Terrible experience!

Terrible! The guides didn’t show up at the time set in the booking. We had to buy our own tickets to do the visit without the support of any guide.

Great overview with enough explanation of the main works

Excellent counterpart to Prado. Significant works by Avant Garde and Surrealists leading to the main attraction "Guernica". Our tour guide gave a thorough overview and great explanations for many of the main works. No tour like this can cover every work but we got a very satisfying overview.

Exceptional

Elena, our guide, was Fantastic! We really appreciate her knowledge and great communication! So glad we took the tour for both museums and got to see some world famous art!

Great insight into treasures of the Prado

This was a great introduction to the treasures of The Prado. Javier was an excellent guide. He was welcoming, informative and amusing. I was very impressed with how he ensured that everyone could hear him, including one member of the group who was deaf. He was also attentive to the young boy in the group, pointing out things of relevance and interest. Javier answered all my questions. I learnt a lot

Our tour of Reina Sofia Museum.

Our tour guide Borge, was phenomenal. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and art work. Also incredibly patient with others that were not very amicable.

Best tour ever in Madrid

The tour at Museo del Prado was amazing! We spent there two hours and we’ve seen the most famous operas. Thanks to our guide Borja we’ve enjoyed every moments. He was an exceptional guide and I would recommend him because he adds something more to your tour.

Ótima guia Helena Del Pozo!

I really liked the guide Helena Del Pozo during our visit to the Queen Sophia Museum. She was extremely friendly and seemed to know the works she was talking about. She gave us interesting details about the visual artists and their creations. And, most importantly, she sought to address everyone in the group when she exposed her knowledge. Congratulations!😘❤️👏

A great cultural day in Madrid

This was a terrific two part tour. Our guide Helena Del Pozo spoke excellent English and, most importantly, brought the art to life with her amazing knowledge and understanding of the art and artists. We loved both tours. The meeting point was also very easy to find and Helena was right there waiting for us too. We appreciated that a lot. If there was any downside to the tour it was that Helena had to give a simultaneous translation at the Reina Sofia (English and Spanish) which meant some delays between rooms. Still both tours were well paced and interesting.

Great guides not enough time

Great guides and Museums however a lot of time was spent waiting for people. I understand the challenges - no one’s fault. Next time would only do one museum at a day.

Elena was knowledgeable, ...

Elena was knowledgeable, inviting questions and answered quite concisely. She brought context and history to the pieces viewed. Too many persons were included in the tour at Reina Sofia. The language in both English and Spanish made the tour at Reina Sofia tedious. Elena did her best to keep everyone everyone engaged.

Elena was an excellent tour guide. Charming, kind, and so knowledgeable and passionate about Spanish art and history. I really appreciated being able to enjoy a curated tour of the Prado and Reina Sofia - otherwise the museums would be overwhelming!

Worth it!

Our guide Helena was knowledgeable about the artists and each work. She was also fluent on social, economic, and political influences of the time in which the artwork was created and displayed. Very good tour! Would recommend.

I missed my tour and the agency did NOTHING to help me out. The representative told me “sorry, there is NOTHING I can do

Excellent Tour Guide.

Our guide, Elana, was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and friendly. She knew her art history and gave facts and related stories. This tour was educational and interesting.

Worth the guide to explain

The information came across very well. Lei was very passionate about the subjects around the museums. The detail on each painting chosen gave a different perspective not seen before.

Voice box problems for...

Voice box problems for half an hour didn’t help beginning but saw a lot. Participants dropped out along the way due to crowd at museum. Should mention no food or beverages in bags before tours. Many had to toss their waters.

Museo de Prado tour

The tour of the Museo de Prado was wonderful. Our guide, Beatrix, was informative and covered a great deal of art history. The Reina Sophia Museum tour was cancelled.

With such a wealth of art...

With such a wealth of art to see, it is extraordinarily difficult for a guide to select individual paintings and focus on a theme. We thought our guide did well in both these respects.

The guide spoke little...

The guide spoke little English. We gave her back the head set and learned more by reading the signs by each painting.

In my opinion the preferred experience would be to view the museum on your own. The tour guide was ver informative but spent yo much time on one piece of art. This your would be excellent for the true art lover

Great tour guide....

Great tour guide. Prado guide was excellent. Riena Sophia was bilingual. So it took twice as it should be.

Great tour, worth the money

Knowledgeable and very nice guides. Experience could have been better if Reina Sofia tour was just in English to make the tour 1 hour shorter. Our legs and feet were tired and there was very little opportunity to sit. We were impressed in spite of the crowd, our guide Andrea noticed a member was missing. Alex, our guide for Reina Sofia switched back and forth between English and Spanish, and did a great job.

Don’t do 2 museums in one trip

Skipping line took us almost an hour. I understand that security got stricter, but I am sure with good planning it could be much faster. We were lucky it was not raining. Prado guide’s English was a little hard to understand. We passed so many amazing works and because of second tour were not able to come back and enjoy the exhibition. After guessing instructions where to meet, we run to the Sofia. Stood outside for another hour before to get in. Tour guide was standing in front of each painting for 20 minutes, because had to tell same story in Spanish then translate it to English. It was sooooo long and chaotic, I was feeding like one of the Picasso late painting 😱

A poorly organised and disappointing tour.

Our guide was over 30 minutes late with no apology or explanation. The company did not reply to my email about the delayed start time. If the guide introduced himself, I did not hear his name. The tour involved more waiting around rather than time in the museums viewing the artworks. In the Reina Sofia we had no audio so the guide was difficult to hear and follow through the crowded rooms. I will not be using this company again and do not recommend this tour.

0 STARS! Horrible experience do NOT take this tour

This was the WORST tour experience I have ever had. My friend and I are two poor college students and splurged on this tour to get the most out of our museum visits. After waiting an hour and a half past the start time, the guide finally told us she did not have the correct tickets to get us in the Prado and give a group tour, but we could purchase our own audio guides and walk around. She spoke in detail about why to the Spanish guests but did not give much of a reason in English. Fine. We were told we would get a partial refund for the part of the tour that was messed up. Then we specifically asked if we could choose to skip the entire tour to have a full refund so we could spend more than 10 minutes in the Prado. Tour guide said yes of course. So we did not carry on to the Reina Sofia with the tour, as permitted by the tour guide, so we could instead have a full refund. When I contacted AmigoTours to get my refund, they said I was lying about what the guide said to me and refused to refund me in full. I talked with them multiple times and contacted Viator, and they maintained that I was lying. This was so insanely unacceptable, and I am baffled that this site would not protect me from scams like this. Absolutely do not take this tour unless you want to be down $150, gaslit by customer service, and have hours of your trip wasted. If the company responds to refute this, they are lying.

Prado and Reina Sofia Museums

We had a great time on our tour of the Prado and Reina Sofia museums. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful and made it a great experience overall! My teenage daughter enjoyed it too!

Don’t do tours in 2 languages.

Guide was poor. It was 2 language (we were expecting just English) and he was slow and disordered. Doing it in 2 languages didn’t help and the group was large. It added very little. But he did add a new perspective to geurnica for which I am grateful

Prado and reina Sofia

Able to understand "perspective "of the classics . Very knowledgeable guide. Very knowledgeable guides at both Prado and reina Sofia. Too hurried. First guide did not mic and was soft spoken. Often unable to hear him.

Disappointed

I appreciated the art knowledge of our English speaking tour guide. She clearly knew her subject matter. My disappointment with the tour is how they rushed as off after the first half. We were given the incorrect for the Sofia portion and missed the tour. The senior tour guide seemed more concerned about serving the Spanish speaking part of the group.

Excellent Tour

I was part of the tour presented by Stefania Malagutti on Friday 12 August.The tour itself is excellent and highly recommended and we were lucky in having such a wondeful guide in Stefi, Her knowledge and ability to contextualise the paintings and the evolution from the industrial revolution through cubism to surrealism is highly enjoyable and her natural enthusiasm really brings the whole experience to life. For me it is a must do for the visitor to Madrid and if you are lucky enough to have Stefania as your guide the whole thing will be a wonderful experience.

Not a good experience

The reason we took this tour was to see and learn the most about the art in both museums since they are both huge. Our guide tried to share his knowledge but his english were poor, braking down sentences into simple words and we were left trying to figure out what he was talking about. Time management was bad. In Prado we rushed through the most important exhibits that were left for the end of the tour. In Reina Sophia we lost time (a family was late for the tour, or something) and we saw only a part of what we have paid for and were supposed to see. We would have been better off with the museum's audio guide. It was a waste of our time and money.

Good attempt but needs a better guide and a good organization

It would improve simply respecting the scheduled timetables and with a better organization. Our experiencie was not worth the prixe we paid for it.

Amigo tours is a scam. Please don't book their tours

Hi, my wife, two teenage kids and I booked to go on this guided tour on Friday for $60 per person. The first part of the tour went ok in Prado museum - nothing amazing but wasn't bad either. But, problem started right after. We were supposed to go to the Reina Sofia for a guided English tour. The Prado tour guide had to leave in a hurry and she told us to go wait in the same starting place in front of the Valesquez statue at 12:15. But, no one showed up. When I checked email, there was an email from Amigo travels saying that English tour was cancelled and I could go fo Spanish tour (a language we don't know) or rebook for Monday. I replied promptly that we are leaving Sunday and so please cancel this portion of the tour and refund. I also immediately contacted Tiqets on WhatsApp and reported the issue. It's Sunday and so far no resolution. I've heard back from Amigo travels and they are denying the refund. And Tiqets is not able to help yet. I'm hoping for a quick resolution. Looks like this Amigo tours is a scam and highly recommend others not to take this and ideally Tiqets should be able to help here. But they are not able or willing to get this resolved as well

Not a good experience!

We were 10 minutes late to the museum but we called to let you guys know. We found her walking by she had no identification on she that showed she was the guide with your company. We have taken many tours with your company this trip and all were good but this one. The guide was very hard to understand and I felt the art work she picked to talk about was ok but there were some other important pieces I was surprised she did not speak about ( I have taken many art history classes and was an art major in high school). I would have been fine with all of that as my 13 and 15 year old sons have never seen any of this. The worst part is that she had us check all our bags in together as a group! She told us to meet back there at 12:25!! I did not want to be late again so we were there at 12:20….I did not see any the guide or any of the other people in the group so I called you! I then noticed after looking in the storage area that only our bags were left!! She left us at Prado Museum….with no way to get our bags !!! She could have told the guard our names and that we had permission to pick up the bags! She could have called us you have my number. She could have called your office and left instructions! She did none of these things!! We finally convinced the guards that those were our bags as one of them remembered us. We had to fill out paperwork. It was a nightmare! We then decided to move on to the Reina Sofia museum! As we walk up we see the group standing there ! So by chance!! I said why did you not meet us there or leave a note for us there!! Our bags were locked up and had our keys to our apartment and other important documents! She says I told you to meet us at the statue?? I said no I asked you on the side to confirm and you said to meet at the bag area! Obviously there was a miss communication as others went to the right place. The thing that was upsetting was that she left with no note or call to us as to how to get our bags!! We also paid for an English tour and her English was not very good at all and it all put us in a very bad position! We would have been better off touring the museums on our own!

Museo del Prado and Reina Sofia guided tour

The tourist guide José Miguel, born in Toledo, is very smart, know many details about Spanish history and Art history. Besides he was very patient due to long time (half an hour) that we got to enter into Prado Museum, due to police control.

Terrible Day

The street address given in the instructions does not take you to the meeting point. The statue they reference does not show up in any map search. Called operator and got their within 10 minutes. No attempt to help us locate group

Prado guide wS excellent; 2nd guide needed was hard to understand because so many simultaneous tours in different languages

Great if you are able to stand long periods of time and walk all day!

The guide for our group was over wordy in some paintings and quick in the next; my feet were killing me in the end and I lost my group finding someplace to sit a minute. I had to give up. Then we were told to walk to Reina Sofia!! Ugh! I sat out the rest of the day at a cafe!

Not Recommended

Our guide Juan was a friendly person and trying hard. But he wasn't clearly audible and his English was hard to follow. In the Prado he started with showing us the beauty of perspective in some paintings from different viewing angles. It was nice for 1-2 paintings, but got repetitive and tiring afterwards. In the Reina Sofia museum, he was unable to keep the group together with all people wandering around possibly coz they had lost interest. Plus in the second museum, he barely spoke in English. Wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone. With an audioguide we would have probably enjoyed more.

Do Not Book this Tour!

The tour guide had a thick accent, so he was difficult to understand. The tour went at a snails pace all the time accept when we had a chance to view the paintings. Then it felt rushed. We skipped nearly all of the paintings to focus on about 10. Most of the information given was searchable or on the plaques beside the paintings. Worst of all, the tour was suppose to included the Sophia museum. Not only did Amigo tours not include it, the museum was closed that day. We paid a lot of money for a single museum tour poorly run. Everyone in the group agreed. *Side note-no photos in the Prado museum. :(

Poor tour guide

Tour guide gave tour in both English and Spanish; therefore, took twice as long. Very difficult to understand and know when she switched from Spanish to English.

Very poor experience

Poor experience all round. The audio equipment provided was poor quality and it was extremely difficult to hear and understand the guide. Tour conducted at break neck speed with little time to pause and enjoy the paintings. Much better to get your own audio guide and do it at your own pace.

I learned so much

Our guide, Stefi, has an incredible depth of knowledge of art history. Her command of both English and Spanish is remarkable and she was able to seamlessly move back and forth between them as our group required

The 4 of us joined a...

The 4 of us joined a group of about 10 Spanish speakers - we were led by "Amanda". We met exactly as arranged, on time, and we were led into the Prado Art Museum. Our problem was mainly with the fact that because we were a English /Spanish speaking group, Amanda had to address us first in Spanish & then in English - this process wasted our time and as a result, we only had time for a total of 5 painting! Not Amanda's fault but we needed a wholly English speaking group, so being able to see & learn more!! The same can be said of Reina Sophie except the we were too many in the group (2). We would not recommend such a tour to our friends.

Don’t take this tour

I booked a Prado/Reyna Sofia guided tour with Viator expecting a private/small group experience in one language. The tour was for a much bigger group, about 15 people most of whom spoke Spanish, while our group spoke English. The tour was rushed and the English translation were inadequate and became briefer as the tour progressed. Booking 2 museums was not a good idea because more people were picked up there, while some dropper off from the Prado group. We would have had a much better experience with an audio guide.

My tour was excellent but interrupted as I had a medical emergency due to a reaction to medication. Is there a way to forward my contact details to the lovely lady guide that did the Prado/Rayna tour on Wednesday 9 /22 at 945a? I believe her name was Stephanie? She was the lead guide and spoke English. I want to apologize to her in person - my phone is 1-540-679-650 Please advise if possible.
