Spanish Cooking Class: Paella, Tapas & Sangria in Madrid

Incredible experience. Shopping locally for ingredients with a history of the area was very interesting, paella was absolutely delicious too.

Delicious cooking course

This was a superb 4 hours. Really enjoyed it and Elisa was fabulous with our 11 year old. Can’t recommend this enough. Also a bit of interesting market visits and history of the does and don’ts of Paella

Great class and instructor!

Our class was so great! The food and sangria came out very well and our teacher (Eduardo) was kind and very well-versed in Madrid’s history and culture. The trip to the market was fun as well- even in the rain.

Chef Eduardo for the win!

This was truly a highlight to our visit to Spain. After walking around the local markets and purchasing all ingredients and supplies, you return to the cooking site for a fun interactive time of instruction, discussion, and hands on paella discovery! A note from one of the girls - don’t do this hungover. The authenticity of the meat market and need to pop off the shrimp heads/brains is not a good call after a night out of clubbing. 🤣 However she was the exception! Eduardo was a fun and informative chef and teacher. Hope his phone rings during your class - the ring tone is not to be missed! From start to finish this was an immersion into Spanish culture and should be a part of your trip.

Fun foodie experience for all ages

My daughter (18) and I loved our experience with Eduardo. The 4 hours started with an educational shopping trip to the market next door to pick up fish, meat and vegetables. Our group of 12 was comprised of a family of three teens, and a few parent - daughter combinations. Eduardo was very patient and showed us all the various steps in preparing sangria, gazpacho and paella. The skill levels were quite different, yet he was very patient. He was also very accommodating to the different dietary needs of the group. Eventually, the food turned out excellent and we have some great memories to go with it. Highly recommend for people of all ages and skills!

Best cooking experience in Spain

The best cooking experience we had in a trip! As a family we love to cook and every time we travel we book cooking classes to go deeper into the culture of the place. This time we had our best experience with Eduardo in his Cooking Point school. He is an amazing teacher that walked us through the Spanish culinary with knowledge and enthusiasm. We went to the market with him to buy super fresh ingredients - super interesting. We were in 5 with kids ranging from 9 to 16 and all of us were able to have an amazing hands on cooking experience. The infrastructure of Eduardo’s school is great. We really loved the experience an recommend it 100%!

A most enjoy meal

Not only did we learn to cook delicious tapas, we learned and sang a Spanish song, shared stories with group and ate a fantastic meal. Teresa is a marvelous teacher who made the evening lively and fun.

A wonderful introduction to Spain

What a wonderful introduction to Madrid and Spain. Learnt so much as we went to the market to buy ingredients. I'll certainly be making Sangria and gazpacho for family a friends as well as the delicious Paella.

Our family had a magnificent evening with Eduardo. Learning the history of traditional Tapas and how to prepare them was definitely a highlight of our trip. My kids have asked many times it I remembered to keep the recipes. We can't wait to try these at home!

Great Experience

We truly enjoyed our experience. Angel was amazing. He was knowledgeable, witty, and excellent chef. His instructions were clear and easy to follow. We learned so much about the cuisine of Spain and the history of it as well. I would definitely recommend.

Awesome!

This was so fun!! Absolutely loved it, going to the market and learning so much from Eduardo!! I highly recommend if you have time. We made sangria, paella and gazpacho! Super full after. Do not eat breakfast and just be prepared for a great meal after!

A great fun evening

We had a wonderful evening making Tapas at Cooking Point. Eduardo was a great teacher and made everything seem logical and straightforward ... even for someone like me, who isn't normally confident in the kitchen. We had a nice group of people in the classroom. Eduardo made it such a fun night, while also giving us lots of help and advice. Of course the best bit was eating everything at the end. I will definitely me making my own Sangria now!

Fun and family friendly

This was a good experience! We cooked a lot of different tapas with sangria and received recipes to bring home. Our host was awesome- very patient and gave us recommendations of things to do in the city during our stay!

Great experience

What a great choice! Loved the entire experience from shopping at the market to cooking and eating. I went on my own and got partnered with someone who ended up being from my home town.

Best Cooking Class ever!!!

Highly recommended!!! I had soooo much fun taking this cooking class. Chef Eduardo really went above and beyond to explain each recipe and guide us. He has so much experience and love for his job. Chef Eduardo gave us so many tips and stories behind each ingredient and place where we went to buy fresh ingredients for our cooking class. I appreciate the dedication and professionalism. I didn't want this class to end! I had sooo much fun. Thank you for everything and for sharing your passion with us! 🤝🏼🫶🏼

Great way to spend an afternoon in Madrid

Great food, easy to follow instructions and lots of sangria. Probably not great for kids who have no experience cooking.

Spanish cooking class with Cooking Point

Eduardo was fantastic! Kind, patient, and professional during our culinary adventure in Madrid. The local market was the perfect first stop to see how the locals shop and buy their food. Then back to the kitchen to begin preparing our sangria, gazpacho and paella all were amazing! Our three children (14, 12 and 9) enjoyed the entire experience! Would highly recommend!!

Super fun experience

This class was so fun. I highly recommend it!!! It was really interesting to first go to the market to pick out our ingredients. Alisa was a fantastic teacher. Everything we made was delicious.

Great Experience!

Eduardo was a wonderfully patient and accommodating teacher. His trip with us to the markets was interesting and informative. We learned how to make a really good paella and delicious traditional sangria, among other items. I personally learned to broaden my palate by trying squid and gazpacho! These recipes are coming home with me!

Absolutely wonderful experience!

Absolutely wonderful experience! Everyone had a great time, we learned a lot not only about cooking but also about the Spanish culture...going to the market to select the items we were going use really made the experience even better...we all became friends by the end of class.

Don’t miss this cooking class

So much fun! Anjelo was an excellent teacher and also very engaging. We made 5 tapas and sangria and then enjoyed our creations with the class. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Loved this Activity

Thankyou Eduardo for a fabulous evening, cooking at your school. This was entry level cooking with some really good information shared by Eduardo on all questions we had about Spain, olive production, the food we cooked had some great local products in that He knew all about. We are from New Zealand and felt this was sick good value for money, we ate the food we made, bottomless Sangria was great too. A Must do if you have a spare night in Madrid.

Cooking Point is a great choice!

Eduardo and staff have organized an informative, fun, truly hands-on cooking experience, ending with a delicious tapas meal made by participants, with Eduardo's guidance. We prepared several traditional tapas, sangria, and a custard desert. I will return for the paella class next time I am in Madrid. The groups are small, and it was delightful to meet fellow travelers from around the globe. I highly recommend!

Best part of our trip

Best part of our trip. Our instructor discussed many of the ingredients relationships to Spanish cuisine. Very surprised to learn how complex some of the common tapas items are to make . Excellent meal at the end. A must do.

Just do this!!!!!

This experience exceeded my expectations by a mile. Elisa was the perfect guide. She combined her knowledge of history, culture, and food and presented information perfectly. She was incredibly organized and handled the class beautifully. What made the cooking experience even more enjoyable were the trips to the markets to choose the meat, seafood, and vegetables that were to make up our meal. We were even given the recipes we used to make our fabulous meal. I cannot recommend this experienced more highly.

Fun and educational!

I have taken both the paella class in 2023 and the tapas class this spring. We not only learned to cook the recipes, but also learned the history and place of origin of the dishes. Both times, the chefs were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was excellent and we had a lot of fun cooking and meeting people from around the world. Well worth the price!

A must do in Madrid

Angel was wonderful! He did a fabulous job of explaining the cooking techniques and kept us all entertained with personal anecdotes and great tips on preparing tapas. The dishes were delicious and easy to prepare. It was very hands on, even getting to use the blow torch to carmelize the sugar on the custards. A great time was had by all. The sangria was definitely flowing which added to the festivity.

A must-do in Madrid!

Teresa was a great host! She was so informative and related with the entire group very well. We had a wonderful time going to the market, making the sangria and gazpacho and then finally, the paella. So delicious!

Best tour in Madrid

This was our last “tour” in Madrid and it was the BEST! The chef was entertaining and informative. She put everyone at ease whether you were the cook in your home or not. The tapas we made were delicious. Be prepared to take leftovers home! Everything was well laid out and the 4 hours flew by. Do the tour…you won’t regret it!

Super enjoyable experience

We took the evening tapas class and had an amazing time. There were 12 students total and an instructor who did a great job keeping the class organized. She explained the history of each dish and guided us through making them. The students are paired up to share a cooking station, but the whole group interacts and has fun together. There was a lot of food and it was all delicious. Definitely recommend!

Paella Cooking Class

Fabulous cooking class ... I had so much fun and the end result was delicious. I would highly recommend this genuinely Spanish cooking experience.

Fun, tasty, great activity with kids!

It was a splendid few hours spent in Madrid. I was with my girls (10 & 13). The class was in pair. My 10-year old has non-dairy diet. They have prepared different ingredients sets for her and she was very proud that she made the 7 dishes on her own! I am very thankful. Teresa is terrific. Always attentive to everyone, teaching us how to make tapas in passion and with laughs. She also educated us from which Spain regions the ingredients come. The sangria was a blast! It was an absolutely wonderful evening we spent there!

Vibrant, educational, fun & delicious!

We had a wonderful time! Teresa was so energetic and vibrant and taught us so much about Spanish cuisine. The paella turned out delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed the cooking. We also left with lots of other great recs in Madrid. I would take another class with her if I had time!!

Amazing Spanish cooking class experience!

Our first time in Spain and this cooking class was amazing! Eduardo was so nice and very knowledgeable about the food, culture and how to properly prepare our dishes. We had a great group that was small and intimate which we prefer. I loved going to the market where we picked up fresh ingredients for our class. Eduardo educated us on everything, we learned so much! What a fabulous experience…we will tell everyone about it!

Drink the sangria early and often!

Angel was an amazing chef and trainer. My wife and I enjoyed the entire experience from the shopping to the prep , to the cooking to the devouring of the food and sangria. Met some wonderful new friends along the way

Amazing Experience!

Date of event: Friday, April 26th Chef: Alicia (?) What a great experience! The highlight of our 3 day stay in Madrid. She was full of information and funny as well - from the trip to the market to buy ingredients to the finale of eating & drinking our creations! Paella, Gazpacho, and Sangria. She talked about the history, the process, with some cool cooking tips! The Kitchen was super clean we had an awesome time! Highly recommended!

Super fun

We did the night time class which was Tapas and Sangria’s. We learnt a lot of had a lot of fun. I felt at times we could have gone a little faster as it was about 4 1/2 hours long by the time we a lot ate. Overall, super fun experience.

Great time, not to be missed!

Outstanding time! Great people, great food, conversation and the highlight of our trip to Madrid! Elisa was very knowledgeable and included bits of history behind the dishes that we were making and ultimately eating/sharting as a group. We did the paella class and plan to do the tapas class the next time we are in Madrid. The class is limited to 12 people at a time, which is a perfect number, so book early to ensure you have a spot!

Fantastic local cooking class

Teresa was a spectacular chef and teacher! She kept all 12 people entertained and busy. She made everything seem simple and gave great advice. The food came out superb and after several hours of enjoyable cooking we ate our own creations and they were the best tapas we had while we were in Madrid! Highly recommend.

Excellent, highly recommended

Combining the market tour and cooking class made for a superb experience. Eduardo is clearly passionate about providing us with a fabulous experience as well as much appreciated insights into Spanish cookery and culture. The cooking class itself was extremely well run with a seamless transition into the subsequent dining experience. The virtually unlimited Sangrias did not hurt the experience either!

Chef Angel made the whole experience memorable. Going to the market to pick up ingredients added to the cooking experience. It was fun to be with a great group of varied people and made the class enjoyable since everyone was open, animated and fun. We even ran into a few classmates at the musculature on in the day. Such a fun way to spend a morning on vacation! We loved getting to visit the market to gather ingredient for the paella - and we learned so much. The dishes came out amazing, can't wait to make everything at home! Definitely would recommend!
