Segovia Afternoon Tour with Cathedral from Madrid

A trip spoilt by the rush

The tour is far too rushed. No time to have a drink and enjoy the surroundings. Plus the tour guide didn’t wait outside the castle as promised and so we had to find our own way back to the bus.

Don’t bother with this tour

I would not do this tour again. I’m rating it a 3 because our tour guide was so nice, informative, and amazing. However, the company’s handling of this tour was not good. We had an afternoon tour at 3pm and we were to merge with another tour that was coming from Toledo. The tour office refused to let us use the bathroom when we arrived to the offices 15 minutes early for that exact purpose. They had no solution and we had to run to a bathroom somewhere else and then run to get our seats on our hour-long bus ride. They rushed us on the bus and then made us wait 30 extra minutes because the other bus was running late. This resulted in a tour marathon, where we barely had time to use the bathroom and had no free time as opposed to having 30 minutes of free time as the tour indicated. Only good thing about this tour was our tour guide.

Segovia was gorgeous!

Well organized, informative and fun! This was not something we would have done on our own, so the group tour was the way to go. Beautiful city, learned a lot and had time to sample local goodies. Worth it for sure!

Short visit but lovely

Seeing the city, the Roman Aqueduct, the Cathedral. I think a longer and more detailed visit would have been better, if time had allowed. I also would have liked more information about the countryside between Madrid and Segovia.

Too fast paced- no time to enjoy Segovia.

Segovia is a charming town but this tour needs to expand to a full day. No time to enjoy old town for even an ice cream or coffee - barely time to take a photo if you wanted to keep up. Guide should have warned at the cathedral of long up/downhill walk. No rest facilities available during entire trip - bus should have stopped at a rest area in both directions. Also, the bus was dirty.

The tour was amazing the castle is awe inspiring the only observation is that the guide had our group literally running to keep up it felt rushed and gave 5 minutes to view the castle and then rush to the cathedral If you were to add an hour to the tour it would a perfect 10

Not what we paid for

The setting was beautiful but the bilingual tour was not what we paid for. We wanted an English tour. Switching back and forth between languages was confusing and annoying. Our guide was knowledgeable, but we couldn’t focus on her words.

Not as advertised. No English speaking guide. Cut the duration of the tour!

I do not recommend this tour. It was advertised as a 5 hour tour conducted in both Spanish and English. Our tour guide Delphina spoke almost no English. She was not able to understand or answer any of my questions. 90% of the walking tour was in silence. She basically was just a person showing us the way to the Segovia castle, no history, no information from Delphina. In the castle the group was passed to another guide who spoke better English, but the information was poor. He tried to make jokes mostly. On top, they cut the tour from 5 hours to 3 hours. We ended up spending only one hour in Segovia, and were told to meet by the bus at 6.15 ( 3 hour mark from when we left Madrid). When I asked why the tour is so short, I was told it all depended on the bus schedule… I ended up not leaving Segovia with the bus tour and staying, I left on a train later. When I asked for a refund of this mediocre experience, my request was rejected. Overall, Segovia is a beautiful town with lots of history and I wish I had a better tour guide. This felt like a rip off (paid about 60 euros). I recommend using a different tour for Segovia experience!

Good tour. Nice town. More free time would be nice

Nice tour. Knowledgable guide. We had Maria. I did find it a bit hard to tell when she switched to English, but overall she was a great guide, very pleasant. Would have been nice to have a full hour or maybe a bit more time to explore the town. We really only went in one shop and a cafe.

Great tour and guides!

Great tour! Carlos was fantastic and Lola at Alcazar was great! Very interesting, town, aqueduct, castle were worth seeing. So glad we included this on our short stay in Madrid. Highly recommend.

Great afternoon activity

Great way to see Segovia for an afternoon without the stress of figuring out how to get there yourself. Highly recommend!

What a great tour! The guide was super knowledgeable, very entertaining and kept the group together. This 5 hour tour was perfect for me as I didn’t have a long time to spend and can get bored on longer tours. They ran on time and were very efficient, Segovia itself is stunning and should be on any itinerary. The aqueduct is a serious feat of ancient human innovation and engineering. A great experience. Thank you! .

Fun Time

Segovia was so beautiful! Our tour guide, Karlos, was awesome! He didn’t miss a beat and had lots of good info. We had a blast and would highly recommend!

Fun visit to Segovia

Carlos was brilliant. (He told us to write this - just joking). His knowledge was superb and so was his delivery. Segovia was a magnificent place to visit. The aqueduct was extraordinary, but it’s what we’ve come o expect from those amazing Roman engineers. A great afternoon made even more fun by Carlos’s sense of humour!

Much to be desired from the guide

Half day tour to Segovia with English guide included a guide who was learning to speak English. Really commendable to learn a new language and being good at it but not for a paid tour where tourist are expecting a professional guide to explain, inform. During the walking tour/ alcazar tour, she spoke for barely 20% of the time and rest of the tour was in silence. Information provided was limited to what you can get through 2 mts of web search, didn’t have much historical knowledge either.

Disappointing

The trip was very disappointing due to the fact that not all the audio devices worked. The tour guide said it was the batteries that weren’t working. I was one of the unfortunate ones who did not get a working audio device. The guide told me to share a device with my husband. Have you ever tried to share a headphone with someone while walking? It is impossible!! So consequently I missed all of the historic part of the tour. Please in the future check your devices for batteries before you start the tour!!

Tour of Alcazar of Segovia

The castle Alcazar of Segovia was the highlight. Everything was a bit too fast on the tour. The view of the castle Alcazar of Segovia in the ads, including Viator asking for this review, was not possible in the tour. The view of the castle outside was from the opposite side of the castle from what is show in the ads. In the Alcazar of Segovia, it was great. And the town of Segovia was quite nice.

Great place but your was less than average

Segovia is beautiful. 1/2 a day is fine. You need to wear comfortable shoes the streets are cobblestone. Bring water you’ll need it. They sell it on the bus but it’s not cold. We had several issues. Our group was bilingual- the people on the bus. And so are we. It’s a benefit and a curse. Our tour guide had tech issues and the required headsets did not work. I could live with that. But it was disheartening how little the guide knew about where we were, and the descriptions we were getting of the different places. I don’t need that there was a significant amount of information that was lost when translated into English. That’s in addition to describing certain rooms with incorrect room names. The tour guide was absolutely nice and kind, but not knowledgeable.

Half day tour does not provide enough time to enjoy calm and beautiful Segovia town!!

The tour guide was not explaining things in detail!! Also, we booked the half-day tour and the time provided was not enough to spend the time in the town. I highly recommend booking the full-day tour to have more time explore the beautiful town vibe.

A beautiful trip

I'm so glad I chose this tour, it was worth every penny. The option they give to either go off alone or stay with the group should be explamore. If you go off by yourself I don't think you will be able to get into the castle or hear all of the interesting facts about Segovia, or that if you touch that wall you could be fined. Our English guide was amazing, the trip was amazing. I would suggest providing at least one or two bottles of water per person as it was soo very hot. The bus was clean, seat belts work, ac was great, you need a converter box to charge electronics. I walked from my hotel using my GPS but didn't find the office I saw the busses and ran to all of them asking 🙃 for help. After the third bus I saw another bus on the side and was so relieved that it was my bus. My suggestion here is to place a placard that says Viator Segovia trip. Overall well planned trip. Thank you!!

Great Guide!

Alex was a great guide. He did a great time explaining the alcazar and speaking in Spanish and English.

A nice afternoon

Alex was a great guide. Seeing the Alcazar room by room was great. The only thing I would change would be to visit the Cathedral.

Great experience for the young and old

Wonderful experience for young and old. I'm in my upper 70's and went with family members ages 15, 18 and 38. We all had very positive things about our excursion . It was educational yet fun.

Fast and furious

Your ended up on 30 min early then we’re advertised. To make that happened tour guide run through the city and we are as seniors had a hard time to keep it up. On top of that guide talked in Spanish on every stop around 3-5 mins and in English only for 1 min. That was unfair for English speaking tourists- they were deprived from receive historical information

Awful experience

Trip was canceled due to not enough people booking (totally understandable) however we weren't notified until we checked in to the tour, 15 min before departure (unacceptable). As this tour left at 3PM, it resulted in us pretty much without an alternative to do something else that day. No shortage of ours to Segovia, I would 100% choose another company.

Beautiful Segovia

Great tour, but felt a little rushed. I think they need to add an hour to the tour to allow some free time to explore the city center on your own.

Average

Segovia is a beautiful town. This was a large tour with 40+ people. I wish I knew that when I booked the English tour, I would be only one of four in the group of forty who spoke English. The tour was fine half in Spanish and half in English. Not my favorite tour. I think we would have been happier exploring Segovia on our own.

Only if in a hurry

If you want to cover a lot in very little time, take this tour. Otherwise, take the full day tour in each city. You’ll appreciate each city more and will not feel hurried.

Something not to miss

Great tour operators in the reception and our bus. We missed our booked tour to Toledo and Segovia, by 3 minutes. They were very helpful and put us on Segovia and Avila, so glad wonderful, interesting g and informative.

Waste of money

I booked the tour in Spanish as I’m here to improve and practise. Unfortunately, there were not enough people for it and the tour was in English. But your guide didn’t give much information on the way to Segovia. Once were there we had only 30 minutes of free time. It was a very hot day and all the other tours I have been on offered cold water. This tour wanted to charge us €1 for it. The information we were given in the Ikezawa was something I could have got on my own. I was expecting some anecdotes. I regret booking this tour and wish I had taken the train to Segovia and taken myself to the Alcázar and around the town instead. Such a waste of money.

Segovia

We took the half day afternoon trip to Segovia 11/16/20. Everything was on time and smooth. We really didn’t need the guide as she gave very little information especially once we were in the town. We walked to the Alcazar and she gave us our tickets and said meet at the bus @6:30. It would’ve been nice to have a guide inside the castle but it was fine. Just FYI if you go in the winter it is much colder and windier in Segovia than Madrid!! Seems expensive just for the bus ride there.

Segovia

We thought we were getting an English tour, instead we got mostly Spanish, with some English, so translating in 2 languages took toomuch time. We were 1/2 hour late waiting for the Toledo people, but got no extended time in Segovia. It was too rushed and the tour guide should have guided us back to the bus, we got lost and only found our way because we saw the Cathedral spire.

The tour guide was great. He spoke very well in both Spanish and English. Segovia was beautiful and enjoyed the castle tour. Had a great time!!

Three's a charm!

Being able to visit three of Spain's top treasured sights in one day is as the Spaniards say, "honey on the lips." It's only an appetizer of the many marvels found in each location but definitely worth it if short on time. See the Roman aqueduct in Segovia and the often referred to as Disney's castle-- the Alcazar. Visit the magnificent library and royal mausoleum in El Escorial. Be amazed by the labyrinthine streets of ancient Toledo and its spectacular cathedral. Well worth the full day of magnificent sights!

Lovely city - late arrival meant rather rushed guided tour

As above - there was lots to see and the guide was mostly good (although the proportion of Spanish to English was about 70% to 30% and sometimes he was hard to follow). Being a Sunday, there were large crowds and it was very hot, so we did not complete the tour.

Could not recommend vpt as a tour company!

Segovia was great and beautiful! Tour bus driver was late, we were late leaving the city and tour was very rushed! Very little time to explore the city due to poor planning and timing.

Great half day!

Our tour guide was wonderful. She was very thoughtful and spoke both Spanish & English very well. The trip is 1 hour 15 minutes via bus (no bathroom on the bus), the ac had some trouble keeping up with the 100 degree day but not uncomfortable. Once we got to Segovia, we walked for an hour seeing the different sites. It has a lot of uneven walkways and a pretty busy area. Great history throughout the town and our tour guide kept a good pace. You have time at the end for food and then the 20 minute walk back through the town to the bus. There are limited bathrooms but there is one at the beginning at the info office. We really enjoyed our trip!! We left Madrid at 3pm and returned at 8pm.

Fantastic

Our tour girl did a great job in both English and Spanish. The buses were comfortable and the drivers were friendly. Segovia is spectacular, same thing for the Escorial. We had a great time!

Fue un tour muy...

Fue un tour muy apresurado. La Guia dejó personas atrás, no detenía para verificar el estatus del grupo. Estaba lloviznando, lo cual pudo cambiar la rutina del tour, sin embargo con mayor razón pienso que se debió tener mayor atención a las necesidades del grupo como comprar sombrillas (habían niños) mucha gente en la calle con paraguas que era fácil pederse.

El Tour Perfecto Si No Dispones de Mucho Tiempo

Un tour perfecto para los que no disponen de todo el dia. Nuestro guía (Jose Luis) fue increíble y nos hizo sentir como parte de su familia. El trato a nuestros niños de 2-3 años fue a otro nivel, un cariño y paciencia que pocos tienen. Vimos todo En poco tiempo y ta quedan ganas de volver con más tiempo. Definitivamente lo recomiendo 100%
