Amazing Ocean Road Trip in Reverse!!

WOW! This trip was amazing. We were in Melbourne for a week, no car, decided to reserve this trip a month ago and glad we did. Richard, our Tour Guide and Driver was fabulous. We made multiple stops, saw many wonderful sights and were able to really get a feel for the area. Richard gave us a lot of history and knew the answers to our questions. He made sure we were comfortable and was considerate of our needs. Any questions we had prior to the trip were answered promptly. Richard, thank you so much!

Terrific guide for our private tour

Our tour was just a private tour, not necessarily the Great Ocean Road, as it was just three of us, and one of us had done the Great Ocean Road the day before. So our guide, Richard, had to concoct something different for us, and wow - he pulled through in a big way. We had a booking at Maru Koala, so that was our first stop, though he had a few Melbourne sights to show us first. Then the rest of the day, he had to figure out! He took us to a local coop for fish and chips (one that is frequented by the locals rather than buses and tourists), and while there, he showed us where the sting rays swim - large 4 to 5 foot stingrays! Then he took us various places where we saw beautiful scenery, many kangaroos and wallabies, echidna, and even a little penguin (the star of the day). Richard was a superb guide - he even tailored his music to our taste! We would request him again, if we were to be in the area.

A Great Day Touring the Great Ocean Road!

Our day with Richard was wonderful. He was friendly, informative, and was also a good driver. He showed us some areas of the Great Ocean Road that many people don’t see, and the lunch recommendations were spot on. Long day, but worth every minute!

Richard did a great job driving us on a very long but enjoyable day! He pulled into great spots for fabulous views with limited crowds, and provided us with interesting commentary on the Great Ocean Road and the communities along the way. Our stop at the Fishermen's cooperative for lunch was well timed to avoid any crowds and delicious! On our return home, he made sure we spotted kangaroos and flocks of cockatoos! We would definitely recommend using Bilby for a private tour.

Worth it!

We had a wonderful private tour with our very friendly and experienced guide Paul. He constantly asked what we wanted to do so our trip was optimal. Paul was also a very safe driver during the long trip. I highly recommend!

Amazing day!

What an incredible day with Mark! He was on-time, cheerful, intelligent and knowledgeable! We had the most amazing day - koalas, kangaroos, carnivorous snails! And then the majestic scenery all along the Great Ocean Road... and the 12 Apostils were stunning!! It was one of the best private tours ever - highly recommended!

It is a Great Ocean and Wildlife Road

We took the Great Ocean Road private tour with Bilby Travel on May 31, 2023. The first thing we told Richard, our driver/tour guide, was that we are interested in wildlife. They are our number one priority. Richard did a great job focusing on the sights and experiences that were of most interest to our family. We spent more time than we expected searching the bush by driving and walking than we expected. It was exactly what we wanted. And at the same time, we were able to enjoy all the wonderful sights along the way. The additional cost for the tour being private was not as much as one might expect and it was worth it to be able to enjoy the time on the things that we enjoy the most. Be sure to check out the price on their website.

Private tour on great ocean road

Our driver has extensive knowledge on the history behind the scenery of this trip, he has made great effort trying to find the koala and kangaroo along the way, in top of that the vehicle is spacious and clean and we have a wonderful time

Trip was a must. Not sure I would use this company though.

The views were great, it’s definitely a must do trip. I just expected more given it was a private tour we paid for. Driver was just ok, gave us some small pieces of info here and there but not really much overall. Also felt really rushed to see it all before it got dark. The road was shut down until 2:30 so we had to start at the end and work back. Took several hours of seeing nothin g to do that. They should have told us when we booked that was going to be the case and we could have planned differently. Overall I recommend the trip just probably not this company.

We were a group of Canadians who were attending a wedding in Wye Riiver and Matt arranged a custom trip for us where we started at the end of the tour and worked our way back and were dropped at the wedding destination! It was great! Matt was an excellent driver/guide and kept us informed and entertained the whole way! Would highly recommend him and his tour!

Thank you Max for a lovely private experience for our family of 9, catering to 2 pick-up locations at no additional charge. Van was clean and spacious, and he shared interesting nuggets of information beyond that of the locations we went to. Highly recommend for those not wanting to follow large tour groups.

Birthday trip to Melbourne

Superb journey with beautiful ocean scenary along the journey. It was very hot day but the colour of the ocean was so clear and beautiful from green, turquoise and blue.

FREE & EASY

Leave Melbourne @ 08:00 and it's free & easy to visit most interesting place along Great Ocean Road. Even there is an accident delaying but the driver is so patient to make our journey worth it. My family really enjoy this trip without hiring own transport.

Fantastic day at Great ocean road

I booked a private tour for my extended family of 8 adults with pick up from suburbs . Max's email response is fast and price is reasonable which led to us choosing him in the end. Richard is our driver for the tour day and he is punctual and patient with my elderly kins. The trip is tiring but he makes stops for us to enjoy comfortably. Also special thanks for stopping by for dinner pickup at macdonald even when we are running slightly late coming back home.

A Perfect Day

My family--2 adults and 4 teens took the private Great Ocean Road Tour. The guide let us decide how long to spend at each stop and how active we wanted to be. There were opportunities to go down to the beach or just enjoy views from the top. Sometimes we did a quick look and at other stops the kids explored more. We enjoyed fish and chips at Apollo's Bay. On the way home we asked the guide to help us find a place to get a quick dinner which wasn't part of the tour and he found a place on the route with lots of options that pleased the whole family.

A beautiful trip made perfect by Michael!

My parents and uncle aunty were on a 10 day New Zealand tour in the mid of November. As they had an early morning flight back to india on the 19th November we decided to book them back to Melbourne on the 17th instead of 18th, keeping a safeguard of one day just incase their flight from Queenstown to Melbourne had any issues. That gave them a whole day in Melbourne and so we decided to book them on the Great Ocean Road trip. They were staying at the Marriott and the concierge suggested that we book the coach tour for them. After speaking to a couple of coach operators, I felt that this trip would not do justice with 40-60 fellow travellers. A quick search online got me to Bilbytravel website and the promising reviews looked good. A quick chat with Max reassured me that i could trust my parents with them, and I'm glad I did. Confirmations, bookings all very smooth. Max was very prompt and helpful. Michael reached on time and made the 12 hour trip for my family one of their most memorable ones. They are avid travellers and could not stop raving about the service provided. Its been two days since their trip and they have messaged me 4 times that I should make sure that I leave a review for Michael. He went out of the way to show them extra bits, was prompt with the first aid kit when my dad was goofing around and fell down and hurt himself. Overall they had an excellent trip. Thank you Max and Michael for making their trip more memorable and making it easier for me to plan their trip from London.

Beautiful day on the Great Ocean Road

My family and I went on a day trip to the Great Ocean Road, and Daniela was our guide. She was so friendly and entertaining, and was able to share plenty of information about the sights, as well as great stories. She truly made the experience lively and fun throughout the long drive.

Richard did an amazing job!

Travelling in Melbourne in the winter is not without risk. We decided to take the plunge and spend a day travelling the Great Ocean Road. Richard was our guide / driver and did an outstanding job! The day surpassed our expectations. Despite the variable weather, we witnessed the coast line at its best, largely due to Richard’s expertise and navigation. A long but very worthwhile day. Highly recommended.

Spectacular Trip Made Better By A Professional and Fun Guide

We recently completed a private tour of the Great Ocean Road given by Max. Max met us at the cruise terminal dock on time at 6:30 am to begin our drive out of Melbourne before morning traffic. Max, being an experienced guide did the tour "backwards" to avoid tour busses taking the conventional route. This tactic saved time and avoided tour buses with their hordes of people. This alone was worth the investment. The tour itself was wonderful. Max has encyclopedic knowledge of the Great Ocean Road and explained the sites to whatever detail we wished. He was engaging and had a sense of humor. There are too many spectacular sites to mention along the Great Ocean Road the Bilby brochure covers them all. Being a private tour Max will customize the stops, including lunch and bio breaks to the clients desires. Do not hesitate to ask. I cannot more highly recommend the Bilby Great Ocean Road Private tour. Skip the expensive ships tour and contact Max. He will be happy to serve you. Finally, thanks to Max for finding my wife's Fit Bit in the back of the car and mailing it back to her. That's great service. Recommendation -- do not hesitate to go !

<p>We are lucky to have Micheal as our guide, he is a very good driver, know the Great Ocean Road in and out, stop at all the spectacular view points all throughout our 12 hrs trip. He is a Russian Immigrant who spoke perfect English , highly educated, like to write poem and compose song , he had his own CD in Russian, and share with us all along the trip. Overall its a wonderful trip highly recommended. Will post a photo of him with my wife Grace underneath.</p>

12 Apostles Tour

Had a great experience during the Twelve Apostles Tour with Bilby Travel, thanks to very friendly attitude of Max, his knowledge of the area and also the flexibility in his approach. The scenery was spectacular most of the way and the luxurious SUV made the trip super comfortable too. We enjoyed it so much that we took another tour with Max-The wineries tour in the Yarra Valley, a couple of days later which turned to be an excellent experience as well.

I wish to comment on our tour guide cum driver Mr Neil Allan professionalism service. He is friendly and helpful while attending to our families during our trip in Melbourne from 6 September to 11 September. He is a safe and cautious driver most of the time he gave clear explanation and detailed information about the trip and places of interest. Our 11paxs families are extremely happy & satisfied with the itinerary draft by Mr Max. We wish we could have more days and time to go around as this trip consider rather rushed. Neil Allan is extremely attentive and formed a good bond with us. He worked above and beyond any requirements and extra miles.
