Jungfraujoch Day Trip from Lucerne with Eiger Express Gondola

Beware of bad weather!

Disclaimer: We never got a chance to go to Jungfraujoch as the mountain was closed due to heavy winds, so we technically ended up with the "Day trip to Interlaken & Grindlewald" tour. The balance amount was refunded to us within a day. The reason I'm writing this review is to extend a shout-out to our tour guide, Vladimir - who had to face the wrath of a coach full of disappointed & pissed off tourists. He tried to make up for it by conducting a walking tour of Grindlewald and offering the option to go up Grindlewald Fierst - which was somewhat comforting. Due to revised schedule we also had trouble finding coach parking in Lauterbrunnen resulting in having to go to an alternate site with a less majestic view of the waterfalls. Otherwise, the coach ride takes a very scenic route and one wouldn't be disappointed with the views - Switzerland is a beautiful country! My suggestion to the tour operator: Tourists come with high expectations, so they must be warned about the possibility of cancelation beforehand and provided clarification on the alternate plan to manage expectations.

Misho travel

I traveled with my wife to visit the we visit the Jungfraujoch, was really amazing!, we were in love of the mountain, the views and the story of the place.

Very Poor

BEEARE! We started out from Lucerne via Interlaken and Grindelwald. We were advised on the way that it was too windy to go up to mountain and that we would just spend a few hours in Grindelwald instead. Very weak tour guide only offered 50% refund. Still haven’t seen the money. Book with anyone other than Viator

Amazing tour to the Top of Europe!

The tour was well organized, we had enough time to enjoy the great views. Sofia,our guide, was informative and courteous. This tour was, for sure, a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Exploring the ice caves in the glacier and viewing the mountains from the Sphinx. The descriptions of the area on the bus by our guides, Sophie and Yuxia were outstanding!

Group trip

Great trip.‘Roberto was very knowledgeable able. While some of Jungfraujoch was close due to weather the trip was memorable. The cable car ride provided spectacular views!

Great experience

The whole trip was great very knowledgeable guide and very easy to do. Experience was amazing would definitely recommend it to anyone. Once in a life time trip. People sooo nice.

Marianne our tour guide was excellent! She made sure everyone understood her, gave clear instructions during tour, and handled a slight dispute between two passengers.

Great time on Jungfraujoch

What an incredible experience. From the ice palace to the tram by Eiger, this is a must do. I am so glad we did this. The scenery is spectacular. The memorial for the tunnel workers is touching. Every part of this tour was outstanding. Fernando and Yolanda was very informative and helpful. Excellent tour.

Breathtaking

This was an incredible full day tour that should not be missed. It is a breathtaking experience that will leave you in awe. Our guide Roberto was amazing and very knowledge…..his personality, knowledge and genuine concern for those in his charge made the trip extra special. Thank you!

See it all!

Amazing views, and great way to see the sights of Switzerland. Well run, and while we would have liked more time, we appreciated the schedule and experiences of the trip. The Top of Europe is a must see!

"Best of Switzerland" -- Feedback

1. Communication a bit confusing until leaving Interlaken. Interlaken 30 minute stop a bit of a waste of time. No need to announce Interlaken activities, shops, purchase coupons/discounts, etc. if no time to take advantage. 2. Gallos was an excellent guide. 3. Gallos' second guide (Ping?) needs to be careful what she says. She was guiding a Chinese group and was heard saying, "she hoped no Americans in her group". This might get misinterpreted by travelers with thin skin. We took it such that she didn't want to explain things twice; however, others may not. 4. Bus extremely hot and travelers told no drinks on bus.

Definitely do this!

This is a MUST DO! The guides did an awesome job of keeping everyone together and explaining the landmarks. The trip itself was amazing! You get priority access and the group gets its own train car- you will appreciate that when you see the hundreds of visitors there.

Waste of money

Not worth the $940.00 I spent. Very crowded, the bus was full when we got on and no one would move for us to sit together. We got separated from the group and had to spend additional money to buy our own train tickets to Interlaken. The guide didn’t even care. He didn’t ask us what happened or apologize for miscommunication. I would NOT recommend this trip. It is incredibly over priced!!!

Pretty but not sure it was worth it.

Enjoy the ride on the tram up and back down. It is spectacular. The time in between was like being in a herd of cattle. It was packed with lots of pushing and shoving. Picture taking in the ice castle was dangerous to be behind and lines were held up a lengthy distance because of it. ( Standing still on sloping ice is not easy) . If you do get to look up and around ,the ice castle is amazing. The constant battle with crowds took away from the rest….pretty expensive for the experience and take-away’s

The best of switzerland tour indeed

Very good! Guides are very helpful and good, most especially Weili. If you want to explore jungfrau, you should do this tour.

A MUST if you're visiting the Swiss Alps.

I don't think you can come to Switzerland and not take this tour. It was pricey but worth it. One of the highlights of a very memorable trip of a lifetime.

Bucket list Must See!!

It is an amazing tour of the Alps. Highly recommend. The guides were excellent and we felt well looked after. Very worthwhile tour and worth the money! The views are spectacular. The fact that we could cancel 24hrs before and get a full refund was a selling point as well!

Worst experience ever!!!!!

Just to be short, we has to spend 220 USD to get back to Luzern in our own. We waited from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM for the tour guide at the meeting point. No one showed up. We thought we were left behind, but it was strange because we were the only ones waiting. Then, we get a call asking where we were, and to get back, really!. The bus was very late and no one let us know. The group is very large about 60-70 people. There was so much confusion with the instructions from the tour guide. Anyways, it was a mess from the start. The bus arrived late, and the driver treated us very rudely, and did not even apologize for being late. We had to paid to get back to Luzern. Between the bus and train, we spend over 220 dollars.

Incredible Scenery, and an Engineering Marvel

One of the most memorable days I can remember. The Bernese Alps are magnificent, and the trip up to the Jungfraujoch provides views that could only be had otherwise via helicopter. The tour from Luzern was well organized and allowed ample time (over 3 hours) at the top - enough to explore the many viewpoints, tunnels, ice caves/carvings and shops/ restaurants available. The modern and comfortable cog railway cars travel up inside the mountain in an amazing tunnel built in the late 1890's- an engineering marvel of its time.

Lucerne to Jungraujoch , great trip.

Bus was prompt. Best seats filled by people who boarded in Zurich. So understand you probably won't get a seat up top. Beautiful scenery with good descriptions. We were fortunate to have a sunny day. Tram and cogwheel train were great. On the train down sit in the low seat section, left side for the best photos. A few young people (30/40 yr olds) in our group felt the effects of the altitude. Drink lots of water prior to the trip, it helps, also breathe deeply and pace yourself. Ice cave was interesting, loved the piano. Long day but worth doing.

Awesome experience!

This tour was perfect! We only had 2 1/2 days in Lucerne and wanted to make the most of our experience. This tour takes you through the Bernese Oberland and does a quick stop (45ish minutes ) in Interlaken (beautiful) on the way up to Jungfraujoch. The entire Jungfraujoch experience was amazing! Plenty of time (2 1/2 hours) to explore, shop, eat. My husband and I felt like this tour was a perfect way to see the countryside and share the experience of being at one of the most beautiful places in the Alps. Our guide Francesca made the trip even better with her knowledge, efficiency and friendliness. I definitely recommend!

Fantastic - well worth it

Fantastic day - guide was well informed and the pace was perfect. Scenery was stunning. I struggling with the altitude a little and the guide was incredibly helpful.

Lots of sightseeing and activity. As a solo traveler, it was fun to meet the people in the group who came from around the world and have a shared experience. The tour was well organized and worth the money. Be prepared for an entire day of activity and travel.

Great tour up to the Top of Europe!

Well organised and well done tour with great guides. We had more than enough time to see and do what we wanted and this made the tour very pleasant. Our guide, Eduardo, was fantastic. Friendly, polite, knowledgeable and made the tour a lot of fun.

Awe inspiring.

The gondola and train up to the top to see the breathtaking views was a lifetime experience. We also walked through the ice castle and it’s amazing ice sculptures.

CROWDED AND LINES AND NO FOOD!!!!

Crowded!!!!! You will be treated like cattle on this trip. Jammed into trains, buses, and elevators. On one train, you sit face to face and knee to knee with strangers, literally touching one another. Once you finally get to the top, it only gets worse. Pushy, self-entitled people everywhere. And for lunch? After waiting in line 30 minutes, I was lucky to get one of the last items: an awful pickle juice and cheese sandwich. Avoid this trip at all costs if you have any dislike for crowds and lines. The guide was great, the only positive from this awful experience.

Tour Guide good, Jungfraujoch a Chance

Monika was a very nice tour guide and told us information about the area. Great sites to see along the drive. It is a lot of money though and the weather in Switzerland is not very predictable especially at the top of a mountain! So you're taking a chance on that you will have a clear view at the top with good weather. If it is cloudy or has been stormy then not all of the activities would be available to you at the Jungfraujoch. Interlaken is just a short stop to get a coffee and use a restroom. I would visit the Jungfraujoch and Interlaken again but on my own more than likely and not a bus tour.

Beautiful and Interesting Trip

This was a great excursion. Pedro is very knowledgeable, but he's low-key and relaxed. His assistant, Monica, is awesome. We are an older couple who needed some extra assistance and a watchful eye, which Monica graciously provided. We enjoyed the entire trip, but we had significant altitude sickness at the facility at the top of the Alps, so we weren't able to fully appreciate it. I wonder if altitude sickness is more prevalent at older ages? If so, there should be a warning about it here.

The most memorable part of our visit to Switzerland!

Loved the cable car, loved the Ice Palace, loved being at the Top of Europe! Picture-taking opportunities are endless!

Tour is great! Avoid Crystal Restaurant

Our guide (Rebeca) was good; however our experience at the Crystal Restaurant (at the top) was horrible. Personnel was very rude with very bad manners; it seems that they were doing us a favor, it is a very expensive restaurant with a beautiful view and good food, but unfortunately all waiters and host gave us a very bad service.

The trip was very well organized and the guides were exceptionally helpful. After a late start (due to traffic), the rest of the day was just a great experience.

All great except unnecessary stop

It was a lot of fun and our guide was great. Only issue was the stop in Interlacken, the stop was only so that we could pick up more people, it was too short to really see anything, but to long to make it a quick stop. I would have rather had the extra time on the mountain. Loved Jungenfrau!

While out on the observation deck at the Top of Europe site someone in a "racing" style plane went zipping between the building & the nearest peak - Incredible Also totally enjoyed the glacier tunnel. Enjoyed the entire day

Another off the bucket list

Excellent in everyway, Jorge was a great guide and the whole trip was a once in a lifetime experience from beginning to end. I would really recommend this trip if you are going to Switzerland, we were based in Lucerne and the pickup was very convenient just by the station Go and be thrilled

Great day out

An amazing experience, we were fortunate to have good weather that day. There are a lot of beautiful views if you can bear the cold so I recommend wearing a few layers and definitely wearing gloves with touch screen capability. I also recommend bringing a packed lunch prior to getting there if you don't want to spend money on the cafe/restaurant as it's not cheap. Overall a great experience and would say it's worth it.

Best tour so far!

Our coach was very comfortable and made it very enjoyable viewing the countryside! Manual, our driver was great and very polite. Our guide, Yolanda, was very personable and knowledgeable. Great trip and certainly recommend to do while in Switzerland!

Can't top this......in Europe

This trip has so much to it. The cog wheel train ride, the views from the Sphinx observatory, viewing and walking onto a glacier, the ice tunnel, and food and drink at 11,333 feet. It was an incredible experience. Our guide was very informative along the way and added to the trip. The only downside to the whole day is the shuttle bus ride there and back, if you get car sick easily this will be rough, as the trip goes over the alps and is very winding at higher speeds. However, even with that the trip is worth the time and money.

Breath of fresh air

Wont be forgetting this tour for a while. Travel time was pretty good. Tour guide was informative and friendly. The stop in Interlaken was (I felt) a bit pointless as there was not much to do... especially if you were not interested in shopping for watches or chocolate! However the scenery was beautiful. I underatand that wr had to drop people off that were doing different activities.... the hour spent there was unnecessary. The Alps were beautiful. The time spent there was just right. There were plenty of little sights and bits to see, so many amazing photo opportunities and a few different food choices.
