James did a fantastic tour! Loved all the stops. James did a nice little walk around Historic places in Madrid and gave some info, but the real focus was on food. James had great advice while in Madrid too. I hope to do this tour again when I bring my husband. This trip was with my 20 year old daughter only. My daughter told me to write a review and give it a 10! So high praise from her too.

A fantastic and authentic tapas tour !

This was a fabulous tour! We really appreciated the format which progressed from more familiar tastes to more adventurous bites, and the bars which though crowded at times felt very authentic. Our guide James interlaced his stories about tapas with history and cultural tidbits which only enriched the experience. Definitely recommend going at night. Five stars!

Highlight of our Trip

We had a fantastic time with our guide James! This tour was the highlight of our trip. I can't wait to go back to Madrid and do this again. We hit so many cool spots and got a local's unique perspective.

An epicurean adventure

Our guide, James, aside from having a terriffic wealth of local knowledge is fluent in several languages and showed my party of 6 a very different tour from that which we had in with Adventurour Appetites a few years ago. Think of a tapas tour as being fine dining on the move. From an apertif with accompanying nibbles in a fabulous sherry bar, we moved onto our starter menu a short walk away, then to our fish course, then a stroll accross a park to discover meat and finally a relaxing brandy and sweet course in a jazz club. The walk was perfectly timed so that everything was seamless with no time pressure to rush to be out of one place or needing to be in another. How on earth he managed to find not only the variety and choice of venues but also to cope with a couple of vegetarians and another with an allergy to olive products. As James had tried everything on every menu at some time or other, he certainly knew which tapas bar had what to offer. We certainly took his advice to sample different things and discover flavours new. Fantastic value for money

Perfect way to experience the real Madrid

My family and I booked James for a tapas tour. Genuinely one of the best city tour and food experiences I've had. He took us to some fantastic tapas bars off the beaten track which we never would have found ourselves and never would have been able to get into! The food was wonderful and we felt like locals. He even showed us how to properly aerate the cider by pouring it from above our heads- and we got to have a go! Before and between the bars he filled us in on history of various buildings, statues and places around the city. He clearly knows his stuff and was so friendly and personable. Don't hesitate booking on with him- you'll have a fab night.
