An amazing experience

We did the 4 night 5 day hike and raft option. It was truly an experience that we will never forget. Our team of Hafiz. Hendrik, Adam and Heri were a great group of fellas. We saw lots of animals and also some amazing views whilst being supported through what was at times challenging hike.

5** trip

A must do !! We booked for a 2 day trek but extended via WhatsApp for an extra day which was definitely worth it. Collection and drop off included from hotel or airport which made arriving/leaving Bukit Lawang very easy with timings being organised through WhatsApp. Amazing guides (Dedek and rendi) who were very happy to go at your pace whilst climbing up and down through the jungle and constantly checking in to ensure you weren’t hungry or needed a rest. We saw multiple types of monkeys and orangutans on both days of trekking, and learnt lots about the jungle/trees/birds/etc. On the last day we visited the waterfall and tubed down the river which was very enjoyable and we got soaked ! Camping in the jungle for two nights was an amazing experience and the homestay prior/post the trekking days had a comfy bed and view of the river. Thank you so much !!

Highlight of our trip

Definitely the highlight of our 2-month trip in Asia. The rainforest is simply unbelievable and our guides - Dolat, Rendi & John - were amazing. We truly miss them. We spent 2 nights in Bukit Lawang and 1 night in the jungle in between. We saw 8 orangutans, 10+ gibbons, countless thomas leaf monkeys, hornbills, turtles, chameleon, great argus, water monitors, and many many more. Honestly thinking about coming back soon!

A beautiful experience

Bukit Lawang jungle trekking was a beautiful Experience. We Could see different types of monkeys and the very relaxed orangutans. Also,we learnt about different trees and the efforts to keep orangutans in their natural environment. Our guide and guide assistants were very knowledgeable and helpful when we needed a break or even helped us with our bags. Food was amazing during the trekking and the campsite. We camped next to the river. Accomodation was simple but confortable. We felt very welcome. Hafiz, Hendrik and Rendi took care of us all the time.

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING That was one of the highlights of my life so far. Two three-day jungle tours and several day tours. Since I will definitely return, I will book the tours again with Izoen and his team!!! From the first moment you feel like you are in a small family, everyone is looked after and all wishes are tried to be fulfilled. The guides treat the animals and nature with extreme care. Knowledge is imparted at all times. There is always singing and laughing, whether while hiking or around the campfire in the evening. And you definitely won't starve. ;-) I recommend staying in Bukit Lawang for at least a week. The people and the entire environment offer the perfect moment to completely switch off. Just sit by the river for two days or walk through the town and observe. Go in contact with the people, you will be all time safe. Thank you for these incredible moments and this lovely, warm way of dealing with people!!! To repeat my words... AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING

Once in a life experience

It was just a fantastic experience. You start the tour in a wonderful small village in the middle of the jungle. Then you make this 2 days trekking on the jungle. You can see a lot of monkeys and orangutan. The guides uncle bob and amri helps you with everything you need, and they try to make you see as much animals as they can. I really recommend this tour for everyone.

If you're looking for the best nature and cultural experience, SeeBukitLawang is the number 1 choice. I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience. Izoen did a wonderful job providing information as well as arranging transport from Medan and arranging my stay in Bukit Lawang at Sahnan Guesthouse. My guides Arie, John, and Rijao were the best!!! They were constantly looking out for me and making sure I had everything I needed. Not only were they courteous but they were great guys who knew how to have fun. These guys were very eco friendly and were always respectful of the animals and making sure we were leaving no trace in the jungle. I learned so much from these guys and can't wait to share my experience with my family and friends. If you're interested in doing a long trek like I did make sure you're physically ready for the challenging hikes as well as staying on top of your hydration. I never sweat so much in my life 🤣. Encountering orangutans with an amazing tour guide was an unforgettable experience. He went above and beyond to ensure the best view for the monkeys. Highly recommend this tour for a truly memorable adventure!

An unbelievable experience in Bukit Lawang. I enjoyed the jungle trip so much. The tour was spectacular we saw 11 orangutan’s in total and a lot of other fascinating animals. The guides in the jungle have been really professional well informed and answered all our questions. They listened to our needs and adjusted the Tour flexible. The campsites have been stunning next to the river. The service made us feel like we would stay in a resort rather than in the wildness. But the best thing was, that our guides made me feel like we are friends instead of costumers. Also after and before the trek Izoen took care of everything. Was always available and showed me around. The hotel room was so nice and I enjoyed Bukit Lawang so much that I extended couple of nights. Bukit Lawang is more than just the national park. It is worth to stay a bit longer and enjoy the highlights around.

Smooth pick up in a nice car. Accomodation was great, right by the river and nice and clean. The guides were really funny and helpful, they also spoke English well. Really good trip

Highly recommend

I had an amazing tour with these guys. Everything was easy. Got picked up in airport by a friendly man who drove me to Batik Lawang, stayed in a nice room, before the tour started in the morning. Our great guides Arnol and Dolat was some great and funny guys. They had an amazing energy and knew the forest very well. I would differently recommend going with these guys.

Great Experience of Bukit Lawang!

I had a great time visiting Bukit Lawang! The accommodation was so beautiful right on the river and I had the best guides help me in the jungle. They made me feel very welcomed and made the experience really fun. I would highly recommend!

Every great ape / orangutan enthusiast should go on this trip!

I was well taken care of throughout my trip. The transportation to and from the airport was uneventful and well air-conditioned. The jungle trek was a bit strenuous for someone who isn't conditioned, but I appreciated the challenge. It was majestic to see the jungle wildlife! The food along our trek was good and plentiful. And our guides were excellent.

Incredible experience

Had an amazing time on my jungle trek. Hafizh and his team were great fun and provided the best experience for us including the best Indonesian food we had eaten thus far. Couldn’t recommend them enough.

Highly recommended

We had a fantastic time on our 'See Bukit Lawang' jungle tour. We were picked up from our lovely accommodation (chosen by the company) and spent a day trekking through the jungle. The guides were fantastic..recognising when we needed a rest and when to push on. With their skills we saw so much wildlife and of course many orangutans. We had hoped to see one or two but the guides were able to direct us to see more then we had hoped for! We spent a night in the jungle - what an experience! And after breakfast the following day we rafted down the river. There was always great communication with the company and guides. I would fully recommend a tour with 'See Bukit Lawang'..they deserve to go far. As a side note the fruit, snacks and meals provided were amazing. Well done guys and thank you

Amazing trek!!! 🦧

The trip was amazing from beginning to end. Fabulous organisation prior to and on arrival, transport was punctual and comfortable with very friendly driver, hotel in Bukit Lawang was very comfortable and in a beautiful setting, and the jungle trek itself was the most incredible experience. We saw so much more wildlife than we expected. Right from the beginning of the trek we saw orangutang and monkeys. The food was delicious and plentiful and the guides were so knowledgeable, professional and attentive. An experience I would thoroughly recommend to anyone who likes adventure.

Amazing jungle experience

An amazing experience. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable and iZoen was so so helpful for my stay. We saw beautiful butterflies, gibbons m, orangutang and are wonderful fruit.

The best start to my year!! Thank you Izoen and team :) It was so well organised, we were very well looked after, and definitely got the most out of the time. I went with no expectations and was so amazed by the wildlife, river and food. Bukit Lawang town is gorgeous- everyone there is so lovely and welcoming and I felt so honoured to have been. My first solo adventure could not have been better, although my legs have only just recovered haha!

Great Experience!

What a great trip! The guides are very knowledgeable with great English. Comfy bungalow in Bukit Lawang. Everything is arranged for you and with an amazing meal in the Jungle! Great to see Orangutans and other wildlife. The rafting at the end of the trip is a lot of fun too! I went here on a recommendation of a fellow traveler i met in Malaysia and it didn’t disappoint! If you want to see orangutan's in the wild this is place to be!

Amazing experience

The entire experience went smoothly from pick up in Medan to trekking to drop off in Medan. Spent a night in the jungle beside a river that was great to soak in after hours of trekking. Got to see many orangutans, macaques, black gibbon and Thomas leaf monkeys. Our guides Amed and Anton provided great information, wonderful food and stories. Tubing down the river was so much fun. The guest house Sahnan was a beautiful place to rest after the trek and the family were so friendly and welcoming. Izoen ensured everything was well organised and I was being well taken care of. jungle tour

amazing experience with dedicated guides. the village is also really peacefull. i forgot my passport in the transfer bus but they brought it back! at the jungle tour we had guides henry and noon, beautifull people who took really good care of us. also amazing cooks in the camp! the most tastefull fried rice and chicken. also big thanks for izoen. for those people who think rain is a problem,it isnt. you get wet anyway, nor by the rain or the sweat, so raincoat not neccesary. flipflops or watershoes is needed for the last part.

Orangutans! Organised and fun!

Seeing the Orangutans in the jungle was amazing! iZoen and his team were great! Communication, helpfulness and knowledge. Bukit Lawang is a lovley place too. The bungalow was both clean and comfortable and run by a very nice family. I really can not fault the trip, the food and fruit provided on the trek was plentiful and tasty. Bring some card games to play by the river on your night in the jungle and relax. Next time i come back i’ll stay in the jungle for 2 nights for sure!! Thanks again

Bukit Lawang...Bukit List, more like! Challenging, worthwhile, amazing!

- picked up efficiently with sign at airport, taken to accommodation (slight walk from car to guest house). We stopped off for a tourist sim on the drive from Medan, and may or may not have been ripped off! Research options before coming! - accommodation in BL and breakfast etc really great (hot shower!) - amazing view of the river! This was not the place we were expecting, but close by and perfectly wonderful! - guides in National Park were FABULOUS!!!! Izoen, Randy and Henrik were toooooo wonderfully friendly and helpful! Food prepared was beautifully presented and plentiful throughout, and when either of us were struggling with tricky terrain and/or wet ground they assisted us competently and kindly. We saw 3 pairs of orangutans and had lots of info about other jungle sounds, saw some hornbills and birds too. When my shoe came away from the sole, Henrik gave me his shoes and completed the trek barefoot - legend 🙏!! - campsite at jungle was well prepared, comfortable, basic toilet, beautiful surroundings, mosquito net, excellent array of food, and card/matchstick games which are clearly a favourite of Izoen's to perplex and amuse guests! - rafting next day - LEECHES!! Beware but also the guides laughed and removed the offending creatures easily! Great fun rafting, a somewhat hairy walk and not a pleasant crossing for those not confident in the water, but again, all guides were knowledgeable and helpful about the area and how to stay safe. - we loved these guys so much we met for beers later (some great spots in BL) and asked them to escort us to Bat Cave the following day (doable alone - but the guides add a new dimension of confidence and knowledge to the excursion).

The closest we have ever been to orang oetans

Had an amazing trip! We were picked up at our hotel and were brought to Bukit Lawang where we met the guides and Izoen, the person that contacted us on whatsapp, we had a nice chat and a lunch and then we went to the room. The next day we did a jungle trek with the best guides, Hafiz and Nanang, we walked for 7 hours, including an amazing lunch, very delicious fruit, and of course a lot of monkeys and a few orang oetans. We spent the night in a camp deep into the jungle where we slept profoundly listening to the sound of the birds and the river. The next day we walked another 4 hours and headed back to Bukit Lawang by jungle rafting over the river, lovely experience, very fun and with a stunning view. There we spent another night and then they drove us to the airport the next morning. The experience overall was really nice, the view was good and the guides were outstanding! They were really nice, we could have great chats, and above all, were quite funny. Moreover, they knew exactly where to go and had a keen eye for spotting the orang oetans.

Awesome jungle trek!

We had an amazing time, saw I think we counted 11 animals we had never seen before 6 of which were different types of monkeys and apes and of course the orangutangs! Would 100% suggest this tour, it’s a very fun trek and the camp is in a gorgeous spot!

Amazing Experience

Great tour! Host was really informative, great accomodation and trek path, delicious food and most importantly, MONKEYS. absolutely recommend to anyone in Medan or surroundings who wants a couple of days in the jungle.

What an adventure!

I booked my trek (4d3n) quite spontaneous only two days in advance, but they managed to get me on a tour. The tour itself was great! We had two guides Amat and Bambang who lead us save through the Jungle and explained animals and plants to us. We sleeped in makeshift tents with sleeping bags and pillows. Our kitchen stuff prepared 4 yummy meals a day to keep us by strength. During our trip we saw several Orang-Utans and other monkeys. I would really recommend this trip to anyone who is physically fit to hike for 3-4 hours and isn't bothered by sleeping on a matt. The advantage of taking a longer trek is you will see more of the jungle and Animals and you will meet less other groups and companies. All in all a great experience and an incredible adventure! A lifetime experience

Jungle Adventure

It was an amazing experience! The guides are very nice and you can learn a lot about the jungle. We saw Orang Utans and bathed in a waterfall, ate wonderful traditional food in the jungle camp and played games at night with the guides. Absolutely recommend! It was a wonderful experience that i will remember forever 👍🏼

Amazing experience in the jungle! You'll see many orang outangs and other monkeys, and eat great local food!

Amazing trek, great (and abundant) food, good people! We saw 7 Adults Orang Outang, plus babies, some extremely close up. The guides were super friendly and provided loads of unprompted information about the jungle fauna and flora. The accommodations before and after the trek were not the same, one was fine and the other was really great, one of the best nights I had since I was in Indonesia. The guides are attentive to your needs and will go out of their way to spend quality time with you and tell you everything you're interested about. Don't forget to take high socks, a power bank and a pillow with you if you're doing the night(s) in the jungle!

Amazing, the highlight of my SE Asia trip!!

This tour was undoubtedly the highlight of my 2 month trip to Southeast Asia, and I would highly recommend making the journey out to Bukit Lawang and Gunung Leusser to anyone travelling this part of the world. My guides were fantastic; Izoen communicated clearly and made all of the logistics flow seamlessly, and Andras and Henry made the grueling trek through the jungle a blast with their experience, knowledge, and cheerful attitudes. The nature and camping experience cannot be captured in words; not only did we see several wild orangutans, but we also saw plenty of other primates and jungle creatures. The village of Bukit Lawang was a lovely place to bookend the trip, as all of the locals were extremely welcoming. As long as you're okay with some mud, bugs, and tough trails, I can almost guarantee that this experience will be the highlight of your vacation. I've recommended this trip to all of my friends visiting the Indonesia and Malaysia, and my only regret is that I didn't sign up for more nights in the jungle!

We had the best time ever here! Legendary trough the jungle, lots of animals and views. Apis and Irpan Dian are the best guides! And Ahmat is the best cook of the jungle! I would 100% recomend

Stunning 4 day trek with Joko!

Izoen was great at organising everything beforehand, always available to answer questions through WhatsApp before we got there. He also took care of the transport from and to the airport, which made things really easy for us. The jungle trek with our guide Joko was unbelievable! He knew the jungle like his backyard and made us feel we were in the best hands. We saw orangutans and monkeys every day, swam in rivers and had delicious food at night. If you’re looking at options for the trek, go with See Bukit Lawang, you won’t regret it!

I went with 2 brittish girls and tour guide ian. He knew a lot and helped us out a lot aswell!, we saw a lot of orang oetang so we had a lot of luch aswell

AMAZING!!!

It was absolutely amazing!!! We got a private driver that brought us to Bukit Lawang and they received us with open arms. The jungle trek is one of my highlights in my 5 months of travelling. Baba and Henry were our guides and they knew a lot about the jungle and were super nice. We got amazing food and a lot! Especially the fresh fruit was soooo good. They also had a lot of respect for the nature. And we’ve seen so much wildlife and 8 orangutans!! It was so special and they made sure we had a good viewing point! We spent the night aside the river in a hut and it was a very cool experience. I got eaten by misquitos, but it was totally worth it!! The wild water rafting was awesome🤙🏻 When we came back in the village Izoen prepared a night with live music for us. I really recommend this trip, it’s absolutely worth it!

Great experience, stunning jungle and wonderful guides

Great to be able to book as a package. Local lodge was comfortable and owners really helpful, good food. Transfer from Medan on time and comfortable. Jungle trek was amazing, very challenging terrain particularly in the heat but the guides did offer easier options but we decided to do longer ones to see more wildlife. Camping is basic huts, but comfortable and great food Guides were fabulous, really knowledgeable, kept us going when energy flagging. Helped us over difficult terrain and support to get back to Medan In summary once in a lifetime experience. Be aware return travel extra but easy to organise

Move over Bali, HELLO Bukit Lawang!!!!

Honestly, I've traveled a lot of places and this BY FAR was the most magical experience that I've ever had the chance to do (only rivaled maybe by the Galapagos, though this is much cheaper and more accessible). One of my dreams was to see Orangutans in the wild. I was between Borneo and Sumatra and after doing a little research I decided to go with Sumatra because it's slightly (emphasis on the slightly) to get there. You fly into Medan and the driver will meet you at the airport for a 4hr drive to Bukit Lawang. The town is filled with many guesthouses though it doesn't feel like there are any tourist at all. My guide Izoen was super responsive during the time and was in communication via Whatsapp prior to the tour. I stayed at Sahnan's guest house and it was really comfortable and family run. Surprisingly, the village is well connected with Wifi and cell service. The next morning I set off for an 8hr hike into the jungle. The hike itself is moderate to difficult. The humidity is oppressive, the heat is unbearable and you'll want to wear waterproof boots because it can get really muddy and wet. I'd also recommend wearing hiking pants and long sleeve shirts as there are a lot of leaches and mosquitos and ants. NOW, for the real review. On this tours I saw 8 Orangutans (it's pretty much a guarantee that you'll see at least one). On top of that you'll see other endangered species like gibbon monkey, Thomas Iangur, and more. After the 8hrs you stay at a campsite and the food that the guides cook is to die for! Mind you it's a bit rough when it comes to the camping situation (flatbed and mosquito net is what you get). Even as a solo traveler you'll likely share a net with someone. After that you trek 3hrs on day three to the river and then take a refreshing 25min raft ride back to the village (they put your stuff in a wet bag so nothing gets wet). Overall this was the most MAGICAL experience. I hope this helps :)

Absolutely amazing Nature expirience, we saw many many animals and had a very fun time with our guide. As an local guide, he knew many interesting thing about the forest an the region. Little Tipp, good shoes! The trails are very steep.

Amazing experience

we were in Bukit Lawang for 4 days. see bukit lawang was already recommended to me by friends. I can recommend it to everybody. izeon tries really hard to make your stay unforgettable. from the jungle trekking tour, bathing elephants to being together with the locals. in any case, his friendly and funny manner is contagious, one never felt strange or insecure. 1 night jungle trekking tour is a must, thanks for letting us experience it. again and again 👌🏽

Great experience in every aspect

We did the jungle trekking as part of a long round trip in Indonesia and this trekking is still on top of the list of great experiences. Really capable and friendly guides who did every to make it a great trip. We saw a lot of animals including several orangutans. The overnight stay was cozy and well prepared and we really enjoyed everything. Can only recommend Jungle trekking in Bukit Lawang with this team 👍

Great trekking event and overnight stay in the Dshungle!

It was a great experience to meet wild Orang Utans, Gibbons and Makakes in the Dshungle - incredible!! We spent one night in the Rainforest at the edge of a river - Great! Our guides Izoen and Hafizh took care for my son and me and prepared deliscious food and snacks on this trekking tour. We wer laughing a lot and had fun together. Buki Lawang is also as village worth to go there. Nice restaurant, bars and poeple! Thx to our great and motivated guides!

Great experience. I decided to join this tour because I have always been interested in biology. I was able to see orangutans, toucans, and more during my 4-day/3-night tour. The first day we played in the river and the second day we took a tour to a very mysterious cave with bats and bees.iZoen was my guide. He made me feel really welcome. They supported me throughout the hike. And they were very knowledgeable about the jungle geography and plants. The tour started around 9:00 in the morning. I was Japanese and they were very kind to me. In the jungle, I ate nasi goreng that the guide's wife had made for us. On the last day, we took a boat down the river back to the hotel. The river flowed fast and I enjoyed it very much.

Best experience you will ever have!

It has been the most wonderful experience. We did the 2-day, 1-night jungle trekking trip, and we’re 5 tourists with 3 guides. The guides were amazing with telling stories and making jokes, while we were all sweating. We got so much food throughout the whole trip so no need to worry about that. You get so much for the money. Besides this the Fido Dido guesthouse was also very nice and cozy, and amazing food. At night in the jungle we all sat around outside playing cards and was having the best most cozy time. The tracks can be tough, so be prepared for this, but make sure not to bring too much stuff. Even if accidents happen, they are so good at helping and calming, and there is no rush on you.

Fantastic jungle trekking experience

All went smoothly from booking to end of this trip. Fantastic jungle trekking with really good and helpful guides. Saw lots of different and interesting animals including several orangutans. Worked really great even for our kids age 8 and 12. Highly recommend.

A great jungle trek

Fantastic time! Great way to escape the crowded streets of the big cities like Jakarta and Medan. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable, loads of fun and super helpful no matter how experienced you are in the outdoors. Within the village, everyone is so nice and welcoming and the food is great. All the guests are very well taken care of. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer

Once in a lifetime experience

We had three incredibly friendly guides who took great care of us. Spending four days and three nights in the jungle is quite an adventure. You need a certain amount of stamina because there are some very steep uphills and downhills. However, if you have them, then you can really enjoy the tour. After a hike of less than 60 minutes we found the first semi-wild orangutans. Every night you stay in a different camp on a small river. The background noise at night is absolutely amazing. Only the high humidity is a challenge, because nothing dries at all and you sometimes have to start the day with wet clothes. All in all, a more than successful trip.

This package is awesome! Would highly recommend - the accommodation that was organised was fantastic, the village was great and all the locals are extremely friendly. Izoen was an amazing guide along with his assistant Randi. Their knowledge of the area and the national park was amazing. The trek was so much fun and Izoen really looked after us. We were lucky enough to see 7 orangutans and so much wildlife. It's important to be quite fit for the trek but regardless Izeon and Randi will look after you. It was magical camping out in the jungle and the food that was created by our cook was unreal! I could not recommend this trip more and everyone needs to spend a night out in the Sumatran jungle!
