Stunning interpretive tour of globally famous Melbourne street art.

As a street art fan and photographer already very familiar with Melbourne street art this tour was beyond my expectations. It was like having access to the inner sanctum as our artist guide Matt interpreted the works, backgrounded the artists, explained processes, talked street art politics and discussed the nature of art. We were treated to a prime selection of CBD street art, from tiny intricate stencil works to monumental murals. A tram ride blew away some of our international tourists. The tour finishes at home base at Blender Studios with warm hospitality and the opportunity to meet artists and see their work spaces. I can't recommend this tour highly enough.

Our guide, Tom, was so enthusiastic about the street art. We learned so much and saw great street art examples. Great thing to do while visiting Melbourne!

Great tour!

Great street art tour! Our guide was barek whose firsthand knowledge was great and brought a lot of background and insight to complement the art he was showing us. Really enjoyed how the tour ended as well, where we got to see the Blender Studios and the art and artists there as well. Highly recommend this tour if you're a fan of street art.

A fascinating insight

It is easy to have a closed mind where street art is concerned. We went with an opened mind and enjoyed a fascinating insight into 'street art' conducted by an experienced and very informative artist, himself a street artist. We thoroughly enjoyed the few hours we spent wandering Melbourne's lanes and alleys, culminating in the tour of Blender Studios and the opportunity to see close up the artists' work and to engage with them. Thoroughly recommended, just go with an open mind.

Fantastic tour, highly recommend.

Awesome tour through many laneways in Melbourne, some popular with tourists and others a little more off the beaten track. Our guide, Ben, knew everything about the artists and pointed out some really amazing small pieces that you otherwise would have missed. Ending at the studio was great, getting a glimpse behind the scenes. If you're visiting Melbourne, I highly recommend this.

The best Street Art Tour ever

It was an incredible walk learning about all about street art and know the artists who are active, seeing all the most secret spots. Ending with a talk in the studio of those artists was the best way to conclude this tour trip. I highly recommend it.

Dive into Melbourne art scene!

Such a great tour! I loved this experience because not only did the guide give us a ton of information and context for Melbourne's street art and street artists, we also got to experience a vibrant art collective, too. The hospitality and community were really charming and beyond any other walking tour I've been one. One word of caution: the tour ends some distance from the CBD (I had to take a tram back to the starting place).

Small group tour led by an artist from Blender Studio. Each tour is different, reflecting the personality, taste and artistic interests of that specific artist/guide. Makes you see things you would never notice or understand. Eye opening and fascinating. Gives you new found respect for street artists. I would do this tour again any time I’m in Melbourne.

Fabulous lesson in Melbourne street art scene!

Our guide was knowledgeable, passionate and had us thoroughly interested in the Melbourne street art. Pointing things out we’d have never discovered ourselves . Really interesting seeing the studios that many of the artists work from and meeting some of the artists.

Street art tour - fabulous!

What a fabulous tour!!! We booked this on recommendation but we weren’t sure if it was for us but how fascinating it turned out to be!! Selbo (apologies if I’ve spelt that wrong) brought the art alive for us and explained the street art rules and etiquette so that we went away with a whole new understanding of this world. The nibbles and drinks back at the workshop went down really well too!!

Great street art experience.

Very interesting street art walk in central Melbourne with a most knowledgeable guide, Salvo. The real value is understanding the various artists enroute and the relationship between the artists and the taggers. Down some lanes and alleyways where one would never usually venture. Big range of the types of street art all explained by our very chatty guide. Ended up at Blender Studios where artists have their own space and were working. A great experience and well worth the 3 hour duration.

Great cultural experience

A great way to view the art, get to know the stories & culture about the medium & the world of street art. Our guide Ben looked after us & imparted a lot of information, pointed out certain works, gave history on the artists also helped us negotiate streets & tram. We saw & went to streets & areas we probably wouldn't have seen or viewed if on our own even with a map. I especially liked visiting Blender studios which included a nice afternoon tea with lots of beverages & treats to eat.

Informative and Fun

This tour was way more informative than I imagined it would be and I found it very interesting. Having the tour run by the local artists themselves gives you more insight as well. Going to the studio afterwards was also cool, and having a snack and drink offered when we got there was delightfully unexpected!

Fascinating, Fun, and Educational

Our tour guide Ben was terrific! The tour was an education in both Street Art and Street Art culture. We learned about different styles and techniques and saw some fabulous art. It’s amazing what treasures are hidden in plain sight.

Definitely worth going

I absolutely loved our tour guide. He was experienced in tagging and street art himself and I would highly recommend this tour to family and friends. It was very informative and I loved that they hired staff who are experienced in the area and knowledgeable about other artists work.

Colorful Informative Art Tour

We had so much fun and learned a lot. Our guide (@thesalvoproject) was passionate about the art, explained tons of interesting history, vocabulary, and trivia, and handled a tram delay without shorting our tour. The return to the studio and viewing local art/artists was a rare experience. We saw places and learned things we could never have accomplished on our own.

Informative, creative, nicely paced

I've always been curious about the street art scenario in Melbourne CBD, and the walk organized by Blender Studios was a great occasion to explore the inner city streets. Our tour guide brought us to see some fascinating art pieces hidden amongst other artworks. It was a nicely paced walk with interesting background stories about the artists and the city. A great way to enjoy the city!

Highly recommend the Melbourne Street Art Tour

I've done lane walk before in Melbourne but this street art tour was very different. Our guide was Ben, he was great. He is an artist and a street artist. He provided many insights into street art and it was a real educational experience. I would highly recommend doing a Melbourne Street Art Tour.

Wonderful and interesting

This was a great walk. the tour was taken By a street artist and he gave great insight into the different forms of street art and the preparation involved before putting the work up. He knew Melbourne well and walked us around with ease. It was great to finish in a working studio and see and meet the artists

Fabulous experience seeing all the street art around Melbourne city. The best part is that the tour is run by one of the street artist who have such inside knowledge on all the art and explains how and why the art changes all the time.( We even got to see two Banksy ) We ended up back at the Blender studios to check out their work space and art. Highly recommend , a great walk also Ben was fabulous very passionate about street art.

One of the best tours of all time. We were taken through the alleys of Melbourne with a street artists who is also part of a studio collective, and he taught us how to spot great street art versus imitators and wanna-he’s. He was very knowledgeable, engaging, and easy to chat to—and we saw a hidden Banksy! Learned about the history of street art, its relationship to the commercial world, and the cultural codes of street artists—i.e., when it’s ok to tag on someone’s art or erase it, when it is not, and also learned about the broad variety of street art (it’s not just spray paint, paint and markers, which I didn’t know). We finished the tour in the studio, meeting other artists while enjoying some wine and cheese! HIGHLY recommend!

Best tour in town.

This tour is really worth it. I learned so much on Melbourne and street art. Highly recommended. Very friendly tour guide (an artist himself) and very accommodating organiser who went out of her way to make sure I got on a tour (even if I was the only one in the group!). Great to visit the studios afterwards.

Worth it!

This was a great way of seeing Melbourne through the eyes of the street artists who adjourn the alleyways with free art for people to enjoy. We had a really lovely afternoon, our tour guide was great and had tonnes of anecdotes and insightful knowledge. Definitely recommend ☀️ thank you to the team!

A real insight into street art culture

The street art we saw was great, but even more enjoyable was the insight and funny stories the guide gave us where the art comes from, how to interpret it and the community that creates it. It really made me see it in a different way!

This is the only tour to do if you want to understand and see street art because the tours are given by street artists themselves. Excellent tour. Highly recommend!

Ben was great! It was an enjoyable afternoon walking the famous laneways of Melbourne, understanding the ever changing art and context which covers is displayed wall in the most unexpected of places. Highly recommend, if you’re a local or a tourist to learn more about the city and the culture of street art.

I will never look at Street Art the same way again, in Melbourne or any city I visit. Our guide was a member of the street artist culture and his perspective was invaluable. An excellent tour. I highly recommend it. It ends with a visit to a creative space in Melbourne for artists. Interesting, fabulous.

Our guide was friendly, relaxed, professional, a practising and knowlegable street artist. Using the context of the wonderful lanes and alleys he guided us through, he explained the rules and challenges, styles and refinements, legalities and historical development of street art. He knows and names his street artist peers, helping us appreciate the range of styles and challenges these talented people work with. A tour of the collective studio at the end was a treat, showing the art on public walls is the fruit of experimentation and critical thinking by dedicated artists. Beautiful Street Art

We did a tour with Cesar, an artist to give us a lot of insight and knowledge about street art and the vernacular art scene. he was an excellent tour guide.!!!!!!

Only go if you are REALLY into street art… 3 hours is a long time

Maybe this isn’t fair, but it wasn’t my spouse’s choice to go on this tour and not mine. I was worried about the 3 hour length. Well, I was right. Unless you are really obsessed with street art, about 45 min of the tour is interesting. The rest gets real boring (“My friend put this sticker up”). As well, I found it frustrating as the tour leader just talks in a normal voice, no projection at all, so unless you are standing right beside him it’s really difficult to hear anything at all. This tour would be much improved by being 1 hour or maybe 90 min max long. I do like some of the street art but some of it is just ugly bad graffiti. Honestly, I was mentally checked out the minute I asked the tour guide what he thought of rampant tagging of everything (this happens in my home city) and his opinion was that “it was cool”. Then I really regretted giving this tour my money and wished I pushed my spouse for a food tour instead.

Excellent tour

Excellent tour. Ben was superb. He knew many of the artists and would add interesting information about the artist and his/her style. He also provided great insight into the local street art scene. We also enjoyed seeing the studio, artists work areas and the appetisers and wine. What a nice way to finish the tour.
