Don’t book with Amigo / go city pass - book direct

Highly recommend booking tickets in advance and make sure you book direct . Sadly we booked using our Go city Madrid pass which then uses Amigo Tours. Amigo also take direct bookings so when they overbook guess who they cancel . That’s right the ticket holders that booked using their pass . Grrrrrr

Worth every penny!

My girlfriend and I did a private tour with a gentleman (I wish I could remember his name!!) that was wonderful. He was so knowledgeable and super passionate about Spain and the Palace. He (politely) reminded many tourists about no the no photo policy, which is a strict rule. Only about 1% is open to the public but there is SO much detail in each room. Without him we wouldn’t have appreciated any of it. If you at all enjoy history, art, or want to get a sense of the mingling of cultural influence on Spain (eg from Italy and France especially) this is a great tour and absolutely worth the price. Walking through there alone is still cool but you won’t be able to appreciate any of the details. Highly recommend.

Not worth the price

This was overpriced for a one hour tour with a guide who didn’t speak English well enough to easily understand.

Beautiful Palace

I loved the palace. The tour was great. I liked that the rooms were furnished and the guide pointed out the important things to notice.

Great Palace Tour...highly enjoyed it!

This tour was fantastic. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the visit really interesting. This was worth doing for sure. We did a self guided tour two years ago and this tour was so much better, and we learned a ton. The guide knew his stuff and kept it interesting. Truly five stars and really worth doing. I found the value great. The only improvement is the meeting place for the tour, it is clearly stated, but if you put it into Google Maps, it shows on the wrong side of the Opera building. Not a big deal, and not the tour operator's fault, as Google shows it incorrectly. The right place to meet is the statue by the Metro station, in front of the Opera (far side of Palace). Again, great tour, and well worth it.

Guide in wrong meeting place

The tour itself was good, but our guide Fernando, was in the wrong meeting spot. We were given explicit instructions to meet at the Isabel II statue in Isabel Plaza. When our guide didn’t show, I called and the tour co. Amigo Tours contacted him. He was at the entrance to the palace. So we made our way there and started the tour. He was very good and knowledgeable, but it seemed he was hurrying a little so he could make his next tour since we started 30 minutes late.

Private tour with Angel

We had Angel today for a 4 person tour (1/23/2020) of the royal palace, true gentleman from start to finish. Extremely knowledgeable and able to field every question we threw at him. Would highly recommend this tour, make sure to ask for him

Our private tour was terrific and engaged our teens. They really appreciated the story telling. Others should be happy to have her.

Private tour of Royal Palace

This tour was perfect! Tour took closer to 2 hours as our guide took time to answer all of our historical questions. An hour and a half was plenty of time.

Madrid Royal Palace Tour

We enjoyed the tour. It gave us the highlights of the Royal Palace. The tour went at a good pace. We saw everything we wanted to see.

Madrid Royal Palace is a "Don't Miss: while in Madrid

Larger than Versailles, it is reported that Napoleon said his brother, then the King of Spain, who resided at the Madrid Royal Palace, that he lived in a better home than Napoleon did. Our tour guide was on time, very knowledgeable and kind. She did a great job!

Very nice tour of the Palicio Real

We are told to show up 15 minutes early but we were there 10 minutes before our guide. But having Minerva as a guide was worth the wait. She was very knowledgeable on the history of the Spanish monarchy and the Palace. We weee next to a guided tour where the guide was very loud and Minerva did not want to disturb their tour. But she was nearly whispering on what she was telling us. We need love everything she told us. We would definitely recommend her. She gave us her caes address and said if we had any questions about anything in Madrid to just text or email her. She gave recommendations and tips outside of the tour she was giving. We would definitely recommend this tour in general and Minerva in particular

Palace Problems

We started the tour with people missing from the group, which caused us to leave the starting point 20 minutes late, then when we got to the palace the guide was more worried about the missing people, then who had shown up on time. Letting large groups go in before us. Once we finally got it into the palace and outfitted with the headsets, we quickly realized that this was not an English tour, but instead an English\Spanish tour. Which meant that the guide was repeating everything twice, this was very annoying. I am by no means anti- Spanish, but if you book an English tour, then it should be in English. The Spanish people on our tour had lots of confused looks as well. After we passed through security and actually started the tour - now close to an hour after the meeting time, I was told by a security guard that my backpack was too big and I had to return to the entrance and store the bag. I understand that the guide doesn't make the rules, but he should be aware of them. There were two of us that had this issue. I believe if the guide was better prepared, he could have let us know in advance. At that point, my girlfriend and I left the tour. We were done. I reached out to the tour and expressed my concerns, but never heard back, I suggest you go with "tour by locals",

Día perfecto en el Palacio Real de Madrid

El recorrido fue genial y nuestro guía es el mejor. Me alegro mucho de haber programado esta visita guiada y no hacer línea. Cuando salimos había una línea muy grande de personas que esperaban pasar. Si tienes poco tiempo en Madrid esta visita guiada es una excelente opción. Gracias!

Nuestra Guía Beatriz, es un encanto de mujer tiene mucho conocimiento, mi hijo adolescente que le gusta mucho la historia quedo encantado con ella. Súper recomendado el tour y si es con ella MUCHO MÁS

Podrias hacer tu visita con la audioguia que te da la posibilidad el palacio de utilizar. Realmente no es tan necesario tener un guia. Si es importante comprar las boletas para no hacer filas
