Melbourne Snow Trip to Lake Mountain with Chocolates visit to a Waterfall

Not too bad with some disappointments

The waterfall was nice, and the ice cream at chocolate factory was yummy 😋 We are also thankful for our guide (was it John? Sorry couldn't quite remember 😅) who was friendly and humourous. He gave clear instructions and good recommendations too! Unfortunately, there was already no snow at the lake mountain, thus, the hours there became long and dreary. And it was disappointing because we thought that would have been the highlight of the day tour.

Amazing driver but unfortunately very little snow.

Snow Day

Really fun trip! Sean was an amazing tour guide, sharing historic and cultural information in a very fun and entertaining way. He is also very approachable and friendly and would definitely wish to have him as our guide the next time we book

Super fun snow day

We travelled from Queensland to give our littlest niece a snow day as she's been obsessed with snow and never seen it. Until now. The tour was perfectly paced, the driver was informative and friendly and shared his local knowledge. Our stops at Beechworth, Stevens Falls and the Yarra Valley Chocolate Factory were really interesting, but of course the main event was the snow experience at Lake Mountain. This was absolutely sensational, well priced and the best fun. All up we had three hours on the mountain which was the perfect around of time to toboggan, build a snowman and marvel at the winter wonderland. We were also fortunate to arrive while it was snowing, to complete the winter experience. We absolutely loved it and while it was a big day, it was absolutely worth it.

Great experience

This trip is a good for those who don’t know where to go. The trip was great. You got around 30 mins to spend at the cafe to get the breakfast. The road along the way to the lake mountains was amazing with nice view. Lake mountains was great and fun. Steavenson Falls was beautiful but we only have 15-20 mins to spend there. Visiting Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery was good, a lot of good chocolates choices to choose and the view surrounding was amazing. I would recommend it for anyone who unsure about where to go and not confident to drive around. Overall I enjoyed and having a good time with the trip.

Yeah it snowed!

I wanted to see the snow. Strong winds closed activities, like snow-shoeing. Then it snowed for a couple of hours….happy! Our driver, Chris, was great. An asset

All in one stop

We had a wonderful time , love the snow , love waterfall stop and the chocolate shop . The bus driver was funny and very organised.

Not real snow

The trip wasn't good for us as we wanted to enjoy real snow. The Waterfall and chocolate shop was rushed. Depending on the schedule, the time at lake mountain can be adjusted to enjoy a hot drink at the chocolate shop. Thanks for Dandy trying to keep the journey alive.

Comfortable coach & fun activity

The coach was very comfortable and on time. We really had a great time even there's no snow the day we went up there (it's a faux snow at Lake Mountain). It was still very fun day. We only got around 30 mins at the waterfall and chocolate shop which is pretty short so it's a bit rush.

I did not like the ski...

I did not like the ski centre as it was too crowded, no table to sit and eat, no coffee machine. I liked the self service, just grab a food and pay

the guide, jane 'dog', was very funny and patient. the driver drove in a safe and comfortable manner so we enjoyed the trip and plan to go again next time

Transport service, not a tour. Not worth the money at all.

This tour was booked for the mentioned itinerary which consisted of 3 parts - Lake Mountain, Chocolate and Waterfall visit. However, only 1/3 of the itinerary was fulfilled. The bus departed on time at our pickup point and we were suggested to head straight to Lake Mountain instead of stopping by Stevenson waterfalls first because it was raining. Hence, we were taken to Lake Mountain to enjoy the snow fun for 3 hours. Everyone on board returned at the time given to us but the bus departed late. We were driven to Stevenson waterfall and as we were about to reach, we were told that we will not be able to make it for the chocolate visit because they are about to close. We were then brought to the waterfall and given 20 mins there. Thereafter, we headed back to the city. This is clearly not a well planned out tour as they should have designated time for each location and bring us to the locations promised. We basically paid for transport and nothing else.

Dream trip for my filipino wife & son

Taking someone from a country that has no snow is obviously a memorable occasion & seeing their smiles - made my day Good service & a great day :)

Great trip to snow

It was a well organised trip. Great and very helpful guide person. Safe bus drive. Overall value for money.

Not worth it

Bus came late. Was only given 10 mins @ Steveson lake. We did not see the waterfall as it takes abt 15 mins to walk to the waterfall. A very rush itinerary. Is like a touch and go.

Fantastic

Shane was an excellent guide. We had a dump of snow while we are at the mountains which was the experience we are chasing. The Yarra Valley chocolate factory was tooo good to miss!

Walking trail to the...

Walking trail to the summit, Stevenson Falls was great, my opnion is that time at the Lake Montain should be decreased by 45 mins and extra allowed at the falls and the choclate factory. Those felt rushed. Shaun was great, loved his sense of humour and enjoyed his commentary.

Excellent trip to cover Snow, waterfall and chocolates.

Had an excellent trip which covers snow, waterfall and Chocolate tasting. Enjoyed a lot doing Toboggan, Walk on the waterfall area and tasting /buying chocolates (with huge varieties available).

Great day trip from Melbourne!

Fantastic day trip from Melbourne. Our guide Maj was friendly, informative and ensured we had a great day! Stevenson's falls definitely the highlight for me and a must see!

Overall experience was good, smooth and on time, driver/coach was friendly and did lots of introduction and explanation during the whole journey, thumbs up!

Awesome snow experience

Awesome day in the snow with some tobogganing and a trail walk to the summit. Campbell our guide was awesome and funny , feeding us little snippets about Melbourne. Overall an awesome experience.

Lake Mountain

Very enjoyable day out. Our tour guide Craig was very friendly and knowledgeable. Steavenson Falls at Marysville was majestic. Had a great walk in the snow to The Summit at Lake Mountain. Would recommend this trip for people wanting to experience the snow - particularly families with young children who want to go tobogganing. Only downside was the food selection at the kiosk, but our driver did warn us about this and suggested picking up some lunch in Heelsville along the way.

There were several roadblocks around on the way back to city & our driver managed to continue to re-navigate us back home despite the difficulties.

Great, well organized...

Great, well organized tour. Maj was very informative about the spots we visited. Wish we had a bit more time to hang around the chocolatery but they close at 5 (no fault of the tour :))

Loved it!

Great family trip - enough time to have fun in the snow (we hired toboggans & snow boots), stops for food, maybe needed more time at the chocolate factory! Interesting commentary from the coach driver. Safe & easy way to have a day trip to the snow.

Lake mountain fun

Great experience. Lovely tour guides, very knowledgeable about the surrounds. Lake mountain was fun for first time snow seekers and the addition of the water fall and chocolatier made it a very enjoyable day!

Awesome day trip

The day started with a convenient and on-time pickup. Our Tour guide Tim then shared much knowledge regarding Melbourne and stories along the way. The driving along the way was smooth and careful. Tips regarding time spent at the snow were useful and information and stories flowed on the way back. Thank you for a great day!

Very happy.

Good tour guide, made the day enjoyable for everyone Couldn’t give 5 stars as tour overran by 2 hours, mostly due to the snow! Snow chains had to be put on and taken off the bus, took time.. didn’t really affect us but did affect some others so just needs the times tweaking… very happy overall and would recommend this to people wanting a taste of the snow.

Exceeded Expectation

We booked this tour to have the experience of seeing snow while letting someone else work out the details and logistics, and that's exactly what we got. We had a great well planned day that exceeded expectation. The shuttle was on time and moved swiftly and safely. We had an added bonus of stopping at a beautiful bakery to grab food, snacks and coffee. The tour delivered exactly what it said plus more. The driver was fun, friendly and knowledgeable. The Lake Mountain Alpine Resort offers a nice introduction to snow, great for first timers but there isn't a lot of play area, especially when natural snowfall is low. The tobogganing was a lot of fun and adds another element to the day. The falls and chocolaterie stops, break up the drive and really add to the overall experience. The chocolaterie is big with plenty to see, eat or buy. This is a great inclusion and an excellent place to shop for gifts if on holiday. Very happy customers.

Nice and friendly driver and guide

Enjoy the trip, Troy is a nice and friendly driver and guide. Shouldn't come to lake mountain during school holidays, the place is so crowded with children.

Amazing Snowy, chocolatey day

We enjoyed snow for the first time in life. The tour was amazing with a crisp time schedule, pleasant drive and very relevant commentary about all locations. Memorable one.

Amazing experience!! I went with some friends and it was beautiful. We saw snow for the first time in our lives. I'll never forget this moment.

An amazing day

It was amazing, was my first time and I love it. We had enough time to do everything that we want to. Peter, the driver, is very nice and he explained about the places that we were going through which I like.

Sun, snow and hot chocolate, a perfect day.

The whole trip was great, the best part was my daughter seeing snow for the first time. Lake Mountain laid on the sun and snow, a perfect day and the waterfall was magnificent. The day was capped off with a delicious cup of hot chocolate. The experience was relaxed and enjoyable and our guide Peter was great, friendly and knowledgeable.

Snowy day

Before I come to Australia I hed no idea that there was snow in some places, so it was surprising for me, but in the good way :) That's why I decided to join Wildlife tours on this tour! And I spent a lovely day by doing snowmans, visited the chocolate factory and seeing the waterfall :) I recommand !

Best trip to the winter wonderland!

It was an amazing experience travelling with Tim. He was very organized and also played some amazing music along the drive. Everything was exceptionally well but for no Wi-Fi on board. Other than that it was an awesome experience.

Not a good trip

We were rushed around and always left each place in hurry. Driver Tim told us to get back to bus at certain time but would get angry when we didn't get back early then when he said. Not much snow and very busy park. We got no free hot chocolate and the chocolate factory was too busy. Too much rushing and not enough time to enjoy sights. The place was very beautiful and the drive was nice to see.

Raining in winter so soft snow...

It was just too bad that the day I chose to visit, which was early winter, was a rainy day. So our tour guide, Lewis, altered the itinerary for us to go to the waterfall first. Unfortunately, the rain still had not abated when we got there. In fact, there was strong wind & the rain got heavier. Hey we flew all the way from Singapore! Come on, rain! Nah, it did not hear me. Woo woo woo~ went the wind. "Aargh" went me as I tried to maintain my balance standing on top of the soft snow at the top of the toboggan run. The snow was slushy & sloshy & it kind of reminded me of a melted milkshake. Just don't taste it. When I frantically sled all the way to the bottom, muddy water greeted me & made my boots & socks wet. Thanks rain! I only managed to go on it 2 times before Lewis said the park was closing for safety reason & we all had to leave. Aargh... And that is 1 hour before we were supposed to leave the park. Sighs...

Amazing day in the snow.

This day trip to Lake Mountain was one of the best tours we have experienced. Our tour operator (Lewis/ Louis) did a fantastic job of guiding us through the day. We were very lucky to experience an afternoon of falling snow and the scenery was breath-taking. Our driver was very calm, and showed great experience when driving home in icy conditions, I felt comfortable that he had it under control. Fantastic day, loved every minute and my husband and I agreed that our guide was one of the most competent, friendly young men we had ever met. He really made the day enjoyable and stress free. I would do this tour again in a heart - beat!. Thank you so very much for a great day.

My snow trip

The tour was ok. The trip covered all things listed. However, we had to pay all things on the tour: breakfast, lunch, snow play,.... . In addition, no wifi on the bus. Not very funny.
