Horrible trip

Horrible trip. Very disorganized. Tour guide ran through Toledo, from point to point. If you did not run next to him, you would came to the stop right when he finished his 2 sentence intro and would have to run to another point. I have been traveling for the last 40 years . It’s the worst trip.

Find another touring company or do it yourself.

I've traveled to 36 countries with a multitude of touring companies, and this was my worst experience ever. The first stop at our destination, Toledo, was a gift shop (!) where we spent +1 hour. The tour guide in the city was dour and unpleasant, and abandoned us before taking us to the destinations in Toledo advertised. She also left us with inadequate instructions on how to return to the meeting point for the bus departure back to Madrid. Find another touring company or do your own research and buy a train ticket.

VPT should fire this tour guide who did not do her job at all!

The worst tour we have experienced! The tour guide, a young lady who did not say much in English. When she left us inside of Toledo; just told us to meet the bus at where we got off. We had no idea where it was. Luckily we got back to the area an hour earlier; finally found others were looking for the bus too! DO NOT USE VPT for your tour!!

The busy left promptly at...

The busy left promptly at 10. I enjoyed the panoramic views and stop for photos. I didn't think it was necessary to stop at the shop for a minimum of 20 minutes to provide the store sales. In addition, there was not enough free time to enjoy the sights as the bus left at 4:30 pm. Best to do the trip on your own, I think.

A escape from big city

This tour is perfect for people who want little guided tours and long free time. Bus was comfortable and punctual. Historical Toledo is good place to visit for a day from Madrid. Sadly we had a bad luck with weather and we couldn’t walk around the town.

POOR COMMUNICATION and this a self guided tour

I would not recommend this tour company to anyone as all you will be getting would be a bus ride to Toledo and most likely you will miss your return trip to Madrid. A bunch of us missed the return trip to Madrid due to poor communication by the tour guide. He gave us the wrong meeting point for the return trip to Madrid and subsequently we missed the bus due to the incompetence of the tour guide. All they do is give you a transportation and this is a self guided tour so be warned before you book the trip. SELF -GUIDED TOUR

Tour good, bus no good

Great tour, great guide. Bus though was terrible, dirty and seats ripped, temp was 40°c and NO air-conditioning on bus. Sitting on bus for 30mins before returning, bus showing 45°c.

Not worth it.

Went on this tour because the hostel I was staying at had it advertised. I decided to do the day trip for 25€ to Toledo. It said we see several places and was in Spanish and English. Anyway, would not recommend. The tour guide person sat at the very front of bus and was explaining what we were passing, nobody in back row could hear, and she was notified and said it's not her problem. I could barely understand anything nor was the day agenda told to us. We just showed up to a jewelry store. It was really weird and awkward. Nobody knew what was going on and Everyone was annoyed at our tour guide.

Toledo is great. But need more time to explore on your own.

My husband and I are Americans. We went to Spain for our June 2023 honeymoon and booked a day trip to Toledo with VPT. We did the later, 10 am departure and purchased the more expensive ticket that includes entrance to the tourist attractions.When I booked the trip, I thought that it would be an all-English tour. It ended up being a mix of English and Spanish. The tour guide would say everything in Spanish first and then in English second. We took a nice coach bus to Toledo. Once we arrived there, we sat in a parking lot and waited for about 30 minutes. I'm not sure why. It was never communicated. Once we got off the bus, we were shuffled into a metal-making gift shop. It sounded like VPT has an agreement with this business. We had to listen to their sales pitch and browse the gift shop for about 45 minutes in order to then use the bathroom. We were told that it would be our only bathroom opportunity because there aren't a lot of public bathrooms in Toledo. This didn't seem to be the case. As long as you purchased something, you could use the bathroom at many of the public eateries. After the group tour, my husband and I used our passes to get into the tourist attractions. The passes made it so easy to get into everything, but I'm not sure they were worth it. The attractions were small. We spent probably an average of 10-15 minutes in each. And after a while, the churches and mosques all start to look pretty similar. All in all, between the bus ride, the tour in multiple languages, and the gift shop, there was a lot of waiting around. We only had about two hours of time to ourselves in the city. We didn't get to stop and enjoy a sit down restaurant as we felt that we had to rush around to all the attractions. We would have liked to have had more time to ourselves. Side note: We visited on a religious holiday: Corpus Christi. This might have explained a lot of the hold up as there was a town parade and a lot of extra people in town. It was a very cool day to visit as a lot of the streets were decorated beautifully.

Recommended Toledo tour!

This was great excursion. Arrangements for departure from Madrid were easy: the arrival at Toledo with iconic views was very worthwhile. Our guide was helpful and informative and gave a great introduction to Toledo - this was our first visit. We opted into the cathedral tour once arrived. We had considered public transport options but are glad we chose this excursion that we fully recommend.

An inexpensive way of seeing Spain

I wanted to do a day trip somewhere from Madrid. I was going to take the train but it actually worked out cheaper booking this trip. Trip included air con bus, walking tour in English only & free time to explore. Walking tour was very fast in a busy spot & although it was fine for me, a lot of the group struggled to keep up

Town was lovely, tour was not.

The guide was nit clear about where to get the bus back. Therefore I andc5 other people missed it. They told us no more buses so we had to find our own way back.

Lady guide walked and...

Lady guide walked and talked too fast leaving behind those of us who struggled to keep up with the upward and downward alleyways. Admittedly we were 5 minutes late, and the bus left without us. All said, Toledo is worth every huff and every puff.

Skip it and take a different tour

We got the guided tour and it was impossible to hear any of the talk. I asked them to turn up the volume one the bus microphone but it didn’t work. There was a mandatory stop in a gift shop that took about 30 minutes. The walking tour was very basic and we could hear almost nothing because the guide didn’t have any microphone and the whole bus was with one guide. After all that, we only had about 2 hours to explore Toledo on our own.

Excellent Day in Toledo

Beautiful day in Toledo that included bus transportation, guided walking tour of parts of Toledo, bracelet to enter 7 different short exhibits/attractions, and guided tour of Toledo Cathedral. Ample free "on your own time." The only part that I think could be excluded is (prior to entering the historic center) the bus' first stop at sword/silver making factory. Otherwise very good value when you consider the cost of going to Toledo on your own via car, bus, or train.

Plan ahead for this trip.

The explanation of the cathedral only. The trip did not need to stop at that first place for people to look at those items. A bathroom can be found in town by stopping for a snack or drink. I would suggest the guide has maps highlighted with the added attractions some have paid for so they know where to find them. As well the meeting point. Toledo is a diff to to navigate and as much help is required.

Fantastic tour of the most historical city in Spain

This was a very memo trip. Value for the money is great. We included the Cathedral tour and the admission bracelets. I highly recommend these options as the tour was very detailed and informative, and the bracelet saved us a lot of time. Some of the sites are smaller so the bracelet allowed us to hop in and out quickly. Our tour guide was trained in art history and provided us a lot of insight we would not have known otherwise.

Excellent Day trip. The trip was educational in the morning and leisure in the afternoon, ideal to taste the excellent food served in Toledo.

Holy Toledo!

The perfect day trip to take a break from Madrid. An hour's drive by coach, a walking tour and then ample time to grab lunch, marvel at the interior of the Cathedral and still have time to wander and get lost in the narrow alleys of this UNESCO town. Lovely arrangement.

Toledo is full of history and amazing sights. Took the full day tour and it was just the right amount of time to spend there.

A terrible day

We went for the half day Toledo walking tour. The tour guide told us to go back to the morning drop off location after the self walking tour to take the VPT bus at 4:15pm to return to Madrid. When we got back to the pickup location at 4:00, we saw the bus was leaving the pickup location. We thought the bus was to make a round and came back. We waited till 5:00pm and finally had to take the ALSA Madrid direct with others to go back to Madrid. We regret using this tour company.

We booked us last minute and so glad that we did! Value for the money was superb. I was skeptical that the tour was going to be given in both Spanish and English. The tour guide did a great job toggling between the two languages and it was wonderful.

Fun and interesting

The guide Olga was very charming and nice, she explained all the most important parts of the city in a concise and interesting way. It was fun and educational! We definitely recommend the tour with Olga!

Holy Toledo

The zip line over the Tagus river which flows all the way to Lisbon and out to the Atlantic Ocean. The guide allowed plenty of free time and showed us a lot of places.

Terrific Toledo

We found the office to check in easily, but they were closed when we got back. Nice driver. Good bilingual tour guide. If they take you to the sword factory to use the restroom, wait until you get into Toledo to buy stuff. I paid extra for the master quality bracelet and it broke before the end of the trip. Be ready to walk uphill at a good clip! The guides are in great shape and go quickly. I have a bum leg and missed a lot of info. Get a sample of marzipan before you buy it. We found it bland and overpriced. We ate at Trebol and loved it! Delicious food and wine!

it was good to explore toledo as there's few hours of free time. Also, the tour guide gave us quick history about toledo which was nice to hear.

Toledo a beautiful and impressive city to visit. The guide did a good job despite the number of people he had in charge of him. and he explained to us in two languages ​​the history of Toledo. Despite his efforts, it was becoming difficult to hear. I recommend for future audio system. As in another excursion that we went to in Spain.

Very disappointing tour to Toledo

Based on the reviews I thought this would be the perfect tour for us. Unfortunately it turned out to be a terrible experience and didn’t get to see much of Toledo. Our first stop was at a factory and a waste of time. Our large group of 30 was divided into English speaking and Spanish speaking for this factory tour only. I wouldn’t exactly call it a tour in that we saw one room where someone was heating up iron and another room where someone was creating something. Even our divided group was too large for the small space and we couldn’t hear the English guide. Wasn’t until they took us to their showroom to make purchases that we figured out what they made. Best part of this stop was getting to the restroom. We made a brief stop to take pictures of the Toledo city from up on the surrounding hills. I think our guides name was Rachel but Im not sure She did a great job in switching her communication between English and Spanish but that was the only thing she did well. We got to Toledo. Bus dropped us off and we were told we would learn later where the pickup point was going to be. Rachel took off with our large group of 30 at a break-neck speed. She had on a mobile microphone but she was so far ahead of us we couldn’t hear anything. She did not slow down or check to see if all the members of the group were together. At times she was easily 120 meters ahead of us and there was one time we couldn’t see where she had gone. Finally, when she stopped she said we were now on our own and tried to explain where we were to meet our bus. Everyone was confused on her directions and it was obvious we were not the only people upset with her service. I thought this tour would provide us with a map and show us where things were and recommend to us the best things to do on our free time. We got none of this. I actually had to find an information center to get a map. We were so concerned about finding our way back that we didn’t even have time to stop and see some of the sites. I’ve been on many Viator tours and this was the worse I’ve ever been on. It was a waste of time and money. We did not receive the tour as described.

Toledo is a beautiful city and has lots of history. Our experience was excellent, fast, and secure. We recommended it.

Great guide, bilingual and very clear. The one suggestion is to make the map clearer for the final meeting point. It was not clear at all where to meet.

Would recommend this day trip

I liked that the bus took us around Toledo before going into the old city for some wonderful views. The stop at the factory was interesting but the guide voice was ver quiet and difficult to hear.The guide was very good and exceptional in transferring from Spanish to English so efficiently.

Excellent tour, great guide. There was enough time to see everything and plenty of free time to explore. Would definitely recommend a full-day since there's so much to see in Toledo.

For Spanish speakers great otherwise not good.

For my needs, this was not a good tour. For others, it might be a good value because you get a mostly Spanish walking tour and a vista view included. Multiple tours together with one tour guide who spoke mostly in Spanish and even with a microphone I couldn't hear her unless I was near her when she spoke because she was ahead of the large group. I would have rather just a drop off in the city so I could have more time to explore (definitely needed) or utilize local guides to get more information.

Lovely Day Trip. Bus was comfortable. Tour Guide was informative. Schedule was well planned enough for seeing toledo. Office for ticket pickup and gathering point wasnt far from the center of Madrid which is good.

Lousy tour Guide barely spoke English. Tour was only 1 hour with the rest of the time you wereyour own. own.

I loved this trip! The bus was comfortable, the guided walking tour was informative and the guide was nice, and it was so nice to explore Toledo for the rest of the day at my own pace. It was such a beautiful town and I would definitely do this tour again.

A fascinating beautiful city, would highly recommend

My husband and I loved Toledo. Our tour guide was lovely, she had a polite positive manner. The quick bus ride around the city was the perfect way to start the day and get a sense of the city as a whole. It is very beautiful. The steel and gold crafts factory was really special too. Then Toledo the city itself was fascinating, with far too much to do in one day. A perfect day and great value for money.

Great value for money! Would definitely recommend this day trip from Madrid. Olga was an excellent guide who shared just the right amount of information on both the panoramic tour (from the bus) and the walking tour through the old town. Definitely worth it!

Horrendous experience

Avoid like the plague. The infornation on where to go to get the bus back to Madrid was very unclear. By luck we managed to find the bus and get on moments before it left, but shockingly a few people were left behind. Even though we informed the bus driver and told him where the other people were, he showed no empathy and made no effort to get to them, even though they were very close. The tour was hasty, not very engaging and the guide didn't take us to the Alcazar which is the main attraction. They also took us to a shop with tourist trinkets and we were forced to stay there for at least 30 minutes. They pretended it was a "factory" so that they could justify the stop but that was evident nonense as we didnt see anything being produced and it was clearly just a tourist shop.

Jesús is the best guide to be found in Toledo!

Lots of very interesting facts of the city. The guide was not only informative but also very positive and enthusiastic. He made time for pictures and helped us find a good location to eat.
