Great Ocean Road and 12 Apostles Day Trip from Melbourne

Great Ocean Road great, driver/guide did a poor job

The Great Ocean Road is really a Place to visit. I would however recommend the reverse tour, because then you see the 12 Apostles in the morning with better light. Unfortunately, the driver wasn't much of a pleasure. He hardly spoke to us and even nearly lost an Italian Couple because he only briefly announced the time slots we had at different stopping points in English, though knowing that they did not understand a word. Moreover, he did not give us any information about the places we visited.

Great coastal road tour

An amazing day! My first time in Melbourne and Australia ( from uk). The whole day was perfect with beautiful scenery and I learnt so much - especially the history of the road. Great lunch stop and walk through rainforest. Crowning glory of the 12 apostles. My special thanks to Craig and Barry for their help and excellent information at every point of the tour. Beautiful scenery, worth the long day

Our Guide/Driver Peter was great. Beautiful area / scenery . The bus seats were cramped and not very comfortable for a 12 hour tour. The WiFi did not work at all and only a USB port for charging. Overall a good tour and would recommend. Several people chronically late returning to the bus at every stop which decreased our time at the next stop.

It was an amazing trip with my family. The great ocean road and 12 apostles tour is really a breathtaking. Also, to our tour guide/ driver (James) all I can say is THE BEST!! 👍👍

12 apostles had 35 mins out of a 13 hour tour - too much time at National Park for lunch could have used the time better

Steve was great!

The entire experience was fantastic! Steve, our tour guide was awesome! The meeting place was easy to find, we left on the tour on time! We got back at a reasonable hour! And our tour guide Steve gave us just the exact amount of time needed at each location. Steve was also a very safe driver. Please make sure to tell Steve thank you very much.

Fun and knowledgeable guide, great tour

With only one day planned for sightseeing outside of Melbourne, we were unsure which day trip to choose. We absolutely LOVED the day trip to 12 Apostles with Steve and would highly recommend it. Steve was a fun, engaging, and knowledgeable tour guide. The bus was new and comfortable, and we had plenty of time for all sights. We mentioned to Steve that we hadn't seen kangas or koalas and Steve made slight adjustments to the time schedule to allow some stops at places where native wildlife would be found. We were glad for the the slightly shorter day (11-12hrs) compared to other tours that were 13+ because we had an early international flight the next day. For folks travelling on a Sunday, you may want to bring snack bars, because some spots had only 1 open cafe for food and the lines could be quite long due to other tour buses and travellers. This is not the fault of the tour company-- this would happen with any.

A wonderful day out seeing natures beauty

Comfortable tour bus and professional tour guide/ bus driver that knows his job well. I enjoyed seeing The Great Ocean Road and all the natural beauty in the part of Victoria. It was a long day but well worth it. I highly recommend.

Beautiful view of ocean coast and apostles

The view of the ocean shores on the way and the 12 apostles were spectacular. The lunch stop at Lorne was great with an opportunity to see the awesome beach.

Amazing day

This was an amazing tour. Great value for the cost. We had 8 stops and each one was perfectly chosen. Timing was bang on. Our coach bus was clean and comfortable. Our driver/guide (Peter) made the trip. He was kind, patient, funny and super informative! We couldn’t have asked for a better day!

Worth it

It was a great tour, we had a great tour guide with lots of information provided. Got see Koalas, Kangaroos, and the stops for the walks and sight seeing were great.

Great Ocean Rd and 12 Apostles Tour

ILKAY our driver/host made us very welcome and relaxed. The tour was very well delivered in an enjoyable way with intervals of appropriate designed music. Although it is a very long tour ILKAY made it interesting with his sense of humour and knowledge.

Great day tooo. Much housekeeping

My sister and I had never seen the 12 apostles and we were so excited to go on this tour as Australians . When the coach finally arrived the driver hurried us along to get on the bus because he was running late. Three of us needed go to the bath room as we had been waiting at pickup point for a while. Well, he wasn’t happy as we were running late(as he kept telling us. ) When we got to the next pick up he took us into hotel to go and he pushed us along to the bathroom and I thought he was going to come in as well . He was very unhappy with us . Once back on the bus we apologised to all . The driver decided to give us the housekeeping rules for the next 30 minutes constantly telling us how to use a white bag with a red rim on it instead of saying sick bag. He went on and on and we were all shaking our heads. He was a nice driver but we felt like we were on a school excursion as he kept saying boys and girls. The experience on the coach was not good. The toilets at the last stop on the way home a MacDonalds were disgusting and the tour company should not be using this MacDonalds at Colbar. Even the overseas people were shocked as MacDonalds has a very good reputation overseas. Great tour overall . the driver needs to slow down we all felt we where on a fast train in Europe instead of a scenery trip in Victoria . Thank you for having these tours they are wonderful for both Australians and overseas holiday makers. But driving coaches safely is a priority and should regularly monitored. Sorry for the complaint but you need to know.

A must do trip.

Great trip. Long day but it goes by fast. The stops and viewings were great. Kiwi is a great guide who is also very involved and shares a lot of knowledge.

Melbourne day trip!

It was a spectacular trip worth seeing. The area is fabulous and the tour guide was great. However the bus was very much too crowded. It sat 28 people but the back seat bench was way too crowded for a 13 hour day!! The seats are 13 inches in width and left no room at all. We were squished with a family of three in the back bench seat. If not for the great tour guide and great location I’d never use this autopia tour company via Viator again. They should have kept the max at 27 guests!

Spectacular Scenery and Best Tour Guide Ever!

I never knew Australia had rain forests! I learned so much about the history of Australia and Victoria specifically. Vicki was a safe and careful bus driver. She was also highly knowledgeable and entertaining. The scenery she showed us was spectacular! She also told us about the natural history of this part of Australia (plants and animals). This tour may well be a highlight of my time in Australia. I highly recommend this tour and Vicki as a tour guide!

An enjoyable day

A great day was had on this tour. Be prepared for lots of bus time which can't be helped to get get to each location. Our guide Jordan went above and beyond especially with the smallies on board, he was a natural. Very chill but full of knowledge.

My wife was angry because I got her up before 6 am to get to the pick up point on time. But she was happy after we did the helicopter and got back to the hotel.

Great day tour

It's a long day but worth it to do with great sight seeing. Tour guide's very clear in giving instruction, very informative & helpful. Also, the tour is great for value. Highly recommended.

Great to see the 12 apostles it tour rather long.

Seeing the 12 Apostles was great and was the purpose of our tour. It was nice to visit some of the little towns and villages on the way and get an idea of the area. However, there was something about the bus that made it seem to sway constantly and the twists in the road and bumps were not dealt with very well. The day was very long and some stops seemed unnecessary. For us, it would have been better to cut a couple of hours off. Our guide was knowledgeable but talked too much.

It was a good adventure. The length did seem a bit long. Not sure how to remedy that. Definitely enough time to meet others.

Wonderful day

Despite the unpredictable weather and crowds, the Great Ocean Road and Twelve Apostles exceeded our expectations. The natural beauty of the coastline was truly awe-inspiring, and it was a memorable experience that I would highly recommend to others. One tip for future travelers would be to visit during the off-peak season to avoid the crowds and potentially enjoy better weather conditions. The weather was a bit unpredictable, with intermittent rain showers, which made some parts of the trip less enjoyable. Additionally, some of the viewpoints were quite crowded, especially during peak tourist season.

Well worth it the was fanastic

Had fantastic day with Autopia tours doing the Great Ocean Road Tour. Plenty of pit stops lots of things to see. A must do tour had a fantastic time from the start to the finish.

It was great

We did the tour yesterday and it was amazing, saw koalas and kangaroos and the tour guide Gino was great (we are not sure if Gino is his name...) He was really passionate about his job and had lots of stories to tell. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Outstanding

Aidan was funny and well informed. He was on time at the pick up site. He described very location we were to visit with a brief history, what expect and look for at the site. The chocolate factory had variety of food, ice cream and chocolates. He even stopped to view Koalas in the wild and found some. He gave us time and opportunity to explore the sites unlike other tour guides. Thank you Aidan for all you did.

Long day, fantastic scenary, great driver

Fantastic scenary, 12 apostles, temporate rain forest, apollo bay, great ocean road. A lot of driving on curvy coastal and mountain roads but well worthwhile. We saw Koalas in a tree near rainforest, quite tge treat. Driver Johnny was very informative, funny and helpful. The 12 apostles and gorge were truly awe inspiring. A must do in Melbourne.

A great day on the Great Ocean Road Tour!

Our driver, James, was super knowledgeable and funny. He had great stories along the trip and worked hard to make sure everyone had a great time. We saw many koalas, a few Roos and came really close to a wallaby crossing the road in front of our bus.

Beautiful scenery on the Great Ocean Road

The Scenery was the most memorable part for me. I took a 1 day trip; however, I would recommend doing the trip in 2 days, since it’s a long journey. I wish I had done that.

Our exceptional bus driver went above and beyond to make sure we saw kangaroos and koalas. His spirited personality made the trip fun and enjoyable. Highly recommend this great ocean road tour.

Great trip!

I loved the way the guide explained about the history of places we visited and the stories that happened in the places. The way she planned to get us in much lesser crowded area so that we can get a nice view of the Apostles. To be true Loch and Bridge spot was way too mesmerising than the 12 Apostles view. The Great ocean road drive, wish that we were sitting on the left side of the van to get a nice view but that was very unfortunate of us on the right side. We thought we would be returning via same route. Didn’t do enough research :). The break spots were so neat and clean. We came from Sydney and don’t know driving. Hence, Overall we had a great experience on this tour :)

Long day but it was worth it. Saw some absolutely beautiful sights. Our driver/tour guide, Wes, was absolutely amazing. Very knowledgeable and good at his job.

Amazing nature tour from Melbourne.

The trip to the rains forest was amazing and the views of 12 Apostles beech side was breath taking. Our tour guide was very enthusiastic and managed to find the panda bears living on the tress along roadside.
