What Safari is all about!

What a great experience. Communication was spot on and professional. Maria, the owner, is super pleasant and willing to help in any way. Let's start with the ride. My description might sound negative, but it is not. We found it to be one of the highlights of the trip. Probably 70 miles off grid on rugged bumpy roads. I think people would pay just for the experience. The Delta is an untouched oasis of what life has been like for thousands of years. "Raps" was our guide. Excellent choice. As a poler he is skilled and as a guide he is informative and speaks near perfect English. He has a great personality and sense of humor. Hippos, giraffe, various birds, impala, buffalo...all were present. The Bushwalk brought us within 20 feet of 6 giraffes feeding and a small group of zebra. The campsite epitomized what camping is all about. Tents were set up, liens provided plus some basic essentials. We were greeted warmly and offered a fresh wet towel to freshen. The site was positioned near a large watering hole so plenty of wildlife came into view. Baboons and several listed above were present. Master was our head guide and he is focused on providing you with the best experience seeing the animals. He did not disappoint. Lions, ostrich, Buffalo, wild dogs, hyenas, various birds, plus more. OG was the head chef and delivered great quality food throughout the day. All food is cooked on open flame and he makes the best bread. Cooked in the ground covered in coals this bread was legit. You must add this to your Africa safari plans. We WILL BE BACK!

Great WildCamping experience with Kalahari Breeze in the Delta

We had a wonderful private three-night WildCamping trip with Kalahari Breeze into the Okavango last month. The spot where we camped was in a concession area, and the wildlife was fantastic. Each morning and late afternoon, we went on drives and saw a plethora of general game, along with multiple elephant and buffalo sightings. In just a few days, we also had multiple lion sightings, saw wild dogs, and even witnessed a cheetah stalking and chasing impala. The pre-erected tents and beds were comfortable, and the hot water prepared for the showers on demand was a luxury we did not expect. Our main guide, Master, was friendly and helpful from the start. His knowledge and passion for guiding were evident, as he grew up in the area. We went on mokoro trips, which were a unique experience. Unfortunately, the water levels were lower than usual, so we couldn't go on long trips and had to turn back due to hippo and elephant activity in the main channel. We also went on two bush walks and encountered elephants and even a lion on one of the walks. The food served by the bush chef, Sam, was delicious. We were surprised by what he managed to prepare in his bush kitchen: fresh bread each evening, three-course meals, and brunch after morning activities. We highly recommend this WildCamping trip with Kalahari Breeze. Maria in the office was efficient and effective during all the booking interactions, ensuring everything went as planned and surpassing our expectations. Thanks to Maria, Master, Sam, Jerry, and Richard for hosting us in the bush.

3 fantastic days in NG32

We had a fantastic safari with Kalahari Breeze and are completely satisfied with our choice. Maria answered even the smallest questions thoroughly and promptly. Master is a very experienced, friendly guide and found all the animals we wanted to see: many lions, wild dogs, a leopard, hippos, elephants and many more. The food at the camp was outstanding. It's fascinating what can be conjured up in the middle of nowhere. There was always more than enough food. We also really liked the camp itself with its private outdoor “bathroom”. itinerary: Day 1: Drive to NG32, Mokoro ride, game drive to the camp; Day 2: morning and evening game drives; Day 3: morning game drive and return to Maun at 2 PM.

The Okavango Delta- you’re gonna LOVE it!

This was the most amazing part of a 12 day camping safari for our family of 6- all over 17 years old. We camped in the bush, with no power or facilities for 2 nights, learning from the locals who guided us through their delta in their mokoro dug out canoes. Their knowledge is outstanding. The wildlife in the delta was in abundance and unspoilt. We went on walking safaris , coming up close and personal with hippos and buffalo, aswell as zebras, wildebeest, impala, crocs, giraffes etc. Being this close to nature was an unforgettable experience. Be sure to have local currency to tip them in.

Most extraordinary expereince!

It's been some months now since we did the mobile camping in the Okavango Delta with Kalahari Breeze safari. Even months after our trip to Botswana, one of the first things I think about is the mobile camping experience (3 days and 2 nights Okavango Delta). What a great and extraordinary experience we had with Kalahari Breeze Safari!! We were just 2 people and we expected some other tourists to join us, but it seemed we were alone for the whole trip, together with 4/5 people (guides, cook, etc.) from the organisation. It was our first wild camping in Africa, so I was sometimes pretty scared, but the crew really did their best to put me at ease, even changing the program. Actually it's not so strange to be a bit afraid the first time :). The tents and sanitary were very clean, all people of thhe crew were amazing and knew a lot of the environment and the food was very good. I still don't understand how Chef (the cook) could manage to cook such dinners on a camp fire :). We did a mokoro boat trip, visited the local people (we love to explore the local cultures), did a bush walk and safari drives. I can't describe the feeling if you are there in the open wild, everything silent and you only hear the lions, hippo's, monkeys, .. close to you. If you are in Maun and you want an unforgettable safari experience, don't hesitate to book a trip with Kalahari Breeze Safari! Mario and Chris keep up the good work!

Unique Experience

Wildcamping in the Okavango Delta is truly experiencing the wild. You are out early and back at sunset, but get to see so much both big and small. The staff are amazing and do a brilliant job of looking after you. The tent is basic but very comfortable and wild bathroom functional, but shower better than we thought it would be. If you really want to spend your Delta time immersed in the environment then this is the trip for you. If you want 5* luxury safari experience then probably not. Thank you Kalahari Breezes you are a company that can be totally trusted to provide a unique experience that will stay in our memories always.

Kalahari Breeze Okavango Delta Mokoro WildCamping Tour

A friend and I went on this tour in early July and had a fabulous experience! Although the tour could accommodate up to six people (because that's as many as the safari jeep could hold), we were the only ones - a private tour! The staff of six (driver, tour guide, chef, and two assistants) were exceptional; as was the poler who guided us through the water in a mokoro and pointed out elephants and other birds and animals as we passed. We had to wait while a herd of elephants crossed the water just ahead of us!

Okavango Delta Wild Camping and Mokoro Safari

The Okavanga Delta is simply incredible, where the local people and wildlife co-exist. On this tour, you to learn to live the wild animals, track them on foot, and through the channels on the Mokoro from local people. We have been on safaris before in Africa (not Botswana) and this one is extremely different and unique as you experience how locals live with the animals (not just see by car). Highlights and Recognition to share: -Master (not local names) grew up in a village in the delta and has life experiences learning to survive with with wildlife that I cannot even fathom. Brilliant at sharing his stories and knowledge. Master expertise is deep, there is nothing he doesn't know about the delta or animals and he will point out details that you would never learn or see without him. -Jerry was the assistant guide and so friendly and helpful for us! Bryan was our poler and he taught us the culture, how to pole and we had an awesome adventure! We LOVED our guides! -Seeing a cheetah (very close) stalk and kill an Impala, call for her cubs, bring five cubs to the kill and feed them. Incredible surreal circle of life moment. -Baby elephant and mom were literally right outside our tent when I was brushing my teeth. -Almost running into a hippo on the mokoro, retreating, and having to find other ways around the hippos. -We saw endless huge groups of animals by foot trek and game drive - Buffalo, Zebra, Impala, Wilderbeast, Giraffe, Elephant, Hippo, Impala, Warthog, and Ostrich. -We heard the hyena but did not see him, which is good because we were on foot :) -Dinner and Brunch at Camp! Delicious! Homemade bread, lasagna, salad, squash with corn, chicken sausage, eggs, etc. The food was incredible and the chef is super attentive. I believe Doctor was his name - not local name, but forgive me if not correct). - The tent is SUPER nice, I was expecting a small tent. This was a large, heavy duty, with two twin beds, warm blankets, and outdoor camping shower and bathroom. They gave us warm bottles to keep us warm also. -We had a weird schedule in between countries and the company worked with us to customize and maximize our time on the delta, was prompt and informative, and flexible with our needs. If you are a nature, culture and animal lover - I urge you to visit Botswana and highly recommend this company. We stayed in the airport hotel the night before in Maun. It is cute and clean and the breakfast was great. The company picked us up at 7:30a from the hotel and we started, and they dropped us off at the airport to end. Cheers and safe travels!

Would highly recommend Kalahari Breeze

We originally booked our trip with Kalahari Breeze for 2020 and Chris & Maria were kind enough to hold our trip at the original cost. We finally travelled in July 2022, doing a 6 day tour including a 3 day mokoro / camping safari in the Okavango, a night under the stars on the Makgadikgadi pan, a night at Elephant Sands lodge & a night in Kasane with a river safari and a game drive. Every person we met from the owners Chris and Maria to the drivers and mokoro polers made us feel welcome. We were looked after beautifully with delicious meals magicked up in the middle of the desert. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and really looked after our safety. Honestly, it was the best holiday I have ever had. Have recommended Kalahari Breeze to friends who are thinking of a safari. Could not fault it.

Fantastic Adventure

I made a trip at the last minute and booked this tour not really sure what I was getting into. Chris, the manager/owner talked to me the day before and realized I hadn't researched this. He was concerned I wouldn't get the full Okavango plus Moremi experience, so he offered to give me a tour to Moremi on the third day free of charge. The first two days of mokoro (canoe) and walking te islands were an amazing experience, being so close to the animals. The staff were great and my personal guide was fantastic with a wealth of knowledge and experience. I did actually prefer this approach, feeling closer and in a more natural viewing setting to the jeep experience, but we did see fewer animal types as many of the herds had left for Chobe and I saw elephants and lions in Moremi that I would not otherwise have seen. All in all it was a wonderful experience and I was so impressed by Chris' evident care and attention to making my experience one to remember. Any business anywhere will thrive if the owner is personally invested in his/her business and cares about the product they sell. This was no exception. Highly recommend.

No value for money.

After having quite some trouble contacting the office (website not working, outdated information on Google Maps, staff only working from home in the weekends,...) we eventually booked an alternative arrangement with them with accommodation at a permanent camp (they wouldn't book the regular 3 day 2 night trip with wildcamping due to chances of having rain, which didn't happen after all). We were quite disappointed by this trip. First, calling it a 3 day trip is grossly exaggerated, as the first day involves a 3 hour game drive just outside the park, the second day merely includes an indeed very enjoyable mokoro excursion and a 2 hour bush walk, and the third day has nothing more to offer. Second, the trip is merely at the fringe of the Delta, not inside Okavango. This is not what we expected for that amount of money, certainly not worth the 5-star ratings we see here.

Great experience as a solo traveler

Everything went smoothly from beginning to end - from booking, to airport pick up and transfer (and they helped me buy a simcard right after landing in Maun), to the Mokoro rides and walking safari. The Staff are extremely helpful and the guides knowledgeable and kind. I always felt taken care of. The camp was great with good tents and dining spot. The activities were also fabulous - the guide, Thenix, was going at a good pace and was always explaining things to me and showing me around. The food was also great, and I could se the effort and love they put into making food that was tasty and would satisfy the clients. I would highly recommend this tour for solo travelers, couples, and small groups alike!

Unforgettable adventure

Many thanks to Kalahari Breeze Safaris for their patience and help in organizing an unforgettable trip to Pom Pom camp. Camp Pom Pom is a private camp with a great location, great facilities, great staff and service. The camp is not surrounded by a fence and animals can walk around the camp. In Pom Pom there is no mobile connection and no internet, only satellite connection. The ranger guides do a great job and will work hard to find the exact animals you want to see.

More spectacular than words can describe

there truly aren't words for how beautiful, peaceful and spectacular this trip was. to be "IN" the Delta was a true life-goal of mine and this trip did not disappoint. The guides and safari staff were absolutely friendly, the accommodations were perfectly fitting and the FOOD and ANIMALS were everything we wanted them to be! there simply are NOT enough words to describe how fantastic the entire experience was! I would return to africa immediately simply to repeat this trip. If I'm ever lucky enough to return to the delta, I will absolutely repeat this tour and MAKE IT LONGER! (I could have stayed in the delta the rest of my life) the area, the people, the habitat, and the animals are more than we ever could have hoped for. Make sure you bring enough film and camera batteries! :)

Overnight Okavango Dream

As vegan travellers we are always hyper aware when booking trips as to what the hotel or tour operator is able to offer us in the way of food. Saying that they can provide good vegan fare, and actually living up to that statement can be worlds apart. We are very used to being undercatered for, or given measly portions of fruit or unimaginative salad whilst others are tucking into hearty meals. When Chris proclaimed that Kalahari Breeze can cater for any special dietary requirements it was certainly a bold statement to make. We were excited for a safari that would cater for us, and so we set off hopeful but none the less still dubious as to what exactly we would be served. Well, as it turned out, we were treated to feast after feast. Every thought was made right from delicious vegan snack bars for the pole ride, to decadent meals at the camp. We enjoyed a range of tasty meals from stuffed gems squashes, to a braai with so many sides I could barely eat them all. For breakfast we started with a creamy porridge which was followed up by an entire 'English breakfast' with vegan sausages, mushrooms, smoky sweet potatoes amongst other items, including ciabbata with fig jam! I mean come on, it was literally better than most the restaurant breakfasts and WE WERE IN THE OKAVANGO DELTA! Am I overselling this company on their ability to cater delicious food for vegan's and other specific diets? Not at all. We were literally blown away! Chris's company also practices sustainable tourism, which is a philosophy of ethical travel that really speaks to us as a couple. When you meet Chris, you will instantly get an understanding of what this means to him as a person and Kalahari Breeze. From ensuring the best treatment of those whom they work with (the polers from Bolo) to creating as minimal impact on the environment. Everything that they take in (including tents, beds, camping toilets, shower bags and a whole lot of food) all comes out again and the earth is left as if no one had been there at all. At times, we wanted to get a little closer to the animals we had the pleasure of seeing. Our tour guide, Isaac, who is an expert in all things flora and fauna, kept us back and reminded us that we are in the the territory of wild animals, and not only for our own safety but to also respect and preserve the environment as a wild and space for these animals. As a tour operator that runs on foundations of respect, experience and careful planning I cannot recommend them enough!

A Bucket List Trip

Well, where to begin. The Okavango Delta is a dream destination, as any nature lover would know, this is an environment like few others. It's a bucket list item for anyone that has ever heard of it or seen pictures of hippos wading in the watery wetlands whilst flipping through a nature magazine. When visiting Botswana your trip would truly be amiss if including an escape to the Okavango wasn't on your itenerary. For us, my finance and I, travelling from Durban to Gabarone, and from the capital city up to Maun was a long haul but let me tell you, it was worth every second we spent in our car. We had been communicating with Chris from the tour company, Kalahari Breeze, about our overnight camping trip with them into the Delta and we were overflowing with excitement. Chris gave us all the information that we needed to both prepare ourselves (encouraging us to bring non toxic soap, natural mosiquoto repellant, sun hat, and long pants etc) and wet our appetites for the adventure (indicating what wildlife we may see!!). After this we had in mind all the wonderous creatures living in the Delta and wondered which we would get the opportunity to gave at. As animal lovers, we always seek out companies putting their money where their mouth is and doing their bit to take care of the space in which they work, if it's something that they attest to do. When you meet Chris, you will instantly get an understanding of what this means to him as a person and to the Kalahari Breeze brand - a company that truly practices what they preach. From ensuring the best treatment of those who they work with (the polers from Bolo - the rural village from where our journey began) to creating as minimal impact on the environment through which you journey and camp at. Everything that they take in (which includes tents, washing basins, camping toilets, shower bags and a whole lot of food) all comes out again and the earth is left as if no one had been there at all. At times, whilst out on the water or on our afternoon trek, we wanted to get a little closer to the animals we had the pleasure of seeing. Our tour guide, Isaac, who is an expert in all things flora and fauna in the Okavango, kept us back and reminded us that we are in the terratory of wild animals, and not oy for our own safety but to also respect and preserve the environment as a wild and safe space for these animals, it is our duty and privilege to admire then from afar. We are well aware that often guides will be convinced to move in closer to enable their patrons to 'get a better picture' which can be not only dangerous but also disconcerting for the animals. It was a pleasure to be guided by someone who is highly astute and always considering the environment around you. I felt safe and at ease throughout the entire trip and that was all thanks to being in such experienced and considerate hands. As a tour operator that operates (in our opinion) on foundations of respect, careful planning and years of experience, I cannot recommend them enough. From start to finish we were in awe of how well we were taken care of. We felt instantly at home in a landscape so vastly dismilar from anything that we are used to. Chris, and every one of the employees associated with Kalahari Breeze are phenomenal. One last note. Chris went out of his way to introduce us to businesses and people in Maun to help us with our project, and even made arrangements for us on our behalf, none of which had anything to do with his company or anything that was of benefit to him! Just an all round genuine man.

It was great!

Having been in several safaris acorss Africa we can fairly say that this one is one of the greatest! These guys assembled a top team in every sense. Cook was great, the guide amazing and the camp was as good as it gets! The safari was wonderful in every way!

Überteuerte und enttäuschend

Es war eine überteuerte Enttäuschung! Die Ausstattung und das Essen, das wir bekamen war gut. Allerdings sprechen mehr Argumente dagegen diese Tour nicht mehr zu machen! Auf Nachfrage fanden wir heraus, das diese Tour richtig überteuert ist und die Locals einen nur sehr geringen Teil des Geldes, das wir bezahlten erhalten. Diese Inner Okavango Delta Tour ist nur 5km vom Gate entfernt, somit wird sie dem ganzen nicht gerecht! Selbst während der „3Tage“ (was keine ganzen 3Tage sind) kamen wir nicht tiefer ins Delta. Am ersten Tag wurden wir zur falschen Zeit abgeholt. Unser Guide sprach nur, wenn wir Fragen stellten. Zudem wiederholte er ständig die selben Erklärungen zu den Tieren. Es war keine Wissensbereicherung die man sich erhofft, wenn man mit „Locals“ unterwegs ist. Wir erhielten nicht alle aufgeführten Mahlzeiten. Insgesamt hatten wir bis zu 9h Lehrlaufzeit pro Tag, während dieser Zeit durften wir das Camp auch nicht verlassen. Unser Guide sagte uns „Now it is relaxing-time!“. Zwei Stunden pro Tag wären okay gewesen, aber so war es reine Zeitverschwendung am Rande des Okavango Deltas immer am gleichen Fleck zu sitzen und nichts zu tun. In diesen angeblichen 3 Tagen haben wir genau so viel erlebt und erfahren, wie bei einer Halbtagestour.
