Tour to Cuenca from Madrid: option of cathedral or Enchanted City

A most memorable day

The viewpoint over the canyon, the Enchanted City visit, the cathedral and town visit, the meal in Cuennca and the journey from and back to Madrid made this a wonderful days excursion. Thank you to Fernando for adding to the enjoyment of the trip and his excellent driver Jose.

Cuenca is awesome!

You must visit Cuenca. This city is so Beautiful and must be explored. Patti gave us a nice tour of Cuenca.

Enchanting Cuenca

Cuenca is very unusual & quaint with its natural rock formations. Although the trek through this city was tough with steps, uneven ground & pebbles, it was worth the effort to see unspoilt nature. Our guide, Fernando, was very humorous & informative which made this tour very enjoyable although initially we thought we had erroneously joined a Spanish speaking tour.

amazing place to visit

it was a very good day tour from Madrid. the tour was well organized. our tour guide Patti was excellent. she gave us a lot of information about the places we visited. I especially appreciated that she didn't neglect my friend and I, since we were the only two persons who don't understand Spanish. She explained everything in English to us. I highly recommend this day tour. Cuenca is an amazing place to visit.

Loved this tour! The city of Cuenca was beautiful and I loved learning about it. Our tour guide was great and very friendly and informative. Definitely would recommend seeing. Loved this tour better than some of the other tours of different cities around Spain.

Amazing experience

Have you heard of the expression of taking the shirt off your back? Well literally, Roberto our conductor did that for me. I was not prepared for the cold and wind and he gave me his jacket to wear under my very inadequate jacket. Who does that? Fernando was a great, knowledgeable, funny and compassionate with the older participants. For him, Cuenca is personal, being a native. I loved the size of the tour and the personable care of the experience. It was wonderful.

Hiking in the Enchsnted city and Cuenca .

The tour was fantastic , it was fun because the main tour is to the enchanted city which is a breathtaking national park . There is a beautiful 1.5h hike plus an amazing panorama before . Finally you head to Cuenca which is adorable and beautiful. The main sites like places mayor and the hanging houses are the main focus . One thing is that they offer an hour and half for lunch in the local restaurants. I just skipped it and saw the amazing views . Let me me say that Fernando our guide was so adorable and friendly and very knowledgeable. Amazing your guide .

Over priced, over rated hardly trip to Cuenca big lie

75 euro for trip over priced. Other people paid 59 euro with other tour groups. Didn't go to a winery as stated on tour. Got to Cuenca at 2:30 and forced to have 1 1/2 hour lunch. Tour of Cuenca started only at 4:00 pm. Given 20 minutes free time. Hardly saw any of the city at all. By then the sun was setting. We were on the bus by 6:00. We went on a small huje in the Enchanted City. Tour never mentioned anything about a hike. Very very disappointed 😞

Beautiful

Fernando was a great tour guide. Very funny and informative. He was entertaining and made a lot great jokes. However, the tour itself, I did not know that I signed up for bilingual when I had a choice to choose "English" as an option. Had I known, I would have found another tour that was only "English". Other than that, the tour was great. Cuenca and the Enchanted forest (a private property) was beautiful. I would recommend this tour.

Highly recommend

The guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. It's a long day but didn't feel as exhausting as some tours as it was well paced and allowed time for breaks (lunch, bathroom etc). Cuenca is a site not to be missed.

Great day trip from Madrid

Our guide, Fernando, was fantastic. He is knowledgeable, his English is excellent, and he is funny. He made this long tour very enjoyable. I am usually a DIY tourist but am very glad I took this tour. There is no way I could visit Cuenca and the Enchanting City on my own in one day.

Best Tour

Tour conducted in both Spanish & English. (two of us). Our guide was attentive & provided us with the same time explanation in English and Spanish. Provided with a bit of history spiced with storytelling. It was the best day guided tour by far im my stay here in Spain. Oh, the Enchanted Forest & Cuenca were really faboulos. If you're a keen amateur photographer there some great shots to be had.

Quite an experience.

The scene in the Enchanted City is very beautiful. Even though it was a foggy and rainy day, it gave me the sense of being in the wonderland. Our guide and driver were very helpful. My only reservation for this trip was those restaurants in Cuenca that our bus stopped nearly were all full when we arrived. We either had to wait for quite a while or took at least 20 minutes walk back and forth to the restaurants in the city centre.

Fernando was a wonderful guide…Answered all of our questions, informative and very polite and pleasant. The trip went like clockwork and covered everything described. I’m so glad to have enjoyed the hike in the enchanted forest, the day started cloudy, but then the sun came out and it was really pleasant and relaxing and beautiful. Cuenta is perched atop limestone ledge and it’s quite scenic and the hanging houses are so interesting to see. However, we were unable to go inside a Cuenca Cathedral as they closed early. Overall, an enjoyable tour with an excellent guide!

Amazing Day Tour

An amazing day tour and a must do while in Madrid. Visiting the hanging houses of Cuenca is unbelievable and then to walk through the Enchanted City Rock Formations is incredible. We had an excellent guide who was extremely knowledgeable with great information on both places. Unfortunately I do not recall his name for which I am sorry. Be warned there is a lot of walking so you need to have good footwear and be reasonably fit. It is a long day but the sites are well worth it.

Great tour !

Great trip! Fernando was very knowledgeable and informative. Just a heads up. You will be hiking in the Enchanted city. Wear appropriate shoes. Bring a jacket and umbrella.

Nice break

Highly recommend this day trip. Nice to get out of the city and back to nature. Very beautiful landscapes. Cuenca was also very interesting to walk around! Our guide and driver were very nice and knowledgeable. Great trip!

A lot of driving but Cuenca good, lunch too long perhaps but nice views. Enchanted forest pretty.

Best was walking through Curnca. Views and situation very special. Good guide but visit should have included cathedral with value added commentary. It was a shame we had to rush through cathedral with poor audio guide and inadequate time

Enchanted City was a delight!

The enchanted city was definitely the highlight of the day tour. Our guide Fernando was fluent in English that made the visit more memorable. Fernando and Julio, the driver were a great team. We got to Cuenca and back to Madrid on time without incident.

One of a Kind Tour

The tour of Cuenca & the enchanted city is a once in a lifetime experience. No other place in the world can compare. Fernando was the best tour guide I ever had. He describes different sites in a amusing and animated way, so knowledgeable.

MUST EXPERIENCE

Our tour guide Fernando was awesome, knowledgeable and very helpful! If you want to experience Cuenca, make sure you are wearing your most comfortable shoes and fit enough to walk and walk up and down and up again and again :) My suggestion to ALL tours is to please implement wearing a mask if someone is sick or coughing (we had a couple of them in the bus with us). Otherwise it was a very good experience overall!

A most though one day tour.. our guide Fernando Alonso is terrific. Made the whole trip enjoyable with his narrative and knowledge. Excellent job translating from Spanish to English as I am bilingual. Also gave a precise description of the restaurants available for lunch. I just wish there could have been some subtle reminder to tip him as a fair amount of people just left afterwards like avoiding to tip him. Good job. Five star rating.

The tour to Cuenca and the Enchanted city from Madrid was really excellent. I recommend this trip to any person who love nature and history.

Off the beaten track. In Spain

Enjoyed Cuenca and Enchanted City. Both were unique experiences. The Enchanted City is a site of prehistoric rock formations. Cuenca was formerly a Muslim city built into the cliffs and added to over the centuries.

Absolutely loved it!

Cuenca is breathtaking and I’m so glad I did it. The travelling from Madrid was a bit exhausting so I guess that was unavoidable but if do an overnight trip it might be more worthwhile. The enchanted city is nice but it’s really beauty of Cuenca that made the tour awesome!

Unforgettable

Our guide Fernando was amazing. Explained everything in detail. Sine he was a Cuenca native he knew everything there is to know about the area. Best trip we’ve been on since visiting Spain. Our bus driver Mario made us feel very safe on some hairy turns. This trip is a must do. If I could give 10 stars I would. Thank you Fernando and Mario.

Great tour of nature and a wonderful guide

The tour was great. I was not aware of all the wonders of the enchanted city. You should have pictures of the different rock formations in your information about the tour The tour guide Fernando was outstanding he provided much information about the city and Cuenca. He answered questions and was funny. Fernando was one of the best tour guides I ever had. If you review all the guides I have over many years he really stands out. He really loves his work and if showed.

Amazing natural formations, charming town of Cuenca, great guide, worth the money!

This tour was highlight of my Spain trip! Enchanted park has amazing natural formations. Cuenca town has a lot of charm, scenery is beautiful ! Our guide was Francisco-he is friendly, very passionate young man, you can see he loves his job! Lunch at Maison el Casar was delicious, served fast! Julio ( our bus driver) ,was friendly, expert driver. Tour involved a lot of walking, you need comfortable shoes.

The day trip to Cuenca...

The day trip to Cuenca was wonderful! Our tour guide name Fernando and our bus driver named Raúl were fabulous. Be prepared to do some walking, especially in the Enchanted City. Comfortable shoes and clothes are a must! Thank you!

Wonderful scenery

We really enjoyed seeing the Enchanted City national park, and our guide was friendly and informative. We got a little sunburned, but our guide did try to keep us in the shade as much as possible, which we appreciated. One thing that would have made it a 5 star experience would have been more room on the bus. It was a long ride from Madrid and the seats were very close together, which didn't leave enough leg room for tall people (5'10, 6').

THE BEST EXPERIENCE YOU WILL HAVE!

Victor and Fernando are the best! I will say, take your hiking shoes for ciudad encantada because it is definitely a hike. For the main city you can change your shoes. Take an umbrella also. They meet in front (not in the lobby) of Hotel Claridge and they won't go inside to check. The tour was great, the food amazing and the bus very comfortable. Overall, Cuenca and Enchanted city stole my heart thanks to Cuenqueando! Ventano del Diablo was breathtaking. I would take this tour again when I come back to Spain!!

Great day out

This was a great day made even better by our fabulous guide, Fernando who was very informative and funny. His English was excellent. We enjoyed every minute of this tour. Would recommend this to everyone. Cuenca is incredible with so much to see. This is a must do tour.

Just ok

The guide was amazing and the trip was ok. Not what we expected and what was described and that is why I sm only giving 3 stars. The description includes a winery to “sample local produce” - this did not happen and tour guide told me it was a TripAdvisor mistake in describing what to expect. The enchanted city tour was nice/interesting as was the medical town of Cuenca. However, It was not worth the $80+ per person.

Horrible experience ever in Madrid

They were not able to wait ( 15 min late)for me because my Uber was running late. I told them with time but they left us when I told them that I was my mom’s birthday present. When I called them, they hang out on me. Horrible people, worst experience.

Fantastic day trip from Madrid and a chance to see the enchanted city as well. (Which I knew nothing about, but thoroughly enjoyed). Tip: wear good shoes and bring a hat and sunscreen ☺️
