art, a private tour maybe better. However Vasilis did give a wealth of information before entering and pointed out things to look for in the monasteries. We were very happy with tour and would recommend.

An experience that will never be forgotten

The tour was very good we both enjoyed it very much. The monasteries were amazing and we had our own time to explore. Our guide Vasili was knowledgeable and a thorough understanding of the area and how the monasteries of this region came to be. I would highly recommend this tour I would do it again.

Really enjoyed visiting 4...

Really enjoyed visiting 4 monasteries. Although they may seem similar, each one is slightly different and has a different but equally stunning view. My only complaint is that 9 of the 13 on our tour had done the sunset tour the day before, and we repeated a monastery - I wish we could have skipped that and seen or done something different.

What a great tour, Katarina is an amazing tour guide, we follow her recommendation on a restaurant to go to and is the best meal we have had so far. The driver is also amazing, very careful driver, no rush and very friendly.

Great Help For Those Wanting To Visit The Monasteries

The tour was great. Pickup was easy, and on time, and the journey to the monasteries was full of interesting information, history, and fun facts about the monasteries. At the monasteries, we were given enough time to explore the 3 monasteries we entered. We also stopped at quite a few great spots to take pictures of the monasteries we didn't enter. The driver was great, as was the tour guide. Would recommend!

Meteora half day tour. WOW!

The half day tour was exceptional. We visited 6 of the six monasteries and went inside of three. The tour was informative and very well organised. Ample time was provided to visit the inside of the monasteries at our leisure. The guide (Apostolos) and driver (George) were helpful and as previously stated very informative regarding their knowledge of the monasteries and their history. Thank you. Excellent tour of Meteora

Brilliant half day Meteora tour experience with Visit Meteora. Our guide Tolis had in depth knowledge of the history of Meteora and the monasteries, and our driver Vangelis made the driving experience very smooth. I can't recommend Visit Meteora highly enough!

Enjoyed hearing about Meteora’s history and getting to see quite a few of the monasteries. The views from afar were amazing and being able to go inside was appreciated. Our guide and driver both did a great job!

Superb touring experience of Meteora

Excellent tours with knowledgeable n personable guides as well as first rate drivers negotiating the narrow n steep roads. Very well organised n great communication pre trip. Also buses very comfortable. Enjoyed learning more about the regions fascinating history, geography n the importance of the orthodox religion to the Greek people. Enjoyed three tours n exploring the different monasteries n hearing different aspects from each guide n driver.

This was the best morning Meteora tour I could have imagined! Our driver and tour guide were both exceptional, friendly, and knowledgeable. We were able to go into three monasteries and saw the others from amazing vantage points. The best!!

Definitely worth it

Highly recommend this 4 hour tour - perfect amount of time to visit inside 3 monasteries and see the outside of the other 3 monasteries. We never felt rushed and there were also many stops along the way for the perfect photo opportunities. Even though we had a car we felt that this guided tour was the best way to learn about the history of Meteora.

Incredible tour in monasteries.

Wonderful tour. Unique area with fantastic views and incredible history. Vaggelis is a guid that we would recommend - he grew up in Kalambaka and knows all about it. We visited 3 monasteries and stopped a few times for a breathtaking panoramic views to take photos. All took a few hours, we started at 9 and finished around 13.00 Excellent!

Breathtaking views and an excellent tour guide. A perfect taste of Meteora, but only left us wanting more! Weather in December was pleasant, around 55/60 F.

Amazing Guided tour is a must

Knowledgeable English speaking guide made our tour easy and informative. Highly recommended if you want to know history, you can ask questions and guide takes lots of photos of all travelers in their phones. Half day tour is from 9 am to 1 pm, with pick up and drop off. He provide one to one time for questions and answers as well.

We enjoyed our tour very much! We booked the tour directly with Visit Meteora Travel. They have a slight discount for couples compared to two single tickets. We were picked up promptly at our hotel in a new and comfortable van, which was air conditioned- a big bonus! Our driver was very professional and skilled. Our tour guide, Katarina, was charming and very engaging. She filled the day with interesting facts about the monasteries that we visited, and she told us about the Greek Orthodox religion. She even picked some herbs and told us stories about foraging for herbs with her grandmother. We had a wonderful day and we learned a lot. Highly recommend this tour!

Amazing Meteora

It was a fantastic tour, they took us to the best sights and the guide was a must. He was great explaining stories about the area.

Unforgettable experience seeing the monasteries high up on cliffs

We were so glad that we booked this tour in Meteora. The monasteries were breathtakingly beautiful and our guide was great and knew where to take the best photos. We were a little nervous about how difficult the walk would be to climb up but it was not difficult at all.

Meteora tour with hotel pickup - highly recommend!

Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Meteora to see the monasteries! This half day tour is from 9am to 1pm, including hotel pickup and drop off from anywhere in Kastriki or Kalabaka. They transport you in a small mini-bus / van, with 2 people from the company - a tour guide and a skilled bus driver (to navigate the mountain roads.) Our tour guide, Jim, was great - so enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and friendly. He gave tons of background information before each monastery visit (we visited 3 total.) He gave us plenty of time to take pictures and even stopped the bus a few times to pull over for picture time at certain viewpoints. We had on average 45 minutes at each monastery which was plenty of time to explore on our own. The bus provided bottled water as well which was a nice touch after all of the walking! The only thing that we wish is that we would have had time to book other tours with them! They offer a sunset tour (3 to 8pm) and a hiking tour that sounded amazing.
