1 Day Okavango Delta Mokoro/Canoe Daytrip

Wonderful!

What a wonderful day trip! We were picked up by our awesome driver right on time. Our poler guide Flamingo was so knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. We got to see tons of animals and learn about the delta while peacefully floating along the river. I would highly recommend!

Peaceful Mokoro Trip

This part of the delta was beautiful and our Guide from the Village Gedeon was very knowledgeable. He told us everything we needed to know. We saw a lot of Hippos, Giraffes with a baby, Gnus, Impala, Buffalos, Zebras, Pelicans, lots of other birds and Elefants. All in all amazing experience.

Unforgettable experience

Very special and not to be missed experience in Okavango delta. Our poler was very informative, pointing and naming different birds and animals when noticing them. He would stop Mokoro and positioned it for better photo position. But, it highly depends on the poler. Some other members from our group in other Mokoro canue were highly unsatisfied with their poler as it kept silent all the time.

Overall it was good

We very much enjoyed the Mokoro trip. Our guide - Junior - was excellent, very polite and informative. He should get promoted! Just note that you will only see a small part of the Okavango Delta. The tour is 'just' a one-hour Mokoro drive (and one hour back) and a bush walk for about one hour. In comparison to this, the price is quite high and the transport of about four hours round trip long. If you can, try to stay in the delta for a few days. If you cannot, this is and the Moremi game drive are probably your only decent options. If you are unlucky and don't see many animals which sometimes happens, we suppose that this tour gets a bit boring. Also, insist on an English-speaking Mokoro guide or you will miss out on most of the information about the delta and its wildlife which happened to others on our tour. Lastly, note that activities of this kind entail some risk. You will float close to Hippos in a Mokoro and will, therefore, be mostly unprotected from them. In our case, a hippo started running at us but luckily, the Mokoro drivers managed to make it turn away by screaming and hitting the water with their poles.

Can not fault this experience.

Incredible experience. Picked up at our hotel on the dot. Open top rode to the delta where our “poler” was waiting. An hour out to the lunch and walk spot, then an hour back. Elephant, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, buffalo and antelope oh and did I mention the huge number of hippo and birds. Our driver was Craig who was courteous and thoughtful. Our piper was Castro who gave us so much information it was so rewarding. Brilliant day with superb salads (one vegan) and lots of ice cold water. 10/10.

A magical day!

It was amazing to hear the hippos calling out to each other! The bonus was walking and having lunch in the bush with an experienced guide!

Amazing

The driver Lee was on time picking up, on the way to the delta we saw lots of birds and animals. My guide Epi great poler and again saw birds, animals, and hippos ( not in the water) but in land. Lunch by Nandos but I was still hungry.

Great trip - recommend!

Went on this Mokoro day trip to the Okavango Delta - everything was great, I recommend. Communication and booking via email and WhatsApp was easy. I was picked up from my hotel as discussed, the transfers and driver were very comfortable, the Mokoro guide was great and the bush walk was fabulous too. This year in April things are a bit dried than usual and water levels are lower but the team informed me about this before I left. I still had a good time!

Must do in Okavango

We had an excellent experience from booking process to the tour itself. It is not your typical game drive. After travelling for about 1h-1h30 we transferred to a mokoro canoe which was a bit unsettling at first to really exciting and sublime in the same time a few minutes later. Gliding within Okavango channels can not be compared to anything. A nice ‘workout’ - walk on one of the islands to see some wild life is a good addition. Really glad we took this trip with Kalahari Breeze Safaris

Once in a Lifetime

It was a very interesting experience. just extremely hot, and the water levels was a bit low. The game drive could be a bit shorter, it was very exhausting with the heat. The canoe polers was very good and friendly. Remember to use your sunscreen and an umbrella and good hat is handy

beautiful, peaceful, amazing

Our guides were so nice and fun. They taught us so much and made us feel so comfortable. We got to see so many elephants, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, baboons, and even hippos! It was peaceful, relaxing, and exciting! Highly recommend!

A fun and interesting day.

We enjoyed our Mokoro trip emensly, our driver Chanda was friendly and we had a great chat. Our Mokoro poler Baya was excellent. I'd recommend Kalahari Breeze Safaris for this trip. They were responsive and gave plenty of information to prepare us for the day. It was pretty warm on the return after lunch but we expected that. Have a hat and sunscreen on hand. They provided a nice lunch and plenty of water. Our walk was almost 5km over a couple of hours but each walk can be different. We saw zebra, wildebeest, elephants and hippos. Baya kept us at safe distances.

worth the bumpy ride!

This was one of the most unique experiences I have ever been on! It's a company owned by Africans and your guides are all local and that's an added plus. My only suggestion is I wish it could have been longer!

Beautiful water and a lovely hike!

The whole experience and area we explored was beautiful! The guides were friendly, professional and knew a LOT about the animals! I saw zebra, giraffes and hippos and had a lovely hike too. The tour organiser was very flexible in finding me a date I could make and everyone there was lovely! I would say just make sure you wear jeans or tough trousers for the hike and bring lots of layers if it’s in winter season as it is very cold in the morning! And covered shoes/sneakers. Definitely make this trip!

Great experience, great staff!!

Kalahari Breeze staff was extraordinary!! They were able to organize for me, last minute, an unforgettable tour into the Okavango's Delta. In few hours I was into a real savana enviroment surrounded by a large number of different Africa's wild animals.. just the real thing. I couldn't have expected more!!

Great experience

It was a great experience, we have seen a lot of wildlife, hippo's and elephants very close buy. Only remark we had is that the locals do not get properly paid, we paid enough so please give the locals a good pay.

Extraordinary experience

I can't speak highly enough of the experience that Chris and his team (of Kalahari Breeze) provided me with on this tour. From the point of booking their cooperation was direct and clear, timekeeping was prompt and knowledge of wildlife seemed to have no end. Through my experience of this trip, these guys are clearly passionate about safari in this region. Thanks for a great day and excelling in the service provided!

A great delta experience

One of the nicest things you can do is a game view by Mokoro. The guide was knowledgeable and new his job. He went out of his way to accommodate us and ensure a positive experience. All in all it was a great day out. My only regret is that I didn’t do the three day two night Mokoro trip.

Very special tour

This was one of the best tours I have ever had! We had very peaceful canoe ride on the delta. Afterwards, we walked almost 3 hours on an island and spotted a lot animals. It was very special. The guides very nice and made the trip even more fun.

Relaxing mokoro cruise in the delta

An amazing experience. So peaceful being paddled through the delta, seeing an array of animals from a new perspective. Huge thanks to our guides Gerry and Vino, who I highly recommend - they managed to arrange a large herd of elephant to cross from island to island leisurely in front of our lunch spot (I joke, but they are almost that good)

Beautiful and peaceful delta trip

This was a great trip and included all transfers to the the mokoro station which also involved a fun speedboat there and a 4x4 jeep back. The day was very varied and the mokoro journey itself was very relaxing and peaceful and the local poler/guides were knowledgable. The views were beautiful and there was a variety of wildlife including many pretty birds and zebras. Lunch was prepared for us at a fairly basic camp but was tasty and the staff were very attentive. We were then taken on a bush walk to see zebras, elephants and reed buck which was a fun and different experience. Overall we would recommend this day trip but feel it is over priced for what it is. We also agree with the advice from the company that this trip should be accompanied with a game drive to Moremi to see a greater variety of wildlife.

Nice but a bit too costly

It was a beautiful and relaxing trip, but the guides didn't really tell us much and overall I felt it was a bit too costly for what we got.

Hastle free, door to door, beautiful day trip

Picked up at 7am (ish) from my hotel, taken to the delta area and then straight out on the canoe for a full day of animal spotting and exploring. Highly recommend

Great experience, great service, would recommend as an affordable way to see the Okavango delta.

Great experience. Staff are very friendly and provide brilliant and helpful service throughout the day. The mokoro, game drive and walking safari were all very enjoyable and a great way to see the delta. Extremely affordable too. Slight mixup with two vegetarians on the trip involving the lunch so if you have any dietary requirements it’s worth contacting to just check on what will be supplied for lunch. The operators handled the mistake very well to be fair.

Beautiful way to see the Delta

Super relaxing and a great way to really be immersed in the Delta. We had previously done a game drive with Kalahari Breeze the day before and it was a delight using them again for this Mokoro trip. Everyone was on time, polite, and made sure we were well informed of what was happening that day. I appreciated that it never seemed like they were trying to rush us ( on this trip or on the game drive) and really wanted us to see and do as much as we could during our trip. Also, pretty much all the guides and polers are locals who are pretty ready to answer any questions you have about wildlife, local life in Maun or anything else they can. Lovely trip!

It's really worth it

The trip was breathtaking! The nature is really beautyful and we saw a lot of animals aswell. Also all the guides were so kind and welcomed us warmly.

This was actually really cool!

Way cooler than I’d expected! My family of five did this canoe trip; 2 guests per canoe, with a “poler” in each. Floating gently through the reeds, we saw a couple dozen hippos, several elephants, and it was an easy three hours on the water, with a short hike and lunch in the middle.

Professionally run tour to the Okavango

It was a really enjoyable, competitively priced trip into the Okavango. We saw hippos, giraffes and zebras, and before we even reached the national park, an impressive herd of maybe twenty elephants. The mokoro is great and adds something different to the day. It's also a way to support the local community. We did a walking safari and the packed lunch was generous. Bruce organised everything for the day and did an excellent job. Our mokoro driver and hike guide knew a lot about the animals and the bush. Good to join tour for solo travellers too. It's easy to recommend this tour.

GREAT experience

We had our 1 day-trip with Kalahari Breeze just yesterday - and to sum it up: it was an excellent trip and Chris was extremely helpful and professional from beginning to end. Chris managed to get us into the delta the next morning at 7:30am, although we only called at 5pm and he had to make sure the park entrance was payed, organise our veggie lunch and everything else. We were collected at our B&B by Chris himself, than driven 1h in a Safari Vehicle to the Village were the Polers start with the small Boats - also extremely smooth and a really nice driver. Depending on the season and waterlevels this might even be yet another boat. When at the village, Chris cannot influence who will be the poler as the local Trustfund organizes the Poler who is "next on the list" - ours was pretty knowledgable though and we learned a lot especially during our lunchbreak on a small island where we saw Giraffes and Zebras just walking around next to us - really cool to see them by foot as opposed to a gamedrive vehicle! After the trip Chris invited us to a drink at his local bar and gave some really good advice about Botsuana and our potential next stays - thanks again, Chris! We ended the day with big smiles in our faces so absolutely recommended to book via Kalahari Breeze Safaris; everything well organised and easy, would totally do it again!

Great experience with awesome guides

We did the 1 day okavango delta mokoro canoe day trip. The guides were nice and knowledgeable. They had very accurate information about which bird flies and which does not. We’ve seen a lot of other animals like elephants, hippos, impalas and unicorns. Or maybe not the unicorns but the rest is accurate. Overall a great experience!

I had a good time with Kalahari Breeze Safari. The Okavanga Delta Tour with the “more modern” Mokoros was a great day trip. The pickup was on time and all guides, we had different ones, were very nice. I also liked the split between pick-up in the morning as a game drive and drop-off in the afternoon as a boot tour. What you need to know, is that the part of the Okavango Delta is handled by a third-party. Unfortunately, as a customer you also receive the feeling that the tour divided. I wished, the communication and working relationship between both parties would have been better. Please, provide also some food for the guides. I felt very bad, that we as customers had lunch whereas these guides just brought water with them. (a toast sandwich should be affordable). I shared my lunch with them. Moreover I hardly received any information about the country and the delta. Either you train the local guys more on that, which would be nice, or maybe think about bringing another person on tour or provide more details during our way to or back from the delta.

Amazing wildlife experience

The Mokoro trip was stunning. And i was lucky to find the guys from Kalahari Breeze bcs they have been the only company arranging a single trip for me. And it was not easy bcs covid. Thx for that guys👌🏿 The trip was amazing. I was impressed by all the wild animals. We came close to the elefants in the water but still with enough space to enjoy them only watching them eat. I felt safe all the time and i ll never forget this beautiful wildlife!

Excellent mokoro trip!

Had a great trip on the mokoro with a local guide called Elijah arranged through Kalahari Breeze. Great communication and planning from Chris and team to help us prepare (eg timings, what to bring etc). Was about 1 hour drive from the hotel to the village. At the village we were met by Elijah to go on the mokoro. On the way out (upstream) the mokoro ride was about 1.5 hours with a few hippo sightings along the way. It’s completely exposed so make sure bring sunscreen / long sleeves! Once we arrived at the island we did a walking safari / hike for about 3 hours. It was quite long in the brutal heat but well worth it as Elijah was able to show us elephants, giraffe and wildebeest - all from afar but still much more than we were expecting. We then had a quick lunch prepared by Chris and team and set off back to the village on the mokoro. The way back was quicker as downstream and just as well after a long day. We got back by about 3:30pm. Overall a great day out and way to experience the Okavango delta. Highly recommend!

AWESOMENESS GALORE!!!

One of the most amazing experience i have had! Friendly and fun Guides. They made my 1st Mokoro ride very relaxing and fun, for someone who is scared of "water" The view of elephants and hippos in the water sealed the deal for me. I would most definitely do it AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN!! Would i recommend it, OF COURSE YES!

Amazing. Breathtaking. Mind blowing experience. Chilled and Relaxing. A perfect getaway from home.

Canoing through elephants in the water and consequently the guide teaching us about animal behaviors,area vegetation, history of the area and short walks to the dryland for wild animal viewing. The guide is very experienced, patient and made the canoe boat ride feel like a speed boat drive😊 Driving through the bushy area to the buffalo fence was fantastic with Michael’s guide. It was quite hot for the day but Chris gave us travel tips in advance on what to wear to avoid sun burn in the area. His pre-event communication was second to none. Would recommend this escapade activity to a million other people.

Due to some internal miscommunication on the operators part, my tour nearly didn't happen. However, despite this they made every effort to make my experience worthwhile.

Okavango day trip

Awesome trip. Pickup was exactly on time and my poler (Emmanuel) was extremely competent. I felt that I was in safe hands with him and I learned a lot from him. The bush walk was also amazing and the lunch provided was very good.

Excellent communication with Kalahari Breeze Safaris. Very friendly and helpful staff. We really enjoyed our 1 day tour. All went like promised by the agency. We saw a lot of animals like hippos, elephants, zebras, buffalo, giraffes and many birds. Trip was worth the money.

Easy handling and always in support with the operator of the event. The service was excellent! The drive to the okavango delta was exhausting but a great experience. Staying in the mokoro and enjoing the nature of the okavango delta was the best! After that we enjoyed the walk through the bushes. Amazing tour! Thank you!
