THE BEST TOUR EVER!!!

WOW! Miller and his wife Bridget were absolutely amazing. Hands down the best tour guides we have ever had, no doubt about it. My husband and I had never been on a tour where the guide was so accommodating, caring, informative, and were willing to go above and beyond every single time. Miller even made sure he got us to the airport on time, driving through the night (9 hr drive to Manila) and dropping us off at the terminal. They made sure we got the best viewpoints for pictures and even took our picture so we could have pictures together. They knew the best angles and where to stand to really get the best view. Miller even arranged for us to get picked up at the end of our trip and ride in a tricycle which was super cool. Bridget even brought us to her parents house on the trek and showed us and taught us how to process rice and even gave us some to take back home. Before our trip even began, Miller was in contact with me and answered every single one of my questions. I never felt like I was annoying him with my millions of questions and would always confirm to make sure we were on the same page and made sure everything was set up and ready for us. His wife Bridget was our tour guide and she was amazing. I had read reviews that mentioned the trek was tough and I didn't believe them, I thought maybe it was difficult but not to the extent that everyone was saying. No, this trek is a major work out and does take a great amount of effort, especially that first day. But was it worth it? Yes, absolutely yes and we would do it again in a heart beat. We did a 3 day trek and when we left, we were left wishing we had more time to spend there. It could have been because we were traveling during the rainy season but be aware, the ground is slippery. Thankfully between Bridget and my husband holding my hand, I survived. Thank you again Bridget for saving my life countless times. My husband on the other hand did not share the same struggles as me. He completed the entire hike in his vans, although he would recommend hiking boots. But both of us agree that we had the best time of our lives. If you are even thinking about going to Banaue and seeing the rice terraces, just book it and make sure you book with Miller. You won't have any regrets. Buy your souvenirs while you're in this area as well, the prices can't be beat.

A must-do

Brijhet is the best tour guide you can find in Banaue. As a native from Batad, she knows the local people and ecosystem through and through. Her tour gives insights into the lives of the Ifugao people, their culture and agriculture, as well as the biodiversity of the rice terrasses. She will adapt to your pace and interests and make your tour very special by bringing you to her parents' house. I recommend her tour 300%. I took her tour in English, but she can also do the tour in French. Just ask for her at the tourist office in Banaue.

Great views and even greater people

Miller and Bridget were both welcoming and passionate about their work as tour guides. They were kind and supportive throughout my whole stay, and their inside knowledge of their province helped elevate the experience, as with Bridget (my tour guide) being from Batad, she offered an excellent array of trivia and experience to the village that I doubt you will get from other guides. My only regret was that I should’ve done the 3-day hike as opposed to the one, but at least I have an excuse to come back! Highly recommend.

Incredible 3 day hike through Banaue and Batad

My partner and I had the most incredible, rewarding and special time hiking through the luscious rice terraces. Organising our hike with Miller was a breeze, he was very flexible, relaxed and accommodating. Miller, his uncle and cousin picked us up from our accommodation in Manila in a luxurious van and drove us back to Banaue. He booked fantastic accommodation for us in Banaue, Cambulo and Batad, which all had showers, meals and wifi available. Brigette was our amazing guide and someone we now call our friend. Her knowledge on the cultivation and history of the terraces and Filipino culture was extensive. I asked many horticulture questions and she answered every single one! Brigette was very calm and supportive amidst the multiple thunderstorms we experienced and she was happy to walk at our pace, even though we knew she would be able to walk faster haha. We shared laughs and stories together and unforgettable moments for my partner and I. For anyone travelling in the wet season, we would recommend an umbrella (also for the sun) and a heavy-duty poncho. For any season, some staircase training beforehand would make the hike easier (my phone estimated we climbed 450 flights of stairs over the 3 days). We had a walking pole each which made the slippery, steep parts a lot easier. We also took Electrolytes/berocca and protein bars, which we would recommend. Added a photo of a menu from the Batad accomm to help anyone thinking of doing this tour make a budget. Overall, the hike was one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives. It challenged us physically, provided a sense of accomplishment and we saw views you could only dream of. The local villagers were very kind and welcoming and we cherished the time we spent in Batad milling rice with Brigettes family. We would do this hike again in a heartbeat. The most amazing experience in the Philippines!

I booked a solo one day tour of the Batad Rice Terraces and Tappiya Falls (about 6 hours total). Miller was amazing at communicating beforehand and was helpful offering additional services and help. He met me at my hotel and from there his wife Bridget took me on the tour. We went to the public market place, a couple of scenic spots, and, of course, the rice terraces and waterfall. Bridget was super knowledgeable about the history, the plants, the processes, just everything. And she shared all that knowledge and answered all my questions. She was wonderful and kind and I had an amazing time with her. Bridget and Miller (and their families) have lived and worked in the Batad Rice Terraces for generations so it was truly an authentic experience. We even stopped at their family home and threshed the rice. Bridget was amazing at explaining the process of what they do and so generous. The hike into the village and to the waterfall and back is no joke!! I’m in pretty good shape and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. And even though Bridget walked it like it was a Sunday stroll (lol), she was as patient with me when I had to stop and kept a pace that was comfortable for me. And it was 100% worth it. Words can’t describe the peace and beauty of Batad and it was one of the most humbling experiences I’ve had in my life. It was, hands down, one of the best experiences I had in the Philippines, and honestly, in my whole life. I cannot recommend Bridget and Miller enough and think this is a must do thing if you’re in the Philippines. Heck, you should go just to do this! Make sure you bring lots of water, sunscreen, ponchos in case of rain, and a hat (wide brimmed is ideal). Thank you so much Miller and Bridge for an experience that I will never forget. Can’t wait to go back!!

3 day trek

My husband and I booked a 3 day 2 night Trek with Miller. His communication throughout the trip was excellent. We opted to fly into Cauayan and they picked us up from there. The accommodations and guesthouses they booked were very comfortable. Even a hot showere after a day of trekking and comfy beds. The food was good. The trekking was beautiful through the forest and along rice terraces. The trails are very steep with plenty of steps up and down, so be prepared and fit (if you are afraid of heights, beware). An umbrella is critical for showers or shade, and a trekking pole helpful. Bring sturdy medium backpack with good waist belt for your gear and water. This operator was born and raised in the area, and have first hand knowledge of the life in the terraces. I can recommend Miller and his wife Bridgette 100%.

Unforgettable Experience

From beginning to end the trip was great. I was coming from Sagada and was picked up by Miller straight from the bus stop. I had another friend join in last minute in which Miller was able to slot him in aswell as make changes to the itinerary for an additional price. We arrived to the rice terraces and our accomodation later at night though the walk down to the accomodation was easy enough with a flashlight. We stayed at Simon's Inn which I couldn't recommend enough. Come next morning I was blessed with the view of the rice terraces straight from my window and our tour started early as requested at 5:30AM We made our way through the rice terraces, stopped by a local house and learned how to process rice from raw material aswell as wear traditional clothing which was a great experience. We then continued our way down to the Tappiyah Falls (Additional) which was quite a hike going back up but way worth it and quite refreshing. We worked out way back up through the rice terraces and went further into our itinerary which were additional but I recommend to maximize your plans if you're only there 1 day. We added Ducligan to our itinerary and went to the Hotsprings, Snake Riverview Point aswell as the main Viewpoint in Ducligan. All in all it was a great but tiring day but way worth the trip. I cannot thank Miller enough for accommodating us and being such a great guide! Thank you 🙏

great Batad tour - highly recomended

We traveled with Brijhet on a great private tour. Bridget is full of knowledge and first-hand experience, being a resident of the area. Thanks to the hike with Bridget, we got to see up close the rice fields, the workers in the fields, the houses, and the nature around. Magical and unforgettable experience

We did the 3-day trek with Miller and despite how challenging it was, it was the highlight of our 2-week Philippines trip! Miller was very responsive from the outset. He took care of the transportation and accommodation, told us what to expect, and met us at the bus station when we arrived. He adjusted the pace as we sweated our way up and down the mountains, made us walking sticks, and kept us entertained with jokes and stories even as our legs were turning into noodles. We learned so much about the Ifugao culture from him. Miller is an absolute legend! From the beginning to the very end of the journey he offered us the best service a tour guide could offer! We did the 3 days hike. With his funny and easy going manner we loved to spend our days with him. He provided a good knowledge about rice and culture and has a very good feeling what the client needs. In summary he was one of our best tour guides we ever met on our travels.

Absolutely Amazing Experience.

The Banaue and Batad rice terraces were a truely unique site to see, carved right out of the jungle in the Ifeugo mountains. Our guide Miller was exceptional, he elevated the experience from just seeing the sights to a truely cultural emersion. He told many stories of the area and the people who's ancestors built the terraces thousands if years ago, he told the story of rice... from getting the terrace ready to planting to harvesting to processing to eating. He encouraged and answered our many questions. I really appreciated the care, encouragement, kindness and patience he gave to my son age 9. I cannot thank Miller enough for such an incredible experience.

The discover of new world !!

This experience was just incredible, like we are discover a new world during two days !! I think, if we have the occasion, you must to do live this experience at least once time in your life !! And mainly, a huge thank you to our guide Miller who made this experience even more incredible than it should have been and who knew how to take the time to make us discover the magic of this place and all its history!! An amazing tour !

We enjoyed a lot discovering the rice terraces with Miller, who is a very kind and patient guide. We could learn a lot about the process of rice planting and harvesting thanks to him. The night in Cambulo was also very enjoyable. I recommend this tour !

Amazing conversation and nature with Miller

Miller was an amazing tour guide for our three day trek. He was so flexible to our needs - changing routes and our daily schedule based on how we felt each day. He always made sure we were safe, comfortable, and having fun. He knew so many people throughout the villages, which meant we also got to meet lots of cool people. My friend and I had so many questions for him about local tradition and culture and Miller shared so many insightful things with us. Miller even went the extra mile to organize that a cake be brought in from Banaue - a 2 hour hike from where we were at the time - and worked at night to make a traditional Filipino dessert to surprise my friend on her birthday. Our trek with Miller was one of our highlights from our trip and we highly recommend you take a trek with him!!!!!!! It was so beautiful.

Perfect day exploring rice terraces!

We had a wonderful experience exploring the rice terraces with Miller! We only had 1 day (took overnight bus from Manila, then left that night on overnight bus back to Manila) but made the most of every minute because of this tour. Lovely breakfast and lunch with views, nice walk through Batad rice terraces, hike to waterfall, and view of Bangaan rice terraces. Miller shared so much interesting knowledge with us that really enhanced our experience. It was a highlight to visit his family’s house to see how rice is processed. We were taken care of from the moment we got off the bus in the morning until we boarded again in the evening. This is definitely a place where you benefit from having a local guide, especially with limited time. Just an FYI tour price does not include the tricycle/transportation fee so bring extra cash.

Amazing 2-day trek through the rice terraces

Thanks Miller for the amazing experience. It was a great start to my Philippines trip. I highly recommend the experience to anyone with a bit of physical condition. Miller is super nice, very friendly, knowledgeable and fun. The 2-day trek was amazing: beautiful and varied landscapes, fun stops, nice people and good work-out. Some sections of the trail are truly breathtaking and feel like sceneries of a Myazakyi animé. The best period is between March and June when rice terraces are all green and weather is drier. However, it's great all year round and definitely a worthwhile experience.

10/10 Experience!!! Not to be missed

We did this tour with Miller in December 2023 and it was a special experience and one of our favorite parts of our trip to the Philippines. We started with a hike down to the rice terraces and even visited Miller’s house and met his wife and daughter. We learned a lot about how rice is grown and harvested and we got to help process some rice! After visiting the rice terraces, we hiked to Tappiyah Falls for some breathtaking views. We found the hike itself to be somewhat difficult so be sure to wear hiking shoes and bring plenty of snacks and water. Overall it was an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Batad/Banaue!

My husband, teenage son and I had an amazing adventure with Miller on a 2 night, 3 day trek from Banaue to Batad with an overnight stay in the charming village of Cambulo. I organised all of this on messenger through the trip advisor link and after countless questions answered I decided to lock it in. I’m so glad I did! He personally made the 9 hour journey to pick us up from Manila in a comfortable van and dropped us back to Manila to catch a flight at 6.55am! (with 2 extra drivers so they were not over tired) The beauty of the mountains and rice terraces was breathtaking and Miller was THE best guide, Local and knowledgeable, fun with a great sense of humor! On the first day my knee gave out on me, and my progress was very slow, Miller encouraged me, looked out for me and changed our plans for the next day as my knee was not up to stairs! Even though I had to take the next day out, I could still enjoy the view from our hotel, and the boys still got to have a great day hiking around Batad. This was all thanks to Miller being able to change plans at short notice to make sure everyone still had a great experience. Our accommodation at Batad was a new place called Roberto’s Abung, friendliest people, incredible panoramic view of the rice terraces , great food and spotless. My family and I can not recommend Miller highly enough. If you want to experience a unique culture and way of life, and get deep into nature then this tour is for you! He is a genuine, lovely person and his organization and care for us was outstanding from start to finish! Thanks Miller!!!

Miller and Bridget are amazing!

Miller and his wife Bridget helped make our visit to Banaue very memorable and enjoyable. I got in touch with Miller months before arriving in the Philippines and initially, he suggested to do a trekking tour of several rice terraces. When I told him I'm travelling with 60+ years old parents, he adjusted the tour to make it more accessible for my group. Miller was quick to respond to my messages and questions. He met us at the bus station on our first day in Banaue and we learned a lot about Ifugao culture from his stories throughout the tour. Batad is a challenging hike but he was patient with us and our hiking struggles (LOL). He kept the atmosphere light with his jokes and teasing. The highlights of our experience were grain processing and milling at his father-in-law's place, tasting the local rice wine, and the tricycle tour of the Bangaan, Ducligan and Banaue Rice Terraces on our second day. Bridget was our tour guide for the second day and she was equally patient and enthusiastic. I definitely recommend doing a guided tour with Miller and Bridget!

Wonderfull nature with great guide

If you ever make it to Batad, Miller is the guy you need! Just spend 3 days with in Banaue/Batad en Sagada. Because of him my focus could be completely on enjoying the environment. Eventful day at the beautiful Batad rice terraces

We had an amazing time with Brigette on our tour throughout the day who shared interesting details from everyday life of Philippino people living and working on the rice terraces, showed us together with her husband Miller rice making and made for us the ultimate experience at Batad rice terraces, taking care of us from our arrival. We enjoyed our time very much and definetly recommend this wonderful experience to everyone visiting the beautiful Banaue/Batad rice terraces.

An adventure not to be forgotten

Miller treated us to an experience unlike any we have ever been on before. We took a rice terrace hike was an all-day adventure. It was a challenge for me, but with Miller setting a pace suited to me, our fit bunnies easily achieved the walk and so did I. I chose not to walk to the falls & back, whereas the rest of our group did. It was a challenge for some of them. A highlight was learning how rice is processed & we all really enjoyed sharing in this activity. Miller's service extended to driving us all the way to Ninoy Aquino Intl Airport, Manila with side trips along the way. Our group had so much fun due to Miller & our driver, Jerry's helpful advice. This was such a memorable trip and we would totally recommend Miller as a guide.

Rice terraces, history and a dose of humor. Doesn’t get better than that.

Miller provided us with not only a wonderful tour across the rice terraces and to the falls, he arranged for our transportation from Banaue to Sagada. Miller is a wonderful tour guide with knowledge of the area, a great sense of humor and a lot of patience. (Patience was needed at times for me to catch up. Can’t say I ever walked up and down such mountainous terrain. :) As English speakers, we really appreciated his command of the English language. Miller (the guide) know what is doing 👌🏼 !! He take the time to explain and show you everything he can . He’s very kind and always watching if you’re good or need anything ! The area is incredible . I recommand this place to anyone but if you’re doing this , take Miller as your guide !

Once in a lifetime experience

What an amazing experience! Even though it takes a while to get there, it is worth the effort. Something that you should see if you ever have the opportunity. Our guide was Miller, he made the trip even more special. He speaks English and knows all the locals. He was patient and knowledgable, and even though it rained the day of our trip, he made sure we were safe and comfortable.

#1 Tour Guide in Banaue!

MILLER! What an amazing tour guide this guy is. I did the three-day trek in September last year and I had a blast. As a novice hiker this was the most physically challenging trek I've done, but having Miller leading the way and chatting our way through the trails the 8 hours of walking a daywent by quickly. Obviously, the sights of the terraces are amazing, but to learn from someone who grew up in these terraces is an experience you can't get anywhere else. Was happy to take photos of me whenever as well!! My highlights were sleeping in Cambulo village (the lady who owns the inn is very informed about global politics, great conversation, and great cook) and the batad rice terraces where Miller teaches you how rice is milled (personally my favorite terrace). 10/10 experience, would change nothing except the typhoon that cut our last day short. tip: leave the 65L backpack in the luggage hold, all you need is a daypack

Batad tour

I did lots of tours, but this was the best. I even got to meet my host's family; in fact, a wedding no less and at no point, unlike other guides around the country, was I constantly asked for tips. My guide met me at the station, helped me settle in at my hotel and drove me back to the departure area. I was well looked after and enjoyed every minute of experiencing the culture here.

Amazing place, amazing tour guide!

Miller was an amazing guide and more than what we could've ever asked for or imagined. He was extremely accommodating from start to finish, and was also very flexible in terms of timing, passing through trails and other side trips (like a visit to the local market to buy fresh produce). He also knows a lot about the history of Batad and overall culture of the people of Banaue - which was really interesting to hear about. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Banaue.

Great Day!

Had a great day with our guide Miller. We did a full day tour to the Batad Rice Terrace, the Tappiya Falls and a couple of other nice view points. He even showed us the traditional way of rice making as his in-laws are still in Batad. The miller's English is very good and he gives a lot of information during the whole trip. There are a lot of stairs, so we can recommend this tour to anyone who likes to walk. We did the booking for this trip by phone, but you can also book it on Tripadvisor. The prices are in line with the tourist office prices.

The best day tour I have ever experienced!

Miller was an excellent, informative guide who gave the most spectacular guided tour. We got to see all of the beautiful rice terraces, the waterfall and I even got to try my hand at traditional rice processing down in the Batad village surrounded by the rice terraces. Miller was not only knowledgeable, but also has a family lineage working the rice terraces. It was incredible watching his skill with the rice making and to hear the history he had to share of the terraces and the Filipino life style. His English was excellent and he was friendly and curious about my culture. Very personable. I shared with him that I had my motorcycle license and he allowed me to try riding his motorcycle side car in a safe section of the road. It was thrilling. I was even given the opportunity to meet his mother and father who used to work the rice terraces in their youth, and was able to purchase the freshest most delicious turmeric tea that his mother processes and sells in the local markets. Miller allowed plenty of time for me to enjoy my one day tour, and even encouraged me to slow down and appreciate the surroundings. When I had to wait for my bus after the tour, he waited with me to make sure I boarded safely. This is the best tour I have ever experienced. The perfect combination of adventure, history and thrill. Thank you to Miller from Banaue Adventures for being an amazing tour guide. He took into consideration what the best itinerary was for us based on our short stay in the area. This included the Batad rice fields with a quick stop to try our hand at manually de-husking rice - a worthwhile experience. Great Tour Guide

Miller was a great guide. Although, it was raining for many parts of the day he was never pushy nor rushed the tour. He also explained everything slowly and concisely which helped me learn a lot. For the record, walking down is great, but walking back up is a doozy. So, bring lots of water and snacks. All in all, I would recommend this tour to friends and family.

Bespoke Batad Rice Terraces Experience

Visited the Batad Rice Terraces and went trekking to get a true sense of the place, soaking rain notwithstanding. Trek with major complexity for my husband who wears a leg brace and has balance issue but, credit to our guide Miller, he managed to get him through the narrow dikes, stone steps, and other slick spots made treacherous to navigate by the inclement weather. Down and back up took us 4 hours but we hit it right coming this time of the year: the temperature was ideal for hiking, and tourists were sparse in numbers. Encountered only two during the trek, the rain having confined the rest at the viewpoint above. This time of the year, though, Batad appeared like stepped pools as the rice paddies have been cleared and readied for planting. A few scattered patches of seed beds provided a pop of green so I had to fill in, mentally, the lush verdure seen in iconic images of the landscape which, reportedly, occurs around April/May. We particularly enjoyed the litte 'in-service' our guide provided at his in-laws' property in the village below. All by hand, we learned about the traditional method of processing rice, how to separate home-grown grains from stalk, de-husk them using a pestle (a physically demanding task!), and winnowed the grain from the chaff. Miller also shared many aspects of the Ifugao way of life, beliefs, and practices, some of which as they had been with their ancestors. We felt privilege to see a traditional Ifugao hut (with grass roofing still intact), a wooden stilt dwelling used as granary/food storage, as many of which--from circa 1985 photo of the village my husband took during that visit--have largely been replaced (lamentably!) with concrete and corrugated materials. On reflecting that such staggering beauty, against the ruggedness of the Cordilleras, was all fashioned by hand using only the most primitive tools, this UNESCO World Heritage site, truly, is an engineering marvel as well as a testament to the ingenuity of the highland people of the region. By far. the best experience of our travels in the island of Luzon!

Miller is the best guide

It was very very wonderful. The experience and the nature was perfect. We booked three days and saw many beautiful places. Miller ist the best guide! He is very friendly, funny and knows much about the place, because he grew up there. I can highly recommend the place and Miller to everyone!!!

Miller is a local in the village of Batad and can safely guide you across the beautiful rice terraces. We did a small trekking and stopped at the village to learn and experience the local rice husk removal technique. If you want to arrange for a pick-up from the hotel, Miller can arrange for a Jeepney to travel to the hike starting point. Highly recommended experience & guide.

良いがかなりキツい。登山者である私もかなりバテバテ。暑い上にトレッキングコースが長い。事前情報がほとんどなかった。体力のない女性は無理だと思う。ただし景色やコースは最高に綺麗です。流石に世界遺産ですよ。今まで見た世界遺産の中でもベスト5

Wunderbare Führung

Sehr interessante, persönliche und professionelle Führung. Die Reisterrassen selber sind total interessant und beeindruckend! Beide Führer sehr professionell, herzlich und offen. Die Frau ist selber in den Reisterrassen aufgewachsen und kennt sich total gut aus. Wir durften alles lernen über die Reispflanzung, Ernte und Weiterverarbeitung. Diese hat sie uns in und an ihrem Eltern Haus gezeigt. Eine absolute empfehlenswerte Wahl.
